At first glance one may expect a high degree of compatibility between partners born on the same day of the month. However, this is not necessarily the case as the birth month plays a significant role in determining the integral personality structure of the individual. Most importantly, the condition of positivity or negativity is usually created by the number or numbers of the birth month. These states of mind are responsible for dividing couples born on the same day into a variety of combinations. For instance, compatibility between a positive Nine couple would be the opposite of that between a negative pair. Again, the relationship would be different when one is a positive personality and the other negative. Also, positivity and negativity are not necessarily fixed states. They are seen in varying degrees that can be increased or decreased by education, environment and the cultural background of the individual.

All Nines born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months are naturally positive personalities by virtue of the 1 vibration which is the prime force that ensures positive expression of the attributes of the birthday vibration. The inner security of those born in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th months is not as strong. The absence of the 1 vibration in the significant position of the birth month is responsible for loss of a degree of self-confidence and self-esteem. These individuals may struggle to live up to the full potential of the 9 vibration. Those born in the 2nd, 5th and 8th months are faced with the same obstacles, and also with the additional problem of over sensitivity and emotionalism. Negative expression is frequent as much too often the heart rather than the head rules the integral personality. Finally, those Nines born in the 9th month suffer from strong negativity due to an overloading of 9 attributes.

In view of these variables and certain unique features of the 9 vibration it is not easy, in a generalised summary, to predict the degree of compatibility that can be achieved between these couples. As the last of the single digit numbers the 9 symbolises completeness in the sense that it contains, in different proportions, the attributes of the preceding vibrations 1 to 8. This condition creates in the human personality the most desirable quality of wisdom. All other characteristics are an outgrowth of wisdom. Parents of a Nine child may have frequently experienced this natural wisdom. The completeness of this vibration gives the Nine personality international and universal perspectives. While physically residing in their country of birth and giving it their loyalty they are also citizens of the world in their general outlook. It is the easiest vibration that enables the individual to shift from the position of ‘I’ to the position ‘We’. Nines are therefore extroverted individuals who are enthusiastic travellers and explorers. Their explorations are not confined to physical levels as the proportion of the material vibrations 1 and 4 is not as strong as the spiritual and mental forces. Consequently, Nines do not possess a close attachment to the material world. Their directions lie in educational, religious, spiritual and humanitarian aspects of life. The desire of many Nines is to dedicate themselves not only to self-enlightenment but also to service to humanity on as large a scale as their circumstances would allow.

Average Nines share common ground on many things dear to their hearts and minds, but what they may not share as amicably will be their domestic responsibilities. Outside interests may work against a settled and stable domestic background. They are easily caught up in affairs other than their own. ‘Charity begins at home’ is not a maxim followed by most Nines. Home duties will be regarded as dull, uninteresting and irksome as they are not by nature domesticated individuals. No satisfaction will be drawn from the repetitive tasks of a homemaker, as confinement to routine is much against their nature. As time will always be at a premium their daily round of living will be governed by speed. In these circumstances it will not always be easy to establish as much domestic harmony and stability as a Nine partner would desire.

An active social life will be followed unless one or both are excessively negative personalities. Most Nines are fulfilled when operating in the heart of society. Personal dignity, quickness to see and do the right thing, spontaneous gaiety they display among friends and acquaintances, absence of any form of bigotry and narrow-mindedness, a wide range of interests, eagerness to learn as well as give out of their vast store of knowledge, combine to ensure their popularity at all levels of society. The danger here, as it is in their public life, is an excess of involvement at the expense of domestic quietude. Unprincipled people are bound to take advantage of the Nine’s generosity and hospitality. If they fail to leave sufficient time for themselves their intimate life is bound to suffer.

Another asset of the 9 vibration is the ability to quickly render thoughts into words. Fluency of speech and wealth of knowledgeable conversation are therefore hallmarks of all Nines, with the exception of badly negative individuals. These negative cases become inquisitive listeners who may from time to time contribute cynical remarks as they enjoy creating a discordant atmosphere. Oral communication between the average Nine couple will be effortless and inhibited only when one or both suffer from a lapse into one of their unaccountable moods. They may indulge in serious topics or charm away a usually dull hour with agreeable chitchat, particularly on the human comedy they observe around them. Having the ability to cope with outlandish and contradictory opinions they are patient and compassionate listeners who willingly lend an ear to the joys and sorrows of others. They may end a discussion, argument or even a quarrel without retaining any bitterness or resentment.

As Nines operate on the mental plane they are unlikely to choose recreational activities that are physically based such as body contact sports or highly competitive activities. More receptive to higher and subtle forces a Nine couple will be alert to the more genteel things of life and involve themselves in art, music, literature and dance. They are givers rather than takers. Either individually or jointly this couple will devote much time in selfless service to charitable and humanitarian organisations. Self-development circles involving meditation, healing, spiritualism and similar activities will be organised and run by them. As their personal interests are so similar, a great deal of togetherness can develop. On the other hand, it will not be an exclusive togetherness, but rather an inclusive state which takes in a diverse range of people. Their conscious identity with all life broadens their activities to such an extent that a real effort has to be made to spend time together and with family members.

As the relationship between a Nine pair will be essentially on a non-materialistic plane neglect of their financial affairs could be the cause of many upheavals. Money often goes out as fast as it comes in. However, Nines possess an uncanny capacity to recover from adversity and rebuild their fortunes. Although they may not hold on to their fortune for long they are sooner or later adequately replenished. Being givers they attract, by the law of compensation, all their material needs.

Other Nine characteristics conducive to a vibrant relationship between positive or near positive partners are broadmindedness, compassion, understanding, generosity, sexuality, romance, imagination, honesty, idealism, personal magnetism, charm, spontaneity, forgiveness and clairvoyance. Free from prejudice, they are able to see good in each other and in all people. Some Nine qualities that may interfere with the stability of the partnership are an excess of generosity, poor money management, lack of a commercial sense, tendency to part with their possessions unwisely, especially when their emotions are aroused, indecision and inconsistency, impractical ideas, impressionability and vulnerability to deceit. The situation would be more difficult when negative forces are present. Negative Nines are subject to frequent mood changes. They could fluctuate between warmth and generosity and coldness and withdrawal. They are also self-opinionated, unduly critical, selfish, restless and hypersensitive. They take offence easily due to a very suspicious nature.

Nine personalities fall in love deeply giving their all to their partners. Yet, it is not a possessive love. Their relationship is based on freedom and trust. Early years of marriage will be a true testing time as the love of a partner will not change their convivial and amplified outlook on life. A fine balance will be required between their private life and outside activities because neither partner will feel the need to surrender their pre-marital interests to any great extent. Exceptions will be seen when one partner is overly negative (e.g. 9/9/1999). The openness and trust will be abused by the hardness and warped imagination of such a very negative Nine. While positive Nines enjoy a spontaneous sharing of their inner life, negative Nines withdraw within themselves. Their inhibited emotions prevent them from giving an open display of their feelings.

Please refer to the chapter on 1st and 9th birthdays. The Zero in the 10th day does not add or take away any features of the 1 vibration. It may however emphasise certain positive or negative characteristics of this vibration.

To an external observer with earthly and materialistic perspectives much of the lifestyle of Nine and Eleven partners will be seen as something beyond the normal pattern. However, these partners themselves will see nothing out of the ordinary with their way of life. This distinction is created by several unique features of the 9 and 11 vibrations which create personality structures that are much too complex to be labelled as stereotypes.

In the first instance the number 9 stands on the highest rung of the single digit spectrum, having absorbed the qualities of all the preceding vibrations. It symbolises progress from egocentricity and an exclusive outlook on life to a far-reaching and inclusive outlook. An innate wisdom is the hallmark of the Nine. All other features are outgrowths of wisdom. Some typical characteristics displayed by the positive or near positive Nine personality are internationalism, sympathy for humankind as a whole, broadmindedness, unselfishness, generosity, tolerance, honesty, idealism, intuition, spirituality, non-attachment to material possessions and personal magnetism. Mature Nines will acquire and enjoy all the comforts and amusements of material life, but will not become tied down or enslaved by them. They are guided by the enduring nature of spiritual values rather than the passing nature of material values. However, not all these high-minded features will be seen in younger Nines as the Nine personality takes some time to come to grips between personal and impersonal urges. Until the personal aspect is reduced considerably, as it would be eventually, the Nine may suffer from inconsistency and frequent mood changes. Some problems that may affect even the best Nines are a tendency towards indecision, impressionability, periods of unaccountable sadness, lack of a commercial sense, over-generosity and a tendency to trust everyone.

The number 11 symbolises the first of the master vibrations and by its nature presents even greater difficulties to the young Eleven personality. It has everything in common with the 9 vibration plus certain unique features of its own, which operate on a higher frequency. The Nine’s desire to create a new and improved social order based on spiritual and moral values is enhanced in the Eleven by clearer inspiration, intuition and revelation. In addition, the Eleven has the ability to combine spirituality and metaphysics with scientific and artistic skills. Evangelists, missionaries, reformers and philosophers are found among these personalities as well as artists, psychologists, psychiatrists, astronomers, astrologers, scientists and inventors.

While Nines are more tolerant of contradictory opinions Elevens find difficulty coping with those who do not understand or do not share their advanced thoughts and aspirations. However, their intolerance of dissimilarity and incompatibility will not be a considerable problem to be faced in this partnership as Nines have similar aims and ideals, and above all, understanding. Some Elevens may not keep their advanced ideas under control or resist the urge to thrust them on others. As a result, they may be subject to derision by down-to-earth individuals who have no interest in abstract thought and idealism. Nines do not fall into the habit of speaking out to all and sundry as they are naturally circumspect in their choice of an audience.

Nines and Elevens are not leaders in a practical or physical sense. Rather, they are leaders of ideas and ideals. It is by this means that they gather a following of loyal and admirers. Likewise, an outright leader and decision maker will not emerge in this relationship. A democratic union based on consultation is the likely outcome. As both partners, with the exception of certain negative Elevens, see the broad picture rather than petty detail and possess the same standards of value they are able to keep their relationship on an equal footing. Superficial differences should not destroy their awareness of the fundamental similarity between their dispositions and aims in life. Though many younger couples may not have an adequate conception of the complicated forces at work within them this initial difficulty will be overcome as they countercheck each other during their maturing years. This is made easier as both are basically givers rather than takers. However, when certain differences arise Nines are likely to show greater willingness to make concessions while Elevens may show a tendency to take up an entrenched position. Elevens find it harder to adjust to conditions imposed upon them. Nines seek the ideal life while recognising that they are far from perfect, while Elevens may be unaware or unconscious of many of their human frailties. Furthermore, they are often resentful when any failings or errors are pointed out to them. Nines are prepared to conform while they are in the process of gradually transforming their living conditions, while Elevens would rather transform without conforming.

Elevens may be broadly divided into two groups. Those born in the 1st, 10th, and 11th months are rather rigid and unimaginative people. They live in a black and white world without much in between. They may also be inclined to dwell on the negative side of a person or situation upon first acquaintance. However, they are conscientious and meticulous workers with an acute sense of duty and loyalty. They may be givers, but they are not sharers. What is their own is strictly their own and not to be shared. Homemakers who are born in these months will demand to perform their tasks themselves and especially not share their kitchens. Nine partners will find them dependable and loyal on the one hand, but rather aggravating on the other, due to their one-pointed and unimaginative views. Other Elevens are more flexible and imaginative due to the influence of a different vibration in the birth month.

Nines and Elevens generally make good homemakers, but they cannot be confined to their domestic tasks. They are best in the dual role of working at home as well as engaging in employment. Self-employment or the professions suits them better than employment in subordinate positions. Neither partner is likely to neglect one set of responsibilities for the other, but the multiple responsibilities they undertake increases the speed of life resulting in a possible adverse effect on domestic harmony. Having considerable inner strength and guidance both partners can summon the courage and strength to overcome this situation if it does arise.

The initiative in their social activities is likely to be taken by the Nine partner as this individual cannot be confined to a small circle of friends and acquaintances or to a home-based lifestyle. Nines are extroverted, warm and friendly people who see nothing wrong in keeping up with social activities engaged in prior to meeting their partners. Elevens are not as gregarious as they are not able to open out as easily. They are guarded in their approach to strangers and new acquaintances, yet remain totally loyal and true to trusted friends. While Nines enjoy variety in their contacts and activities most Elevens prefer a regular and familiar scene. They will not be as well known in their neighbourhood as their Nine partners. Their desire to keep to a select circle of friends should not cause friction as Nines do not always depend on their partners to accompany them in their social engagements. A characteristic both have in common is the ability to be one of a crowd and yet retain their individuality. They are by no means followers.

Conversational exchanges between this couple will be frequent and interesting. The Eleven partner, however, will be inclined to get carried away when discussing their favourite topics and unconsciously switch from a two-way conversation to a one-way dissertation of their opinions. They are by nature poor listeners. They should learn when to stop if they wish to be heard or taken seriously. Many Elevens sincerely believe they have a message to give to the world and proceed to do so without much circumspection. Their beliefs are likely to be reasonable, but the means by which they try to convince others may not be the best. Nines, in contrast, do not fall into one-sided conversational habits due to their genuine interest in the joys and sorrows of people. There are very few topics a Nine would not discuss objectively. While this personality has overcome the confines of egocentricity the Eleven, due to the influence of the ego-centred 1 vibration, operates from a more personal standpoint despite the superior forces working within them.

The metaphysical and mystical aspects of life will engage the attention of these partners during their non-working hours. Music, art and literature will also become complementary interests. While the Nine may pay more attention to social service the Eleven would use their natural inventive and creative talents working on some favourite project. While Nines possess a keen appreciation of art and music and could often become genuine connoisseurs, the Eleven’s creative ability produces a strong urge for artistic expressions, musical composition and scientific experimentation. Their productions in music, art and science, not excluding psychic art, will usually be original and very modern. Positive Elevens have the potential to become good mediums due to the strong connection between the physical plane, the mental plane and the spiritual plane. Nines do not have the strong physical connection which is needed for safe mediumship. However, Nines will take a deep interest in this major aspect of spirituality. The great advantage held by these partners is that the interests closest to their hearts can be supported and shared. The Eleven is especially fortunate as this individual cannot cope with a partner who does not share their aspirations. They need to talk about their interests and a more receptive and knowledgeable partner than a Nine can rarely be found. Though these partners can engage in most things as a twosome they can also work or play independently of each other without feelings of possessiveness or dependence. One does not have to bask in the reflected fame of the other.

Nines and some Elevens may have different interpretations as to the value and use of money which could result in their financial affairs becoming a source of discord. Nines are generous and impulsive spenders who do not allow money worries to interfere with their pursuit of the good life as they interpret it. They remain optimistic when finances go downhill or fall into disarray. Their optimism is often justified as the 9 vibration bestows amazing powers of recovery and re-establishment following any form of adversity. Elevens who are born in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 11th, and 12th months are unsettled unless they possess a fair degree of financial security and they seek to establish this position by wise expenditure and reasonable saving. Having succeeded in doing so their differences with a Nine partner will be settled as Elevens themselves do not go after money for its own sake, rather for the feeling of security which enables them to concentrate on their higher aims. While not sharing the optimism of the Nine they are able to appreciate the Nine’s non-attachment to material wealth and even go beyond the Nine in this respect. Elevens born in the other months are more akin to the Nine partners in their indifferent attitude towards money.

Nine and Eleven partners will not intentionally indulge in behaviour that could be harmful to their relationship. Their moods may not always coincide as the Nine, especially, passes through complicated levels of feeling which they frequently display. Elevens are rather more stable and self-restrained in emotional expression and emotional control. The complex and demanding life both partners are likely to lead creates a craving for frequent restoration of balance in their life. They should not attempt to restore this balance with the aid of outside agencies, and should instead seek to do so within themselves and with each other in the peace and tranquillity of their home. Over-involvement in exterior activities at the expense of periods of relaxation and togetherness could become a habit that may endanger the closeness of these partners.

Success in any combination depends largely on the degree of inner security possessed by each partner and their positive attitudes towards life. If these qualities are weak or lacking in one or both an uphill battle to maintain a successful relationship can be expected. The measure of success that can be achieved in this combination will depend on the partner born on the 9th day. Qualities such as self-confidence, self-assertiveness, leadership, decision, willpower and a good self-image are provided in ample measure by the 1 vibration appearing in the birthday or birth month. Persons born on the 9th day of the month are separated into two groups, i.e. those whose birth months provide the 1 vibration and those whose birth months do not. Nines born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months are positive personalities who can draw upon the full potential of the 9 vibration of the birthday with the backing of the 1 vibration in the birth month. These Nines possess an inner confidence and are broadminded, compassionate and tolerant people with a world-wide outlook on life. They are mentally and spiritually oriented people bent on promoting educational, cultural and spiritual values. They are naturally extroverted and dignified individuals with considerable personal charm who unconsciously spread a benign influence over their environment. The hallmark of the Nine is wisdom. All the preceding qualities are offshoots of wisdom. Older Nines display an impersonal and non-attached attitude towards the race for material wealth and personal power.

Nines who are not supported by the 1 vibration are likely to suffer in varying degrees from indecision and a lack of self-assurance and strength of purpose. They will also be subject to periods of unaccountable moodiness. These mood variations are due to the tremendous diversity of thoughts that flood into their minds and cannot find ready and suitable outlets. Nines born in the 9th month suffer from a severe form of negativity with problems such as fits of temper, intolerance, abnormal fear of being hurt, unstable emotional life, loss of direction, introversion and pettiness. A self-possessed partner with energetic and optimistic attitudes such as the Twelve may experience considerable difficulty coping with this latter category of Nine.

Subjects of the 12th day possess certain definite advantages over the Nine. Whereas the Nine personality is a concentration of the qualities of a single vibration, the Twelve is a compound of three vibrations operating in equal strength (1 + 2 = 3). Additional advantages are, firstly that one of these vibrations is the number 1, and secondly that these vibrations cover three planes of expression, namely the physical, emotional and mental. These advantages account for a well-rounded personality structure which does not depend on the birth month or any other area of influence for strengthening of the personality. In this instance the number or numbers of the birth month, whatever they may be, provide further strength to the personality or further outlets for self-expression. As a natural consequence, all Twelves are positive personalities. Negative traits such as lack of self-esteem and fear could exist only temporarily through the influence of a harsh environment or upbringing, but these are overcome with maturity. Versatility is the hallmark of the Twelve. The 1 vibration on its own contributes self-assurance, willpower, initiative, inventiveness, ambition, independence, leadership and decision. It also adds pride, possessiveness, egotism and a ‘me first’ mentality creating a demanding and uncompromising attitude. However, as this vibration does not operate on its own in the Twelve many of its best attributes are preserved and enriched by the 2 and 3 vibrations and the strength of many of its less favourable qualities is reduced. These forces also introduce flexibility, versatility, extroversion, sociability, romance, courtesy, generosity, consideration, optimism, laughter, humour and above all a powerful imagination. However, egocentric thinking remains as the 1, 2 and 3 vibrations are all egocentric forces. No negative forces are contributed so that the overall result is a well adjusted personality.

Despite these most favourable conditions the Twelve will be found to be a much younger personality than the Nine. The true indication of maturity is the absence of egotism and egocentricity and consequent consideration for others before one’s self. These qualities are innate in the 9 vibration and quickly manifested in the Nine personality. The presence of ego and egocentricity and concern for self before others discloses a younger personality filled with enthusiasm for experiencing life in all its fullness with a yearning for self-expression in all aspects of life. The Twelve is a representation of these qualities.

The responsible but repetitive tasks of a homemaker and the inevitable restrictions of a domestic way of life will not see a full expression of the Nine or Twelve personality. Besides, these are individuals who would be reluctant to depend on a partner’s income. With several marketable skills both partners will choose to remain in the work force while sharing domestic duties. However, it is quite likely that the Twelve will take upon themselves more of the skilled or practical jobs around the home. On account of their versatility the Twelve will avoid becoming any one thing or turning in any one direction so fully that other avenues are neglected. This partner may attempt to assume the role of leader and decision maker and succeed only when a special approach is made. The freedom of thought and movement natural to all Nines cannot be restricted nor can they be coerced into any action that does not meet with their approval. The Twelve’s leadership will remain within certain limits laid down by the Nine. They will be made to understand that modified leadership is not a surrender of any part of their individuality, but an enlargement of their whole personality.

An active social life will be another outcome of the extroverted nature of these partners. The marked difference in the strength of ego will be seen in their interaction in society. Twelves are very much aware of themselves and expect others to be so too. They resent taking a back seat and will ensure that they are not passed over or ignored. As long as they pay equal attention to the affairs of others as they do to their own their need to be the centre of attention is seldom objected to due to their lively conversation, good sense of humour and optimistic views on life. However, not many are able to give half their attention to the affairs of others. The urge to centre on their own affairs is too strong. The social graces of the Nine operate on a higher register. With reduced concern for occupying the spotlight they are able to increase their range of receptivity and give more of themselves. People may enjoy the company of the Twelve but find that they are able to spend longer periods in the company of the Nine and derive more lasting benefits. Nines attract popularity without effort due to their genuine interest in the affairs of others. They are natural confidants and counsellors who can switch from light-hearted entertainment to sincere and thoughtful interaction on abstract matters. Nines and Twelves are unlikely to compete with each other in a social situation as the understanding Nine will not interfere with the Twelve’s need for self-expression, nor will the Twelve interrupt on the occasions the Nine takes an active part. In fact, they are certain to support each other if the need arises.

Badly negative Nines excepted, oral communication between these articulate individuals will be unconstrained, friendly and brightened by repartee and good-natured humour. Once again, the subjective nature of the Twelve’s ego and the more objective ego of the Nine will be reflected in their conversation. The Twelve may pay less attention to things that do not directly concern or affect them, but the Nine is a patient and understanding listener who can maintain a balanced conversation or discussion acting as interested listeners and knowledgeable communicators. As many Nines are subject to mood changes their willingness to communicate will vary according to mood. Twelves do not find it easy to shift from the pronoun ‘I’ or the position ‘I’ to the pronoun or position ‘We’. They should realise that the Nine has an equal need to communicate and therefore listen more attentively to what the Nine has to say. It would be a foolish Twelve who disregards the wisdom and intuition of a Nine partner. They should make an effort to overcome a natural inclination to lose concentration when conversation does not conform to their own thoughts and ideas.

Recreational activities and hobbies taken up by these partners may be different, but not to an extent that would keep them apart. Holidays will be enjoyed together as would be their social activities. However, the Twelve being the more practical individual with closer integration of heart, head and hands will engage in practical hobbies such as art, carpentry, joinery, electronics, computer sciences and other physical creative activities. They are also competitive people who excel in competitive sport, although body contact sport may be avoided. Being essentially mentally and spiritually oriented with strong humanitarian tendencies the Nine will be drawn to the cultural, religious and mystical aspects of life as well as social service. Their enquiries into the nature of things in the seen and unseen worlds may isolate them to some degree from their down-to-earth friends and acquaintances, but still they are certain to forge close bonds with the few who follow the same pattern of thought. While Twelves usually interpret life according to their experience the intuitive and studious mind of the Nine makes them search for some background other than personal experience. To them sense experience is not the only source of enjoyment and knowledge. Many Twelves can, in time, be influenced by their Nine partners. An exceptionally resourceful team will be formed when this takes place.

The generosity of the Nine and the optimism of the Twelve may combine to create upturns and downturns in their financial position. Unlike some other couples their difficult periods would not create serious disharmony as both partners, for different reasons, know that the pendulum of fortune will swing their way sooner or later. In the meantime the Nine should curtail impulsive spending and impulsive giving and the Twelve should place a hold on the costly schemes that are so much a part of their lives. Both partners should make a real effort to save during their good times.

While Nines may indirectly and unconsciously influence their Twelve partners without feeling a need to apply direct methods, Twelves will try direct methods and meet with only a small measure of success. They will sooner or later realise that freedom and individuality are ultimately more precious and productive than a situation in which one partner rules the other. The Nines finds it much easier to curtail self-interest and identify with the interests and welfare of their Twelve partners, but the Twelves may take some time to do so. The romantic natures of both partners will always help them overcome difficult periods in their relationship.

Formed in totally different moulds people with 9th and 13th birthdays are personality types of extraordinary diversity. In the first instance, the personality formed by the 9th day is a concentration of the attributes of a single vibration while the Thirteen personality is a compound of three vibrations (1 + 3 = 4). These conditions create several major differences in the integral personality of each individual.

Nine personalities, through their 9 attributes, have one major outlet for self-expression while three main avenues or windows are available to the Thirteen through the attributes of the 1, 3 and 4 vibrations. The Nine concentrates on the mental plane while the Thirteen has two very effective outlets on the physical plane and one on the mental plane; the direct result being the Nine’s extroverted attraction to the subtle, refined and esoteric aspects of life and the Thirteen’s greater attachment to the physical and practical aspects. Therefore, Nines concentrate their mental energies on advancement in cultural, spiritual and humanitarian aspects of life and the maintenance of a high ethical standard while the Thirteen will place greater emphasis on a high standard of material life and personal success in the world. Wisdom and internationalism are the hallmarks of the Nine and versatility and practicality are the hallmarks of the Thirteen.

With the exception of certain Nines, success in the efforts of both personalities is assured as they are fortified with all the essentials needed for the different directions they choose. Nine personalities who do not fulfil all they have set out to do are usually these who lack the 1 vibration in their birth month. Under the influence of this important vibration all latent possibilities become active powers. It is known as the activator which provides the energy and thrust the personality needs to realise its full potential. Negative traits such as a lack of self-confidence, indecision and loss of direction diminish much of the potential of the Nine that does not possess this vibration. Its presence in other areas of the birth date and name will help, but not to the extent that it would do when found in the birth month. Nines born in the 9th month are particularly unfortunate as they are overloaded with 9 attributes without the stabilising power of down-to-earth vibrations which provide a balance to the personality. These individuals contribute many destructive forces to any relationship. An affinity with people of all cultures highlights all Nine persons. Even those Nines who are badly negative find themselves in an ambivalent situation of wanting to mix and at the same time wanting to avoid and withdraw into introversion. Nines who are positive or near positive are forgiving, compassionate, generous and broadminded people who seldom, if ever, flaunt their egos. On the negative side, Nines could be indecisive, over generous, impractical, suspicious and subject to sudden changes of mood.

The tremendous advantage held by the Thirteen personality is the possession of the 1 vibration in their birthday which assures positive expression of their integral personality. They do not depend on another area of influence for support, nor will the repetition of one of the birthday vibrations in the birth month cause any problem. A further strengthening rather than an overloading will take place if one of these vibrations is repeated. By virtue of the 1 vibration, coupled with the 3, the Thirteen possesses qualities of leadership, decision, willpower, ambition, individuality, creativity, independence and above all self-assurance. They also contribute self-love, egotism, pride, vanity and self-consciousness. In addition, the 3 aspect provides imagination, an alert and active mind and a youthful and optimistic outlook on life. The 1 vibration’s qualities of leadership are refined by certain qualities peculiar to the 3 vibration such as friendliness, good humour and courtesy. While the 1 and 3 aspects of the Thirteen provide the ideas and blueprints the 4 aspect puts them into form. This is the down-to-earth and practical part of the Thirteen. The 4 vibration exceeds all others in manual dexterity. Negative traits common to the 4 will not appear due to the influence of the 1 and 3 forces. Sexuality is stronger than average due to the combined powers of the 1 and 4.

The Nine’s emancipated and open-handed personality and the Thirteen’s stronger individuality may not combine readily in the distribution of authority and responsibility in domestic affairs. The Thirteen will sooner or later assume the role of decision maker. Decisions come easier to them, and more often than not they are able to convert the indecision of the Nine into direct action. As long as the Thirteen does not place arbitrary rules and restrictions over the Nine’s movements or suggest action that may not conform to the Nine’s standards of behaviour they may be allowed to keep this role. The moment they go beyond definite bounds set by the Nine their position will be challenged and the decision making role reversed, at least temporarily. Equality in decision making is not likely to be an established practice in this partnership.

A Thirteen partner will be much too strong and forthright for a badly negative Nine, This will cause the latter’s introverted nature to be emphasised. However, the Thirteen could be a tower of strength to a positive or near positive Nine. On the other hand, the depth of wisdom of the Nine will be a source of enlightenment to a Thirteen. These partners are not domesticated individuals. Their choice will be to remain in public life rather than confine themselves to the daily round of domestic duties. Nines are usually professionals in law, medicine, teaching, diplomacy, the public service and the religious orders. The Thirteen has an unlimited range of occupations to choose from. If home help is not available the Thirteen will show the greater aptitude in performing the various domestic tasks, especially in the area of home maintenance. Both may place themselves at the risk of subordinating family obligations to their public or career responsibilities.

The Nine’s impact on society will be slower, but it will be more significant and enduring. The Thirteen is likely to make an immediate impact, although it may not be as profound and lasting. The reason for this difference is the Nine’s genuine concern for the welfare of others and the Thirteen’s greater concern for their own welfare. Nines may not have ulterior motives for doing good as their nature is more impersonal, but Thirteens could expect a return for their good deeds. Nines are unconsciously dignified people who attract the regard and respect of others. Thirteens usually possess a good sense of their own dignity which often detracts from their popularity. Nevertheless they are useful and welcome members in any social gathering on account of their versatility, boundless energy and positive attitudes which uplift the atmosphere of any group. The body language of these partners is also different. The Nine’s is kindly and sedate with occasional withdrawal while the Thirteen’s could be vigorous and authoritative.

The faculty to communicate orally is a gift bestowed on both partners. Despite their natural aptitude with the spoken word they are not incessant or superficial talkers. They can switch with ease from commonplace topics to beneficial and profitable discussions. The speech of the Thirteen would be more emphatic, adamant and less tolerant of opposition and contradiction while that of the Nine is cautious, thoughtful and open to discussion. They are not so rigid in their views of right and wrong. They remain conscious of the fact that ill-considered words may hurt others, but Thirteens may not be as watchful. Rather than take up an aggressive stance Nines may resort to periods of silence especially when a melancholy mood hits them or when they feel they have been wronged in any way. Thirteens are not subject to such withdrawals or non-aggressive periods. In their interaction with one another a Thirteen partner would be more vocal about their views and needs. While there is more sentiment than practical intent in the Nine’s speech the reverse can be observed in the Thirteen. Nines can increase their persuasive powers by use of the added medium of touch. They know that a touch can break down resistance and help with final agreement when words have failed. Thirteens are reluctant touchers unless their birth month has a 2 or 5 vibration.

Choice of activities during non-working hours will be governed by the idealism of the Nine and the practicality of the Thirteen. Nines, being mentally and spiritually oriented people, think more than they act and derive much pleasure from contemplation and visualisation. Thirteens, on the other hand, are creative thinkers who proceed to put their mental images into physical form. However, Nines are not entirely free from direct action. Being more interested in people and feelings than objects and competitive activity they are found in worthwhile pursuits relating to cultural, religious and humanitarian causes. The Thirteen partner’s interests will range from creative hobbies at home, such as carpentry, mechanics, electronics, music and competitive sport outside the home. These partners’ individual hobbies should not conflict, and in fact, create a mutual advantage which can be increased by a common interest in music, dance, home decoration, home entertainment and social outings.

Management of the couple’s finances will be safer in the hands of the practical Thirteen. This individual is able to spend generously as well as responsibly. While spending generously on themselves they demand full value for their money. Seldom open to question of their spending habits or money management they are able to save for the future. The Nine’s natural generosity, their indifference towards material values, their impressionability and trustfulness make them generally poor money managers. They buy impulsively without shopping around for the best value. The saving habit, except for very short-term purposes, is not a feature of the Nine, unless this personality is born in the 4th month.

By and large this is a relationship that can be built into a real success. They will be well on their way when both realise that they need personal freedom, albeit in different ways. Attempts to possess each other could only jeopardise their relationship. Nines may seek the ideal in their interaction with their partners and others while being aware that they are far from perfect themselves. This awareness enables them to forgive, compromise and make personal sacrifices. In addition, they can cope easily with the sexual demands of the Thirteen, but could withdraw into themselves when great emotional demands are made on them. However, they may not encounter this problem with a Thirteen partner. Although physically active Thirteens are not emotionally demonstrative people. They may lack some of the delicate sensibilities of the Nine, and their confidence in themselves makes it difficult to accept the idea that they may be at fault in any matter. Both partners demand personal attention. Nines need it in a sentimental way, requiring frequent reassurance of love and the Thirteen in practical service.

Interestingly different personality types are found in this combination. The attraction of opposite polarities is the mainspring of its formation. Appreciation and exchange of the different contributions each partner can make should be the basis on which this relationship must develop and succeed. Once the honeymoon is over the discovery of dissimilar temperaments, dissimilar skills and dissimilar views on life will see the beginning of this process. This is a partnership that can be made into an outstanding success in all aspects of life. However, success or failure will depend on the degree of effort each partner is prepared to make in the process of giving and taking.

Positive attitudes present in varying degrees play a vital role in the accomplishment of any human undertaking, while negative attitudes, which also operate in varying degrees, invariably create a prolonged struggle. Self-confidence, independence, decision, willpower, leadership and extroversion are some of the fundamentals of positivity. Self-doubt, indecision, dependence, fear and introversion are some of the drawbacks of negativity. These are conditions to be examined carefully when any type of combination or relationship is contemplated. In a Nine/Fourteen relationship positivity is assured in the Fourteen partner but may or may not be an integral part of the Nine. The force that will guarantee positivity is the 1 vibration. Conversely, its absence invariably gives birth to negative traits.

Individuals with a 9th birthday will need the 1 vibration in the birth month to ensure positivity. Its presence in other areas of influence will provide positive qualities, but not as forcefully as it would in the birth month. Nine personalities may therefore be divided broadly into two categories, namely, those who are positive and who manifest positive attributes of the 9 vibration, and the others who may suffer from various negative aspects of this vibration and consequently, do not live up to their full potential. The most difficult Nine situation will be the personality born in the 9th month. Due to the overloading of 9 attributes negative qualities peculiar to the 9 vibration are emphasised. Negative 9 qualities could range from fits of temper, fanatical views on religious matters, criticism of others, intolerance, suspicion, abnormal fear of being hurt emotionally, and an aggressive facade put on in order to prevent being hurt. Emotionalism, egocentricity, bitterness, bad health and frustration are other defects. Mistrust of themselves becomes the main cause of inner insecurity.

A degree of chance is taken when a Fourteen chooses a Nine partner, particularly if they choose one born in the 9th month. There is no risk when a Nine chooses a Fourteen. The Fourteen is already a positive individual by virtue of the 1 vibration being part of the birthday. The 14th is a composite birthday providing three vibrations or outlets for self-expression (1 + 4 = 5). The 1 and 4 are strong physical plane forces. This is a really advantageous combination as the 1 makes the creative thinker and the 4 makes the builder. What the 1 forms mentally the 4 puts into physical form. Added to all this is the underlying 5 vibration which is linked to the physical, emotional and mental planes of expression, and consequently, greatly enhances the versatility of the Fourteen. Whatever is not an essential quality of the 1 and 4 is provided by the 5. Therefore, the Fourteen is a well balanced individual with feet firmly planted on the ground.

Those under the influence of the 9 vibration operate exclusively on the mental plane exhibiting a mature form of self-expression, as this vibration is the most advanced of all vibratory forces represented by the single digit spectrum. Nine personalities are distinguished by their international and global outlook on life. They may be loyal citizens of their country, but they are also citizens of the world. Their thought processes and subsequent actions are beyond race and religion. Cultural barriers hardly exist in their quest for understanding and acceptance of humanity as a single brotherhood. Spirituality and sentiment are also fundamental aspects of this vibration and Nine individuals shape themselves more in elevated thought and feeling than in physical activity. They soon develop a belief in a spiritual or inner order of things and this gives them value and meaning to life. Even negative Nines possess these urges though they may remain unfulfilled due to their poor relationship with others. Understandably, the extent to which a Nine would venture forth into the realms of spirituality and mysticism will depend on their economic and social background.

Fourteens expend their energies building a good material and physical lifestyle, leaving little or no time to bother about the whys and wherefores of existence. A Nine partner may go along with the Fourteen’s material and economic aims, but these will not be the end of their ambitions. The Nine’s ambition will be to leave a mark on the cultural, spiritual and humanitarian departments of life. The Fourteen is the realist while the Nine is the idealist. Practical knowledge as opposed to abstract or esoteric knowledge will distinguish the pair.

Distribution of authority in the domestic scene can be settled amicably. If the Fourteen is better able to do certain things the Nine will let them take over, and the Fourteen, in turn, will let the Nine do what they are better able to do. However, what will transpire will be a larger management of household duties by the Fourteen. It would be difficult to suppress their disciplinary, leadership and decision making qualities and their willingness to make bold moves. When it comes to practical affairs the Fourteen emerges as the natural leader. Nines are too generous and compassionate to exercise strong discipline, however, they would certainly exercise a benevolent influence when the disciplinary measures of the Fourteen are taken too far. Fourteens could become overconfident of their own judgments and resent taking advice, but the wisdom of the Nine will overcome this problem in time. Nines may not carry an equal load of domestic work, although it will be a foolish Fourteen who will not use the wisdom of the Nine through frequent consultation.

For the most part Nines are extroverted, informal and enterprising in social activities while Fourteens are more or less conservative and circumspect people who strive to live up to society’s expectations. People do not take long to relax in the company of a Nine and when they have been in a Nine’s company for a while they feel they have known them all their life; they may take time to feel the same way with a Fourteen. The personality of the Nine is such that they do not need to make a conscious effort to put people at ease, but Fourteens need to do so. A kindly and winning smile is the most effective body language used by the Nine while the Fourteen’s authoritative body language may cause others to adopt a defensive attitude at the beginning. Nines are much more sensitive to hurtful and callous conduct and seldom retaliate in kind. Fourteens are relatively impervious to social gaffes by others, and could easily retaliate effectively when they feel the need to do so. The initiative for social activity is likely to be taken by the Nine who will enjoy a more cosmopolitan and wider circle of friends and acquaintances. However, there should not be any conflict in the social life of these partners as the basic 5 aspect of the Fourteen will be activated by the Nine. This is the adventuresome and devil-may-care nature of the Fourteen which is usually kept in check by their 1 and 4 sides. Once activated these two could exceed the Nine in social activity.

The Nine partner will usually remain a step or two ahead of the Fourteen in oral expression and communication skills. But, here again, the Fourteen is not wanting in oral expression. It may lie dormant due to the relatively taciturn nature of the 1 and 4 vibrations. However, their 5 aspect provides great fluency of speech which can be evoked whenever the necessity arises. The Nine’s voice is seldom raised in authority, reproof or argument, and is instead heard in a manner that captures attention and respect. The Fourteen is brisk and decisive in speech and intolerant of contradiction and disobedience. While Nines use diplomacy and consideration in expressing their points of view, Fourteens could be forceful and definitive. Whenever a major difference of opinion arises between these partners the Fourteen may score, to their satisfaction, a short-term victory, but the Nine will get their way in the long term. The Fourteen’s larger ego structure does not release a give and take attitude as easily as the diminished ego structure of the Nine.

Nines are not restricted to things they can see, feel or touch due to the abstract nature of their thought processes. Besides, most Nines are rather awkward with their hands unless supported by numbers from the physical plane. Consequently most Nines may divide their leisure hours between their quest for knowledge in spiritual, metaphysical and mystical realms and in administrative involvement in cultural, religious, social and humanitarian activities. Being non-competitive people they do not remain long in competitive sport, choosing instead to continue in non-competitive or mildly competitive recreations. Fourteens, with a flair for forthright action and curiosity to explore and challenge the physical world, will be actively involved in a variety of outdoor interests. They are competitive individuals with considerable physical energy that needs to be released. With the combination of inventiveness and manual dexterity their hobbies will cover a wide range, such as mechanics, carpentry, farming, horticulture and home improvement. Despite the considerable gulf between their personal tastes and pursuits, it cannot be said that these partners will remain apart during their leisure hours and holiday periods, nor can it be said that there will be a clash of interests. On the contrary, the development of mutual respect and even an interchange of ideas will invariably follow as each sees the benefits to be derived from such a comprehensive range of interdependent activities.

The Nine’s non-materialistic values naturally create poor money management skills while the reverse is true of the Fourteen, as materialistic and economic aims govern their actions. Nine partners will not challenge these aims, and in addition, do not engage in a single-minded pursuit of money and material possessions, knowing that such a lifestyle could impoverish their mind and hinder inner enrichment. Once again the opposite can be said of the Fourteen who firmly believes in establishing a solid footing in the physical realm before any thought is given to non-physical matters. Nines are generous and impressionable people who can be persuaded to part with money and possessions to their own disadvantage. This can never happen with a Fourteen. Their positive personality deters anyone from even approaching them with ulterior motives. In these circumstances a much larger control of the family finances should be in the hands of the Fourteen.

A mature Nine develops the unique capacity to admire and enjoy the beautiful things of the world without the need for personal or physical possession. They experience great delight in scenes of natural beauty, in man-made edifices or in the nobility of human character. At the same time many Nines could be deeply disturbed by unpleasant experiences. The Nine’s love flows freely to all, yet their feelings for their loved ones is not diminished in any way. In contrast, Fourteens feel the need for personal possession of what they admire and their love and loyalty has to be centred on an individual or a form. The overflowing love that can develop in the Nine is not likely to arise in the Fourteen. The Nine’s tendency towards periods of silence and physical inactivity should not be confused by the Fourteen for incapacity or aversion to work. Nines need to look beyond the duration and limits of the physical body. Similarly, the Nine will observe the abundant physical energy of the Fourteen that needs to be expended in a variety of ways. The Nine’s intuitive examination of the nature of things is in contrast to the Fourteen’s analytical and practical understanding of things. An amalgamation of these opposite attitudes is possible, especially when the Nine shows that they could disagree agreeably in certain matters and criticise kindly when the need arises.

Here is an exciting birthday combination, which, in most instances, offers the best conditions for an active and abundant, harmonious and loving relationship. However, success cannot be taken for granted even in the best combinations unless positive attitudes are the essence of the personality structure of both partners. Hence, the only exception in this combination will be a partnership in which there is an excess of negative traits.

Positivity or negativity is determined by the presence or absence of the 1 vibration in the birthday or birth month. Positivity in an individual is displayed by qualities of leadership, decision, willpower, ambition, authority, self-confidence, ego strength, initiative, independence, self-assertiveness, and self-esteem. People with all or several of these attributes are in charge of their lives. Negativity is exposed by the very opposite of these qualities: lack of leadership, dependence, indecision, lack of self-confidence and self-esteem. These persons lacking self-determination, often surrender a good part of their individuality to others.

In a Nine/Fifteen partnership the Fifteen partner is assured of ego strength and a positive personality structure. The Nine’s nature will be positive if the 1 vibration appears in the birth month. In its absence the Nine may suffer from a mixture of positive and negative traits. This vibration may appear in other areas of influence, but its power will not be as strong as it is in the birth month, and consequently some common negative aspects and some negative aspects peculiar to the 9 vibration may become part of the personality complex. A 9th birthday could also produce a badly negative Nine if the individual is born in the 9th month. The overloading of this vibration generates an excess of the common negative traits as well as an excess of those peculiar to the 9 vibration, such as bitterness, suspicion, introversion, criticism, hypersensitivity and loneliness.

Besides the matter of positivity or negativity there are the planes of expression to be considered. With a single digit birthday Nine personalities operate on the mental plane along with a strong urge to enter the spiritual plane. They depend on other areas of influence, the birth month in particular, to provide outlets for expression on the emotional and physical planes. Fifteens are in an exceptionally fortunate position in that they cover the physical, emotional and mental planes by virtue of the 1, 5, and 6 vibrations respectively. The spiritual plane is also open to them but not as clearly as for the 9 vibration. Their balanced personality structure formed from the birthday itself does not depend on other areas of influence for support. Different vibrations from these areas increase the versatility of the personality while the repetition of one of the birthday vibrations serves to strengthen that aspect of the personality. Any vestige of negativity in this personality could only have been acquired from a very negative social environment which can be discarded with maturity.

It may appear so far that the Fifteen has definite advantages over the Nine, and this is undoubtedly true. But it cannot be said that this personality is in any way superior to a positive Nine. The Nine personality is formed by the most advanced of all vibrations in the single digit spectrum, thus providing this personality with the most advanced of human characteristics. The disadvantage suffered by some Nines is their exposure to negativity. Most negative Nines who lack self-confidence should understand that this is not the estimate others have of them but how they wrongly value themselves. Some outstanding Nine qualities are wisdom, compassion, understanding, idealism, generosity, broadmindedness, sensitivity, honesty, uprightness and forgiveness. Nines are intuitively aware of their spiritual nature and of the oneness of all living things. Supported by these superior attributes Nine personalities take on an international outlook, disregarding all artificial and superficial barriers of race, religion or cultural differences which inhibit the lifestyle of many other personality types. These superior qualities make the Nine a full-grown individual whose thought processes are a step ahead, in humanitarian terms, of most people with whom they interact.

When compared with the Nine a Fifteen is a younger personality in the sense that they have not yet reached the heights of wisdom of the Nine. They are, however, not too far behind as all Fifteens are fundamentally Six personalities (1 + 5 = 6) who are mentally oriented and known for their rational, logical and balanced mode of living. Six and Nine individuals are exceptionally successful partners as egotism and ego-centredness do not interfere with the establishment of a harmonious and selfless relationship. However, Fifteens are not straightforward Sixes such as those born on the 6th day. They are qualified Sixes heavily influenced by the 1 and 5 vibrations. These vibrations greatly strengthen the personality of the Fifteen and in doing so increase the ego strength of the personality. Compatibility between a Nine and a Fifteen/Six will not be as automatic as that between a Nine and a plain Six. A little effort needs to be made by both partners in order to balance the process of giving and taking. The Nine needs to understand and appreciate the vibrant, energetic, dynamic and extroverted nature of the Fifteen, and the Fifteen, in turn, needs to realise and draw from the Nine’s wisdom, understanding and broadmindedness. Adventure, exploration and experience of the physical world and the enjoyment of physical pleasures will be among the foremost desires of the Fifteen. Nines, for the most, part are drawn into cultural, humanitarian activities and the investigation of metaphysical realms. They are at their best in conditions which offer satisfaction to their aesthetic sense and at their worst in conditions of crudeness and baseness. Fifteens are at their best when life offers the maximum of challenges and at their worst in conditions of boredom and inactivity. An interchange of their values and desires which will greatly enrich this partnership can be confidently expected as Fifteens will be altered by the influence of the Nine to the truth that there is a great deal beyond purely physical life, while the Nine knows that physical life and its pleasures are an essential part of the great scheme of things.

Due to their multi-dimensional nature Fifteens need to exercise a good deal of control over their environment. If prevented from doing so in any situation they soon lose interest and enthusiasm. In an intimate relationship they would spontaneously take the leading role. While often challenged by partners of a similar nature they are not likely to be challenged by a Nine provided they abide by certain conditions. Nines need to be free from strong ties or free from the arbitrary authority of others. Their form of leadership is set by example or exemplary living and not by authoritative or manipulative ways. They look towards equality rather than superiority or subordination. As long as Fifteens respect these characteristics of the Nine they would be allowed considerable leeway in decision making. The fundamental 6 aspect of the Fifteen will sooner or later respond to the Nine’s call for equality and unity in all matters. This is also the truly domestic side of the Fifteen which is not present in the Nine unless they are born in the 6th month. Fifteens may divide their loyalties between work and family as well as keeping some portion of time for themselves. Nines could lose their sense of proportion and spend more time than necessary at one of their favourite undertakings. Self-generated stress could become a problem with a Nine.

This is a socially active partnership. Both enjoy observing and experiencing as well as being active participants in a social scene. Their social interaction will be a matter of quality rather than quantity. However, when there is need to do so the Fifteen could handle less favourable situations with less inner disturbance than the Nine. In the popularity stakes the Nine may have a slight lead over the Fifteen as they take pleasure in helping others enjoy life. They are always ready to shelve their own troubles and listen to people’s hard luck stories, as their association with people is very seldom a means to their private ends. Fifteens may not be as patient and compassionate as they expect people to help themselves. However, when the 6 aspect of their personality is evoked they could turn out to be excellent confidants and counsellors.

Nines and Fifteens are not restrained in oral expression or body language although there are certain differences in articulation. Nines are leaders among those people who make conversation easy and harmonious. Differing degrees of charm and charisma accompany their speech. They do not intrude their presence or opinions on others, patiently awaiting their turn, and when they choose to speak they command an audience without visible effort. They are cooperative conversationalists who avoid argument or controversy. In the background of their personality Fifteens possess similar traits, however, these are obscured by those traits that are dynamic, enthusiastic, impatient and argumentative. There are very few topics they would not discuss or debate, although their Nine partners would often guide conversation away from controversial matters. By and large, however, conversation between these partners will be rich and varied and replete with good humour. The only exception will be seen in a partnership, with a painfully negative Nine, as such a partner would be constantly critical, sarcastic and generally inhibited in speech.

These are partners who believe in sharing their experiences. Travel will be one of their greatest pleasures. As genuine wanderers rather than tourists with limited time, they make an effort to merge with the locals wherever they travel. Their journeys will be a total experience covering the natural features, the bright lights and cultural sectors of the places they visit. At other times Nines may engage in pursuits that are divorced from the physical and allied to humanitarian, spiritual and mystical matters while Fifteens take up some of the challenges offered in outdoor physical activity. In addition, a mutual interest in their hobbies can be expected especially in their social and cultural activities. While Nines may possess keen perception of life beyond external appearances Fifteens are observant and alert to their physical surroundings. Fifteens have a greater capacity to enjoy physical life while Nines have a greater capacity to enjoy metaphysical life. This is a healthy situation which can be merged to their mutual advantage, without the partners crowding each other. Fifteens will let their Nine partners know exactly what they need and when or what they are ready for. They are fond of rationalising their actions while Nines deal more with sentiment and compassion. Once again the only exception to compatibility will be a situation when a strongly negative Nine is involved. The reaction of this Nine to their self-deprecation is to blame and criticise others and circumstances. An effort to get close to them will be met with suspicion.

In money matters the Nine will be inclined to spend rather freely and impulsively. Although the Fifteen is also a good spender they are able to exercise caution when important expenditure is involved. Nine partners will acknowledge the Fifteen’s flair to drive a good bargain or business deal.

All men and women are born with different combinations of innate characteristics and potentialities, and their complexity varies according to their birth dates. The birthday itself forms the basic personality structure while the birth month and year contribute secondary aspects. The greater complexity of individuals with multiple digit birthdays becomes evident when matched with those having a single digit birthday. Matching a pair of single digit birthdays and examining the degree of compatibility is always easier than the examination of a single and multiple digit birthday, or two multiple digit birthdays. The personality formed by a single digit birthday invariably expresses the characteristics and potential, in concentrated form of a single vibration while that formed by a double digit birthday is usually a compound of three vibratory forces. It is not always easy to establish a harmonious relationship when one partner conforms to a relatively clear-cut lifestyle and the other displays considerable variation and flexibility. However, there are some single/double digit combinations that can harmonise without difficulty. This happens when the integral nature of the double digit personality is generally in harmony with the concentrated nature of the single digit individual. The 9th and 16th birthday combination is one of these fortunate combinations.

The matter of positivity or negativity is another factor that enters into this or any other combination. A positive personality structure in both partners will ensure success while negative attitudes in one or both will create an upstream battle so that the degree of compatibility cannot be easily foreseen. Common negative traits are indicated by a lack of self-confidence, unreasonable fear, indecision, dependence and poor self-esteem. In addition, there are negative traits peculiar to each vibration from 1 to 9. The force that guarantees positivity is the 1 vibration. It should be present in the birthday or birth month in order to have a firm hold on the personality. Its force is not as strong in other areas of influence. To the extent that this positive force is weak will negative traits enter the personality structure. Consequently individuals who do not possess this vibration in the birthday or birth month may suffer from varying degrees of negativity. In the present combination the position of the Nine partner has to be examined. Nines born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months are good positive Nines while those born in the other months would possess a mixture of positive and negative traits. A bad form of negativity will be found in a Nine born in the 9th month. This individual will suffer, not only from the common negative traits consequent to the absence of the 1 vibration, but also from the negative traits peculiar to the 9 vibration, such as suspicion, hypersensitivity, critical and sarcastic speech, extreme self-consciousness, abnormal fear of psychological hurt, loneliness, noncooperation and an attraction to darker forces of nature. Success in any form of partnership can hardly be expected.

Nine and Sixteen partners may be regarded as well matched as their personality traits and ambitions conform closely to one another. The basis on which they will form a close and successful union will be their religious, spiritual and humanitarian attitudes towards life. Their religious/spiritual life could be of an orthodox and conformist form or of a heterodox and non-conformist form. Nine personalities mature very early in life and reveal much innate wisdom as the hallmark of their personality. The positive or near positive Nine is a concentration of qualities and talents such as a far-reaching and compassionate interest in humankind as a whole. With wide and understanding minds they are above all artificial barriers of class, race, religion and cultural differences.

They could be profoundly disturbed by people who display narrowness, bigotry, dishonesty and crudeness. Mature Nines are true humanitarians who are givers rather than takers. Having developed a largely impersonal attitude towards life they are relieved from materialistic drives and ambitions for personal power and fame. However, a troublesome consequence of these high-minded traits is their exposure to unscrupulous persons who often take advantage of their trust, generosity, sympathy and goodwill. They will be safeguarded in this respect by the shrewdness and firmness of a Sixteen partner. Nines may subordinate material and practical considerations to their humanitarian and spiritual directions, but Sixteens will maintain a balance between the two. If they are not cautioned Nines could allow themselves to go off at a tangent, as it were, and let themselves be carried away by one area of activity at the expense of others. A clearly defined field of operation, without permitting one area to interfere with the other, is the natural style of the Sixteen. The Nine’s domestic responsibilities and family togetherness could be unwittingly neglected as a result of their enthusiastic work in one direction. This will not happen with a Sixteen who is propelled by the strongest domestic vibration. Not only has the 6 the most faithful domestic traits it is also the number of balance. No person influenced by this vibration will fall into extremes in any field of thought or action.

Although Sixteens are fundamentally Seven personalities (1 + 6 = 7) they are heavily influenced by the 6 vibration. Furthermore, its qualities are compatible with the 1 and 7 vibrations. There is no inner conflict with the Sixteen as a result of being pulled in different directions by conflicting forces. Along with attachment to home and family other 6 talents are parenthood, companionship, sociability, hospitality, guardianship, teaching, counselling and social service. As a consequence of the coalition of these forces Sixteens lead well organised and well planned lives. All their decisions are based on logical and analytical thinking. Impetuosity is an unknown quality. They would delay action when emotionally disturbed. If there is initial misunderstanding in a Nine/Sixteen relationship it will be caused by the Nine’s general lack of system and the Sixteen’s insistence on orderliness and punctuality. To the relief of the Nine the Sixteen will automatically take charge of most domestic responsibilities. They are quite capable of performing the dual task of homemaker and wage earner. Only a minimum amount of help from the Nine will be expected. Their fair and just form of leadership will not conflict with the Nine’s expectations. However, some Sixteens may be inclined to impose restrictions on the Nine’s desire for relaxation in their homes and their desire for freedom of movement outside home. They may demand a greater contribution towards family togetherness than the Nine is prepared to make. At the same time, other Sixteens should take care not to exclude the Nine from family affairs. Their tendency to take complete charge could have a damaging effect on family unity and the Nine partner’s position as an equal.

As extroverted and open-minded individuals, who do not place many restrictions on their social activities, Nines are able to move in the company of people of diverse social and cultural levels. Sixteens are rather selective in their social contacts as their form of extroversion is not as open and far-reaching as that of the Nine. Much more comfortable among familiar faces in familiar places, Sixteens could reject company that does not fit into the frame of their ethical and philosophical beliefs. Nines seldom feel overwhelmed by crowds, while Sixteens are sooner or later affected by them. As positive individuals Sixteens invariably interact only with positive friends and acquaintances. There is an element of intolerance in their makeup which is not found in the Nine. Nines could extend their stay well into the night during a social call but Sixteens have a strictly limited time before the need arises to get away from the noise and tensions of a crowd to the peace and tranquillity of their home. Once again, it becomes a question of balance as this personality needs to maintain equilibrium between sociability and privacy. The 6 aspect is responsible for their sociability and the 7 for the need for privacy. The 1 gives them the strength of will to preserve this balance.

Nines are able to give oral expression to their thoughts and points of view without much hesitation. Many Nines could develop into fine conversationalists, debaters, toastmasters and public speakers. Sixteens are not particularly vocal people. While many Nines could be long-winded Sixteens give out their thoughts in brief sentences, seldom departing from the central issue. Being quite certain of what they want out of life and how to go about getting it they do not waste much speech in discussion and consultation. Their mental creations are all subject to keen analysis and direct action dispensing with excess of talk. Nines, on the other hand, favour discussion and consultation. They are able to cope with contradictory opinions, disagree agreeably and live with people holding different points of view. They also listen to enlarge their knowledge of things and of human nature. Sixteens are not quite able to do this, as they are more inclined to listen only to others who conform or tally with their own thoughts. However, between Nines and Sixteens there is bound to be a moderate degree of discussion and friendly argument on abstract subjects with greater flexibility and allowance shown by the Nine. However, rising emotions, loud and coarse language will not be a feature of their communication.

Nines gain real fulfilment by devoting their free time to religious welfare and humanitarian enterprises. Sixteens will not be far behind. In addition, Nines will engage in any pursuit that liberates them from material and worldly affairs, and go in search of cultural and spiritual enlightenment. Once again, the Sixteen will be abreast of them in the enjoyment of the more refined pleasures of life and their quest for the meaning of life. An empathy with each other’s thoughts will enable them to live at about the same rhythm and thereby greatly enrich their non-working hours. Good literature, music and art will be among other interests that will expand their minds with inspired and enlarged perspectives.

The one aspect of life in which their thoughts and actions diverge considerably is the financial side. Nines could vary from generosity to impulsive and irresponsible spending habits. In their hands money generally goes out as fast as it comes in as they do not measure success or security in terms of money or valuable possessions. Their thoughts are too abstract to worry about accumulating and preserving material wealth. They are also impressionable people and their surroundings have a strong effect on their moods, and these moods, in turn, have an effect on their spending habits. Sixteens, on the other hand, are prudent and responsible money managers. Financial security is essential to their wellbeing. The Nine’s impulsive spending on sudden desires is quite alien to the nature of the Sixteen. They are deliberate buyers and wise investors. While fast-talking salespersons could sell successfully to a Nine they get nowhere with a Sixteen. The financial side of this partnership should be held firmly in the safe hands of the Sixteen.

In conclusion, it may be said that these are partners who can maintain a close relationship without crowding each other. More often than not their feelings are expressed in kind and thoughtful action rather than in an excess of words and demonstrative body language. Each possesses the ability to see through and feel through the inner life of the other.

Powerful vibrations are mobilised in this combination of birthdays. Consequently, the relationship will be formed by two strong personalities. The inevitable conflict that can be expected between a pair of strong personalities will, however, be minimised as the strengths of these partners lie in different directions. What will take place sooner or later will be a mutual admiration and merger of their respective strengths.

The strength of the Nine partner is derived from the concentrated qualities of wisdom, human understanding, compassion, forgiveness and the ability to put the past behind, and rebuild a lifestyle shattered by circumstances beyond their control. In addition, there is a marked absence of inferior traits such as envy, jealousy, spite and malice. A global outlook on life tempered by a firm belief in the brotherhood of all races and generally a high state of mental and spiritual attainment are other qualities. The combination of these traits generates their greatest strength which is a non-attachment or non-enslavement to material wealth, personal power and egoistic habits. In their day-to-day contact with others, they come across as men and women of goodwill. However, not all Nines reach these elevated heights as a natural sequence of their birth force. Some possess the inner urge to do so and acquire a good measure of success, while a small minority remains as failures and display directly opposite personal traits. The force that determines these variations is the 1 vibration which empowers an individual to give positive expression of the qualities of the birthday. Nine personalities having this number in their birth month should be able to use the full potential of their birth force. Failure to do so can only be attributed to an adverse economic, cultural and family background. The 1 vibration found in other areas of influence would produce a variety of Nines in terms of positivity or negativity. To the degree that positive attitudes are wanting will negative attitudes be found. Nines born in the 9th month are overloaded with attributes of the 9 vibration which automatically turn towards its negative aspects. A rather extreme form of negativity will be found in these individuals. Standard negative traits are loss of willpower and individuality, lack of self-confidence followed by poor self-esteem, indecision, unwarranted fears and loss of leadership qualities and ambition. In addition to these standard negative traits some negative qualities peculiar to badly negative Nines are loss of direction, hostile attitudes towards the world, suspicion, rash judgment, extreme sensitivity, misunderstanding and bitterness.

The strength of the Seventeen lies in the multiple construction of their birth date, as well as the presence of the 1 vibration in their birthday. Standard or common negative traits should not be a part of the personality structure, nor can an overloading of the qualities of a single vibration take place. In the event of a suppressed childhood resulting in some loss of confidence the natural strong personality will emerge with maturity when the individual is free of such influences. Three of the strongest vibrations with several compatible features combine to form the seventeen. Consequently, there is no inner turmoil as a result of conflicting inner forces dividing the personality. The Seventeen is fundamentally an Eight personality influenced by the 1 and 7 vibrations (1 + 7 = 8). The 1 aspect provides, among other things, independence, initiative, leadership, decision, willpower and strength of purpose. The 7 creates a special individuality distinguished by a degree of aloofness, a need for privacy and silence, an attraction to the abstract, non-material and non-physical aspects of life and the capacity to undergo hardship in times of want. An urge to delve deeply into the soul of things invariably curtails many of the material ambitions of the 1 aspect. The 7 vibration is so intense that it automatically influences the 8 aspect as well by placing limits on this force. The 8 vibration on its own creates a one-pointed drive towards personal power and achievement in the world. It is an escalation of the ambitions of the 1 vibration. While the 1 is the leader and originator, the 8 is the organiser, administrator and builder. The strength of the Seventeen does not always work favourably in close interaction with others. Their main problem is intolerance of the opinions and independent actions of others if they do not match their own. Intolerance and impatience extends also to those who do not measure up to their level of rational thinking. Consequently, Seventeens suffer from a good deal of self-generated frustration which is transferred to others by many critical, precipitate, inflexible and dogmatic attitudes. A subordinate role will be alien to their nature while equal partnerships will be traumatic. ln a personal relationship a Seventeen would unconsciously assume an authoritative position. If their attitudes are not softened, incompatibility will be inevitable when matched with an equally authoritative and dogmatic partner.

Nine/Seventeen relationships will see the Seventeen partner emerge as the leading decision maker, particularly in business matters. They revel in money management and the general organisation of living conditions. Their expertise is such that the financial position of the partnership will be safe and prosperous. A Nine partner will be genuinely appreciative of these talents and will happily surrender this responsibility. Despite this arrangement a certain amount of disagreement and resentment will be unavoidable if the Nines do not keep a check on their spending methods and the Seventeens do not relax their vigilance on the Nine’s spending. Nines know that they are generous spenders. Unlike the Seventeen, they are impetuous buyers who do not always look for full value for money spent. While the nature of the Nine’s generosity could often be careless, that of the Seventeen is always measured and judicious.

Neither the Nine nor the Seventeen is cut out for a domestic way of life. Both will be drawn to the public arena. Nines excel as professionals who enjoy a wide contact with people. Seventeens succeed as professionals as well as business persons. Their field of operation does not have to be as wide as that of the Nine in terms of human contact. Although both may choose careers in public life they do not extinguish an inner pull away from the greed for power and material attachments they encounter in this scene. They usually compromise by choosing careers which minimise such encounters. In addition, they take to interests in their spare time which cater to their spiritual and intellectual urges. Involvement in domestic cares may not be one of these counter-balancing measures. Nines may feel caged in when confined to domestic responsibilities, and Seventeens, despite their methodical habits, may not be willing to take up the day-to-day chores of a homemaker. Cooking on a daily basis will be one of their problems as neither has the patience to spend much time in the kitchen. Help from a third party in daily household tasks will be the best solution. An exception to this situation will be one in which the 6 or 4 are vibrations present in the birth month of one or both of these partners. These are good domestic vibrations which would provide a good balance to the partnership.

The Nine partner is most likely to be the organiser of their social life. With the exception of badly negative Nines most others are socially extroverted individuals who are known widely for their capacity to entertain. A great part of their attraction is the result of an expanded ego, a natural understanding of human nature, a natural sympathy for the problems of others and a mature sense of humour. They are well qualified to offer a patient hearing and responsible advice when called upon to do so. Most Nines enjoy a quality of personal dignity which acts upon the atmosphere of any scene they enter. Seventeens are relatively private people who can only handle strictly controlled volumes of social activity. Their need for solitary interests far exceeds their need for interaction with others, and the former need increases with age. On the other hand, the Nine’s need for social interaction increases with age. However, when Seventeens do engage in social activity the great part of their attraction comes from an air of mystery that surrounds them. While they feel no need to share their intimate thoughts they often find themselves as the receptacle for the problems of others. This is a feature they share with the Nine. They do not, however, show the same degree of patience and understanding as the Nine. While Nines could be popular club members Seventeens withdraw from most club activities unless they are in administrative posts behind the scenes. Despite these differences the social life of this couple should be without any real problems. They would sooner or later strike a balance between sociability and privacy.

Fluency of speech is a special attribute of the Nine, but this wonderful gift is not abused. They do not turn into incessant or boring talkers or indulge in irrelevant small talk or juvenile humour. An attentive audience is never wanting when Nines decide to voice their opinions. This is due, not only to the urbane and sweet-flowing quality of their speech, but also to the sincerity and honesty that accompanies their pronouncements. They may be inclined to embellish their accounts of events, but intentional falsehoods are contrary to their nature. Seventeens do not possess the same degree of fluency, yet do possess in the same degree all the other qualities of refinement and honesty. Where they differ from the Nine is in their ability to reduce a problem to its essentials by using the minimum of words to convey their thoughts. They will not be found adorning their speech with colourful extensions. In mixed company they prefer to listen and speak to one person at a time, where Nines could communicate with several people at the same time. Seventeens use authoritative body language with a ring of credibility in their speech. Nines use dignified body language with an equal degree of credibility. In their interaction with each other Nines enjoy verbalising their intimate thoughts whereas Seventeens seldom find the need to do so. An effort will be needed by the Nine to draw out the Seventeen at appropriate moments when they desire intimate communication. However, communication between these partners will be always stimulating and enlightening with humour used often as a beneficial means of settling differences of opinion. They are not individuals who indulge in prolonged or needless argument or crude language. Although oral communication will be unrestrained, telepathy will take an important place as an alternative means of communication. There is an intuitive wisdom in these partners by which things are known without recourse to discussion or explanation.

Although these partners may have slightly different objectives in public life they can be comfortable and at ease with each other in their recreational activities. They are generally non-competitive people who may not spend too much time and energy in highly competitive body contact sport. Most of their holidays will be spent off the beaten track and in educational travel. The zest for knowledge in human cultural development, in metaphysics, mysticism and comparative religions will greatly enrich and advance their wellbeing. Beginning and constantly adding to a library of esoteric literature and good music will be one of their most enthusiastic pastimes. If one partner has delayed tapping into the zest for knowledge due to an adverse background the other will certainly evoke it sooner or later. It will be most unusual that a situation will arise in which both partners are not awakened to the truth that life offers much more than physical pleasures. Another shared hobby will be gardening as both are nature lovers who love to see things grow and who enjoy meditative pleasures in natural surroundings.

A pair of Nine personalities are linked in this combination of birthdays. The similarity, however, cannot be taken much further as the personality of a person with a single digit birthday could differ considerably from that of someone with a multiple digit birthday. This is certainly the case with Nine and Eighteen personalities. The personality of the Nine individual is formed by the concentrated qualities, of the 9 vibration with some degree of influence from the vibration of the birth month. This creates a relatively straightforward Nine, while the individual born on the 18th is a qualified or restricted Nine (1 + 8 = 9). Basic 9 characteristics are heavily influenced and often relegated to the background by the qualities of the 1 and 8 vibrations operating in the forefront of the personality. These are not only powerful vibrations but are also forces that do not have much in common with the 9. The vibration of the birth month, unless it is the 9th month could be responsible for further disparity. Consequently, Nine and Eighteen partners, for the most part, will form a partnership of opposites. Some fundamental similarities will certainly be evident and these can be built upon with a view towards mutual understanding, tolerance and wise usage of their differences. This can be done with a positive approach and the chances are that both, in their own way, will work towards establishing a peaceful and prosperous union.

Another factor to be kept in mind when considering the degree of compatibility in a relationship is the strength of ego that is present in each partner. The larger the ego the more adamant, inflexible and self-opinionated will be the personality, while a modulated ego presents a more accommodating and adaptable personality. Most Nines belong to the latter category and Eighteens to the former. The direct result of this difference is seen in the Nine’s ability to handle interpersonal associations with greater ease and the Eighteens ability to handle life’s wider problems, particularly in competitive public life, more effectively. Conversely, Nines are non-competitive people and less aggressive in public life while Eighteens are not as open and approachable in their interaction in private and social life. The Nine is essentially a humanitarian and the Eighteen is an administrator and business person concerned with material advancement in the world.

In order to adopt a positive attitude in life, both consciously and unconsciously, one has to be gifted with an essentially positive personality structure. As nature cannot contain a vacuum it will be found that to the degree that positive qualities are lacking will negative qualities enter the personality. The range of birthdays from the 1st to the 31st combined with the birth months from the 1st to the 12th creates a great variety of personalities in regard to the degree of positivity or negativity. The force that produces the proportion of positivity and consequently eliminates in like measure, the proportion of negativity, is the 1 vibration. When this vibration is found in the birthday positivity is assured, and when it is found in the birth month such attitudes are strong, but not always as strong as in the birthday. In the present birthday combination it will be seen that Nines born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months will be able to express their inherent 9 characteristics in positive ways. Other Nines will have a mixture of positive and negative traits. How this mixture will be formed will depend on the presence of the 1 vibration in other areas of influence and in the other numbers of the birth month. There can be no doubt concerning the positivity of the Eighteen. The presence of the 1 vibration in the birth month as well will only enhance their positivity.

Normal positive traits are self-confidence, self-esteem, decision, authority, leadership, independence and strength of purpose. Common negative traits are loss of confidence, insecurity, poor self-esteem, indecision, dependence, loss of direction and poor willpower. In addition, there are negative traits peculiar to each vibration. Some negative traits of the 9 are suspicion, bitterness, misunderstanding, rash judgment, ill-temper, intolerance and sentimentality. Nines born in the 9th month may be subject to many of these negative traits due to an overloading of 9 qualities and a blocking out other balancing traits.

Some well known positive characteristics evident in the Nine and slumbering in the Eighteen are human understanding, compassion, internationalism, freedom from greed, the ability to enjoy material and physical luxuries while not becoming slaves to them, consciousness of a spiritual basis to all life and a zest for knowledge in all areas of human advancement, particularly along cultural and spiritual lines. Although these positive 9 traits may lie dormant in the Eighteen creative traits common to the average Nine are not part of their personality structure. The 1 and 8 components of their personality are much too strong to entertain any such elements. However, frustration could be a self-generated problem when they encounter people who do not measure up to their standards of efficiency.

There is no doubt that the Eighteen will automatically take responsibility for making the major decisions, especially in monetary affairs such as investments, purchase of homes, motor vehicles, overseas holidays and educational expenses. The leadership and organisational abilities of the combined 1 and 8 aspects of this personality cannot be held back. They will also be put to the personal advantage and advancement of the Eighteen in public life and, in turn, rebound favourably on the welfare of the family.

Eighteens become restless and rebellious in subordinate positions. A Nine will not attempt to overrule an Eighteen or challenge their authority. Not only do they know that it would be very difficult to do so, but that it is also not in the nature of the Nine to take up a dominating position. They favour equal partnerships in which each partner is allowed freedom of movement. They do not yield their individuality, nor do they call for the surrender of any part of the individuality of another. Eighteens, however, may make certain attempts to erode some of the individuality of their partners if they are not checked in time. While Nines prefer to suggest rather than instruct, Eighteens take the opposite course. Nines would accept the leadership of the Eighteen as long it is done in moderate and considerate ways. Any attempts to restrict their freedom or stifle their individuality will be resisted, and this may be done by evoking the inherent wisdom of the Eighteen. Nines favour the gradual development of the whole human personality rather than successful advancement in one major department of life. Eighteens may favour achievement in public life and usually become excellent providers, but they often do so at the expense of all-round personal development and even at the expense of family togetherness. In their compelling desire to get along in life Eighteens could at times become brash and impetuous in their actions and such actions could upset the tranquillity of family life.

The poet Kipling’s ideal to talk with crowds and keep your virtue, or walk with Kings yet not lose the common touch – can be applied to these partners. While neither individual is subjected to a crowd mentality they can move in all social levels and make an impact on any situation in which they find themselves. Individual differences certainly exist. Nines exercise a gentle and circumspect approach in their dealings with others while Eighteens use a robust and empathic manner. Social popularity will be won by both methods. Nines, in particular, are able to shelve their own troubles and listen patiently to the troubles of others and offer responsible advice. They do not intrude their presence or their opinions on others. It is these qualities that account for their possession of a varied circle of loyal and admiring friends. Eighteens are inclined to show impatience with the sentimental problems of others as they too could have sentimental problems which they keep carefully concealed. However, they are always ready to help people with their practical problems. They soon become known for their sound practical knowledge and willingness to help those in genuine need. But they are also known for their intolerance of people who are not prepared to help themselves. While some may take advantage of the Nine’s services and generosity, very few, if any, will be successful in taking advantage of an Eighteen. They may also show impatience with those less energetic and able than themselves while Nine’s show patience and understanding. It will be these differences that will result in the Nine having a wider circle of friends and acquaintances while Eighteens retain their popularity within a smaller circle. By and large, however, a very enjoyable social life will be led by these partners.

Positive and near positive Nines are among those few who make conversation easy and harmonious. People feel at ease in their company. When they sense a Nine’s vibrations they know that there will be no competitive situations, no heated argument produced by egoistic attitudes and no petty-minded criticism. This makes them relax and open out, thus creating a healthy exchange of views. This is not a situation that will be created by a badly negative Nine who is a very poor communicator. Only wanting to give out their own points of view which are invariably negative they are usually left alone. Eighteens are not usually talkative types. While fluency of speech and a colourful imagination are not obvious talents, accuracy of speech is a definite asset. While Nines enjoy discussing a subject at some length and often digressing, Eighteens reach the heart of the matter immediately and then consider the discussion closed. With a flair for forthright action they would rather get on with a job than spend too much time in discussion, nor do they enjoy discussing abstract topics which is one of the Nine’s special pleasures. Of course, there are the exceptions, and some Eighteens can be drawn into abstract areas of interest if they have been positively influenced by someone they love and admire. People who are uncertain of themselves find the Eighteen somewhat awesome and usually close up in their company, or just agree with them. Eighteens are impressive and powerful speakers on matters connected with their public life. The truth is that the power to express their thoughts, especially in private life is present in both partners, but in the Nine it is unhindered while in the Eighteen it is held back. Intimate contact with a Nine may help release much of the Eighteens reluctance to open out.

Recreational activities and other hobbies taken up by these partners will also reveal individual differences. Nines are generally non-competitive people who devote themselves to the evolution of their own personality along with a desire to help their fellows. They consequently follow any pursuit that frees them from the material and competitive world and opens into the cultural, religious and mystical aspects of life. Younger Nines often find fulfilling outlets in international projects, as probation officers or similar community oriented schemes, while older Nines volunteer for work in charities, hospitals and churches. The physically energetic nature of the Eighteen drives them into competitive sport as participants in their younger years and as administrators and coaches in their more mature years. Many Eighteens are high achievers who often find themselves involved in power struggles and, as a result, become too absorbed in their careers or recreational responsibilities. They find it very difficult to switch off and relax at the end of a day’s work. It is essential for their general wellbeing and family togetherness that they take up a hobby that is home oriented or totally different from anything to do with their public activities. The influence of a Nine partner will be of considerable benefit as it will help awaken the Eighteen to the reality that no vocation can be as great as being or working towards being a whole human being.

The powers of the Eighteen come to the fore in all financial matters. Management of the couple’s monetary affairs will be taken over by this partner not only for their expertise in accounting and administration but also due to the Nine’s laxity or indifference towards good money management. As Nines do not place much store on a strictly material way of life their concern for prudent handling of money is much less than that of the Eighteen. This becomes evident in their generous and impulsive spending habits. Also, their natural generosity and trust, which are off-shoots of their non-attachment to pure materialism, may be abused by unprincipled people. This cannot happen with Eighteens who are not ungenerous people. Rather, they are individuals who are alert to those who make it a practice to use others for their selfish ends.

In conclusion, it may be said that these partners can certainly adjust to each other’s characteristics and idiosyncrasies without surrendering much of their own. It is possible, however, that the Nine may go a little further than the Eighteen for their partner’s happiness and for the sake of a happy union. Self-surrender may be a little more difficult for the Eighteen especially at the earlier stages of their relationship, however, they would begin to yield much more with maturity. By this time they would have discovered that there is no danger or risk to their individuality in giving in at times to a Nine partner as a healthy respect for the many superior qualities that the Nine has developed.

The first step taken when examining a combination containing a single digit and a double digit birthday is a preliminary analysis of the multiple digit birthday. In the present combination the 19th day, despite the prominence of the number 9, creates a One personality (1 + 9 = 10 = 1). The number 1, or the 1 vibration, operates along with the 9 in the forefront of the personality. It also operates at a fundamental level, and it is this condition that makes the Nineteen a One personality. This is seen by following the basic rule of Numerology Compatibility and reducing the multiple digit to a single number.

The individual born on the 9th day, who is a straightforward Nine personality meets in this combination a strong One personality. However, the association will not be quite the same as that between a One personality born on the 1st or 10th day of the month as the 9 vibration influences the Nineteen/One in many additional and beneficial ways that are not seen in the clear One personality.

Some positive qualities of the 9 vibration found in a concentrated form in the Nine individual are, maturity, wisdom, understanding of human nature, forgiveness, compassion, open-mindedness, spirituality, freedom from prejudice, generosity, internationalism, humanitarianism, breadth of vision and a zest for knowledge within the abstract realms of life. Naturally, not all Nines epitomise all these eminent qualities as well as several others. However, the potential to do so lies within all Nines, and the degree in which they use their potential will depend on the degree of positivity in the personality structure of each and on the individual’s family, cultural and economic background. Negativity in a Nine is seen in a loss of confidence and the ability to make firm decisions. Strength of purpose is also lacking along with an increase in emotional instability and easily hurt feelings. Badly negative Nines such as those born in the 9th month often take up an aggressive stance as a protective shield. They may also display ill-temper, unfair and ill-judged criticism, sarcasm, suspicion, bitterness, self-centredness and irresponsibility. Once again, the individual’s background will determine how many of these negative traits are openly exposed.

The Nineteen individual will express all the positive qualities of the 1 vibration in the best possible way as the integral personality is infused by the positive aspects of the 9 vibration. As this is not an ordinary One but a more advanced and refined One the chances of a compatible relationship are greatly enhanced. Much of the brash and untreated egotism and ‘I’ and ‘My’ attitudes of the straightforward One have been tempered in the Nineteen, making the individual much more accommodating and companionable. Dominant attitudes of the pure One have been changed to those that are more understanding and thoughtful. A tremendous advantage held by all Nineteens is the assurance of positivity in their integral personality structure. The guarantee of positivity is the presence of the 1 vibration in the birthday or birth month. As the Nineteen has this in double measure in the birthday it is not possible for negative features to intrude. Even a restricted and harmful background will not prevent positive attitudes emerging as soon as young Nineteens free themselves from such influences. Some of the Nineteen’s typical characteristics are self-confidence, decisiveness, initiative, leadership, authority, personal dignity, non-conformist ways, extroversion, individuality and originality.

The leadership role in a Nine/Nineteen relationship will be automatically taken over by the Nineteen. Nines are inclined to postpone and procrastinate while Nineteens get things done and over with as quickly as possible. Nines are inclined to indulge in impractical ideas which will be disregarded by the practical Nineteen. While Nines are not submissive types they will acknowledge the potential and ability of the Nineteen to make instant and firm decisions that would be beneficial to their partnership. Nines believe in freedom of the individual rather than submission or domination. The Nineteen’s role as the decision maker will not be challenged as long as it does not interfere with the Nine’s individuality. In order to preserve their position Nineteens should be conscious of the fact that their Nine partners are mentally and emotionally sensitive to their surroundings, which in turn, has a strong influence on their moods. Nines need the support and trust of those they love rather than their dominance. In these individuals the non-physical and non-material components of their personality are stronger than the physical and material. The Nineteen, on the other hand, is able to embrace values at higher levels without surrendering their materialistic ambitions. The balance between materialism and spirituality is more even in the Nineteen, hence their ability to handle the affairs of the physical world more effectively. At the same time they are able to grasp conceptions that would elude a plain One and so communicate on level terms with their Nine partners.

Nines and Nineteens are not domesticated individuals. They belong to the general public or the world at large. Professional life is best for both, particularly in the caring professions. The international scene is always open to those who care to enter it. Dividing and holding domestic responsibilities will be difficult. This is a typical situation in which the help of a third party in daily chores of housekeeping and cooking will be of considerable benefit.

Nineteens may also take up a more prominent position in social activity. Nines, however, may not be far behind, although they would prefer to say little when their Nineteen partners occupy centre stage. Left on their own they would have a good deal to contribute in social interaction. Nineteens could be more judgmental due to their stronger egos. Nines do not necessarily identify a person with any facet of personality which a particular set of circumstances may reveal. They listen to others not only to broaden their knowledge of life but also to help those who may be in distress and in need of a sympathetic hearing. Nor do they expect people to conform to their ideas of right and wrong. With the exception of badly negative individuals, Nines will always remain socially popular on account of their dignified manner, their willingness to help, their non-competitive ways and their natural understanding of human nature. People feel at ease in their company and consequently, give as much as they receive. However, unscrupulous people often take advantage of the Nine’s generosity and their impressionability. These are dangers that will be safeguarded by a Nineteen partner. Though Nineteens have many fine characteristics also found in the Nine, they possess in addition a strength of purpose and an aura of power that prevents others from even considering making use of them. They are also less patient listeners who prefer to give voice to their own ideas rather than put up with people who do not conform with their own thoughts.

Nature’s gift to both partners is fluency of speech. Nineteens are not backward in occupying centre stage and making use of this gift more frequently. Nines would vary in their degree of eloquence depending on their degree of self-confidence. Their problem is in making a start whenever there is need to address a group or a mass of people. Once they have done so and their higher self takes over, all self-doubt is dispelled and their performance exceeds their expectations. They speak with a tone of sincerity while Nineteens speak with a ring of authority. The element of ego is usually absent in the Nine’s speech, but could be traced in the speech of the Nineteen. In interpersonal communication Nines make an effort to say what will please and not displease or provoke argument. Nineteens may not be as circumspect as they are naturally inclined to freely express their points of view. Nines do not dismiss out of hand ideas that do not fit into their own set of beliefs or lack of beliefs. However, with the Nineteen an act of will may be needed to do so and once this habit has taken hold their efforts to listen will be replaced by spontaneity, as with the Nine. The quality of conversation between these partners will naturally depend on their educational standard. However, regardless of their standard of formal education or self-education, their conversation will reveal a natural yearning for knowledge in the concrete and abstract realms of life, with greater attention paid to the abstract realm as they grow older. Both respond easily to people, colour, sound, atmosphere and natural surroundings. Consequently, they never lack topics of conversation. The influence of the vigorous Nineteen will draw out any reticence in the Nine while the generosity and understanding of the Nine will calm down any impetuous features in the Nineteen.

The strongest common factor between these partners is their desire to consciously steer their evolution, instead of allowing it to drift. Much of their spare time activities will be or should be devoted towards expanding their knowledge of life as a whole. With mutual agreement they should proceed on the basis that there are levels of reality other than that perceived and enjoyed by the senses. Both can embrace spiritual beliefs in which heart and mind combine and in which intuition and reason act together. Alert to the finer things of life by virtue of the power of the 9 vibration they can get in tune with nature and the refinements of human endeavour, especially in art, music and literature. Those who do not go far enough due to lack of education or guidance, experience a longing for something without knowing what it could be. Along with meditative practices and service in public movements and all causes beneficial to human welfare, travel for educational purposes will be one of their favourite holiday activities. The direct benefits received by both from their leisure activities provide them with a strong sense of security and non-attachment to material values.

Responsibility for the administration of the couple’s financial affairs will be taken up by the Nineteen. The Nine’s natural generosity, impressionability and optimism as regards material security will be viewed with concern by the more realistic and businesslike Nineteen. Nines take for granted honesty and high ideals in others and are often let down. Nineteens will make certain that matters do not reach this stage. If there is any real dissension between these partners it could be in this area. Many mature Nines have experienced ups and downs in their financial affairs and are aware that they have always made a quick recovery after set-backs. Nineteens have not known such shifts of fortune through their own irresponsibility, and indeed have no desire to experience them.

In the vicissitudes of life the Nine partner is likely to show greater flexibility and philosophic acceptance of hard times and good times while not being too elated during times of prosperity or being downhearted during times of adversity. They possess an inner awareness that all things pass away. Nineteens do not abide by a philosophical appreciation of life’s ups and downs. They resent bad times and put all their abundant energies into overcoming setbacks to their welfare. Self-pity is not an inhibiting trait in either partner. In their own way each enjoys life and meets the challenges life brings, as both know these are always transient. Bad times are soon forgotten when they bounce back into better times. Self-fulfilment and true compatibility will be achieved when both sooner or later cease to identify themselves totally with their physical bodies and outer egos and begin to identify themselves more with their inner selves. Both possess the potential to do so.

Please refer to the chapter on the 2nd and 9th birthdays. The Zero in the 20th day does not add or take away any features of the 2 vibration. At the most, it may emphasise certain positive or negative characteristics of the Twenty personality.

Please refer to the chapter on 9thand 12th birthdays. The 21st and the 12th days of the month form strong and versatile Three personalities. There is virtually no difference between persons born on these days.

The level of compatibility in any relationship depends to a large extent on the degree of positivity or negativity in the personality structure of each partner. A positive Nine, for instance, will be quite a different person to live with than a negative Nine, and so will be the position with a Twenty-Two. A positive Nine and positive Twenty-Two partnership can be one that is exceptionally compatible, while a negative pair will face a truly uphill battle which in many cases will be lost. However, the chances are that most couples are a mixture of positive and negative qualities which gives them a very fair chance of establishing a successful relationship. There could also be partnerships in which one could be predominantly positive and the other predominantly negative. In such cases the relationship could achieve a good measure of success through the influence of the positive partner. These are patterns that have to be examined when the degree of compatibility between these partners is examined.

The activator or generator of positivity in an individual is the 1 vibration. When this vibration is present in the strongest areas of influence, which are the birthday and birth month, the subject is gifted with a positive attitude towards life. When this vibration appears as the destiny number or is prominent in the name there is usually a mixture of positive and negative traits. Nines and Twenty-Twos born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months belong to the former category while most others belong to the latter. There is a third group which invariably falls into the predominantly negative class. These are Nines and Twenty-Twos born in the 9th month and the 2nd month respectively. The overloading of the 9 and 2 vibrations in each case automatically turns the personality towards badly negative trends.

There is a remarkable similarity between positive and near positive Nines and similar Twenty-Twos in regard to their outlook on life in general. There are also certain marked dissimilarities in their talents. Both individuals are endowed with worldwide perspectives. Their sense of ego or individuality has been refined and expanded by an awareness of a oneness of all life. This could be an unconscious awareness in most younger individuals but sooner or later it becomes a conscious awareness which helps them rise above common forms of prejudice against race, religion and cultural differences. The concept of the brotherhood of humankind has great relevance in their lifestyle. These are people who do not take long to find their feet and feel at home in any part of the world.

Nine personalities function, for the most part, on the mental plane. With minds geared more towards abstract than concrete matters they are attracted to humanitarian, philosophical and cultural aspects of life. They are lifelong students who do not call a halt to their pursuit of knowledge. Manual dexterity is not one of nature’s gifts to the pure Nine. Those who show some practical talents have been endowed with down-to-earth vibrations such as the 1, 4 and 7 in other areas of influence. Most Nines are found in the caring professions and as administrators in religious and relief organisations or in art, music, literature and drama. A sympathetic touch with life on an extended basis is the hallmark of a mature Nine. Younger Nines need to learn quickly, and they invariably do, that life holds more than the pursuit of physical pleasures, material advancement and personal power. Their innate wisdom reveals that real fulfilment will be derived from selfless service rather than self-centred expectations from life. Some other features of the average Nine are generosity, understanding of the imperfections of human nature, forgiveness, honesty and personal charm. Despite these mentally oriented features Nines of both sexes happily indulge in strong sexual activity. This is another factor that adds to their degree of compatibility with a Twenty-Two, as Twenty-Twos are also given to robust sexual activity.

Some negative and self-defeating qualities of the Nine are, indecision, postponement of essentials, sensitivity, susceptibility to fraud or the actions of unscrupulous persons, loss of direction, self-centredness, a tendency towards excessive meditative pleasures and frequent highs and lows in their moods. Those who have not earnestly placed themselves on a path of self-development experience a longing for something without knowing what it could be, and this creates changeability and restlessness in their lifestyle. Badly negative Nines are suspicious, unduly critical, bitter, self-opinionated and ill-tempered. With hypersensitive feelings and a recalcitrant nature they are generally very difficult people to please or get along with.

The positive or near positive Twenty-Two is an advancement on all that is best in the Nine. In addition, they possess a practicality and manual dexterity which the average Nine does not have. The number 22 represents a master vibration which means that those under its influence operate on a vibratory frequency higher than any of the single digits. They are, nevertheless, subject to the same conditions which infect positivity or negativity into their personalities. Positive and near positive Twenty-Twos are practical visionaries and practical idealists. Whereas the mind rules the Nine, the combination of heart, mind and manual attributes rule the Twenty-Two. Their thoughts may be in the clouds but their feet are firmly on ‘terra firma’. The theoretical and practical are well balanced in these personalities. In addition, the drive behind them is stronger than in the Nine. They are also well adjusted emotionally. The practical, material and physical aspects of life may predominate in Twenty-Twos born in months other than the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. Unlike their clearly positive counterparts personal gain becomes the prime motive in life in negative Twenty-Twos. Yet, deep within them there is a yearning for the non-material realms, which can be brought to the surface by the influence of a good Nine partner. Some characteristics that manifest in extreme cases of negativity are greed, hypersensitivity, an obsession for personal power, subjective assessment of persons and situations, intolerance and an overbearing manner. Sexual activity may be frozen or carried beyond normal limits.

These Nine and Twenty-Two partners are not domesticated individuals. They do not feel complete unless they are able to operate within the heart of the community, and beyond when possible. However, as there is no avoidance of certain basic domestic functions most Twenty-Twos will emerge as the practical partner with better capacity for manual labour and a better business sense. Being exceptionally adept with their hands they would prefer to perform practical tasks in and around the home by themselves than leave them to less capable partners. While Nines may rely on others for home maintenance and improvements Twenty-Twos would not dream of giving others such work. They possess unlimited capacity for work and responsibility both at home and in public life. It is inevitable that the Twenty-Two will take over the role of decision maker. They will not accept the dominance of any partner or even a partnership on equal terms. Positive or near positive Twenty-Twos will succeed in this role with a Nine partner, although those with too much negativity, and consequent insecurity, will be too demanding and dictatorial. Nines do not show much interest in a leadership role, but neither will they tolerate interference, dominance or restrictions in a relationship. What they expect is freedom of movement and respect of their individuality. Twenty-Twos who understand this form joyful and enduring relationships and those who do not expose themselves to the certain risk of losing their Nine partners. Negative Nines could be as difficult as negative Twenty-Twos and suffer the same consequences. Just as these positive partners are largely similar and complementary, their negative counterparts are similar and antagonistic.

With the exception of excessively negative individuals these partners are socially popular people. They are, however, not dependent on social popularity being quite individualistic and invariably well ahead of their times. Their unconventional ways may often astonish conservative elements of society. There are certain differences on their impact on people. Nines come across almost immediately as extroverted and friendly persons who make others feel at ease in their company. Twenty-Twos usually project a degree of aloofness which has to be penetrated before one gets to know the personality behind the appearance. Nines, for the most part, project goodwill without effort and without duplicity, but many Twenty-Twos exercise a measure of caution before they open out. Both possess an unconscious air of superiority. They have no need to boost their egos or resort to self-promotion. A good part of their attraction is an aura of wisdom and mystery, along with their desire to learn from others as well as contribute from their own font of knowledge. They combine happily and gainfully in all their social activities and will not be limited to a select circle of friends and acquaintances. Nor will they confine themselves to a familiar round of social life, but will always remain alert to people and situations that are new and exciting and with the potential for expanding their interests.

Communicative skills are not lacking in either partner. As demonstration of emotion is somewhat restricted in both, they need to verbally express their thoughts and feelings. Badly negative individuals excepted, their speech and body language will be governed by refinement and consideration for each other’s sentiments. Social popularity and success in public life will be gained early in life as a result of their communicative talents. All Nines and Twenty-Twos, however, should make an effort to overcome initial hesitation when called upon to address public gatherings. They will soon realise that their fears are unfounded and that they possess the potential to reach heights of oratory in public debate. Badly negative individuals could be cutting, critical and hurtful in speech. They will consistently avoid public debate.

Unlike certain other combinations these couples will not choose individual hobbies or spend their leisure time apart. There is much in common between them that prevents a divergence in their recreational activities. Interests out of home will be more attractive than home based hobbies, especially with the Nine. Both partners are likely to play active roles in various societies dedicated to the promotion of peace and goodwill, and do so on as wide a scale as possible. Their unconventional outlook on life will lead them into groups and fellowships committed to the advancement of knowledge in artistic, metaphysical and mystical realms of life. Both are aware of the need to nurture the non-physical components of their personality. The Twenty-Two, being the more pragmatic partner with plenty of physically constructive energy, will establish a balance between public duties and activities directed towards self-improvement. They would also take up hobbies in which their manual dexterity can be gainfully employed for their own benefit and for the advantage of others. Nines prefer to spend personal time in literature, music, art and in counselling others. Diplomacy, mediation and negotiation are talents shared by both. Travel to the cultural centres of the world will be one of their favourite adventures. They are people who can merge with local populations with greater ease than most. Lack of money will not deter them. They are not types who will wait until retirement and sound financial resources before they take up their travels.

The financial position of this partnership is likely to fluctuate between affluence and adequacy. It is unlikely that there will be a stage when they experience great need as individually and collectively they attract to themselves the good things of life. It is their generosity and free spending habits that could create their lean periods. Nines may be the main offender as these personalities are less concerned with future security. They are accustomed to highs and lows in life. Possessing an inner knowledge that better times are always ahead, they are able to accept life’s reversals with patience. Many Twenty-Twos, especially the not so positive ones, are less optimistic and consequently have greater concern for evenness of their financial position and spending habits. It is possible that this partner will have a greater say in the management of the couple’s money, and investments.

The difference between positive Nines and positive Twenty-Twos and their negative counterparts is seen in those that are positive regarding and evoking the best in each other and in others, while negative individuals see and provoke the worst. The former is compassionate and understanding and the latter, critical and unforgiving. Excess of negativity does not inspire affection, and actually foreshadows real problems while a healthy positivity promises great happiness. In order to preserve their happy relationship positive partners should be careful not to crowd each other. Love will flourish only in individual freedom. Both need to respect each other’s periods of emotional turmoil as in both cases the upward pull of their higher nature often clashes with the downward draw of their physical nature. Until each individual has attained a condition of maturity and stability this is a problem that may affect both partners.

Many colourful descriptions arise when subjects of the 9th and 23rd birthdays are being examined. To say the least, most of these individuals should be extroverted, imaginative, active, vibrant, animated and sparkling personalities. If they are not, then strong negative influences are at work within their personality structures. Their several attractive features, however, are not expressed in similar ways. Consequently, there is a marked degree of divergence in their thoughts and actions, which in turn, creates conditions that could lead to incompatibility if they are not carefully watched. The main reason for this disparity is the maturity and wisdom bestowed by the 9 vibration on the Nine personality and the youthfulness, curiosity and impetuosity of the Twenty-Three, due to the less mature vibrations that make up this personality.

The first important point to be considered in the formation of the Nine personality is the force of a single vibration, and in the Twenty-Three, the combination of three vibrations. The personality of the Nine, being a concentration a single force, is relatively constant and predictable and dwells generally on a set line of self-expression and self-development. The 9 vibration is in fact quite a diversified force, but its diversity is circumscribed within the mental and spiritual realms. For the ability to release or demonstrate emotion Nines must depend on a vibration from the emotional plane (2, 5 or 8) in their birth month, and for manual dexterity on a physical plane vibration (1, 4 or 7). For the most part, however, Nines operate happily and successfully on the mental and spiritual planes.

The Twenty-Three has a complex personality structure. This is basically a Five personality who is heavily influenced by the 2 and 3 vibrations (2 + 3 = 5). The 2, 3 and 5 vibrations forming the integral personality have individual differences, but also a good deal of similarity. Their combination creates an uncertain temperament that cannot be easily labelled as a particular personality type. The emotional and mental realms are forcefully represented in this individual with a significant touch of the physical through the multidimensional nature of the 5 vibration. The 2 aspect contributes warmth, emotion, gentleness, romance, diplomacy, companionship, shyness, indecision and uncertainty. Power with the written word is also a gift of the 2. The 3 vibration adds a powerful imagination, youthfulness, artistry, humour, courtesy, accuracy, ambition, leadership, an exceptionally fertile mind, mental restlessness, changeability and vanity. The spoken word and a cultivated voice are additional gifts. The fundamental 5 aspect of the personality demands personal freedom. This is a shifting and volatile force with very little constancy in its expression. Five personalities, with the exception of those born on the 14th are well known for their restlessness and unnecessary changes in their lifestyle. The basic Five temperament is not helped by the influence of the 2 and 3 in regards to constancy and stability. Nor do they help to control or moderate oral expression. As a matter of fact many Five qualities, both positive and negative, are enhanced by the influence of the 2 and 3 aspects of this personality. The integral Twenty-Three can safely be described as an alert, curious, highly intelligent, versatile, enthusiastic, energetic, adventuresome, unconventional and inquisitive individual. Those born in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th months may be exposed to negative traits such as a lack of self-assurance, lack of punctuality, lack of direction, orderliness and reliability.

A comparison of these brief descriptions of the Nine and Twenty-Three reveals noticeable differences between the two personalities, particularly the maturity and circumspection of the Nine and the youthfulness and spontaneity of the Twenty-Three. They could be classed as opposites whose merger into a close union cannot be regarded as a certainty. As personal freedom is essential to both individuals they will not willingly allow themselves to be ruled, influenced or possessed by their partners. The Nine is not likely to adopt an arbitrary role, whereas a Twenty-Three may attempt to make psychological demands on the Nine.

As many combinations are possible with these birthdays another factor that has considerable bearing on the type and success of a particular combination is the degree of positivity or negativity in each partner. Positive partners naturally have a better chance of recognising their differences and turning them into advantages, while negative pairs will be self-absorbed and oblivious of the fact that they could benefit greatly by an exchange of their different talents. Many superior Nine characteristics will be introverted and distorted in a negative Nine and many excellent attributes of the Twenty-Three will be scattered and wasted in a negative personality. In the event of one being positive and the other negative, both will suffer. The positive Nine’s patience will be severely tested by the self-centred and irresponsible ways of a negative Twenty-Three. The personal insecurity suffered by the negative Twenty-Three will not help them live up to the standards of the positive Nine. A positive Twenty-Three will not have the patience to tolerate many introverted suspicious, critical and bitter attributes of a badly negative Nine, especially one born in the 9th month. With the 9th and 23rd birthdays positivity is acquired automatically by the presence of the 1 vibration in the birth month. It is not as effective in other areas of influence and consequently considerable effort is needed to stay on a positive line of thought and action.

A constant struggle by one or the other to gain a superior or authoritative position is not likely to take place. Nines, in particular, aim for equality rather than a subordinate or superior position. Convinced that all persons are free to exercise their power of choice they do not hesitate to extend this right to their partners, but they do this on the assumption that it will not be abused for self-centred purposes. The same may not be said of a Twenty-Three, especially of one born in the 2nd, 3rd, or 5th month. Personal freedom is more important to the average Twenty-Three than the assumption of a position of authority with its accompanying responsibilities which may tie them down. However, these personalities are natural manipulators who adopt mental and emotional means to coax, cajole or entice others into conforming to their ways of doing things. Their persuasive manner is not easily resisted. Their wants are many and the more negative the Twenty-Three the less control they have over their wants and demands and the greater will be the neglect of certain essential responsibilities. Negative Nines are not without their problems. They are introspective, critical, suspicious and hypersensitive people who are extremely difficult to reason with. They yearn for companionship but become loners due to their inability to cooperate with others.

In general, Twenty-Threes are inclined to identify themselves with their physical bodies and outer egos. Younger Nines may tend to do the same, but sooner or later they arrive at the realisation that there is a non-physical component of their personality and thereafter set out to establish a balance between the physical aspects of life and their inner selves. Also, the difference in disposition between these partners is seen in the ‘We’ and ‘Us’ form of thinking of the Nine and the Twenty-Three’s ‘I’ and ‘My’ attitudes.

Domesticity is not a situation that appeals to either partner. Public life has a much stronger attraction. Unless there is a third party responsible for housekeeping their home will not be anywhere as orderly and regulated as one managed by domesticated individuals or at least by one domesticated partner. Excess of speed, absence from home and commitment to work and other interests may take their toll on family life, unless both compromise on specific domestic responsibilities.

Impelled by their extroverted temperaments both partners will engage in an active social life. But, once again, personality differences may interfere with their chances of keeping the same contacts and activities. Nines, for example, maintain lifelong friendships and prefer the company of true and trusted friends, dependable acquaintances and familiar venues for entertainment. This does not contradict the fact that they are also flexible and adaptable people. It is merely that they prefer lasting rather than passing friendships and these are not usually found in a social life that is too changeable and diversified. They also value their privacy and periods of solitude as much as they enjoy their interaction with people. Due to their flamboyant, inquisitive, adventuresome and restless temperament Twenty-Threes experience real difficulty putting up with the same people and conditions for long. The urge to move on to new experiences becomes too strong. As a result, they seldom cultivate or maintain long friendships. In any social scene they are exceptionally alert, vivacious, and extroverted with a ready sense of humour and quick repartee. They are also good mixes who suffer no inhibitions in their interaction with the opposite sex. Usually the life of the party they motivate people without effort, although they may not be immediately popular with the more conservative and placid types.

Twenty-Threes are among the greatest talkers around, if not the greatest! There would be no need for others to initiate and maintain conversation when this individual is present. Many Twenty-Threes are full of ideas and suggestions that are not as easily put into practice. This could be a problem with their Nine partners as well. Twenty-Threes are impatient listeners who do not inspire others to talk about themselves, yet do not need any encouragement to talk about their own affairs. The Nine personality has not been denied the gift of speech. They are, in fact, capable of reaching levels of eloquence on subjects in which they specialise, but in normal conversation they are well balanced and discreet conversationalists. They are sympathetic listeners who encourage others to confide in them. They may attempt to quiet their talkative Twenty-Three partners from time to time, especially during their need for periods of silence. However, what both do share is a good sense of humour, although the Twenty-Three could be frivolous at times and in situational humour. By resorting to this type of humour they release an excess of enthusiasm, emotion and energy.

The Nine personality sooner or later arrives at the realisation that there are levels of reality other than those perceived by the five senses. Much of their leisure time is thereafter spent in searching for knowledge and pleasure in the metaphysical and mystical realms. There is a strong spiritual streak in all Nines which creates this condition. Some become followers of orthodox religions and others are attracted to unconventional and non-conformist spiritual practices. There is also an intellectual inquisitiveness in all Nines which leads them to the study of art, music, literature, social welfare, and any matter related to human development will be of great significance and interest to them. Their leisure hours are consequently filled with activity. Solitude, which is one of their inner needs, is enjoyed as a rare luxury. While Nines try to achieve a balance between an internal life of self-improvement and an external life of community activity, the Twenty-Three’s lifestyle is for the greater part directed towards discovery and experimentation of the physical, emotional and mental aspects of life. While they may acknowledge that there are non-physical realms, they still prefer to live life fully within the realm of the five senses. They may, at the most, spasmodically associate with their Nine partners in their esoteric pursuits and humanitarian activities, however, what is more important to the Twenty-Three is a combination of physical, mental and emotional activity. Solitude will be looked upon as a punishment. Their tendency is to view themselves as distinct from nature, and is therefore observant and alert to their surroundings. Nines see themselves as part of nature and strive to get in tune with their surroundings especially natural surroundings.

Poor money management is likely to be a problem in this union. Although Nines desire and enjoy physical comforts and are most often connoisseurs of the refinements of civilisation, they do not covet wealth for its own sake, especially in terms of large bank accounts. They spend their money quite freely with a confidence that it will soon be replenished one way or another. Generosity and impressionability are other conditions that contribute to financial ups and downs. Twenty-Threes are not too different. However, while Nines may spend their money on worthwhile purchases and undertakings, Twenty-Threes, especially negative individuals, could be rather indiscriminate and irresponsible in their spending habits. Optimism, impetuosity and self-indulgence are contributing factors. In their hands money goes out as fast as it comes in. One advantage both partners possess is the capacity to earn and attract money, although they do not possess the capacity to save or the determination to invest for the future. Both will accept the frequent fluctuations of their fortunes.

Love between these partners will not flourish except in freedom. Although they may have different objectives in life they can still enjoy and be comfortable in each other’s company. This is so for the reason that they do not see the outside world as a threat and as such, do not depend too much on each other for protection and comfort to the degree that some other couples do. The underlying bonds between them will be strengthened when the Twenty-Three gains in their capacity to give and take, and the Nine adjusts to the Twenty-Three’s desire for novelty.

Welcome signs of compatibility can be seen as the future of this combination of birthdays. As an odd number the 9 symbolises an active masculine force and the 24, as a composition of even numbers, symbolises a receptive feminine set of vibrations. The foundation of this combination will be based on the attraction of opposite polarities. Subjects of these birthdays may be opposites in many ways but their opposite temperaments are complementary rather than opposed and unfriendly. Their several differences will be recognised as reciprocal assets and not as obstacles and discordant features. Needless to say, a happy merger will not take place overnight, but it is certain to have its beginnings at the early stages of the relationship. The process of doing so will be governed by wisdom, commonsense, tolerance and a genuine desire for their common wellbeing, and will be free from aggression, ill-temper, impatience, competitiveness and distrust.

Not all Nines and Twenty-Fours are assuredly positive individuals. This condition will depend on the presence of the 1 vibration in their birth month. This is the driving force that ensures self-assurance and positive attitudes. Those who do not possess this vibration in this important sphere of influence often lack initiative, persistence and confidence in themselves, and consequently neglect to use their full potential. However, this does not necessarily reflect on their ability to form loving relationships. Their problems can always be overcome by the presence of the 1 vibration influencing their destiny or life path, if found in their name, and by proper self-education. An exceptional situation may be experienced with a negative Nine, as an unenviable form of negativity may be present in a Nine born in the 9th month. The overloading of the 9 vibration in the two most creative areas, namely the birthday and birth month, blocks out other counterbalancing influences and creates a generally one-track personality. In all single digit birthdays the repetition of the birthday number in the birth month creates a difficult form of negativity. Specific to the Nine there will be pettiness, suspicion, criticism, lack of cooperation, hypersensitivity and a broad chip on their shoulders. In the negative Nine personality most of the wonderful goodwill which is a special quality of the 9 vibration is often turned into ill will. Subjects of the 24th day escape this condition due to the three sided nature of their personality structure. A repetition of many of the birthday numbers in the birth month does not create negativity as there are two other openings to their personality.

The average Nine is easily identified by a broad understanding mind, innate wisdom, a strong humanitarian outlook on life, the absence of prejudice and parochial and judgmental views. With few self-imposed limitations their outlook on life is universal. The better the educational and cultural background the wider will be their perspectives. They are mentally and spiritually oriented people who do not place much emphasis on accumulation of material wealth and arbitrary power over others. A strong non-physical component of their personality creates a pull towards meditative pleasures. They are able to enjoy the comforts and pleasures of civilisation as well as maintain a degree of detachment from worldly affairs. Unless supported in the birth month by an earthly vibration such as the 1, 4 or 7 they are without many pragmatic attitudes, and manual dexterity would not be one of their attributes. Many of their ideas and plans will be dismissed as non-workable by down-to-earth types such as the Twenty-Four.

The personality of the Twenty-Four is formed by the harmonious blend of three receptive vibrations (2, 4 and 6). Although each vibration represents a different level of expression (2 – emotional, 4 – physical and 6 – mental) there is no discordance between them. Consequently, there is no inner conflict within the integral Twenty-Four. They are well-rounded, self-possessed and composed personalities who are generally easy to get on with. They are non-competitive and non-aggressive people. At the same time they cannot be pushed around or arbitrarily influenced. They are safeguarded in this respect by rational thought processes, down-to-earth values and a healthy streak of stubbornness. They do not impose their will and views on others and expect others to follow the same line of conduct. Friendly discussions leading to mutual agreement is what they expect in a partnership. The Nine’s expectations are the same. Twenty-Fours are also slow to act and react as deliberation on the one hand and a laid-back style on the other, are natural features. This aspect of their personality may conflict with the faster moving Nine and the Nine’s desire for variety and change. A tussle for an outright authoritative position will not take place as Nines hold the same views in regard to preserving their individuality and freedom of choice.

The opposite temperaments of these partners will be displayed most forcibly in the domestic scene. In a nutshell, the Nine is not a domesticated individual and is to a large extent a public figure. A Twenty-Four, on the other hand, can be quite fulfilled in a domestic setting. In addition, while a Nine will not be effective in a dual role of homemaker and breadwinner, a Twenty-Four can succeed in both roles. The great advantage in this situation will be the readiness of the Nine to surrender most household responsibilities, and the Twenty-Four’s willingness to assume control of most domestic duties. The Nine’s home may be the centre but not necessarily the boundary of their interests, whereas the Twenty-Four could easily make home the centre and boundary of their interests. However, these partners will certainly influence each other and modify these tendencies. Twenty-Fours are more orderly in their daily habits while Nines are usually prevented from following a strict routine due to the several outside interests in which they become involved. By and large, Nines belong to professional and administrative life and Twenty-Fours to both business and administrative life. This couple could, however, work together successfully in community activity using their common administrative talents.

The Nine will prove to be more socially skilled, and as such, will assume a more active role in society. A role of onlooker and worker behind the scenes suits the Twenty-Four’s temperament better than the limelight of public attention. They are fond of observing the drama of life without becoming actors in the scene. Social activity outside home will be organised by the Nine and responsibility for home entertainment will be shared equally. Food, drink and other practical tasks will be the preserve of the Twenty-Four while general entertainment will be the task of the Nine. Hospitality will form a good part or this couple’s popularity. However, the Nine should be careful not to overdo entertainment at home as this will not find favour with the Twenty-Four who will place certain limits on home entertainment. Due to the different roles taken up by each, competition for the spotlight will not arise and social success as a couple will be certain.

Except in practical matters the imaginative powers of the Nine exceed by far those of the Twenty-Four. This is revealed in the Nine’s fluency of speech, mental flexibility and conversational skills. The initiator of most topics of conversation will be this partner. The Twenty-Four will respond when matters of practical relevance need to be discussed, but for the most part they remain silent when abstract matters, which are most dear to the Nine, are brought up. Yet, Twenty-Fours could be most argumentative when the mood hits them. Their rational and realistic thought processes on earthly matters prevents expression or discussion on issues which they regard as non-essential or non-applicable to the practicalities of daily life. Nines try to say what will please others and especially not wound the feelings of sensitive people. Being more interested in accuracy than in pleasing, Twenty-Fours could be forthright in speech and offend others unintentionally. They are more attached to their opinions while Nines are open-minded and flexible.

The mental orientation of the Nine and the practical approach of the Twenty-Four will be once again exposed in their choice of hobbies and other recreational activities. Nines are generally attracted to pursuits that free them from physical exertion and competitiveness and tend to open into cultural and metaphysical aspects of life. Twenty-Fours have a less complicated approach. Physical activity and manual tasks will govern their activities. The dominance of their down-to-earth minds obscures intuitive and extrasensory powers which are just below the surface in most Nines. While Nines share a keen interest in other faiths and beliefs Twenty-Fours will show little or no interest in anything outside what they have been brought up to believe. Their different views on life are not likely to interfere with the harmony of their relationship as Nines are not argumentative individuals and Twenty-Fours have to be provoked into argument. As mentioned earlier they accept their differences as assets rather than liabilities.

Nine partners will be relieved of all practical and physical tasks in and around the home. Twenty-Fours, being genuine handypersons, will refuse to employ anyone for any job they know they can do themselves. Most of their hobbies will be home based. A well equipped workshop will be used with delight while a good library of literature and music will be the Nine’s centre of interest. The Twenty-Four will also show an interest in the culinary arts and spend more time willingly in the kitchen than will the Nine. The choice of different interests in their spare time will be to their advantage by giving each other individual freedom of expression. The Nine may be cautioned by the Twenty-Four when they get over-involved in outside interests at the expense of family togetherness, and the Nine may draw the Twenty-Four out of home or from over-attachment to domestic interests. One aspect of their temperaments that will bring these partners together is a mutual desire for social service. Both gain a great deal of pleasure working for good causes, with the Nine as an administrator and the Twenty-Four as a practical helper and counsellor.

At the early stages of their relationship a certain amount of friction may arise in regard to their different attitudes towards money and its purpose in life. Success is not measured in terms of money and financial security in the Nine’s philosophy of life. The Twenty-Four on the other hand, needs a sound financial position in order to feel successful and free from anxiety. As a consequence of these differences Nines are generous, impulsive and often unwise spenders, while Twenty-Fours are cautious, calculating and prudent spenders. One shows little interest and self-control in developing a saving habit while the other has a compulsive need to put aside for the proverbial ‘rainy day.’ The spiritual beliefs of the Nine provide them with a sense of security and detachment from fear of want. Similar beliefs in the Twenty-Four, such as they are, may not be sufficient to overcome this need for security. The Nine in the course of time will need to curtail some of their spending habits and the Twenty-Four will need to overcome to some extent their reluctance to spend freely when the occasion demands.

In conclusion, it may be repeated that despite different objectives and differences in style and method these partners can form a loving and lasting relationship. Their secret will be mutual agreement to retreat into their own space from time to time. Both possess the capacity to enjoy life in spite of minor unresolved problems. Some Nines may be subject to fluctuations of mood which is seldom a problem to the average Twenty-Four. The only occasion a Twenty-Four may show anxiety is when they feel that their security and home life are endangered or if they feel neglected by their partners. They do not find it easy to talk about their intimate feelings and needs, and as a consequence, they often suffer alone. The intuitive Nine should be watchful that their busy lifestyle does not harm the Twenty-Four’s need for family togetherness.

The intriguing feature of these birthdays is that they make a combination of contrasts as well as a combination of similarities. The Nine personality born on the 9th day can be described as partly a people-oriented extrovert and partly as a contemplative searcher after the meaning of life in its widest possible aspects. The Twenty-Five is, by and large, an action-oriented extrovert on the one hand, and an inquisitive student of the nature and destiny of humankind on the other. Younger Nines and younger Twenty-Fives are more inclined to the first part of their nature, but as they mature they establish a balance between extroversion and a secluded lifestyle. Both arrive at the knowledge that the non-physical component of the human personality can more easily be realised and enjoyed in quietude and tranquillity. Due to a less complicated personality structure Nines may reach this condition sooner than the Twenty-Five. Yet at both stages of activity these partners will enjoy a great deal in common and consequently form a compatible relationship with the potential to extract more out of life, as a whole, than do many other couples. The features they do not have in common will, for the most part, be complementary rather than divisive

Having a single digit birthday the personality of the Nine is more concentrated than the individual with a multiple digit birthday. However, the spirit force animating this vibration is the culmination of all forces symbolised by the digits 1 to 8 inclusive. Having experienced all these earlier conditions the qualities manifested through the 9 vibration possess many eminent attributes such as humanitarianism, a broadminded and global outlook on life, the absence of selfishness, self-centredness and egoistic desires and attitudes. A deep sense of spirituality is also an indivisible part of the Nine’s personality. This may take several forms ranging from orthodox to unorthodox beliefs and practices. Positive Nines who operate to their full potential are charming and magnetic personalities who acquire a great deal of abstract knowledge through natural ability. They are admired as open-minded, kindly and learned people who are above any need for falsehood or artificial airs. However, not all Nines are able to reach such elevated heights without effort. Positivity is natural to those Nines who possess the 1 vibration in their birth months as this is the force that ensures confidence, a good self-image and the courage to reach their full potential. Those Nines who do not possess this vibration in their birth months lose a degree of willpower and steadfastness, and develop a tendency towards indecision, self-effacement and loss of drive. These drawbacks can certainly be overcome by a supportive environment and self-education. A Nine born in the 9th month will face more personal problems which will be projected onto those with whom they interact. The overloading of the 9 vibration turns much of the goodwill of this force into ill will as the individual finds it difficult to cope with the tremendous mental images that are created by the overpowering force of this vibration. Bitterness, suspicion, loss of direction, abnormal fear of being hurt emotionally, irresponsibility, irritability, and despondency in varying degrees become the lot of this negative Nine. The sublimated ego of the positive or near positive Nine becomes an exceptionally sensitive ego with a defensive as well as hostile attitude towards the world.

Twenty-Fives have a more complex personality structure. The three vibratory forces that form this personality are not always complementary, and consequently the individual is pulled in different directions, thus creating a certain degree of inner unrest and unpredictability. On the other hand, these are such strong forces, and the individual will be able in time to overcome uncertainties that periodically arise. The three vibrations operating within this birthday actually create a magnetic personality on the one hand and an enigmatic character on the other. The 2 introduces sensitivity, shyness, gentleness, romance and courtesy. The 5 contributes initiative, fearlessness of physical conditions, enterprise, versatility, extroversion, sensual attractiveness, accommodation to change, freedom of thought and movement, curiosity and alertness. The Twenty-Five is basically a Seven personality (2 + 5 = 7). While the 2 and 5 aspects are operative in the forefront of the personality, 7 qualities form the foundation. There is an aspect of mystery about all Seven personalities on account of their reluctance to reveal what goes on in their hearts and minds. Silence and solitude are integral parts of a pure Seven, but these particular aspects will be reduced in the qualified Seven, such as the Twenty-Five. However, the sociability of all Sevens, whether pure or qualified, cannot be taken for granted. Action and activity rather than gregariousness is the nature of this personality. This aspect of the Twenty-Five fits in well with their 5 aspect which contributes to action rather than communication. Social interaction with those influenced by the 5 vibration is not an end in itself, but more as a means to an end – the end being some form of activity. The 2 aspect does not help either as this vibration favours observation rather than participation. The 2 is an emotional and psychic force. The 5 is an emotional and physical force and the 7 is a physical and spiritual vibration. The psychic aspect of the 2 merges well with the spirituality of the 7 while the physical talents of the 5 compliment the physical side of the 7. Conflict may arise between the worldly features of the 5 and the non-worldly features of the 7. Curiosity is a feature of both vibrations – the 5 for the physical world and the 7 for the non-physical world. The 2 aspect, with certain limitations, fits into both.

One of the most favourable features in both individuals which will be conducive to a successful relationship is that neither has an overriding need to be in control or assume an authoritative role. Being in charge is not as important as having the freedom to make their own decisions. There is a possibility, however, that the Twenty-Five, who has more wants and desires, may use their greater persuasive powers to influence the Nine. More often than not they may succeed as the Nine will prove to be the more accommodating partner. By and large, however, these partners can easily keep their relationship very much alive by not crowding each other. The several features they share in common and the mutual respect for each other’s desire to retain individuality should eliminate any danger of dominance, competition or rivalry.

Their social life will be influenced by the open personality of the Nine and the open/shut personality of the Twenty-Five. The Nine will always be the more outgoing and accessible individual. The fact that friends and acquaintances may look upon Nines as wise and knowledgeable persons does not prevent them from feeling comfortable and positive in their company. Nines do not assume false airs and graces which make others uncomfortable. Twenty-Fives are selective of the company they keep. Though by no means unfriendly or unsociable the circle of friends and acquaintances they introduce into the relationship will be considerably smaller than that of the Nine. Their reduced social interaction is due to their physically active lifestyle and a natural desire for privacy and a degree of isolation. They are also nature lovers who derive a great deal of pleasure and inspiration in natural surroundings. As social interaction and periods of silence do not mix easily they may come across as reserved and in some cases as secretive people. It may not always be easy to feel at ease in their company due to their complex nature. They cannot be approached as freely as the Nine, nor do they make friends as easily. However, to those who succeed in getting to know them they will discover that the Twenty-Five is an honourable, generous and loyal companion.

The humanitarian element which drives the Nine into a much wider field of interaction with people is not as strong in the Twenty-Five. However, both individuals seek quality and not quantity in their choice of friends. Following their uninhibited nature Nines emerge as accomplished conversationalists. They are talkers as well as listeners, and teachers as well as students. Positive Nines possess the potential to develop into magnetic speakers on matters relating to human welfare. A knowledgeable and sympathetic touch with life is clearly postulated in the objective views held by them. As they have no desire to impose their views on others they are neither argumentative nor obstinate in conversation. Their innate wisdom enables them to remain silent when confronted with self-opinionated individuals. Twenty-Fives are not as communicative. They are keen students and observers of the physical and metaphysical aspects of life, but do not possess any great desire to communicate their knowledge orally. They may, however, do so in writing. On the rare occasions they do voice their opinions they reveal a good deal in common with their Nine partners. Both partners not only avoid argument but also superficial or frivolous conversation, and both are sought after for their opinions. Communication between them will be on the same mental arid cultural level, thus greatly increasing their mutual development. Periods of silence can be enjoyed whenever one of them is in that mood without the other feeling hurt or overlooked.

Recreational activities favoured by the Nine will invariably involve people. They are attracted to study groups involving meditation, yoga and similar self-development activities. Nines who are more inclined to orthodox beliefs are supporters of their local churches and schools. Literature, music and art are other areas that attract the Nine. They derive greater pleasure from mental activity than from physical activity. Twenty-Fives, on the other hand may choose physical activity ahead of mental activity. The physical energy and adventuresome spirit introduced by the 5 aspect of their personality leads them into competitive sport while the 7 aspect brings out the nature lover. Nines are also nature lovers. However, while the Nine can divide their leisure time and holidays between city attractions and natural surroundings the Twenty-Five will prefer natural surroundings and avoid the tensions of city life. As keen gardeners they could spend much of their time creating natural effects around their home. The beauty of a Nine/Twenty-Five garden will be the result of the Twenty-Five’s enthusiastic labour and the Nine’s encouragement and appreciation. Both will spend many enjoyable moments relaxing among their trees, flowers, fish ponds and aviaries. They are also pet lovers. Their home will have at least one dog and one cat, if not more. However, the Twenty-Five’s hobbies will not be confined to physical activity as the influence of the Nine will sooner rather than later evoke their deeper spiritual nature. The basic 7 aspect of the personality may be to some extent smothered but not extinguished by their attraction to physical activity. Here again, these partners can form a powerful combination in their quest for the meaning of life. Cooperation rather than separation or competition can be the basis on which they spend their quality time.

The ambitions of the Nine do not lie in the acquisition of material wealth. The pursuit of money or making a living is a smaller part of making a life. What they earn is always secondary to their dedication to their public duties. Twenty-Fives are not far behind in this philosophy. While Nines usually have one source of income Twenty-Fives could have more than one due to their versatility and fear of boredom. Between the two a good amount of money could be brought into the family, even though this may not be their principal objective. They are not identical in their spending habits. The Twenty-Five may show more concern for their financial security and, consequently, will spend more judiciously. Nines are generous and often impulsive spenders. The chances are that the Twenty-Five will take over the management of their finances.

Predictable patterns of behaviour cannot always be expected from these partners. Although others may not do so, these partners will soon become accustomed to each other’s spontaneous behaviour. Love for each other will flourish with the knowledge that each has given the other freedom of thought and action, which will be seldom abused. However, they will not need to use this freedom to any great extent as they will be constantly drawn to each other by their mutual interests. They know that as a team they can extract much more out of life than in individual roles. Although neither is emotionally demonstrative both are naturally sensitive to each other’s needs. Being mentally oriented people, Nines are not physically demonstrative. Although the 2 and 5 aspects of the Twenty-Five belong to the emotional plane the reserved nature of the 7 holds back the demonstrative qualities of these vibrations.

Nines and Twenty-Fives are also united by the gift of imagination, and so empathy with each other’s thoughts will develop as the years go by. Extrasensory powers develop quickly between people who love each other.

In this combination we deal with one birthday with a single odd number and another with three even numbers (2 + 6 = 8). There are several differences as a consequence of their opposite polarities and the single digit of one and the multiple digits of the other. Odd numbers generate active and outgoing qualities and even numbers form receptive and nurturing qualities. In addition a single digit birthday produces a personality in whom the qualities of that number or vibration are concentrated, as will be the case with the Nine personality born on the 9th day. The multiple digits of the 26th day are, on the other hand, responsible for a three-sided personality. The characteristics of the 2 and 6 vibrations operate in the forefront of the personality (or in the outer personality) while the fundamental 8 remains a firm force in the background. On casual acquaintance a Twenty-Six individual may be taken for their 2 and 6 features which possess many characteristics in common. However, on further acquaintance, underlying 8 qualities, which are different in many ways to the outer aspects, will be clearly seen.

Nine and Twenty-Six individuals will form a relationship in which opposites may exceed similarities. Opposite features can be complementary or conflicting. Similar features, on the other hand, can lead to an exciting and eventful relationship or a dull and uninspiring union. However, in this instance both opposite and similar features can be made to function to the mutual advantage of the couple. Positive or negative temperaments in each partner are important factors that determine the degree of success. Positive or near positive individuals who self-confidently accept life’s challenges tread an easier path than those with a poor self-image and a lack of self-assurance. The force that ensures positivity, which is the 1 vibration, is not found in either of these birthdays. Positive Nines and positive Twenty-Sixes will be those who possess the number 1 in their birth months. This vibration could be operative in other areas of influence such as the destiny, life path or in the name. Recognition of its presence and conscious use of its self-reliant qualities will help overcome many negative traits. In varying degrees an inferiority complex, dependence, indecision, lack of willpower and easily hurt feelings could be some of their problems.

The average Nine personality lives on the mental plane with strong spiritual, ethical and altruistic links. Ambition for worldly power and material possessions have evolved into aspirations for the finer things of life. Understandably, the better the upbringing of the individual in terms of cultural influences the greater the chances of living to the full potential of the 9 vibration. An international and humanitarian outlook on life is the hallmark of these personalities. They place no limitation on their thought processes which are often followed up by direct and impulsive action. Many of their ideas could be too visionary, impractical and unrealistic and may come into conflict with practical and down-to-earth individuals. There is certainly a mental, spiritual and emotional restlessness in the average Nine which is not easily controlled. As Nines belong to the world at large they find fulfilment in public life as professionals in touch with a diverse selection of people. Their leisure hours and recreational activities are also spent among people. Their open-minded, extroverted and comprehensive mentality creates opportunities in public and social life that are not realised by individuals who are not as expansive. However, their popularity often comes at a price. Over-involvement in outside activity could be self-destructive in the sense that their physical health and family commitments as well as their inner development could be put at risk. Peace and tranquillity which they need becomes nearly unattainable.

Pragmatism is the hallmark of the Twenty-Six. The emotional content of this personality is also quite pervasive, but is also kept in balance by many rational elements. The prime needs of this individual are security in financial, domestic, business and social departments of life. The three vibrations which operate within this multi-dimensional personality are complementary in this respect. Consequently, there is no inner conflict caused by different needs as could be the case with some other multi-dimensional personalities. On the other hand, it may be said that the need for security may be taken too far, especially in partnership with a Nine. The Twenty-Six will have little sympathy with the Nine’s generosity and the Nine, in turn, will find the Twenty-Six’s economy and prudence rather restricting.

The Twenty-Six is basically an Eight personality (2 + 6 = 8). Pure Eights, that is, those born on the 8th day are ambitious, businesslike people who use clear down-to-earth values and practical knowledge to achieve their high ambitions for success in the material world. Qualified Eights such as the Twenty-Six are not far behind although much of the toughness of the pure Eight has been softened by the gentleness and consideration of the 2 aspect and the diplomacy and balance of the 6 aspect of their outer personality. Nevertheless, the Twenty-Six will be seen by the Nine as one dedicated primarily to material welfare as opposed to their own idealism and non-attachment to worldly ambition. However, the Twenty-Six’s secondary nature is not without concern for others. The 6 aspect is close to the Nine’s humanitarian instincts. By means of compromise the Twenty-Six’s ambitions for power and worldly possessions can be turned into aspirations for the finer things of life, while many of the Nine’s unrealistic ideas and impetuous habits can be cured by the Twenty-Six’s steadfastness.

The domestic scene will be a particular area in which clear dissimilarities will be seen. The 9 vibration is not a circumscribed force that can be placed in a designated situation such as domesticity, although such a situation may involve a great deal of responsibility. The 9 force needs to spread outwards in several directions. Consequently, Nine partners are seldom willing to settle down to a domestic way of life. They would expect to share such responsibilities equally with their business, social and other public interests which will not be acceptable to a partner who looks for greater participation in home life. This will be the expectation of a Twenty-Six. The 2 and 6 aspects of this personality are exceptionally strong home-loving and family-oriented vibrations. The 8 aspect draws the personality into public life, but it is also an orderly, methodical and regulated force, and these qualities are not only applied in public life but also in domestic life. The Twenty-Six may find that a Nine partner is not as faithful to routine or dedicated to system and economy. The Nine, in turn, will find the Twenty-Six’s rules and regulations a restriction of their freedom. Some degree of conflict between order and disorder at the early stages of their relationship can be expected. Neither partner will arbitrarily assume a role of leader and decision maker. It is not in the nature of the Nine to assume authority and impose their will on others. A partnership of equals is what they expect, in which suggestions and compromise take the place of orders and authority. While the Twenty-Six may not assume a leadership role their ability to give clear directions and practical suggestions may be interpreted as such. While the Nine is capable of rising above everyday trivialities and seeing a broader picture a Twenty-Six could become committed to their careers and domestic attachments leaving little time for self-improvement. The Nine in this instance can lead them out of self-imposed limitations while the Twenty-Six, in turn, exercises a steadying influence on the Nine’s over-involvement in extra-domestic activity.

Social activities will invariably be initiated by the Nine. Their extroverted and humanitarian instincts release them from the narrower confines of self-interest and create an urge for social interaction in which they play many helpful roles within a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. They make friends easily by showing a genuine and constructive interest in the affairs of others. Their international outlook lifts them above artificial barriers of race, religion or any other man-made social division. A Twenty-Six partner may find the Nine’s extensive social activity somewhat disturbing. They are much less extroverted and adventuresome in social life. More often than not, in a social scene they may choose a passive role as an onlooker rather than one that is active. The pull towards home and domestic felicity after a strong business activity during the day or the week is much more attractive than interaction with others outside home. They are, nevertheless, hospitable people who make good hosts and hostesses, but unlike the Nine, they place strict limits on home entertainment. They do not expose themselves to the contrivances of unreasonable and unscrupulous people who would take advantage of their hospitality. They are also more selective and conservative of their choice of company. Here again, these partners can influence each other positively – the Nine by helping the Twenty-Six break through certain conservative attitudes and the Twenty-Six by curtailing the Nine’s over-involvement in social life at the expense of a fuller domestic life.

Both partners are good conversationalists, but the animated talker will be the Nine as fluency of speech comes easier to this individual. There will be no need for them to invent conversation as both can also develop a capacity to sit quietly and say little. Lulls in conversation need not be an indication of tension or distance between them. They are also natural psychologists who encourage people to talk about themselves, but are able to remain on guard against topics that could cause unpleasantness. They are able to communicate without arousing suspicion, anxiety or uncertainty in others. The Nine especially is too thoughtful to intentionally or unintentionally say anything that could be hurtful. People find it easier to approach and strike up a conversation with a Nine. Nines also possess the potential to develop into memorable speakers, particularly on abstract subjects while the Twenty-Six’s opinions will often be sought after on practical matters, particularly on finance or other business matters. Between themselves, the Twenty-Six could be the more argumentative partner due to the essential rationality of their thought processes. Nines are more tolerant of contradictory opinions and are more conciliatory than argumentative. The only instance when there could be a certain lack of communication between these partners will be in the event of the Nine becoming too absorbed in abstract, metaphysical and mystical realms and the Twenty-Six becoming too absorbed in business matters.

Nurtured in proper conditions Nines quickly develop a spiritual mode of life which operates as an undertone in all situations, particularly in their leisure activities. Other Nines who have not been as fortunate, may take a little longer to awaken to their spiritual nature. Nines are non-competitive people who are seldom attracted to highly competitive sports and body contact games. Being mentally-oriented individuals most of their interests will be in music, art, literature, religious and cultural activities and social service. They are also travellers. Except for travel, Twenty-Sixes are not too different in the way they choose to spend their holidays and leisure time. They are also generally non-competitive people, although the underlying 8 aspect may at times stimulate a competitive spirit. However, they are more inclined to become involved in matters that promote a team spirit rather than individual glory. Their religious and spiritual beliefs will not be too dissimilar to those of a Nine, and although they may not be as deep and wide, their cultural interests could sooner or later match those of the Nine. These partners could easily join forces in almost all their recreational activities. Both are likely to become involved in the lives of others as they make an excellent contribution in social service and as counsellors. A compromise can easily be reached in regard to the Nines urge to travel. Natural surroundings assist the Nine’s spiritual development while a neat and orderly home life provides fulfilment to the Twenty-Six. The chances are that the Nine will spend time in the garden while the Twenty-Six will likely look after home maintenance.

The Nine personality is, for the most part, a soft-hearted individual. While this aspect of their personality acts as an advantage to those associated with them it could often act as a disadvantage to the Nines themselves and their partners, particularly in financial matters and their other material possessions. They could be much too generous and impulsive with money when their emotions are aroused. This is a situation which will not appeal to a Twenty-six. This partner is not so much hard-hearted as cautious and responsible with a natural tendency to play it safe with money matters, whether sums are large or small. Unlike the Nine they are not compulsive spenders or buyers. They are, however, good savers as security is vital to their wellbeing. Fear of the unknown and unfamiliar is a characteristic of this personality, whereas it is not necessarily so with the average Nine. With certain Twenty-Sixes money could dominate their thinking, leading to inevitable friction with the generous Nine. To the Nine, life holds more than the accumulation and attachment to worldly goods. The best solution to money problems between these partners is the submission of the Nine to the Twenty-Six’s superior management capacity while the Twenty-Six takes care that the Nine is not disadvantaged by their cautious ways.

Nines are flexible and forgiving by nature with a greater capacity to cope with complexities and changes in life. This will assist them in making adjustments in a complex relationship, and such adjustments will usually be made without surrender of their personal freedom. Twenty-Sixes are more rigid in their views of right and wrong and consequently find it more difficult to compromise or adjust to the point of view of someone else. There is a contradiction in the integral Twenty-Six in that they, on the one hand, possess qualities of compromise, and on the other, a strong sense of authority, stubbornness and aversion to compromise. They will expect greater commitment to the partnership and family life than the Nine may be prepared to give. Nines expect more freedom and space. A non-possessive love is the feature of the Nine while the Twenty-Six usually develops a possessive love.

Two Nine personalities formed in different moulds enter into this relationship. The personality of the individual born on the 9th day is a concentration of the qualities of the 9 vibration. The influential vibration of the birth month may intensify these qualities or add another dimension, rather than diminishing them. In other words, the 9th day creates a pure Nine personality. The 27th day, on the other hand, creates a qualified Nine. The qualities of the 9 vibration operate in the background or at a fundamental level while those of the 2 and 7 are prominent in the foreground. As a three dimensional personality the Twenty-Seven extends into the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual realms while the pure Nine, as a one dimensional personality, remains, for the most part, within mental and spiritual realms. Exceptional cases would be when the birth month adds a dimension on the physical or emotional realm.

In many instances a partnership containing a single digit and a multiple digit birthday presents certain obstacles to be recognised and overcome before a measure of harmony is established. There could be too many conflicting or divergent features present in the multi-dimensional personality and too much centralisation in the single-dimensional partner. This situation is, however, by no means excessive or problematic in a Nine/Twenty-Seven relationship. Characteristics they possess in common exceed by far those they do not share. Besides, those features that are different are such that can be used to strengthen the partnership rather than weaken it.

As in all partnerships positive attitudes play a vital role in the success of a union, while negativity in one or both creates unnecessary complications. The indicator of positivity is the presence of the 1 vibration in the birthday or birth month. Its presence in some degree of strength in the name through the letters a, j or s also inject positivity. The indicator of negativity is the absence of the 1 vibration or the overloading of a particular vibration by its repetition in the birth month. This latter problem can only be suffered by an individual with a single digit birthday, such as a Nine personality. Nines born in the 9th month will invariably suffer negative features associated with the 9 vibration. Repetition of the 2, 7 and 9 vibrations in the birth month of the Twenty-Seven does not create this problem as there are two other openings or points of expression.

Most Nines are superior individuals who have evolved from ego-centredness into a conscious or subconscious sense of their unity and interdependence with all living things. A spontaneous expression of this condition can be observed in those who have been nurtured in a favourable environment and gained a good general education. In others much of their goodness or goodwill remains just below the surface and can be evoked by self-education or by any special circumstance. Sooner or later internationalism should be the general outlook of the Nine. The direct consequence of this frame of mind is the absence of prejudice, bigotry, xenophobia or a predisposition to judge others by parochial standards. Their objectivity not only frees their minds for self-development but also makes them approachable, tolerant, and understanding people. Other general characteristics are an outgrowth of their belief in the family of humankind. Generosity, idealism, broadmindedness, honesty, the capacity to absorb abstract knowledge, inspiration, intuition and personal magnetism are some of their finer qualities.

There are also certain features that emerge from the 9 vibration’s admirable qualities which could be disadvantageous to the individual as well as their partners. Impressionability, excessive trust in others, a tendency to give unwisely when their emotions are aroused, indecision especially when someone could be disadvantaged or hurt by their decisions, poor money management and poor commercial sense, lack of ambition for personal power and fame, inconsistency and lack of direction in early life, moodiness and a tendency to indulge in meditative pleasures at the expense of constructive action, impractical ideas and mental restlessness are examples. Severely negative Nines are so different to their positive or near positive counterparts that they are hardly recognisable as Nine personalities. An aggressive attitude created by an inferiority complex, ill-temper, criticism, intolerance, bitterness, hypersensitivity and egocentricity are some of their problems. Such Nines could also take an opposite course and become so meek and mild without a mind of their own and without the ability to assume responsibility for their lives due to lack of trust in themselves and others.

The 7 vibration plays a significant role in the Twenty-Seven personality. On the one hand it complements the Nine aspect in regard to the individual’s spiritual aspirations, on the other hand it places certain restrictions on its extroverted nature. This component of the Twenty-Seven also introduces certain reserved and reclusive traits. The 2 aspect also sides with the 7 in this respect. Timidity and a degree of uncertainty are aspects of the 2 which favour observation rather than participation. The Twenty-Seven’s sociability is therefore not as constant or dependable as that of the Nine. However, the 2 aspect, as in the case of the 7, contributes actively to the abstract or metaphysical nature of the basic Nine personality.

As Twenty-Sevens possess three major aspects to their integral personality and cannot suffer from an overloading of the qualities of a particular vibration the most from which they could suffer is a mild form of negativity that reveals itself through a lack of self-confidence or lack of a firm belief in their several talents. They may be too inclined to approach life defensively rather than forcefully and competitively. In public life a Twenty-Seven, without the support of the 1 vibration, may surrender opportunity to others who may be less talented than themselves but who possess more self-assurance and ambition. In personal relationships Twenty-Sevens are quiet, dignified and soft spoken people who demand the same responses from their partners. The great majority of Nines will meet these expectations.

A unique feature of this partnership is that neither partner will place egoistic demands or needs higher than their obligations towards a harmonious relationship and a stable domestic scene. This is a great advantage for reaching a compromise on domestic responsibilities as both are more attracted to public life as professionals than to a domestic way of life. The toughness and often duplicity associated with success in business or the acquisition of personal power for its own sake will be scorned by both. On the other hand, both naturally acquire a gentle sort of power that is much admired, simply by being themselves. The tendency to become too involved in their public duties at the expense of domestic responsibilities is a problem to be resolved. This is a situation in which domestic help by a third party could establish balance in their lifestyle. As both view life as a shared experience their aims will be for equality instead of superiority or subordination. Decisions will be made mutually without loss of self-esteem. It is, however, possible that in some instances the Twenty-Seven would be the faster decision maker. The practicality of the 7 vibration helps them in this respect.

Differences in their personality will be most evident in social behaviour. Nines are accessible and open people who, despite their dignified manner, enjoy movement at all levels of society. Twenty-Sevens are discriminative and selective. They could remain aloof and silent in the presence of strangers or casual acquaintances. They tire easily in company that does not provide intellectual stimulation. While Nines are prepared to accept others on face value due to their compassionate nature, Twenty-Sevens do not react or respond as speedily. While Nines would avoid hurting anyone’s feelings under most circumstances Twenty-Sevens may not hesitate to check forwardness or presumption on the part of impudent individuals. They would, however, do so in a dignified manner that would not lower them to the level of the offenders. Both partners avoid ego-centred individuals who habitually refute knowledge of abstract realms which they do not possess. As a twosome both partners also stand out in company for their charm and personal magnetism. Another fortunate asset is the ability of both partners to communicate courteously with consideration for each other’s sentiments. The Nine will be much more talkative than the Twenty-Seven as the 9 vibration creates a greater need to express thoughts and experiences. The taciturn nature of the 7 vibration restrains oral expression to some extent in the Twenty-Seven, but does not do so to a degree that causes personal frustration. They could speak out quite fluently whenever they choose to do so, although they do not feel the need to speak merely for the sake of communicating. The pure Nine takes up a role of preceptor or educator anxious to give out knowledge acquired while Twenty-Sevens more often than not, due to the influence of the 7 vibration, assumes the role of student or scholar who is not yet prepared to divulge knowledge gained. An exceptional situation is experienced when they are directly asked for their opinion on a particular subject. They also do not welcome contradiction or argument with the same degree of tolerance and magnanimity as the Nine. Another advantage shared by both partners is the capacity to develop an empathy with each other’s thoughts, thereby eliminating unnecessary oral communication.

A calling to help others is a mutual attribute. The urge for self-study and self-improvement along spiritual and cultural lines is another. The love of nature and natural surroundings is still another. These partners are also non-competitive individuals who avoid highly competitive sporting activities, particularly body contact sports. Also, while avoiding the unknown and unfamiliar in the physical world they are naturally attracted to these conditions in the non-physical or metaphysical world. They are also travellers in the true sense as opposed to happy-go-lucky tourists. Their travels, whenever possible, will be related to their studies of history and the cultural development of humankind. Enjoying a well stocked library of books and music plus a keen interest in gardening are other mutual interests. Loneliness and boredom are not problems that beset either during their leisure hours, holidays or at any period of their lives. With such a great deal in common their days will never be long enough to accommodate all their interests.

Mercenary and commercial attitudes are quite alien to both partners. Nines in particular do not covet material wealth in terms of money or other valued possessions. Such things are not ignored, but are given a less important place in their outlook on life. This attitude in conjunction with their generous, compassionate and impressionable nature makes them poor money managers. Unless supported by a practical vibration in their birth month Nines spend money as fast as it comes in. In comparison, Twenty-Sevens are responsible money managers. They too do not covet material possessions but they do possess a greater need to establish relative security in their financial position. They are much more discerning in expenditure and are also good savers and investors. Both partners, however, are resourceful and innovative during difficult times and are able to make do with what they have until better times come around. The Nine, especially, has a quick comeback after reversals of fortune in life. On a day-to-day basis it would be better if the Twenty-Seven takes up management of their expenditure in addition to the management of their investments. This will safeguard impulsive action by the Nine, particularly when larger sums of money are involved.

The stronger the ego in individuals the more difficult it is to love. But couples who bond together in the sense of ‘We’ and ‘Us’ rather than ‘I’ and ‘My’ invariably lay the foundation for a close relationship. The wonderful potential in a Nine/Twenty-Seven relationship is the capacity to direct their minds upwards and outwards towards the universal and impersonal rather than downward and inwards towards egocentricity. If all Nines and Twenty-Sevens draw upon this potential they would lead superior lives in a powerful and influential combination. Their rapport should be close enough to enable them when necessary to work in each other’s company and consult each other when problems arise. Despite the many superior attributes in each their blending will bring more into the union than each as individuals would have started with.

A combination formed by a single digit birthday and a multiple digit birthday often presents the possibility of complications arising from a diversity of vibratory forces. Dissimilar and contradictory forces interact as a result of centralisation or concentration of characteristics of the individual with the single digit birthday and the diffusion of personality traits in the individual with the multiple digit birthday. This is a condition that will soon become evident in a Nine/Twenty-Eight combination.

In the first instance the attraction of opposites will be the principle on which persons with these birthdays will be drawn to each other. Sooner or later, however, both will arrive at the realisation that they hold different views on life and will have different personal needs and preferences. A speedy process of acceptance and adjustment will be called for if the association is to last. If their endeavours are successfully accomplished the union will be greatly enriched and strengthened as both have a good deal to offer each other.

The Nine personality operates, for the most part, on the mental plane with a strong spiritual component forming the integral personality. The 9 vibration symbolises the highest level on the evolutionary spiral illustrated by the single digits – the number 1 representing beginnings and the 9, completion, and various stages of development by the numbers between. Consequently, all Nine personalities possess in potential such evolved qualities as wisdom, compassion, understanding, tolerance and sentimentality. These qualities are accompanied by a firm belief in the brotherhood of Man which has placed them above all forms of bigotry such as racial and religious prejudice and social classification. They have manifestly moved out of a limited sense of ‘I’ and ‘My’ into an expanded identity of ‘We’, and ‘Us’. However, this high-minded mentality is not necessarily seen in all Nines. The 9 vibration has its negative side which emerges in certain birth dates. Positivity or negativity in personal expression has considerable bearing on the degree of success in any relationship. A Nine/Twenty-Eight partnership is no exception. Positive Nines are self-assured and self-reliant people with faith in their ability to fulfil their ambitions. These Nines are invariably supported by the presence in their birth months of the 1 vibration which provides the vital energies needed for positive action in life. They will not be called upon to alter their outlook on life. Other Nines may receive similar support when this vibration is found in some degree of strength in the name or as the destiny number. These Nines may vary in their degree of positivity and may at times need to boost or restore their faith in themselves. Negativity in a Nine personality is seen at its worst when the individual is born in the 9th month and has little or no support from the 1 vibration. The overloading of the powerful forces of the 9 vibration becomes too much to handle due to lack of balance in the overall personality structure. These individuals lose confidence in themselves and as a direct consequence lose trust in others. They develop anti-social qualities such as suspicion, criticism, ill-temper, emotional instability, frustration, and an abnormal fear of being hurt emotionally. They resent people who hold positions superior to themselves and make every attempt to injure them in order to feel more at ease with their own feelings of inferiority.

The Twenty-Eight is basically a One personality and should be able to consciously draw upon the power of the 1 vibration to remain on the positive side of life. This mental exercise will not be necessary if the Twenty-Eight has the 1 vibration in the birth month. Positivity will then be automatic. Such individuals, however, may exhibit a tendency towards self-assertive and authoritative habits. The average Twenty-Eight may possess qualities that ensure success in public life but not necessarily in an intimate relationship, unless they become aware of and alter certain characteristics that would damage a harmonious relationship. Their natural tendency would be to take charge of all affairs of a partnership and consequently restrict self-expression and the freedom of choice of their partners. Such behaviour, if not checked, (and it would not be easy), would invite instant revolt from a freedom-loving and knowledgeable Nine partner. The 8 vibration which operates in the forefront of this personality creates the organiser, the manager and the executive with a cloak of authority. It is also a vibration that promotes material progress, personal power and the acquisition of extensive practical knowledge. On the other hand, it also provides qualities that can be used to soften a subject’s authoritative ways. A high sense of justice, the ability to judge fairly and squarely, the ability to see and acknowledge talent and goodness in others, a keen perception and feeling for the problems of others are some of the fine qualities provided by the 8. Though emotional expression and tenderness are restricted by their authoritative exterior, family loyalty and family pride are among their strongest qualities. The 1 vibration at a fundamental level has many features are similar to those of the 8, such as ambition, authority, leadership, individuality, self-reliance, initiative, decision, practicality, materialism and pride. The 8 and 1 aspects combine to provide considerable incentive for achievement in the world. The 2 aspect, which is the gentle side of the Twenty-Eight, is usually overshadowed in public life but could be evoked in private life to soften many stern qualities of the 1 and 8. Twenty-Eights should learn to accept two roles in life – one that is authoritative in public life and one that is democratic in family life.

The basic difference between the average Nine and the average Twenty-Eight is seen in the Nine’s realisation that there is a non-physical component to the human being and other levels of reality besides those perceived by the five senses, and the Twenty-Eight’s disinclination to identify themselves with their spiritual nature. Even those Twenty-Eights who possess some partiality towards spirituality find themselves too involved in physical and material activities to pay much attention to this aspect of life. Although they move in different spheres both partners need the support and companionship of a loved one. Therefore, a sincere attempt should be made to integrate the Nine’s intellectual abstractions and the Twenty-Eight’s practical realities. If they fail to do so they may eventually drift apart; the Twenty-Eight becoming more materialistic and emotionally inhibited and the Nine becoming more emotionally unstable and distant.

Adequate attention may not be given to the domestic scene as both partners are attracted to public life, albeit to different spheres of activity. Resolving the role of leader and decision maker will be one of their first tasks. The situation will be brought to a head by the Twenty-Eight whose natural bent is to manage people and their movements without even realising that they are doing so. The manner in which this is done with a Nine partner will be vital to the success of this relationship. The need for personal freedom, respect for the freedom of others and open consultation are features that the Nine brings into a relationship. Nines are not usually instant decision makers and often their decisions are not final. Despite this condition they will not accept arbitrary decisions by a partner. Although the Twenty-Eight does possess many autocratic features they should exercise their strong sense of justice and fair play by resorting to consultation. If they do so Nines will happily leave ultimate decisions to them.

The imaginative powers of the Nine are more extensive than those of the Twenty-Eight. Consequently, most Nines extract greater variety out of life. This will be observed in the diversity of their social and recreational activities as well as their hobbies. Twenty-Eights are generally conservative in their social contacts and their recreational interests are centralised. They may have very few private hobbies, despite their multi-dimensional personality. This is due to the traditional nature of the 1 and 8 vibrations and the reserved nature of the 2. Leadership and initiative will switch from the Twenty-Eight to the Nine in the couple’s social life. Being socially skilled by nature, open-minded in their world view and having a better understanding of the variety within human nature, Nines do not find it difficult to attract and make new friends and acquaintances. More often than not, Twenty-Eights may identify others by their status symbols while Nines do so through the condition of their hearts and minds. Nines require a fair amount of intellectual stimulus in company and find this in subjects of an abstract nature while Twenty-Eights confine themselves to business, politics and other practical matters. Twenty-Eights are often too busy to enjoy the warmth of close friendships. They should therefore make an effort to set aside time for interaction with people other than their business associates. Nines, on the hand, should see that their social life is not carried to an extent that could damage family togetherness.

The Nine’s extroverted social activities are supported by fluency of speech which complements a natural urge to communicate their thoughts and feelings, and this is done in a manner that holds the attention of an audience. They are also sincere and patient listeners. The combination of these traits makes them informative and sympathetic, and never tiresome and self-promoting. Twenty-Eights, on the other hand, are by comparison, somewhat inhibited in oral expression, except when dealing with their business interests or their favourite recreation. As analysis and deliberation are natural traits their speech is usually direct and to the point while the Nine could be spontaneous, ambiguous, colourful and at time evasive. While Nines are open to new possibilities Twenty-Eights do not endure contradiction with patience; instead remaining rigidly attached to their opinions. They could also appear self-promoting and rather tedious due to their decreased imaginative powers and absence of a romantic approach to life. Although Nines are not argumentative people they could become quite frustrated by many of the Twenty-Eight’s adamant views, while the Twenty-Eight, in turn, could become confused and angry by the several alternatives presented by the Nine.

Both partners, if they are not careful, could risk placing their recreational activities ahead of domestic responsibilities. Nines will be attracted to a variety of private interests. Worries that arise during working hours can be forgotten during their leisure periods and a good balance between work and pleasure can be established by them. The same amount of energy they put into public life will be directed into their private interests. Any activity related to music, drama, dance, literature, art, religion, independent spiritual enquiry, self-improvement classes as students and teachers, counselling and social service are among several areas that attract the Nine. The danger is that they may get involved in too many of these at the expense of their peace of mind, physical health and family welfare. Twenty-Eights may find it more difficult to establish a balance between work and leisure activities as their fixation on business affairs is much stronger. They may often mix the two, although total separation is much more desirable for their general wellbeing. As they are by nature competitive people their best outlets will be in competitive sports as supporters, players and administrators. While Nines are natural travellers who prefer to change their holiday venues, Twenty-Eights would favour spending their holidays at a favourite spot among familiar scenes. One of the few things these partners have in common is an indifference towards gambling or any games of chance.

A marked disparity between these partners, and one with the most potential for strife, is their individual attitudes towards money and its usage. Financial security is not an important factor within the Nine’s scheme of things. They are generous, impulsive and often irresponsible spenders who leave nothing set aside for a rainy day. If they do think of the future at all in terms of financial security they do so with a faith that the future will look after itself. They do possess a natural ability to pass through hard times and recover speedily. The manner in which they handle money will alarm their Twenty-Eight partners. Twenty-Eights are mindful of their future and, as they do in other departments of life, would automatically take over the management of the money side of the partnership. This would be advisable as the Twenty-Eight’s capacity to face and recover from a financial setback is not as good as that of the Nine. These individuals climb steadily up the ladder of success and having reached the top are determined to remain there, and no risks are taken to jeopardise this position. If they fail for some reason beyond their control the slow road to recovery cannot be readily undertaken by a Twenty-Eight. This situation would not overly worry the Nine as their philosophy is usually based on the belief that the world is a safe place with brief periods of insecurity. The Twenty-Eight’s philosophy is based on the belief that the world is an unsafe place with brief periods of security.

In conclusion, it may be said that success with a Nine partner is dependent upon development of an intellectual rapport with them, while success with a Twenty-Eight is dependent upon compatibility with practical realities. Possessiveness, which is not an aspect of the Nine but which is a noticeable part of the Twenty-Eight’s personality could be the cause of some problems. Pride, whether personal or family pride, is also not a part of the Nine, but is a strong aspect of the Twenty-Eight. Loyalty is a quality that is present in both but is stronger in the Twenty-Eight. Romance is enriched and magnified in the Nine, although it lies dormant in the Twenty-Eight, even though this personality is deeply emotional. However, on the physical side, the sex life of these partners should be quite compatible as both are strongly sexually motivated.

A Twenty-Nine relationship will be formed on the basis of similar personality traits and kindred taste and aspirations, and not on opposite vibratory forces which often attract people to each other. The benefits of such a relationship will be felt in an extension and strengthening of potential as their combined talents will be much more effective than individual expression. Partners with a positive outlook on life will take advantage of this situation and form a relationship of considerable strength and productivity, but a couple with a negative outlook may become more competitive than cooperative. Creativity in one partner may be quite burdensome on the other, but if the other is of a strong positive disposition his or her steadfastness could counteract negative traits and strengthen the negative partner.

The disadvantage of a Nine/Twenty-Nine situation is that the attributes they do not possess individually or collectively are also similar. Consequently their union may be overloaded in certain aspects and wanting in others. Positive partners may endeavour to correct this condition as best as they can while those who are negative may not possess the incentive or willingness to do so.

This is not a relationship that can be clearly defined and placed into a single or predictable passage of development due to the variety of combinations that can be formed in terms of positivity and negativity. Each combination may possess in varying degrees potential for success or failure. The force that invariably determines positivity or negativity is the 1 vibration. When this number is present in their birth month Nines and Twenty-Nines apply themselves positively to life’s situations. This is the strongest area of influence upon the personality structure created by the birthday vibration or vibrations. When the number 1 is found in other areas of influence most subjects need to make a conscious effort to remain positive, and success is attained to the degree they succeed in doing so. Self-confidence, initiative and decisiveness are generally the fruits of positivity, while loss of self-confidence, uncertainty, waywardness and indecision are generally the fruits of negativity. In addition, there are positive and negative qualities peculiar to each vibration.

The 9 vibration has a profound influence upon a Nine/Twenty-Nine relationship. Its qualities are centralised in the Nine individual and expanded in the Twenty-Nine. They are expanded in the latter by virtue of the fact that the Twenty-Nine at fundamental levels is motivated by the master vibration symbolised by the number 11. This vibration incorporates most of the 9 features and adds several advanced qualities of its own.

The 9 vibration is a mental/spiritual force. The mental aspect may be predominant throughout life but the spiritual side, as an active force, may emerge after a degree of maturity has been attained. Equalisation or balance of the mental and spiritual forces may vary considerably in the Nine personality group. Nines depend on other areas of influence for outlets on the emotional plane, manual dexterity and down-to earth values. Without adequate outlets for free emotional expression the emotions of the average Nine get bottled up and find release from time to time in uncontrollable outbursts, especially when a physical vibration is lacking and the practical side of life is neglected. However, the Nine’s field of operation will always be within the mental and spiritual realms. The hallmark of the Nine character is wisdom, and several excellent features latent in this personality are the direct outcome of this eminent quality. Compassion, understanding, forgiveness, non-attachment to material things, indifference to power over others, a sublimated ego and freedom from any form of racial, religious and cultural prejudice, and above all, an international outlook on life are some of these attributes. At their best their goal in life is to be able to enjoy and contribute to the cultural and spiritual advancement of mankind as well as play a part in the relief of all forms of human suffering. The negative or adverse side of the average Nine can be observed in features such as indecision, susceptibility, an excess of generosity, misuse of imaginative powers and theatrical and far-fetched ideas instead of simple, down-to-earth concepts. Badly negative Nines are usually those born in the 9th month. They experience real difficulties rising above hostile traits such as suspicion, rash judgment, critical attitudes, general anti-social behaviour and loss of direction in life. This reversal of Nine attributes is caused by an imbalance within their integral personality structure through the overloading of the powerful forces of the 9 vibration. The overloading or over-charging of a particular vibration usually deprives an individual of other natural outlets for self-expression, and invariably induces the negative side of that vibration to emerge over the positive aspects.

Multiple digit birthdays are reduced to a single digit in order to ascertain the underlying force that motivates the individual. However, in the process of doing so, if the number 11 or number 22 is encountered, these should be taken into consideration in the first instance. The numbers 2 and 4 may be given attention thereafter. This is done on the basis that the individual could exercise an option of living up to the potential of a master vibration or resorting to the lower forces of toe 2 or 4 as the case may be. In most instances there could be an intermingling of the master vibration and the one that is standard. The Twenty-Nine will be subject to these conditions and a complex or enigmatic personality is often the result. Not only is the 9 vibration active in the foreground of the personality but it also coexists with the forces of the 2 vibration. As the 2 vibration also forms a positive force at a fundamental level it has a significant influence upon the Twenty-Nine personality. This is a vibration that compliments the 9 in many ways, and yet does not strengthen the Nine in areas that need strengthening such as willpower, decision, self-assertiveness, self-discipline, thrift and practicality. These features, however, can be evoked from the master vibration by a positive Twenty-Nine so that a well-rounded personality is developed. Other Twenty-Nines may do so to varying degrees. A Twenty-Nine born in the 2nd or 9th month will have considerable difficulty doing so. Self-discipline and consistency will often be their main problems. At one extreme Twenty-Nines could have their heads in the clouds and feet firmly on the ground, and at another extreme they could have their heads in the clouds and feet off the ground.

The 2 vibration, among other things, is known for its sensitivity, and consequently, its predisposition towards extrasensory perception. This complements the Nine’s intuition, natural diagnostic sense and spirituality. These combined forces are greatly enhanced when merged into the 11 vibration as they would be in the Twenty-Nine. Qualities such as inspiration, revelation, intuition, spirituality, clairvoyance, evangelism and the gift of prophesy are enhanced in the average Twenty-Nine. On the practical side positive Twenty-Nines use their inspiration for invention, artistic achievement, and the reform of outdated social conditions. They are found among creative artists, freedom fighters, mediums and counsellors. Certain Twenty-Nines are great talkers who are strong on theory but weak in practice. These are individuals who are not equipped with physical vibrations through which they could transfer their ideas into physical form.

As egoistic attitudes have been overcome by both Nines and Twenty-Nines one would not seek to dominate the other. Both have moved out of the limited sense of ‘I’ and ‘My’, and are evolved into a broader consciousness of ‘We’ and ‘Us’. Consequently, their blending will bring more assets into the union than each possessed as individuals. This will be done by cooperation rather than coercion. A shared experience with decisions made mutually is what each expects in a close relationship. However, as spontaneity is a characteristic of both partners they would need to accept each other’s spontaneous decisions and actions with understanding and tolerance. Fortunately, both possess sufficient flexibility to overcome any consequences resulting from errors of judgment. Although ego has been greatly diminished sensitivity has not been affected. Both are sensitive or touchy individuals who could be easily hurt by rudeness, selfishness, crudeness and violence in any form. Judgmental and resentful responses are not aspects of their temperaments, unless negativity in an extreme form is a problem in one or both. If this is the case the relationship would not have developed. Unlike those who confine themselves to the physical world and its sensations these partners seek the joys and stimulations that can only be found in mental and spiritual activities. However, they could go too far in search of happiness in these realms and neglect more practical responsibilities towards their kith and kin. Consequently, certain domestic responsibilities may be placed at risk by too many outside commitments. Unless they help each other within a strict regime life could be disorganised. While their love of home and family cannot be disputed the lure of outside interests is usually too strong to prevent such interests from overriding certain domestic responsibilities.

Difficulties that arise in domestic life will not be found in the social scene as both are socially oriented. As open-minded and extroverted individuals, they look upon others as potential friends and acquaintances rather than strangers to be treated with caution. Their conduct in society is neither overbearing nor defensive, and is, for the most part, friendly and expansive. A harmonious blending of social awareness will be the secret of their success. Social popularity is won without effort, both individually and collectively, not only from their conversational skills but also from their talents as generous and competent entertainers. On the occasions they entertain at home they put on an impressive spread of food and drink with accompaniments of good music and general pleasant atmosphere. Besides being good mixers themselves, others who are normally reluctant to mix do so under their influence. However, both partners need to be aware that excess of social engagements could interfere with the tranquillity of home life and their own peace of mind.

Having similar aims in life their hobbies and recreational interests will be, for the most part, allied to their social activities. Despite a diversity of friends and acquaintances an intimate core of associates is likely to be formed as both are aware that cultural pursuits and spiritual exploration can only be undertaken by those who are ready to receive their benefits. They are interested in seeking knowledge from areas beyond the five senses and are able to delve deeper into the nature of things much more than the average person with whom they may be acquainted. They do not seek role models among sport stars, entertainers or other celebrity figures, but rather among those who have reached moral and spiritual heights regardless of their status in society. Being aware of the law of compensation their actions are based on the realisation that the end of one’s physical life is not the end of one’s existence. Both possess the calling to help others selflessly, and as a consequence, direct much of their time and energy into good causes. Such beliefs and actions could be enhanced by a strong positive imprint from early family life which remains throughout their lifetime. However, a strong negative imprint in one or both would counter much of their potential in areas that matter.

Both partners excel as conversationalists. Unlike many others who need to acquire this talent these individuals are born with it. They enhance their reputation as great conversationalists through fluency of speech, mental flexibility, imagination, patience, a genuine interest in what the other person has to say, sympathy, good humour, the ability to provide good counsel and especially the ability to maintain a healthy balance between their own affairs and the affairs of others. The degree of objectivity they maintain prevents them from becoming tedious, boring or incessant talkers. Moreover, their readiness to enter into conversation on matters of a personal or confidential nature as listeners and confidants attracts people who are in trouble to unburden themselves. Between the partners themselves they may have a good deal to say, but at the same time, they would respect each other’s need for periods of silence. Arguments and counter arguments may flare up from time to time although they will not be prolonged, nor will there be an aftermath of resentment or ill will. Both partners may be subject to rapid mood changes. They could reach levels of radiance in speech when their moods are high or retreat into virtual silence when their moods are low. Positive or near positive partners look kindly upon each other and basically see the best in themselves and in situations. Negative individuals are usually inclined to see the worst in an unkindly and critical way. These different attitudes are reflected in their form of communication with each other.

A unique feature of their relationship is that neither partner will be obsessed by their possessions. Success is not measured in terms of money or other material goods. They are certainly not indifferent to the benefits of civilisation, rather they are able to use them and not be used by them. While qualities of the mental and spiritual planes govern their thought processes those of the physical plane do not exercise as strong an influence. Consequently, from a worldly and practical point of view, they are disadvantaged to some extent. Poor money management is one direct result. Money goes out as fast as it comes in. They may frequently find themselves unable to make ends meet as very little or nothing will be put away for current or future liabilities. Their natural tendency is to live in the present in material terms and not worry about the future. Their concern for the future is more in moral and spiritual values. Unless one or both possess a financially responsible vibration such as the 4, 6, 7 or 8 in other strong areas of influence many real problems are bound to arise. Both are generous individuals and their generosity can be exploited by others. They are also trusting and impressionable in regard to worldly affairs and these tendencies too can be exploited by others. However, an advantage possessed by both is the ability to adjust to highs and lows with courage and relative indifference. Their capacity to recover and re-establish themselves is quite extraordinary. In a few instances only would financial problems cause long-term strife and this is only likely between negative individuals who do not possess the incentive to take charge of their lives.

There will be occasions when either one or the other will feel unsure of themselves and look for understanding and support. In most instances a third party will not be approached as both are capable of rising to the occasion and giving each other unstinted support. These are individuals who maintain personal distance and do not like to be emotionally dependent on each other, yet need the approval, esteem and unconditional love of their partners. As their imagination is not always curbed by rational thought it is also possible they may lose emotional control on occasions and create highly charged emotional scenes. As quickly as these arise they also fade away, followed by periods of silent introspection. Lines of communication should always be kept open. While both have surrendered the role of arbitrary and authoritative behaviour they do not surrender the right to be kept informed and to discuss issues relating to their partnership. They need to be aware of each other’s needs and feelings. Another cause for outbursts of emotion is their susceptibility to all sorts of external forces playing upon them. They could be sensitive to other people’s expectations, and their response to such expectations may bring about problems within their own relationship.

Please refer to the chapter on the 3rd and 9th birthdays. The Zero in the 30th day does not add or take away any feature of the 3 vibration. At the most it may emphasise positive or negative qualities in the Thirty personality.

9th and 31st Birthday

Interaction between a straightforward Nine personality and a qualified Four personality will be seen in this combination. Their relationship will be the same as that between a Nine and another qualified Four, namely an individual born on the 13th day of any month. It should be noted that the influence of the 3 vibration is slightly stronger in the Thirty-One than in the Thirteen, as it appears first, but this does not make any appreciable difference in their interaction with an Nine personality.

The chapter on 9th and 13th birthdays should be consulted.
