Major Trends
Last year, , was a big improvement over 2018 and 2019. And is even better than . Two long-term planets – Saturn and Jupiter – were in stressful alignment with you and now they have moved away. Overall health and energy will be a lot better this year: with more energy comes more success.
There is only one long-term planet – Pluto – in stressful alignment with you, and this has been so for many years. By now you know how to deal with his challenges. This alignment shows much dealing with death and death issues: perhaps surgery or a near-death experience. This seems to involve bosses, parents or parent figures – or people involved in your career.
Saturn and Jupiter are both in your 11th house of friends this year. Thus, friendships seem bittersweet. On the one hand, you are making new and important friendships – happy ones – but on the other, there are disappointments with existing friends. You seem to be of two minds when it comes to friends. A part of you wants to cut back here while another part wants to expand this area. More on this later.
Spirituality has been important in your life for many years. Neptune has been in your spiritual 12th house for many years and will be there for several more. But this year, Jupiter will make a foray into your 12th house from May 14 to July 29. This will be an announcement of things to come. Jupiter will bring an expansion of your spiritual life. Many will meet a teacher – a guru. Many will have spiritual breakthroughs. There will be much progress here. Next year the progress will be even greater, as Jupiter moves into your 12th house on December 30 for the long haul.
Your chart is very interesting this year, Aries, in that all the long-term planets are in the Eastern sector of your chart all year. (This was the case last year as well.) This is unusual. The Eastern sector is the sector that relates to self – to me and my interests – to what I want to do. Relationships are relatively less important. There will be times when the Western, social sector of your chart will be stronger, but it will never dominate. If you can find a lover who gives you independence, the relationship can work. But you need to have your own way these days, and for those of you who are single this can be a problem.
Your most important areas of interest this year are finance; career; groups, group activities and friendships; and spirituality.
Your paths of greatest fulfilment this year are communication and intellectual interests; friendships, groups and group activities (from January 1 to May 14 and from July 29 to December 30); and spirituality (from May 14 to July 29 and from December 30 onwards).
Health
(Please note that this is an astrological perspective on health and not a medical one. In days of yore there was no difference, both these perspectives were identical. But these days there could be quite a difference. For a medical perspective, please consult your doctor or health practitioner.)
Health, as we mentioned, is vastly improved over recent years, with only Pluto in stressful alignment with you. All the others are either in harmonious aspect or leaving you alone. So, health should be good. If you have a pre-existing condition you should see improvement in this too.
Of course, there will be periods in the year where your health and energy are less easy than usual – maybe even stressful. But these are temporary periods caused by the transits of short-term planets; they are not trends for the year. When the planets move away from their challenging transits, your normal health and energy will return.
Good though your health is, you can make it even better. Give more attention to the following – the vulnerable areas in your Horoscope (the reflex points are shown in the chart below):

Try to massage all of the foot on a regular basis – the top of the foot as well as the bottom – but pay extra attention to the points highlighted on the chart. When you massage, be aware of ‘sore spots’ as these need special attention. It’s also a good idea to massage the ankles and below them.
The head and face are always important for Aries (Aries rules the head and face). Regular scalp and face massages are always good for your health, and craniosacral therapy is also beneficial for the head: the plates in the skull need to be kept in right alignment.
The adrenals too are always important for Aries. The important thing here, as our regular readers know, is to avoid anger and fear – the two emotions that stress them out.
The musculature. You don’t need the physique of a body builder, Aries, only good muscle tone. Weak or flabby muscles can knock the spine and other bones out of alignment and this will cause all kinds of other problems. So vigorous physical exercise – according to your age and stage in life – is important.
The lungs, arms, shoulders, small intestine and respiratory system are areas that are ruled over by Mercury, your health planet, and so are also always important for Aries. Arms and shoulders should be regularly massaged – especially the shoulders. Tension tends to collect there and needs to be released.
Regular readers will know that Mercury is a fast-moving planet. In any given year he moves through all the signs and houses of your Horoscope. So, there are many short-term health trends that depend on where Mercury is at any given time and the aspects he is receiving. These trends are best discussed in the monthly reports.
Mercury will be in retrograde motion three times this year (his norm), from January 30 to February 20, May 29 to June 21 and September 27 to October 17. These are not periods to make drastic changes either to the diet or health regime. Nor are they particularly good times to schedule procedures or tests (results are often wrong or misleading under a retrograde). These are periods for reviewing and for gaining mental clarity on your health.
Home and Family
Your 4th house of home and family hasn’t been prominent for some years now and there is not much going on here. It is not a major interest in . Career and outer activities seem more important. During the course of the year there will be periods where the 4th house does become important – June 2 to July 31, for example. But this is a short-term trend, not a trend for the year.
Also keep in mind that there will be two lunar eclipses this year – one on May 26 and the other on November 19. These tend to bring dramas with the family and often repairs in the home. We will discuss it further in the monthly reports.
When a house – an area of life – is empty, it tends to the status quo. You are probably content with things as they are and have no need to make major changes. It can be seen as a good thing.
The spouse or current love seems more fertile this year. He or she would like to make renovations in the home. A move, though, is not likely.
A parent or parent figure is focused on finance and seems prosperous this year. The other parent or parent figure has a fairly stable financial year. Neither seems likely to move.
Siblings or sibling figures in your life are also having a stable family year. Moves are not likely. However, they have good career success, and 2022 will be even better.
Children or children figures could be making renovations in the home. And, though their relationships are being tested, there is no lack of love in their lives. Grandchildren (if you have them) are more likely to move in 2022 than this year.
If you’re planning major renovations in the home, June 12 to July 31 would be a good time. If you’re just redecorating or buying art objects for the home, June 2 to June 27 would be a good time.
Your family planet, the Moon, is the fastest moving of all the planets. Where the other fast-moving planets will take a year to move through all the signs and houses of your Horoscope, the Moon does this every month. So, there are many short-lived family dramas and emotional upheavals that happen every month. For example, every time the Moon moves through Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius in aspect to volatile Uranus. These are best covered in the monthly reports.
Finance and Career
Your money house has been strong for a couple of years now, since 2019 when Uranus moved there, and it will be strong for many more years to come. This, of itself, is a good financial signal. It shows focus and interest. By the spiritual law we get what we focus on – good, bad or indifferent.
The strong focus also shows a willingness to overcome all the various obstacles that arise in finance. It tends to prosperity.
Many of the trends that we have discussed in previous years are still in effect – Uranus is a very slow-moving planet. So, you have been throwing out all the ‘normal’ rule books about finance and discovering what works for you. There is nothing innately wrong with the rule books, but you are wired up in a certain way and what works for others might not work for you – and what works for you might not work for others. You are learning about finance through trial, error and experimentation – and this is the way true knowledge is acquired.
Uranus rules science, astronomy, technology, new inventions, innovations and the online world: all these areas can lead to profits. They are good as jobs, businesses or investments. You have a good intuitive feeling for these sorts of companies.
Uranus also rules astrology, so you may profit from an astrology-based business or through using the insights of astrology in your financial life. (Some of you might even practise the craft.)
Uranus likes the ‘new’. It favours start-ups, and many of you are involved in start-up businesses these days. This can be on a personal level – starting a new business or getting a job in a new venture – or investing in one.
Friends seem helpful in finance. Your good networking skills likewise.
Saturn has an impact on Uranus this year (in various degrees of exactitude), which means that earnings can take longer to materialize than usual. Saturn’s impact could introduce some caution in your financial decision making (I feel it is a good thing – you tend to be too impulsive and speculative by nature).
Fast-moving Venus is your financial planet, moving through all the signs and houses of your chart each year (and this year she will move through your 10th house of career twice). Thus, there are many short-term financial trends that are best discussed in the monthly reports.
You’ve been ultra ambitious in your career in recent years. You’ve worked hard and gone the extra mile to please your bosses. This is paying off now. You seem to be in a career ‘groove’. You’re experiencing the rewards of all your work. Your career achievements have put you in a new social circle. You are more friendly – more social – with your bosses and superiors. Your friends are helpful careerwise too. Your career planet, Saturn, will be in your 11th house all year. This spells success as the 11th house is always beneficent. Fondest career hopes and wishes are coming to pass. Your high-tech expertise is not only important in your financial life but in your career as well.
Love and Social Life
Your 7th house of love is not prominent this year. Yes, there will be times when it becomes active and powerful, but these are short-term trends caused by the transits of the fast-moving planets; they are not trends for the year. For the most part, the 7th house is empty and this has been the case for some years now. I read this as a good thing. It shows a tendency to the status quo. You are basically content with things as they are and have no driving urge to make changes. Those who are married will tend to stay married, and singles will tend to stay single.
There is another issue in love that we discussed earlier. For the past few years the Eastern sector of the Horoscope has been dominant. All the long-term planets are congregated in the East (the sector of self). And, while the Western social sector will get stronger at certain times, it will never be dominant. Thus, you are in a cycle of independence, of having things your way, of taking care of number one and your personal interests, desires and goals. Others are not that important. The social life is not that compelling. Anyone involved romantically with an Aries will need to understand this. Let them have their own way, so long as it isn’t destructive.
Venus is your love planet. And, as has been mentioned, she is a very fast-moving planet. There are many short-term love trends that depend on where Venus is and the aspects she receives, and these are best dealt with in the monthly reports.
So far we have been discussing love and romance. However, the area of friendships, seems much more active. (The 7th house rules friendships of the heart, while the 11th house rules friendships of the mind.) Here things are bittersweet. On the one hand you want to limit these activities, while on the other you want to expand them. I feel you will be successful in this area. Your career planet, Saturn, will spend the year in your 11th house, indicating that this area is a big priority in life and that you’re willing to overcome any challenges or disappointments that occur. Also it shows that you are mixing with people who can help you careerwise. Your networking abilities further the career.
With Jupiter also in your 11th house for almost all the year you’re expanding your circle of friends. Some look to be from foreign countries. Group travel opportunities also seem to be happening. (You enjoy travelling in a group rather than on your own.)
Parents and parent figures in your life have a stable social year. Children and children figures have love indicated this year – perhaps even marriage if they are of appropriate age. Siblings and sibling figures have a status quo love and social year.
Self-improvement
Prepare for big and monumental changes. The spiritual life, which has been active for many years, becomes even more active this year. Those of you already on the path (and many of you are) are going to see the results of your previous work in the year ahead. Jupiter is joining Neptune in your spiritual 12th house in . Although it is only a flirtation this year – he will enter your spiritual house on May 14 and retrograde back into your 11th house at the end of July – it is the announcement of things to come. During this period your spiritual abilities and insights will increase. Your ESP powers likewise. You will have important – and monumental – spiritual breakthroughs. And, when these happen, the whole perspective on life changes. There will be spiritual peak experiences this year – and even more next year.
Neptune in the 12th house favours the Bhakti spiritual path of love and devotion – a powerful path. This generally involves mantra chanting, dancing, singing and drumming. It involves practices that elevate the emotions. But when Jupiter enters your 12th house it will favour exploring the mystical paths of your native religion. Every religion – no matter how seemingly dogmatic and regimented – has its mystical side. Usually it is ignored, but this is a year to explore these things.
For those not on the spiritual path (are there any Aries who are not?) this is a year to embark on it. You will be shown (as the saying goes) that ‘there is more to me than what you see’. The spiritual world – and the angels and masters who live there – know how to gain your attention. You will experience all sorts of meaningful coincidences that can’t be explained logically. You will dream of someone and they will call you. Or, you will think of them and they will call you. You will have a hunch to stay out of certain areas and learn afterwards that there was some terrible accident or crime that happened just at that time. These and other types of experiences will put you on the path.
The Hindus refer to Jupiter as the ‘Guru’ – an apt name. His entry into your house of spirituality shows that a guru is coming into your life. Someone who will guide you on to the next steps. My teacher used to say that meeting a real guru is the high point of life and that if it happens, you can consider your life a success.
Two eclipses happen in your 9th house of religion and philosophy this year. One on May 26 and the other on December 4. This shows a shake-up – a testing – of your religious, theological and philosophical beliefs. Spiritual revelation often causes this and it is generally a very good thing. Many of these beliefs need to be corrected, modified and sometimes discarded altogether.
The year ahead is one of spiritual revelation, but 2022 will be even more so.
