Capricorn Yearly Horoscope Trends

Pluto has been in your own sign for the past twenty years. He’s almost finished with you, but not just yet: he will be in and out of your sign next year but in 2024 he will leave for good. Most of you are not feeling the effects of this too strongly, but those of you born late in your sign – from January 14 to 19 – are feeling it intensely. Pluto’s long transit has brought many personal dramas into your life – surgeries, near-death kinds of experiences and psychological encounters with death. You are giving birth to a new you – the you that you’ve always aspired to, the you that you wanted to become. This has already happened for most of you, but for those born late in Capricorn it is happening this year. A new birth can be a gory kind of business, but the end result is good.

Late in Saturn, the ruler of your Horoscope, moved into your money house. He will be there for the rest of the year ahead. This is fortunate for financial matters as it shows focus. But you will work harder for finances this year. Also, you need to resolve conflicts with the money people in your life. More on this later.

Your 3rd house of communication and intellectual activities has been strong for many years. Neptune, the ruler of the house, has set up shop there. This year the 3rd house is even more important as Jupiter will spend approximately half the year here. This is wonderful for students below the college level. They are focused on their studies and seem very successful. It is good for those of you in sales, marketing and teaching and for writers. Your communication and intellectual abilities are very much enhanced.

Jupiter spends the rest of the year in your 4th house of home and family. This indicates a likely move, or the fortunate purchase or sale of a home. Women of childbearing age are more fertile than usual. More on this later.

Uranus has been in your 5th house of fun and creativity for some years now and will be there for some more to come. Thus children and children figures in your life have been more difficult to handle. They seem rebellious and unusually independent. But this transit also brings very original personal creativity and more joy in the way you make money.

Health is basically good this year, though it needs more attention after May 11. Mars will spend an unusual amount of time in your 6th house, from August 20 onwards. This shows a need for good emotional health – also exercise becomes more important. More on this later.

Your most important interests this year are the body, image and appearance; finance; communication and intellectual interests; home and family (from May 11 to October 29 and from December 21 onwards); children, fun and creativity; and health and work (from August 20).

Your paths of greatest fulfilment will be communication and intellectual interests (until May 11 and from October 29 to December 21); home and family (from May 11 to October 29 and from December 21 onwards); and children, fun and creativity.

Health

(Please note that this is an astrological perspective on health and not a medical one. In days of yore there was no difference, both these perspectives were identical. But these days there could be quite a difference. For a medical perspective, please consult your doctor or health practitioner.)

Health looks good this year. As the year begins there is only one long-term planet – Pluto – in stressful alignment with you, and most of you are not feeling this – only those of you born late in your sign. On May 11 Jupiter moves into an adverse aspect, but Jupiter’s influences tend to be mild. Health and energy are basically good. Sure, there will be periods in the year where health and energy are less good than usual. These periods come from the transits of short-term planets and are temporary, not trends for the year. When they pass, your naturally good health and energy return.

Your 6th house of health is basically empty until August 20 – another positive signal. You take good health for granted. You have no need to overly focus on it as nothing is wrong. On August 20 Mars will enter your 6th house and spend the rest of the year there. This brings more emphasis on health, but it seems more related to the family and family members than your personal health.

Good though your health is you can make it even better. Give more attention to the following – the vulnerable areas of your Horoscope – this year (the reflex points are shown in the chart below):

A diagram of foot reflexology points for the year ahead

Important foot reflexology points for the year ahead

Try to massage all of the foot on a regular basis – the top of the foot as well as the bottom – but pay extra attention to the points highlighted on the chart. When you massage, be aware of ‘sore spots’ as these need special attention. It’s also a good idea to massage the ankles and below them.

  • The heart. This has been important for more than twenty years, and this year especially so for those of you born January 14–19, late in the sign of Capricorn. (The reflex is shown above.) Chest massage – especially of the breastbone and upper rib cage – will be beneficial too. The important thing with the heart is to avoid worry and anxiety, the two emotions that stress it out.
  • The spine, knees, teeth, bones and overall skeletal alignment are always important areas for you. Regular back and knee massage should be part of your normal health regime. Regular visits to a chiropractor or osteopath would be good too. The vertebrae need to be kept in right alignment. A good regime for dental hygiene is also important. Make sure you get enough calcium for bone health. Yoga and Pilates are excellent exercises for the spine.
  • The lungs, arms, shoulders, and respiratory system. Again, these are always important for you. Regular arm and shoulder massage should be part of your health regime. Tension tends to collect in the shoulders and needs to be released. Plain old fresh air is a natural healing tonic.
  • The head and face gain in importance from August 20. Regular scalp and face massage will be beneficial, as you not only strengthen the scalp but the entire body as well. Craniosacral therapy is very good for the head. If you’re out in the sun use a good sunscreen.
  • The adrenals. This area too only becomes important from August 20, and the reflex points are shown above.
  • The musculature is another area that becomes important after August 20. Good muscle tone and regular physical exercise, according to your age and stage in life, are important, although you don’t need to become a bodybuilder. Weak muscles can knock the spine and skeleton out of alignment and this could cause all kinds of other problems.

Mars is your family planet. So, as we mentioned, your focus on health seems to be more about the health of family members than your own health. It would also show the need for good emotional health. Moods need to be kept positive and constructive.

There are many short-term health trends in your chart, because your health planet, Mercury, is very fast moving. He travels through your entire Horoscope in the course of a year, so health can vary depending on where Mercury is and the kinds of aspects he receives. This will be covered in the monthly reports.

Home and Family

This is a strong – and happy – home and family year. Not only is your 4th house strong for half the year, but all the long-term planets are below the horizon of your chart – in the night side of the Horoscope. Your 10th house of career, by contrast, is basically empty – only short-term planets will move through there and their effect is mostly short term. Now Capricorn is always ambitious, but this year less so than usual. Family and emotional issues – the foundation upon which the career is based – are taking priority. You haven’t lost your ambition, but you’re preparing the foundation for a future career push. The higher the edifice, the deeper the foundation needs to be.

Jupiter’s move into your 4th house (and it’s an on-and-off thing) from May 11 to October 29, and then from December 21 onwards, often shows a move – a happy one. Sometimes it’s not a literal move; sometimes an additional home is acquired, sometimes you get access to additional homes even if you don’t own them. Sometimes you buy expensive items for the home or renovate it. The whole effect is ‘as if’ you have moved. You live in a more comfortable home.

Jupiter’s transit also shows that your family circle expands this year. Usually this happens through birth or marriage, but sometimes you meet people who are like family to you – who fulfil that function. As we mentioned, women of childbearing age become more fertile than usual. (This will be the case all next year too.)

But there is more happening here this year. Jupiter is your spiritual planet. His move into your 4th house shows that the family as a whole – and especially a parent or parent figure – is becoming more spiritual. They are all under intense spiritual influences. Their dream lives are active (as is yours). Their ESP faculties are more finely tuned. They are experiencing all kinds of supernatural phenomena. I wouldn’t be surprised if the home was used to hold spiritual meetings, lectures or charity events.

A parent or parent figure will travel more this year. If this is a woman of childbearing age, she is more fertile than usual. Whether this parent is male or female there are many financial changes happening, but there is prosperity – next year too. He or she is having a stable kind of family year – moves are not likely.

Siblings and sibling figures are having a good year overall. There is prosperity and fertility (if of childbearing age). Moves are not likely but siblings could be renovating the home. Children and children figures in your life have been moving around a lot. They seem unsettled, but a formal move is not seen. Grandchildren, if you have them, or those who play that role in your life, are having a status quo home and family year.

Finance and Career

Finance is a major focus in the year ahead. Saturn, the ruler of your Horoscope (and thus an important and friendly planet), occupies your 2nd money house. This shows prosperity. You spend on yourself. You adopt the image of wealth, you dress expensively. People see you as a money person and this opens all kinds of doors and opportunities to you. Your personal appearance and demeanour are big factors in your earnings and this is probably why you spend on yourself. You consider yourself the best investment there is.

But finance is a bit complicated. You seem in disagreement with the money people in your life. There is some conflict there. You (and they) will have to work harder to reach a consensus. Somewhere there is a middle point of compromise and you need to find it.

But these are minor issues. Uranus, your financial planet, has been in your 5th house for some years now. The 5th house is a fortunate house, and it tends to prosperity. But not just prosperity as we understand it in the mundane world – it points to a happy prosperity. The act of earning is pleasurable. You earn while you are having fun or involved in some leisure activity. Perhaps an important deal is made while you are at the theatre or resort or sitting by the pool drinking pina coladas. Perhaps your job involves entertaining clients in posh clubs or with lavish dinners. You are lucky in speculations. (Every investment has some degree of risk to it – but some are riskier than others.)

You make money in happy ways and you spend it on happy things – things that bring you joy. This is happy wealth. You are enjoying the wealth that you have.

Your personal creativity is more marketable these days. You spend on children and children figures but you also earn from them. When they are young, they serve as inspiration to earn more. Often they have profitable ideas. Many a fortune was built by someone observing the behaviour of their child. When they are older, they can be materially supportive.

Industries that cater to the youth market – especially of an electronic nature – are interesting. Video games, digital music, streaming services – high-tech entertainment geared to young people seems fun and profitable. There are companies involved with online gaming which would be interesting as businesses or investments. You have a feeling for these things.

Career, as we mentioned, is not a big issue this year. You’re building the infrastructure for the future this year. Building your base. Your 10th house is basically empty. And, as we mentioned, the night side of your chart is far stronger than the day side. This shouldn’t alarm you. Some years are like that. Career is quiet and stable. The problem is not talent or ability – just lack of interest.

Venus is your career planet. As regular readers know, she is a very fast-moving planet who will move through your entire chart in any given year. Thus there are many short-term career trends that depend on where Venus is and the kinds of aspects she receives. These are best dealt with in the monthly reports.

Love and Social Life

Your 7th house of love is empty this year. So, as in many past years, love seems stable. You seem content with things as they are and have no need to make dramatic changes or give it unusual focus. Those who are married will tend to stay married, and singles will tend to stay single.

However, if love problems arise it could be because of this lack of attention. You will have to focus more. Two lunar eclipses this year will force you to focus here. The first happens on May 16 and the second on November 8. These will be times for course corrections in love – eliminating the bugs and imperfections.

The status quo situation applies to those in or working on first or second marriages. Those in or working on the third marriage have better love and social aspects. If you are single, love will find you. Someone is pursuing you. If you are married, there is closeness in the relationship and the beloved is very supportive and devoted.

The Moon is your love planet and is the fastest of all the planets. Where the other fast-moving planets, the Sun, Mercury and Venus, take a year to cycle through your chart, the Moon does this every month. Thus love can happen for you in many ways and through many venues depending on where the Moon is and the aspects she receives. These are best dealt with in the monthly reports.

In general we can say that love will go better for you as the Moon waxes (grows larger). You have more energy, enthusiasm and social grace during those periods. The new and full Moons tend to be active social days (if these occur under good aspects they bring happiness; if they occur under adverse aspects they bring challenges).

A parent or parent figure is having a fabulous love and social year – from May 11 onwards (with a brief hiatus from October 29 to December 21). If he or she is single there can be a marriage or serious relationship happening.

Siblings and sibling figures are having a prosperous year, but love seems quiet.

Children and children figures probably shouldn’t marry this year (or in the next few years as well). They seem too unstable to get into anything serious. They are better off with serial love affairs.

Grandchildren, if you have them (or those who play that role in your life), are having a fabulous love and social year. Much depends on their age. If they are very young, they are making friends and seem popular. Older ones can marry or be involved in a relationship that is ‘like’ a marriage.

Self-improvement

Neptune has been in your 3rd house for many years now. Spiritually understood, he is elevating the mind, the intellect, the mental faculties to a higher, more spiritual plane – a higher vibration. We have written of this in past reports. But this year, this process is much accelerated, because your spiritual planet, Jupiter, is also in the 3rd house for half the year. This is elevation on steroids.

The first thing that is happening is that your taste in reading is much more refined. You have a taste now for spiritual-type literature. Regular mundane reading seems boring to you and lacks relevance or meaning. You want something deeper.

Also, the way you communicate is becoming very inspired. Many fine writers were (and are) Capricorns. I’m thinking of Jack London, Edgar Allen Poe, Rudyard Kipling and J. R. R. Tolkien. Those of you who already write will be inspired from on high. ‘All writing,’ says Emerson, ‘is by the grace of God.’ You are in that grace right now. Some of you might decide to take it up these days. Poetry also seems appealing for Capricorn.

Your speech and written words have a musical quality to them. Normally Capricorn speaks bluntly and to the point. Now you are more cognizant of tone, rhythm, nuance. This is so in your mental process as well. It’s not just about what is said or written. You’re aware of what is not said, or the way something is said – what was emphasized, what was glossed over; this gives you a deeper insight into what you’re reading.

With Uranus, the planet of change, in your 5th house of creativity, you’re ready to explore new avenues of creativity these days – writing might be just the right thing. (Music also looks interesting.)

Dealing with rebellious children has been an issue for some years now. You are learning how to handle this through direct practical experience. By the time Uranus is finished with you, you’ll be an expert. Capricorn likes authority and likes to exert it. But too much authoritarianism won’t work with the kids. In fact, it can incite them even further. Uranus prides himself on ‘bucking’ authority. He likes ‘sticking it to the man’. But Uranus also loves truth. So, if you need to limit the children (and they do need limits) don’t be authoritarian about it, take the time to explain why. They need to understand this.

Mars will be in your 6th house of health from August 20 onwards. We have discussed the physical health implications of this, but the real, deeper, message is the need for emotional healing. Mars, as you know, is your family planet, ruling your moods, emotions and memories. So this will be a time to get more involved in emotional healing – healing of the past, healing of the memory body. It will be a good time to embark on psychological-type therapies. But you can do much to clear the memory body on your own, through meditation. (My book A Technique for Meditation gives techniques for doing this.) If anything bothers you or throws you off your game, that is a signal to clear the issue. You can do ‘touch and let go’ as outlined in my book, or do the writing out exercise.
