4TH AND 4TH BIRTHDAYS

Close relationships are generally formed on the basis of similarities, or through complementary needs, temperaments and talents. In the former group couples look for peace, comfort and security they find in each other’s company, and in the latter, people seek out those qualities they lack but are able to see in their opposites. A relationship between a couple who are both born on the 4th day will, no doubt, be formed, by and large, on the basis of similarities. However, as pure Four personalities are still influenced by the considerable power of the birth month vibration, a third possibility must be recognised. Other spheres of influence contribute towards forming the integral personality of an individual by introducing different vibratory forces. Hence, a pair of Four personalities, while appreciating each other’s basic similarities, could also be attracted to each other by reason of certain opposite characteristics. Such characteristics may exercise only a secondary influence, but, they will certainly serve to open out and brighten up an otherwise weakly enterprising partnership. Some couples who are too well matched may end up being quite compatible together but they may not grow and change much over time and their relationship may lack vitality and spontaneity. This will be particularly the case with Four couples who operate within a set range of vibratory frequencies.

The 4 vibration, on the one hand, is the embodiment of everything that is substantial, physical, earthly and permanent. On the other hand, these very qualities give rise to limitation, confinement, and in extreme cases stagnation. In human terms Four personalities are practical, reliable, level-headed and hardworking. Their main drawbacks are the want of imagination, absence of sparkle, good humour and fear of adventure. They avoid all risks or gambling in any form. As work usually comes before pleasure they leave little or no time for fun and frivolity. Efficiency is the hallmark of all good Fours. Their sense of duty, loyalty and determination to see a job well done, override the drive of ambition.

Both partners will be equally comfortable and successful in the roles of provider and homemaker. If the need arises they could switch roles without difficulty. Their partnership will be established on an equal footing with neither one assuming the position of leader or follower. Almost everything will be done by consensus of opinion. As neither partner will be in a hurry to do anything they will take time and much deliberation before they make their decisions, but once made, they remain firm and in full control of their plans. As security and a stable lifestyle will be their principal aim in life, both partners will work faithfully towards establishing a comfortable home and family life. Family discipline will form an important aspect of home life. Disruptive, competitive and noncooperative attitudes are not likely in their relationship. On the contrary, both partners will be appreciative and supportive of each other’s duties and achievements. Fours are likely to need a frequent lifting of their self-confidence, but a pair of Fours should be able to inspire each other and evoke confidence and trust in their joint ventures.

There are some negative Four qualities that may be emphasised in a double Four partnership. Narrow-mindedness, which is the direct consequence of their lack of imagination, is one problem. Their minds, unless opened out by other vibrations, may function in a groove and bind them to a particular system of thought. Although their lives may be a demonstration of practical living they may lock themselves into a routine and cling to familiar scenes and customary ways of doing things. They are seldom willingly receptive to new ideas and any suggestion that they change a habit will be resisted in the first instance. The 4 vibration is not a creative or inventive force. It is a force that executes and builds upon the plans and blueprints created by the inventive minds of others. It is a ‘stay put’ vibration that produces the traditionalist and the die-hard, the ‘stick-in-the-mud’, the conservative and the long term employee.

The cooperation and mutual understanding experienced in their home life will be carried into their social activities as well. Fours are socially independent people who neither avoid nor seek out social contacts. They cultivate a limited social circle within the established order of society. They gain popularity through unstinted personal service. As valuable members of clubs and other local organisations, they display the same dedication to duty and loyalty they do in business and domestic life. Both partners will hold a reputation as doers rather than talkers. A ready hand rather than a ready tongue is the motto of most Fours. Although their willingness to serve the community could be overdone at the expense of their personal pleasures there will be no conflict of interest, as both will, in all likelihood, be engaged in the same activities. Entertaining at home will not be frequent, but on the occasions it occurs, guests can expect sumptuous meals as all Fours are fond of food. Eating will be one of their special pleasures and particular attention will be given to the culinary arts.

Four personalities are usually restrained conversationalists confining themselves to practical matters and avoiding subjects of an abstract nature. Due to their aptitudes as workers rather than entertainers they choose to keep themselves busy performing some useful task instead of indulging in lengthy conversation. They say exactly what they think and at times could be unwittingly abrupt and inconsiderate of the sensitive feelings of others. Four partners will communicate with each other with the minimum use of words. The clear understanding they have of each other obviates the need for prolonged explanations and discussions. Being generally taciturn individuals their household will be comparatively silent. A special effort should be made to introduce more laughter and light-hearted episodes into their lifestyle.

What little spare time is left to them after work and their community obligations will be spent in and around the home. All Fours are real handypersons who delight in spending their free time fixing things and maintaining their goods in sound working order. Each partner will be engaged in a chosen line of duty, thus maintaining a proportionate amount of togetherness and separateness. Although they will seldom be far from each other there will be no interference or treading on each other’s toes as each will respect the other’s expertise and dedication to whatever task is undertaken. A mutual need in all Fours for contact with Mother Earth and its magnetism will find them forming a common interest in the various products of the earth and a close relationship with the land. Suburban Fours will be keen gardeners, concentrating more on vegetables and fruit than on flower gardens. Their practical nature and commercial sense will look for material return for their labours.

All Fours have a well developed sense of values, especially in financial matters. Money is looked upon as a source of comfort and safety for the present and as security for the future. There will be no need for one to keep a check on the spending habits of the other as both are cautious spenders demanding full value for their money and purchasing only goods they need or know they will use. Looking for bargains will develop into one of their keenest pastimes. As all Fours have a horror of falling into debt and are experts at budgeting no debt collectors will call at their door. They will rarely, if ever, have outstanding debts. Others may regard them as close-fisted with a false sense of economy. They are, however, not swayed by opinions of people and will continue in the ways they are accustomed to rather than expose themselves to the slightest financial risk.

This is principally a physically based union with down-to-earth attitudes displayed in all departments of life. Their love is revealed through loyalty, duty and the practical help and care they so willingly give their loved ones. They are embarrassed by outward displays of sentiment as sentimentality is foreign to their nature. Verbal endearments, emotional demonstration and other romantic touches will not be offered or missed by either partner. The absence of romanticism in no way affects their sex lives. The number 4 represents the strongest sex vibration which will ensure complete sexual compatibility in a double Four partnership. By their very ‘stay put’ nature Fours prefer to remain constant to one partner. This is assured, not only by other similarities but by the abundant sexuality offered by a partner who is also a Four.

A pair of positive Fours will no doubt form a close and productive partnership that will enjoy all the material comforts acquired by hard and honest labour. Such Fours will be those born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. Their numerological chart will contain the self-confident 1 vibration which gives them the drive and sense of enterprise required for best use of their combined talents. Fours who are not born in these months do not have the same vigour and often develop a poor self-image despite the fact that they possess the potential to use all the practical talents of the 4 vibration. Negative influences, especially laziness and lack of ambition may develop in these personalities. However, if one partner is a good positive Four, the partnership will succeed under the guidance of the positive partner. If both Fours are negatively inclined the partnership will inevitably become dull and non-productive.

4TH AND 5TH BIRTHDAYS

Clear distinctions between the qualities of the 4 and 5 vibrations set people born on the 4th and 5th days poles apart in their outlook and approach to life. The 4 vibration is the embodiment of everything that is earthly, as it symbolises the planet Earth. It introduces as a firm foundation such qualities as solidity and permanence. The 5 vibration, on the other hand, as the symbol of the planet Mercury, introduces typical mercurial qualities of changeability and uncertainty. The 4 is also an enclosed or contained force insofar as it is confined to development within definite areas of physical life. It is, in fact, the most complete physical vibration, and herein lies its strength as well as its limitations. It endows the Four personality with qualities eminently conducive to steady growth and durability, such as steadfastness, reliability, regularity, practicality, responsibility, loyalty, devotion to duty and similar qualities that identify a solid citizen living by high ethical standards. There is an adverse side to these down-to-earth qualities which could be put to negative uses in a partnership with certain personality types, especially in one with a Five. Fours are generally undemonstrative, unimaginative and stubborn. They resist speed, change and risk, and react with aggression when hurried or cornered into making quick decisions. The time they take to make their decisions could be quite painful to fast thinking personality types. They live by the letter of law, so to speak, and seldom if ever change their firm opinions. Their sense of discipline could interfere in an intimate relationship with a sensitive and easy-going partner. They need the support of other spheres of influence to bring sparkle, flexibility, spontaneity and a sense of humour into their daily life.

There are more facets to the Five personality than any other personality type formed by a single digit birthday. By occupying the centre position in the emotional plane and thereby the centre position in the numerological grid, this vibration has easy access to the mental and physical planes as well. It is unique in the sense that it is the only vibration that contains mental, physical, emotional and intuitional faculties operating in equal strength. The many-sided Five personality cannot, therefore, be identified by a single predominant quality, unless uncertainty, changeability and versatility are accepted as typical Five characteristics. Both consciously and unconsciously the Five will be found shifting from one plane of expression to the other with a speed that will bewilder and even anger a Four partner who is secured firmly on the earth plane. While the Four is restricted to set areas and forms of development the Five is completely free and uncontained in thought and action. Fours resist change and Fives thrive on change. Life must move on with the Five as they cannot tolerate sameness in any form. Other very normal Five qualities that are bound to come into collision with the Four temperament are: curiosity, enthusiasm, restlessness, impulsiveness, volatile outbursts of emotion usually accompanied by loud speech, indifference to self-discipline and responsibility in routine duties, fondness for dangerous and risky enterprises and a natural urge to organise the lives of those around them to suit their own purposes.

All things that the Four lacks the Five has in abundance, and equally, all things wanting in the Five are found abundantly in the Four. Due to these wide differences normal Four and Five characteristics become more conspicuous in a Four/Five partnership. These personalities are so far apart that the magnetism that usually attracts opposite types may bring them together but will not be forceful enough to hold them together. It is more likely that their paths may not cross as their lifestyle takes them in opposite directions. A chance meeting of these personalities is always a possibility but the prospects of a permanent relationship developing are remote as neither one will be capable of compromising their natural dispositions.

Conflicts and challenges really energise the Five personality. They are adventurous spirits constantly reaching out for new horizons of experience. With them, to think is to act as they are not bound by any particular system of thought or inhibited by fear of consequences. There is no doubt that this partner will automatically assume the decision making role. If not taken to excess the Five’s rapid thought processes and progressive ideas will be of considerable advantage to the partnership. Unfortunately, the conservative Four may all too frequently put themselves on the defensive and resist most of the Five’s decisions. This too, if not taken too far, could be of benefit to the partnership as the Four’s caution will act as a good foil for many of the Five’s hasty decisions. Though not ambitious for leadership in their own right, Fours are always willing to follow the lead of a moderate and pragmatic leader but will not be budged by the impulsive, impatient and risky decisions of a restless leader. Although a compromise will be most beneficial it is difficult to visualise such a fortunate state being created between the speed of the Five and the deliberation of the Four.

Despite their dissimilarities of temperament a good measure of solidarity can be built up on the home front if the Four partner takes up all household responsibilities. This arrangement will suit both parties. However, if circumstances are such that the Four is the breadwinner and the Five is confronted with the task of running the household the situation will be open to disaster. Fives are among the least domesticated of all personality types. The confines of home and family which can be a haven to many will be a prison to the energetic Five. Fives thrive on conflicts and challenges, and therefore revel in the general melodrama of public life. While they may get by with certain personality types, a Five homemaker will never measure up to a Four’s expectations. Fours feel at ease only in an orderly, efficient and well established domestic situation which the overactive and disinterested Five is simply unable to create. Fours, on the other hand, are dependable and dedicated workers both within and outside the home. If circumstances demand, a Four partner has the strength and resourcefulness to assume the dual roles of homemaker and breadwinner. In whatever position Five partners are placed they will seek to organise and contrive matters in such a way that the willing Four will be assigned most of the domestic duties.

Both Fours and Fives are extroverted more towards physical action than ordinary sociability, fraternisation and popularity. Social interaction is accepted as part and parcel of any physical activity they may undertake. However, apart from this similarity their approach to and conduct in society, as in all other functions, take different directions.

Fours are conservative people who are fond of respectability and social acceptance within the established order of society. They hold orthodox beliefs and are ever ready to uphold the conventions and customs of their times. They usually operate in the background performing tasks less practical people are unable or disinclined to undertake. Their Five partners are not restricted to conventional behaviour and usually find themselves in the limelight as they do not care to censor their behaviour to conform to the mores of society. Neither do they hesitate to plunge into any form of activity that an occasion demands. They approach strangers without hesitation and are not disturbed when approached by strangers. They are confident mixers and enthusiastic motivators who are comfortable in the company of the opposite sex. As nothing holds the Five’s attention or interest for long they look for frequent changes of scene. Whoever assumes that a Five’s friendship can be held on a long-term basis will be mistaken and disappointed. As the 4 vibration represents consolidation, among other things, Fours confine themselves to selected forms of entertainment and a few tried and trusted friends. As the 5 vibration represents expansion, Five personalities undergo a quick turnover of friends and acquaintances leaving very few or no real intimates. The Four can always be relied upon for help and service in practical day-to-day affairs when the Five just cannot be found, but in all emergencies when quick thinking and instant action is called for the Five will emerge as a natural leader and director. The social life of these partners will no doubt bear the pressures of their personality differences. Inevitably, Fours will resist or refuse to be pressurised to participate in many of the Fives’ socials adventures and Fives are quite capable of going their own way.

The easiest means by which Fours and Fives can be identified is through the considerable difference in their forms of oral expression. This difference invariably has a significant impact on a relationship between these personalities. Fours are people of few words and the minimum of emotional expression and body language. They take their time to convert their thoughts into well chosen words which are expressed in a straightforward, meaningful and definitive manner. Their deliberative style of speech may irritate fast thinking partners such as a Five, and their forthright manner may hurt or arouse the feelings of sensitive people. They prefer to avoid argument but when involved in one, may refuse to budge from their point of view. They are patient listeners, but, unlike their Five partners, they are not responsive to a variety of topics. Conversation between Fours and Fives on matters of a wider interest, and especially on sentimental matters, will be restricted. Oral frustration in sentimental matters is a problem faced by Fours. Fives are among the greatest of talkers who willingly engage in discussion on any subject, often with self-assumed authority. Their quality of speech could range from meaningless jabber to serious and prolonged discussions on worthwhile matters. Either form, as well as the Five’s excessive use of emotional expression and strong body language, could irritate the generally taciturn and practical Four partner. The Five’s speech is often accompanied by touch, and Fours are not responsive to touching as a means of communication. Their extraordinary sense of touch is preserved for creation of objects of art, and during sexual activity. Fours could often become the victims of the Five’s impatience and duplicity and be hurt by their sarcastic, critical and unrestrained language.

Both partners will insist on personal freedom in how they spend their leisure hours. Fives will want to lead their own lives rather more than the Four. The average Five may reasonably be described as a person who is attracted to everything but is held down by nothing. A nervous and restless energy has them always on the alert for new challenges and experiences. Their leisure time will be spent in a variety of outdoor activity.

Travel, adventure off the beaten track and dangerous sports calling for physical courage, daring and instant reflexes usually attract these people. They are seldom found at home during their spare time and everything that needs to be done around the home will be left for someone else to do. The Four personality is, on the other hand, motivated by a static energy and will choose home based hobbies and community activity. Everything in and around the home that needs fixing will be done by this handyperson. It is most unlikely that Fours and Fives will spend much of their spare time together. The Five will find it difficult to draw the Four away from their vested interests, and, in turn, the Four will not place much confidence in the changing habits of the Five.

The most serious disagreements between these partners will be over their finances. Their disposition towards money is so different that feelings of mistrust and even deception can be evoked by each other’s actions. Fours are naturally thrifty people who have their present and future security constantly in mind, and to this end, they practice economy in their spending habits and undertake regular saving. They are cautious and conscientious in all their money dealings, and as far as possible follow the principle of neither borrowing nor lending money or their goods. They have a genuine fear of falling into unmanageable debt or risking their money in any form of gambling. Fives’ attitude to money is just the opposite as they rate experiences in life much higher than security, and to enjoy these experiences they develop free spending habits with little concern for the future. They are natural gamblers who have no fear of debt or frequent changes of fortune. Their firm belief in luck and persistence in games of chance often attracts sudden gains which do not influence the hardworking and disbelieving Four. A joint bank account is not advisable in this partnership. Invariably, the Four will maintain a secret and growing savings account, while the Five’s account will show a graph of regular highs and lows.

Their sex life is one aspect of the partnership in which they can expect at least partial compatibility. The 4 and 5 vibrations are among the strongest sex forces, and subjects of these vibrations can concentrate on physical enjoyment of sex without the need of sentiment and romance. However, these same forces, as in others that control these partners, take different directions that could eventually cause discord rather than concord; hence, the likelihood of only partial compatibility. Fours do not tire of giving and receiving sexual satisfaction, but their nature is such that they are content to preserve their sexual activity within the bonds of marriage or a relationship; nor do they possess the initial sex appeal or personal magnetism that may tempt them to venture outside the partnership. Fives on the other hand have a sensuous charm and a magnetic appeal to the opposite sex. The thrill of the chase and their imaginative, experimental and adventuresome temperament expose them to many temptations which they seldom resist. Consequently, they do not place the same importance that Fours do on constancy and fidelity. The more a Four partner tries to hold down a Five the more will the Five demand freedom and a variety of experience.

Positive Fours and Fives will be those born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. The 1 vibration in the birth month ensures self-confidence and the ability to maintain a proper direction in life. A partnership between these individuals is certain to spark off a serious personality clash, thereby neutralising many advantages they could use by mutual interchange of talents. If one partner or both are born in any other month, problems will still remain and the chances of their moving apart will be greater as less effort will be made towards some form of working relationship.

4TH AND 6TH BIRTHDAYS

The concentration of characteristics in single digit birthdays makes a compatibility assessment easier than a multiple digit combination. Our task is made even easier when both birthdays are governed by either receptive or active vibrations. The 4 and 6 vibrations governing the 4th and 6th birthdays offer one of the best examples of a successful combination on the basis of similarities as well as on the basis of dissimilarities. Their similarities arise from their receptive nature and their dissimilarities arise from their positions on different planes of expression. The 4 is the most complete, or the most physical of the three physical plane vibrations in terms of personality traits, and the 6 is the best balanced of the three mental plane vibrations. Receptive vibrations belonging to the same plane and acting together are not conducive to growth and enterprise as their interaction does not produce much that is new or stimulating. However, operating on different planes they interact successfully and productively. Although for the most part Four and Six personalities may express the same outlook on life they will do so in different ways.

Four and Six personalities usually follow the same pathways in life and invariably meet and mingle without hesitation or reservation. These are partnerships which naturally fulfil the expectations of both parties and prove to be successful in every way. There are several characteristics held in common that can build strong bonds between them, such as the application of sound commonsense in all their personal affairs and loyalty and devotion to their loved ones. As the vibrations of the emotional plane are not introduced into these birthdays Fours and Sixes are not given to expressing their sentiments or to outward demonstration of emotion. However, upon further examination it may be found that the presence of an emotional vibration in the birth month provides one or both in the partnership an outlet for emotional expression.

Other harmonious qualities they share by virtue of the receptive nature of their vibrations are the absence of impetuosity, restlessness and the urge for frequent change. Their lives are built upon careful planning and organisation, evenness of temperament and orderly and systematic habits. They are unhurried and deliberate thinkers. The sound commonsense of the Four agrees with the analytical and logical approach of the Six. Neither partner can be swayed by fast talk or any form of pressure by self-interested third parties. If hurried into accepting new ideas their immediate reaction is rejection and retreat into themselves. They are conservative in all their ways and conform without effort to prevailing ideas of right and wrong. The craving for balance and the restoration of balanced disturbed, in the human mind, will in general be found working in double strength in this partnership. People turn to both partners when they are in trouble. The Four attracts people for practical help and the Six for counselling of those who are mentally and emotionally disturbed.

Both personalities are non-competitive by nature and are therefore not impelled by ambition for high achievement in commerce, industry or the public services. They are content to establish themselves in a secure and comfortable position in life and live up to high ethical standards. They are an ideal pair for a family based business dealing in food, clothing, accommodation or household products. The 4 and 6 vibrations are the most domesticated of all vibratory forces. Home will be the centre of most of their pleasures. The artistic touch of the Six, the practicality of the Four, and the devotion of both will ensure that nothing is lacking in their home. Their kitchen and dining areas will be their special centre of activity. They are devoted parents and guardians but are likely to spoil their charges by doing too much for them. The Six, especially, could be over-protective and possessive.

Qualities they do not have in common by virtue of their different planes of expression are such that an advantageous interchange can be made without opposition from either party. Due to the enclosed nature of the 4 vibration, Four personalities are likely to follow a lifestyle tied to uniformity and limited horizons. However, under the influence of a benign Six partner the Four’s horizons of thought and action can be broadened and activated. The Four has difficulty coping with unexpected situations or the sudden need to handle a major issue, but shows no anxiety in day-to-day affairs which are handled with the consummate ease of a truly practical person. Sixes, despite the logical nature of their thoughts, tend to become anxious over petty things, but handle major issues with confidence. The more relaxed Six will also help relieve to some degree the discipline and rigidity positive Fours may introduce into their lives. Most Fours live by the letter of the law and expect others to do so too, but the Six is more inclined to live by the spirit of the law making allowance for circumstances and human weaknesses. The Six will rarely make a decision or move that will injure or hurt the feelings of another, but the Four could do so if convinced that they are merely abiding by established standards of right and wrong. There is room for a better sense of humour to be introduced into the daily affairs of the Four and this will be done in a subtle way by the friendly Six. Some Fours could be tainted by a measure of meanness and selfishness in regard to their material possessions. Six partners will help them overcome these possessive traits. Both parties believe that charity begins at home, but Sixes believe, in addition, that it should not stay there but also be carried into the community.

A contest for an authoritative role will not take place between these partners as neither the 4 nor 6 vibrations are forces of outright leadership. Everything that will be done in this partnership will be done by consensus. Though slow and even hesitant in making their decisions, once they are made they prove to be the best and rarely open to doubt or misinterpretation. Both partners are capable of shouldering the dual roles of working at home and full-time employment. If this happens to be the case, domestic duties will be shared equally. If one takes up the function of wage earner and the other the homemaker, both partners will be content in their respective roles. The trust they place in each other’s judgments and their capacity to conscientiously carry out allocated responsibilities will form the real strength of this partnership.

These personalities have emerged from full ego-centredness into a community based consciousness. They make friends and acquaintances by being interested and helpful to other people rather than by getting others to take an interest in them. Both are extroverted personalities but there is a difference in the form and degree of extroversion displayed by them. Fours may not be as free in their interaction with people but Sixes are at ease at all levels of personal contact. As men and women of deeds rather than words Fours prefer to keep themselves busy performing useful tasks rather than spend time in direct communication with people. Sixes, on the other hand, are extroverted towards direct social intercourse rather than physical activity. These differences, instead of driving a wedge between these partners in their social life, will complement each other in a way that will earn them high esteem in the community. The ways of the Six are much too middle-of-the-road to cause any pressures on the Four’s selective sociability. Fours and Sixes are not people who put on airs or false fronts. People feel at ease in their company. Sixes project a fatherly or motherly atmosphere and radiate warmth and peaceful vibrations while Fours project a brotherly or sisterly atmosphere and radiate vibrations of dependability and trust. This pair will be well known for their hospitality.

Six personalities hold their place with the best conversationalists in society. The highlight of their social activity will be a good long talk in congenial company, preferably supplemented by excellent food and drink. They are the easiest of people to strike up a conversation with in any situation. They are usually positive in their responses as they see the good rather than the bad in all things, and are able to communicate without arousing hostility, suspicion or tension. Their sense of humour is usually victimless and often turned upon themselves and their own absurdities. Fours, by comparison could be almost taciturn, expressing their thoughts in a few well chosen words and then getting on with whatever job they have in hand. Lengthy discussions and healthy arguments enjoyed by the Six will be regarded as a waste of valuable time. Sixes are logical but not dogmatic in their statements, however, Fours, who dislike being contradicted, could be dogmatic and often inflexible. They have very sensitive feelings and are defensive of the principles they hold. Four partners could only be persuaded to reconsider their views by a few quiet and gentle words said in private. Fours could at times be abrupt in speech and often inaccessible, but Sixes are always approachable and prepared to discuss personal matters. The only times the Six may not be their usually accessible selves are when they are in one of their moods of melancholy.

Sixes dislike and fear solitude or loneliness during their leisure periods. They need a companion to share their time with, and to do so will not look for anyone other than their partners. Fours are happiest when they are using their hands in some mechanical or other constructive work. Their concentration on the job at hand is such that they do not miss the presence of a companion. However, a Four partner is not likely to deprive the Six of companionship as they have the same high regard as the Six of the value of sharing experiences. Both partners’ hobbies are usually centred around the home. While the Six finds pleasure in decorative hobbies in the home and flower garden, the Four turns to a vegetable garden and general maintenance, repairs and additions to the home. The Six is also likely to become an avid reader on a variety of subjects. The one spot where they meet and exchange their talents will be the kitchen as both partners will take up cooking as a hobby and as an art form. As enthusiastic food lovers they will not only spend time together preparing their own dishes but will also be popular customers at restaurants specialising in international foods. The high sense of civic duty held by both will be another common bond that will have them acting as a twosome in community activity and social service. Family responsibilities will not be neglected as they will usually perform as a team.

With little variance in their attitudes towards income, expenditure, saving and investment, differences over money will be practically non-existent. Success in their financial affairs will be achieved through sound management and not necessarily from the size of their income. Both partners build for the future with a good sense of values. While going after bargains and demanding full value for their money, they are honest and trustworthy in all their financial dealings. They are not subject to impulsive buying, nor can they be tempted into new and untested investments that offer attractive returns. Fours place greater emphasis on money matters and this partner is likely to play a greater part in handling their financial affairs. They are also exposed to becoming attached to money for its own sake. Negative Fours could be mean with their money and cause some problems with their humanitarian Six partners. The Six neither worships nor denounces money but recognises its value for maintaining a settled lifestyle. Despite the Six’s well balanced nature there is a negative element of anxiety that disturbs this personality. Concern for their future financial condition is one of these anxieties. In partnership with a Four a Six personality may be relieved of some of their uneasiness.

Both Fours and Sixes are content to confine their intimate relations to one partner. Clandestine affairs will be quite out of character with either. They are totally loyal and devoted to their partners although sentimentality and outward expression of their love may not be observable. There are differences in their approach to sex on account of their separate planes of expression. The mentally oriented Six is subject to variation of mood and their physical needs and approachability are subject to their prevailing mood. The 6 vibration is influenced by Venus the planet of love. The love infused into the Six personality is not a purely physical love but has also a strong mental and spiritual quality. Physical expression of love has to take its turn with other forms of love expression. They are sexually aroused primarily through the mind and a proper atmosphere has to be set before they are ready. On the other hand, physically oriented Fours are rarely, if ever, subject to mood and are sexually aroused through the body. They are never unavailable for sex. They are realists first and last with little time for idealism, sentimentality and romance. They make excellent lovers on a physical level. Fours will need to study the rhythm of their Six partners before making any demands. The most successful partnerships will be formed between Fours and Sixes who are born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. These are positive and self-confident personalities who will form equalitarian partnerships and make the best use of their positive qualities. If both partners are born outside these months there is a possibility that they will lack the drive and self-assurance provided by the 1 vibration, and the partnership may not be as productive as it could be. If at least one partner has the 1 vibration in strength in the birth month or other significant area of influence the chances of success will be considerably advanced as this partner will take over much of the decision making.

4TH AND 7TH BIRTHDAYS

The numbers 4 and 7 are among the most favourable number combinations. Partnerships of any sort between people born on the 4th and 7th days offer considerable promise for material and personal wellbeing. Although the 4 and 7 vibrations occupy the physical plane, people influenced by them are easily distinguished by certain distinct differences in their essential nature. The vibratory forces of the 4 remain firmly set on the physical plane and all thought and subsequent action by Four personalities are generated within this plane. Fours may only venture into other dimensions or planes of expression to limited degrees if outlets are provided by other spheres of influence. The 7 vibration, on the other hand, is not only a vibration of matter but also one of spirit. Physical and spiritual forces intermingle in the Seven personality. These are of course uneasy bedfellows as the upward draw of the spiritual element and the downward pull of the physical element often raise much confusion regarding self-understanding in the minds of young Sevens and misunderstanding by others of most Sevens. Eventually, the enduring spiritual forces overtake the physical, signifying a non-material destination in life rather than a purely physical one. While a Four partner may therefore retain the same outlook on life, a Seven invariably undergoes a gradual personality change through sublimation of many of their physical needs and attachments. Therefore, the constitution of Fours and Sevens reveal many similarities and dissimilarities, yet, strangely enough, they will be found to be of a nature that, for the most part, integrates and binds rather than one that leads to conditions of stagnation and indifference, or hostility and disunity. On the occasions when they take up separate lines of thought and action they will do so with mutual agreement and respect without endangering the solid foundations of their partnership. Characteristics peculiar to the receptive polarity of the 4 vibration and the active polarity of the 7, also introduce similarities and dissimilarities. Here again, personality differences caused by opposite polarities attract and complement in such a way that facilitates cooperation.

For access to the emotional plane both personalities will depend on other areas of influence. However, the weighty influence of the physical element in the 4 and 7 vibrations of the birthday will still restrict an easy flow of emotion despite the presence of other outlets. As their emotional needs and the capacity to handle demonstrations of emotion are evenly matched, limited expressions of emotion suit these partners. Both suffer embarrassment when exposed to an outward show of emotion. Their warmer feelings are deep within and are expressed in indirect ways, especially in selfless devotion and personal service to each other. Fours usually give vent to their feelings in physical activity and Sevens do so in aesthetic pursuits such as poetry, music and spiritual or religious activity. The judgments of these partners are not swayed by their feelings as both are able to see things realistically and not through the bias of emotionally charged views.

Due to their wholly physical and practical outlook, Fours are concerned with facts and the application of facts as presented to them. Objective reality or external forces are their field of endeavour. Their minds are open to concrete knowledge and in doing so they display great physical courage and endurance. By virtue of the spiritual dimension in which they also find motive and cause for action, Sevens are engrossed by ideas behind the facts or the cause of things. Their values are sought through internal forces and their minds are open to abstract as well as concrete knowledge. In doing so, they display great mental courage and persistence. Fours take life as they find it, but to the Seven, life is a riddle to be investigated and solved. Fours may not understand their introspective Seven partners but, do not find themselves threatened by the Seven’s ventures into matters outside their realms of thought or beyond their understanding. Sevens are not preachers and will not attempt to impose their thoughts and beliefs on their Four partners. Fours will accept their Seven partners for who they are and will not try to question or probe into the depths of the Seven’s personality. They do not have the mental curiosity to do so; and besides, the mind of the Seven is not easily penetrated.

Fours and Sevens are people who take up their responsibilities seriously and diligently. Mutual trust and reliance on each other’s sense of duty will lead to an equal distribution of authority. One will not cramp or restrict the style of the other, nor will they interfere in each other’s areas of responsibility. Joint decisions will be made in all important matters. These are partners who will be prepared to subordinate individual demands to the obligations they have to each other and to the needs of the home and family life in general. They are hard workers who are able to undergo considerable hardship in order to achieve a goal or overcome adverse times. They are non-competitive people who prefer to concentrate on whatever job they have in hand without meeting the pressures of rivalry and opposition. This attitude is reflected in their personal life as well as in their public life. As workers they tend to acquire specialised skills and draw greater fulfilment from a job they know has been well done rather than from recognition from others for their efforts. With more practical talents, and the absence of distractions from other spheres of thought, Fours make more efficient and contented homemakers. They are equally successful breadwinners as they are able to adjust themselves into whatever pattern of work or field of activity that their destiny places them. Sevens do not have the same domestic impulses but are no less efficient if called upon to take up full-time duties as homemakers. They will certainly revel in the peace and quiet offered in a home atmosphere as opposed to the turmoil of public life. Domestic responsibilities will be willingly performed and satisfaction obtained from duty well done, but their real fulfilment will be obtained by supplementing these duties with courses in self-improvement in the physical, cultural and spiritual aspects of life. As true nature lovers they will choose to spend much more time in the garden than in household chores.

This is also a well-matched pair in regard to social life. Neither partner is dependent on social life for their wellbeing, which is for the most part, self-generated and not subject to the vagaries of society. Both are rather conservative types who have no urge to follow fashions or keep up with the latest trends in social conduct. They choose to move within a selected circle of intimate friends and strictly avoid the noise and confusion of crowded places. They experience no feelings of guilt when they insist on their need for privacy and their right to select or reject social obligations. Neither do they set out to create favourable impressions upon others of themselves. The inner strength of these personalities lies in the fact that they are generally in charge of themselves and willingly assume personal responsibility for their wellbeing. While they see society as an essential part of life they refuse to be ruled by it and feel no need to identify with a group in order to gain confidence. They live by simple rules and do not set expectations they have to live up to. They maintain a relatively humble opinion of themselves, yet, they are usually highly regarded by those who know them. Sevens customarily take their place in society through the medium of knowledge in physical and metaphysical aspects of life while the Four becomes known for the practical service they are ever ready to offer anyone in need. While all Fours usually maintain a steady and predictable manner of behaviour Sevens will be found with various types of introverted behaviour, ranging from a gentle aloofness to a cool remoteness. Fours and Sevens can afford to loosen up a bit, enjoy a wider range of social pleasures and allow themselves more room for laughter and light-hearted activity.

The 4 and 7 are certainly among the most restricted speech vibrations. As a result, Four and Seven personalities not only find difficulty translating their thought into fluent speech but also do not feel the urge to make an effort to overcome this problem. They have instead developed an alternative skill whereby they are able to reduce whatever they have to say to a few well chosen and meaningful words, accompanied by eloquent, yet undemonstrative body language. In this way they are able to talk little but say much. They are neither tense, hurried nor apologetic in their verbal or non-verbal communication. In the company of others they do not feel embarrassed when conversation languishes and they do not contribute to the flow of talk. They would rather remain behind a barrier of silence when topics of conversation run out or do not interest them. Sevens, especially, withdraw deep within themselves when trapped in company full of trivial conversation. Both partners are better listeners than talkers but resent being questioned about their own affairs. Others should wait until either party is prepared to talk before they become acquainted with their affairs and it is not often they will be given the opportunity. Between themselves their natural reticence will be accepted as an advantage rather than a disadvantage.

These partners could spend their spare time in individual pastimes as well as in shared interests and thereby maintain a proportionate amount of separateness and togetherness. In either situation they will support each other and reap many benefits as their hobbies will usually be home based and often of a profitable nature. Fours, who are happiest when they are doing something with their hands usually take up hobbies such as carpentry, mechanics, dressmaking, pottery, sculpture and general maintenance work. Following their studious dispositions Sevens become involved in studies of an esoteric nature. They are also attached to things of the past and are drawn to anything that is ancient and historical. If there is a 2 vibration in their personality structure they often become collectors of memorabilia. By virtue of their placement on the physical plane a magnetic attraction to Mother Earth is another factor in common with these individuals. As a fortunate consequence both partners will seek pastimes in which they could share their time and talents in a wide field of open-air activity offered by the earth and its products. Some popular areas that will draw them will be agriculture, horticulture, geology, metallurgy, zoology and real estate. They will also find profit and enjoyment as beekeepers, home brewers, home gardeners and florists. All Sevens need to spend time in a private world of contemplation and introspection and a Four partner will respect this need. In fact, a Four will not dare question or disturb a Seven during these periods. Community work taken up by the Four will always receive the cooperation and support of their Seven partners. Though Fours usually work in the background of activity, Sevens, with their semi-reclusive nature, will be found even further away from positions of prominence.

These partners are among the best money managers although their attitudes towards money may not always be the same. They have a good sense of values and their habits are seldom extravagant or wasteful. All their money transactions are based on honesty, trustworthiness, and straightforward dealings. Gambling, borrowing, indebtedness or other forms of financial manipulation are foreign to their nature. Fours may be impressed by wealth and could surrender themselves to the power of money and attachment to their material possessions, but Sevens are usually unimpressed by material wealth and will remain the master and not the servant of their possessions. Both partners have a happy knack of sitting back and enjoying their possessions instead of wishing for more or envying the goods of others. Theirs will always be a financially sound partnership as both partners can make sacrifices, pull in their purse strings and make every penny work in times of difficulty.

Fours and Sevens choose their partners with care and once their choice has been made they remain loyal and dutiful in every respect. Clandestine affairs will be quite out of character as neither personality looks for thrills, variety or experimentation in their sex lives. Several points of resemblance in their dispositions hold out promise for harmonious integration of their intimate lives. Arising from their conservative temperaments both partners practice self-discipline, respect for the opposite sex and strict honesty in their dealing with one another. They do not like being fussed over and are not individuals who try to manipulate the lives of others. They will not embarrass each other by deceit, flirtation, excess of sentiment, impetuosity or other forms of outward show of uncontrolled emotions. Physical expression of their love becomes a strictly private matter. There may be times when Fours will need to exercise their patience and self-control before they receive expected responses from Seven partners. Unlike physically oriented Fours, Sevens often lie in a dual dimension of awareness – physical and the metaphysical. They need an atmosphere charged with the right vibrations before they are ready for lovemaking. They could suddenly lose interest if a discordant note is introduced, but once a proper setting is established they release their feelings and become genuine lovers.

The 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months will produce positive Four and Seven personalities. The 1 vibration in these months will give them the drive that is necessary to obtain maximum use of their talents. Individuals born in other months may not have the same self-confidence. However, this will not affect the partnership’s potential for success. It may transpire that the Seven partner will have a slight advantage over the Four when the need for sudden decision arises.

4TH AND 8TH BIRTHDAYS

The 4 vibration is doubtlessly the best representative of the physical plane. As the symbol of the planet Earth its powers are exclusively of an earthly nature covering the full spectrum of the phenomenal aspects of life, to the exclusion of the emotional, imaginative and abstract realms. The 8 vibration, on the other hand, despite its placement on the emotional plane, does not possess the same exclusiveness or containment within its natural field of expression. In addition to the characteristics relative to the emotional plane it operates, for the most part, as a double 4, and therefore displays many physical and material attributes of this vibration, and does so in double strength. It works as a vibration of power in the material world relegating its emotional qualities to a secondary position.

Material values and the drive for success and power in public life take precedence over other considerations in a combination where couples have 4th and 8th birthdays. With little or no contrary features in their dispositions Four and Eight personalities generally attract one another and remain supportive and loyal to each other. Most Fours not only see in the Eight personality a reflection of the ideal they would like to obtain, but also discover other qualities they soon begin to admire. As a rule Fours do not seek roles as leaders, but instead prefer to give their allegiance to persons of strong will, sound practical knowledge and strength of purpose. As they see and admire these qualities in Eight partners they do not hesitate to follow their leadership and in doing so, do not surrender their individuality, and instead, under the motivation of the Eight, actually extend and enhance the range of their individuality. The roles they assume may be in many ways subordinate, but, in no way are they subservient. Eights are natural leaders and organisers and in all partnerships automatically assume that the authoritative role belongs to them, and unconsciously begin managing their partners and the affairs of the partnership. They are much too authoritative by nature to settle for subordinate roles or equal partnerships. In addition to these prominent characteristics their chances of success as leaders or senior partners are greatly increased by their ability to wisely delegate duties and responsibilities to others.

Any form of responsibility delegated to a Four partner will be carried out efficiently and dutifully.

As material success is essential to both, opportunities to acquire wealth and position are never wasted. With personal traits of high ambition, competitiveness and self-assertiveness the Eight will lead the way. The combination formed by this partnership will contribute further qualities conducive to success, such as determination, self-discipline, practical judgment, deliberation, dependability and self-reliance. Both partners have the capacity to work long and hard, sacrificing other considerations to the attainment of a desired goal. No task undertaken by either party will be left undone. In their respective areas of responsibility, neither partner will admit a task or problem has beaten them. Urged on by their high ambition and assertive nature, Eights seldom settle for second best. Conflicts and challenges energise these personalities to such an extent that they enjoy a struggle against opposition and invariably become formidable opponents. Another unique quality of the Eight’s leadership is the ability to make people feel wanted, which in turn produces their best performance. As Four personalities respond easily to the Eight’s quality of leadership many of their latent possibilities become active powers. Their self-image is strengthened to the degree that they find themselves taking rank with their self-assertive Eight partners on most occasions. Both personality types are inclined to spend too much time at work and insufficient time in restful and relaxing hobbies. The hard lesson both will need to learn is to slow down and give each other more time to enjoy the lighter side of life. Circumstances allowing, the Eight partner will readily accept full responsibility as the sole breadwinner and homemaker. At the same time this partner will depend heavily on the Four to assume domestic responsibilities. Eights become too deeply involved in their public life to be able to cope with the dual role of breadwinner and homemaker. Their emotional involvement in business and public life often causes tensions, frustration, and physical, mental and emotional strain, preventing them from taking up additional responsibilities in household and family affairs. Conscientious Four partners are not likely to confront them with domestic problems. While Fours accept the authority of the Eight in all business matters the Eight will do the same with the Four in all household matters. This will be the ideal arrangement. However, if the position is reversed, the Eight partner will become a restless and unfulfilled homemaker as they need a much wider field to express their administrative and organisational skills. Fours do not put in the same emotional energy as the Eights and as such, do not suffer the frustrations, let-downs and other ailments relative to emotional strain. They have their wants and ambitions but not always the motivation and competitiveness to satisfy them. They may be hard pressed to keep up with the incitements of an ambitious and disillusioned Eight partner who is confined to household duties.

Following their conservative dispositions both partners will choose to move within the established order of society and dedicate themselves to guaranteeing the continuance of the system. Fours are customarily drawn into direct involvement in the care and protection of the community in areas such as the police force, prison systems, fire services and the armed forces. Eights are attracted by their natural sense of justice to the legal profession as lawmakers and administrators of the law. The social life of both partners is likely to be closely allied to people connected with their public duties, as mentioned earlier. Despite their ability to exercise order and control in their lives both may allow work and other public responsibilities to consume an excessive part of their time leaving very little for social activity. Fours are only mildly extroverted people who do not depend on sustained social involvement for their happiness. They are reserved people who do not go out of their way to make acquaintances. They will seldom be found in unproductive social activity as they usually find some way to be useful in a practical manner. Eights are usually self-sufficient, yet they are rather more extroverted and self-assured in company. They make friends easily though they seldom find time to indulge in close friendships. The emotional aspects of their nature give them greater sympathy and understanding of human problems so that they project an aura of benign authority and wisdom, while Fours project an aura of dependability and expertise in specialised fields. People are attracted to the Eight for advice in financial matters and other personal problems. Fours attract people for the practical service they are always willing and able to give. Although both partners will have limited social contact, people of their acquaintance who are in any sort of trouble will never be let down by them. Both partners should take care to choose their friends and acquaintances from people unconnected to their public duties. Between themselves, there will be no dissension in their choice of company or social activities.

Both partners are unlikely to gain popularity as interesting and versatile conversationalists. They are too fond of talking about their work experiences. This habit may be a source of strength to each other but is certain to cause irritation and boredom in general company. In addition, they show indifference to topics introduced by others that have no direct relation to their business, particularly topics of an abstract or speculative nature. Except when elaborating on their business, each has a manner of speech that is direct, sparing and forthright. Their words and phrases are simple and to the point. They do not release emotion in oral expression, and are intolerant of evasive, argumentative, ambiguous and flamboyant speech. Without anticipating disapproval or contradiction of their views they speak their minds at all times using inexpressive yet authoritative body language. These habits of speech make them well suited for each other and provide an instant understanding of their needs and wishes with minimum verbalisation. Fours are usually more dogmatic and uncompromising in their views but Eights could be surprisingly gentle and tactful as well as positive and forceful in their manner of handling a contentious issue. In family matters decisions of the heart may override decisions of the mind in the Eight partner, but the Four will usually stubbornly abide by commonsense and practical considerations.

True to their practical nature and the absence of inner restlessness Fours take to home based hobbies. Their thoughts are channelled into physical skills and the application of practical knowledge to useful and profitable pastimes. In exceptional circumstances only will outside help be called upon to repair anything in the Four’s home. They are wizards at fixing things even without prior knowledge of how objects were first put together. As genuine handypersons they take up any challenge before they pay for a tradesman’s skills. Though Eights too acquire a variety of practical knowledge they prefer directing, instructing and delegating jobs to others rather than using their hands. Unlike their Four partners they are not natural handypersons and are more likely to become involved in highly competitive sport, especially body contact sports, but will not do so as enthusiastically as their Eight partners. They are more likely to spend time gardening, doing carpentry, mechanics and other functional pastimes calling for aptitude and dexterity with their hands. These partners may not spend much time together in their leisure hours but there is no doubt that they will be generously supportive of each other in whatever pastime they may take up. They are generally independent types who do not feel isolated or neglected if they are left to their own devices.

Two of the strongest financial vibrations are symbolised by the numbers 4 and 8. In human terms the powers of the 4 are concentrated on personal welfare and in small business enterprises while those of the 8 are focused on public welfare and big business. Fours are persons who look after the pennies and let the pounds look after themselves, as the saying goes. Their sound sense of values is religiously applied to management of personal income, expenditure and savings. At the same time they are meticulous and trustworthy workers in situations as cashiers, accountants, treasurers and auditors, or in any other position involving money transactions. Eights, on the other hand could be careless about personal financial affairs that need to be carried out on a day-to-day basis as their minds are usually fixed on bigger issues. Their extensive administrative skills and financial acumen will be geared towards management of corporate money, property and other public or company assets. A Four/ Eight combination therefore will be an exceptionally prosperous one in regard to the financial aspects of life provided the ideal situation is obtained whereby the skills of the Eight are used as the chief provider and those of the Four are used as the full-time or part-time homemaker. The partnership will still be quite stable if the position is reversed but the potential for unlimited prosperity will be reduced with the less ambitious Four as the chief provider.

Both parties unwittingly expose themselves to an obstruction to their intimate relations by, once again, being over-dedicated to work, careers and future prospects for themselves and their children, and not allowing adequate time and devotion to each other. The situation is further encouraged by the fact that both are unromantic types who are likely to take each other’s love and loyalty for granted and overlook the sentimental aspects of their relationship. Their feelings are often bottled up by their busy lives and also from a constitutional distaste for emotional displays of any sort. There is also a lack of imagination and variety in their lovemaking. Warm hearts are usually obscured by a stern outer appearance and their inability to verbalise their love. Both partners will need to be conscious of the fact that they cannot allow public and family responsibilities and ambitions to erode any of their personal happiness and personal intimacy or cut short their ‘honeymoon’. One way they could help themselves is by preventing or avoiding the recurrence of the numbers 4 and 8 in their lives, or any number that reduces to a 4 or 8. This caution should apply particularly to house numbers, important dates and other anticipated events.

Positive Fours and Eights will be found among those born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. The 1 vibration in the birth month will ensure that these personalities will be motivated by the best positive aspects of the 4 and 8 vibrations. A partnership between positive Four’s and positive Eights will be exceptionally successful. The personality of the Eight always looms a little larger than that of the Four except in the case of a partnership in which the Four is born in one of these months and the Eight is not. The Eight’s strength of purpose will then be weakened and the Four invariably will take up the decision making role.

4TH AND 9TH BIRTHDAYS

At first glance the physical and mental planes would seem to control these birthdays. This is certainly the case with the 4th day, as the 4 vibration is complete and self-contained in its physical elements. Unlike the other two physical plane vibrations (1 and 7) it does not reach out to other dimensions of thought and action but remains firmly fixed on the physical plane, and within this containment or fixity lies its strength and limitation. The 9 vibration is not only the senior of the three mental plane vibrations it is also the most advanced of all the single digit vibrations insofar as it contains in fulfilment all the earlier stages of development represented by the digits 1 to 8. It is the direct opposite of the 1, which contains in potential the eight stages of development to follow. However, in the overall structure of the 9 vibration, mental, emotional, spiritual and intuitional forces predominate at the expense of the physical.

People born on the 4th and 9th days are direct opposites in almost every respect. They inhabit different worlds not only by virtue of their separate planes of expression but also by their opposite polarities – the 4 vibration being receptive and the 9 active, or negative and positive respectively, as in electricity. There can be little doubt that when Fours and Nines meet they will sooner or later submit to the law of attraction of opposites. In all partnerships between people of opposite temperaments the need for several adjustments arises as soon as initial fascination of their honeymoon days has worn off. Quite often these adjustments are not faced without opposition, resentment, fear and disillusionment. In a Four/Nine partnership adjustment to different characteristics will meet with much less resistance and, for the most part, will be assisted by a spontaneous and cooperative interchange of personality traits and individual talents. For a start, neither one will insist on outright authority over the other. These are not personality types who are compulsive leaders, nor do they attempt by devious means to organise or manipulate the lives of others. They are authoritative within their own fields of endeavour and do not feel the urge to impose their will on others. Despite the fact that the Nine will in many ways reveal a more open-minded and magnetic personality by virtue of their access to several planes of expression, this partnership will be one of equals. The unique quality of wisdom is acquired at the 9 stage of development and no individual blessed with this quality will downgrade or belittle the efforts of another. The Nine’s innate wisdom will recognise and acknowledge the Four’s superiority on the physical plane and not dwell upon their limitation on the other planes of expression. As Nines are also above all forms of egotism and self-pride they have the humility to discount talents in their own planes of expression and admit their own limitation on the physical plane. All decisions in this partnership will be made by mutual consultation, by use of the Nine’s breadth of vision and the Four’s practicality. The commonsense of the Four and the wisdom of the Nine can build up a team spirit of such strength that these partners will give each other positive feedback in all circumstances. Their main differences which stem from the Nine’s global outlook on life and the Four’s localised outlook will not be regarded as liabilities that separate them, but as reciprocal strengths that bind them. While both personality types abide by high moral principles there is a difference in their method and range of application.

Their basic personality may remain the same but the Nine’s influence upon the Four will broaden their outlook and change some provincial attitudes. At the same time, while the Nine’s basic personality remains unchanged, the Four’s influence will restrain and safeguard impetuosity, impressionability and an over-generous nature. The 9 vibration is not personal or self-oriented. Having a strong kinship with all life it spreads its influence far afield into the world at large. The 4 vibration, on the other hand, concentrates on centralisation and consolidation within a well defined range of activity. The Nine’s objectives in life are essentially idealistic, humanitarian and spiritualistic while those of the Four are practical and materialistic, and oriented towards family and community. While the ambitions of the Four are directed almost exclusively towards material and physical comforts, those of the Nine have evolved into aspirations for cultural and spiritual progress. Evidence of their interest in these realms of knowledge will be observed increasingly as the Nine personality matures in years. All Nines lead very involved lives and inevitably face or meet with many ups and downs or ‘snakes and ladders’ in life. They are nevertheless well equipped to cope with these highs and lows in their personal relations and fortunes. While handling their good tines with dignity and self-possession they also possess the unique ability to re-build, re-establish and make a successful come-back after a reversal of fortune. As can be easily imagined pragmatic Fours set out to organise their lives with caution, regularity and even simplicity so that the chances of sudden changes of fortune or interference from extraneous sources are minimised, and the need to re-establish or re-locate themselves is seldom faced.

Fours willingly fit themselves into a secure niche in a suburban or country atmosphere, undertaking responsibilities as breadwinners or homemakers. They are trustworthy and dependable in either capacity and remain happy while entrenched in their destined positions, avoiding change, movement and travel. Nines do not make contended and conscientious homemakers. Such a lifestyle, noble it may be, will be regarded as a limitation of their horizons and frustration of their ideals. They serve best as executives or professionals in areas where they can satisfy their need to intermingle and involve themselves with others. They are essentially city people who need to operate within the heart of the community and take advantage of the varied activities city life has to offer. They will not hesitate to change direction in employment if opportunities for wider contact with humanitarian and cultural aspects of life become available. Unlike their Four partners they are not conditioned by a need for material security. They are also susceptible to illness as their output of energy is spread in so many directions, often without respite. Fours are much more resistant to illness as their lifestyle makes fewer demands upon their nervous system. They are physically strong and emotionally stable personalities who remain in good health throughout their lives.

Nines are socially extroverted people who are at ease in all sorts of company. However, given a choice, their selection of company is made from mentally oriented and elegant sections of the community. They are people who need people and therefore seek the company of their peers so that this essential part of their wellbeing can be fulfilled. Isolated and lonely living conditions will destroy their sense of purpose. Their sympathetic attunement with life will resist restriction to a narrow or limited range of social activity. Their Four partners are comparatively independent of direct social intercourse as they prefer to spend their time doing things that will be of practical benefit to themselves or the community. They are essentially people of action while Nines may be classed as people of activity in the sense that they will always be involved in society, movement, church or humanitarian organisations. Fours are by no means introverts but social interaction will always be a sequel or consequence of their direct involvement in some work or project.

The contrasting social attitudes of Fours and Nines are wonderfully complementary. Not only can they avoid treading on each other’s toes as social rivals but also seize the opportunity to combine their talents and form an exceptionally popular team. Fours are strictly traditionalists. While Nines are modernists for the most part they respect the traditionalism of the Four. At the same time their subtle influence helps their Four partners to adjust their perspectives to changing conditions. Nines make and keep friends by showing interest in their affairs and helping them in the capacity of healers, counsellors and confidants. They are always more interested in human contact and sentiment than in objects and expediency. Fours acquire popularity through their ability and willingness to give practical assistance to anyone in need. Both partners find themselves admired and appreciated without putting in an effort to acquire popularity.

Nines stand out as fluent, versatile and knowledgeable conversationalists. They are attentive listeners who do not interrupt or cut into the speech of others, but instead, listen with patience and understanding. Their comprehensive outlook on life gives them the keenness and enthusiasm to discuss almost any subject. They are also open to dialogue and debate on the views they present. Their thoughts and emotions are verbalised with ease and accompanied by dignified body language. Fours, on the other hand, suffer from oral limitation and consequently find difficulty transferring their thoughts and emotions into speech. They may often appear curt and abrupt without meaning to offend as their desire is to express whatever needs to be said in a few precise words. Unlike the Nine personality, they take up an entrenched position with their considered views and resist any challenge or dissection of their opinions. A few wise judgments will be needed between these partners before they can communicate freely on an intimate level. Fours may feel frustrated by the Nine’s fluency with words and their own difficulty in expressing themselves. Also, the Nine’s views are tempered by sentiment and romance while the Four’s are based on practicality and utility. Furthermore, Fours are not subject to moods and therefore their speech and general behaviour is less variable and more predictable. Nines are subject to mood swings and to a much wider range of subtle influences which make them much less predictable in every way. They could, from time to time, behave in ways contrary to what others come to expect of them When angry or depressed, and despite their natural wisdom, they are not free from their negative traits. They close in tightly, making it difficult for their Four partners to get close to them to ascertain the cause of their problem.

Nines are genuine travellers by nature as they need to familiarise themselves with cultures other than their own. No sooner has one journey been completed, they may begin to plan another, much to the bewilderment of their non-travelling Four partners. Given the same means and opportunity, travelling will be their principal hobby. When not on their travels their leisure time will be spent with music, literature, the theatre, and in other art forms. Apart from local movement, Fours have no interest in distant travel, nor do they place much emphasis on abstract learning. Books kept in a Four’s library will be of a scientific or practical nature. They are happiest spending their spare time using their dexterous hands and constructive minds to produce something useful for the home or garden. While Nines turn to meditative pleasures and mental enjoyment of nature, Fours prefer to obtain some material benefit from Mother Nature in hobbies such as fishing, gardening, fossicking, and other profitable pastimes. Nines will shower a great deal of love and affection on their pets while Fours will keep them in what they consider to be a proper place for animals, while appreciating their loyalty and utility value.

Money matters are likely to be the only cause of serious clashes between these partners. Their opposite temperaments become most evident in their attitudes towards money. Fours are strictly business minded people with a highly responsible sense of values. They demand full value for every dollar they spend and cannot be persuaded to purchase anything they do not really need., or even look at anything that is not of practical use. Their minds are set on financial security. Nines display opposite tendencies. Having no attachment to money for its own sake and no anxiety over future needs, they spend freely. They are impulsive buyers who consider the Four’s habits of bargain hunting a waste of time. They are too open-minded, impressionable and vulnerable to deception by others to build up any degree of business acumen. They are over-generous when their emotions are aroused and could part with their possessions even to their own disadvantage. To overcome an emotional crisis they could go on an irresponsible spending spree. In their opinion, their Four partners could be too tight-fisted and possessive. However, regardless of the Nine’s opinion all transactions should be placed in the safe hands of the Four.

These personalities are so differently cast in their sentimental and emotional attitudes that some heartache in their intimate lives will be inevitable until greater understanding is achieved. Fours are generally unromantic personalities who are likely to remain unaware of the emotionality of the Nine. As they lack the same sensitivity they may not appreciate the variations of mood and subtle nuances that affect the Nine. Nevertheless, Fours and Nines make compatible sexual partners, provided the Four takes care to follow the emotional changes in the Nine. Nines, on the other hand, must understand that the self-controlled and emotionally steady Four cannot produce the spontaneity and sentimentality they expect. They will eventually realise that the Four’s love is expressed through loyalty, duty, and selfless service rather than outward demonstrations of sentiment. Settlement of various differences between these partners will usually be initiated by the Nine who does not harbour grievances and is therefore able to settle problems without bitterness. They are not judgmental people and do not condemn others for their failings. Fours may not be as kindly and compassionate in their attitudes. They are not easily upset but once they have been hurt or angered they could become bitter and prejudiced, taking some time to forgive and forget.

Positive Fours and Nines make the best partnerships. These are personalities who are born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. However, if only one partner is born in one of these months it will be this partner who will take a leading role in the partnership. Both Fours and Nines, whether positive or negative have a tendency towards indecision and this problem will be aggravated if both are negatively inclined. The negative Four becomes lazy and indecisive, and the negative Nine becomes over-emotional, over-sensitive and bad tempered as well as indecisive.

4TH AND 10TH BIRTHDAYS

The 1st day of the month and the 10th day are both controlled by the 1 vibration. However, the presence of the Zero in the 10th day has the effect of intensifying the powers of the 1 vibration as it does for the 2 and 3 vibrations in the 20th and 30th days respectively. The chapter on the 1st and 4th birthdays will cover the 4th and 10th combination, but, the reinforced qualities of the 10th day should be kept in mind.

Four and Ten personalities use the physical plane as their field of operation. Concentration on one thought, one action, one subject or one task at any given time is a characteristic common to both parties. As a natural consequence of their one-pointed minds, qualities such as adaptability, flexibility, imagination and cooperation are not found in any degree of strength. The vibration of the birth month plays an important and significant role with these partners. Their excessive individuality and fixity of purpose could be eased by vibrations from the emotional and mental planes. On the other hand the repetition of the 1 and 4 vibration in the birth month in either personality will intensify their one-pointedness, and focus their attention entirely on physical and practical matters at the expense of sentimental expression and abstract thought. Regardless of the months in which these partners are born, the Ten personality will assume the role of leader and the Four will willingly take up the role of supporter and collaborator.

4TH AND 11TH BIRTHDAYS

Certain obvious differences are recognisable in this birthday combination. The source of these differences is the uniform nature of the 4 vibration and the multiform character of the 11 vibration. Unlike other vibrations which have extensions of a secondary nature into planes of expression other than their own, the 4 is a strictly earthbound vibration identified with physical and material aspects of life. Besides the number, 4, this vibration is also symbolised by the square indicating a locking in, as it were, on four sides of the force of this vibration allowing no departure into, or distraction by other planes of expression. The concentration of 4 characteristics within set limits creates the great strength and tenacity natural to the 4. As a solid and straightforward force it produces uncomplicated and down-to-earth personalities whose lives are governed by practical and physical realities. However, as a consequence of their fixity of purpose, unfettered qualities such as flexibility, adaptability, spontaneity and imagination are weak in Four personalities.

To a reader unfamiliar with the science of numbers the 11 may appear to have many features in common with the 4 by virtue of the pair of 1 vibrations which also belong to the physical plane. This is however not quite the case, as, in the first instance, the 11 taken as a whole is a master vibration with very little in common with the physical plane. Secondly, when reduced to a single digit it manifests as a strong 2 vibration which is not a physical plane vibration. But here again, it cannot be taken as a plain 2 but as a 2 reinforced by many elements of the 1 vibration. Not all persons born on the 11th day live up to the full power of the master vibration. In fact, it is only the minority that does. Most live in an intermediate state or as strong Twos. Environmental advantages or disadvantages and the degree of progress on the path of cultural and spiritual advancement determine these variations. Those who live up to the powers of the master vibration remain in an expanded state of consciousness that is focused on spiritual realities. This is, of course, the antithesis of the physical realities of the Four. The personality is elevated by qualities such as inspiration, revelation, intuition and vision. Due to these non-physical elements, Eleven personalities do not seek material gain, nor are they ambitious for worldly power. The paths of Fours and these Elevens are unlikely to cross. However, there is always the off-chance that a Four and a young or undeveloped Eleven may enter into a partnership. If this does occur the couple will sooner or later begin to realise certain basic differences in their outlook on life. On the other hand, Fours and Elevens who motivate as powerful Twos, have many ingredients suitable for a compatible relationship. The physical plane qualities of the 1 vibration are much more active in these Two/Elevens than in Elevens operating in the rarefied atmosphere of the master vibration. The chapter on the 2nd and 4th birthdays provides useful information that can be applied to this combination, but the fact that the Two/Eleven is much stronger and individualistic than the plain Two should be borne in mind.

People born on the 11th day can also be broadly classed as restricted or unrestricted personalities. This is usually determined by the birth month and to a lesser degree the birth year. Restricted Elevens are those born in the 1st, 10th and 11th months. Their restriction of self-expression, of course, is caused by the predominance of the 1 vibration or the absence of openings in other points of expression. All other months produce unrestricted Elevens. While most Elevens are idealists, reformers and inventors at heart not all are able to convert their ideas into action and personal example. Those best able to do so are Two/Elevens. Elevens who motivate nearer to the force of the master vibration, and they are usually found among those who are unrestricted, prefer to expound on what they believe needs to be done leaving others to take up the practical application of their ideas. Unless these Elevens learn to integrate their ideals with the realities of living they become unacceptable partners to the down-to-earth Four. Two/Elevens channel their great inventive and creative powers into the arts and sciences. With the exception of a possible interest in the occult sciences, they will earn the respect and support of their Four partners. Fours are not leaders but instead, by nature, are supporters and followers. However, their valuable support and loyalty is given only to those they respect for their productivity and capacity to establish a safe and secure lifestyle. Two/Elevens and those of the restricted type are certainly able to measure up to, and even surpass the Four’s rarefied expectations. Elevens who live in the atmosphere of abstract thought will be regarded by the pragmatic Four as mere preachers and dreamers despite the validity of some of their ideas. Elevens of all types are not leaders of people but leaders in ideas and new concepts for the betterment of living conditions. They are individuals who cannot be dominated or deprived of their freedom. Despite a universal outlook on life there is a strong element of egotism and ego-centredness in their personality structure. They are not averse to thrusting their thoughts on others; nor will they subordinate their ideals and interests to responsibilities and adjustments needed in a partnership. Much personality adjustment in the course of a relationship cannot be expected of these people. In any case, it is not in the nature of a Four partner to attempt to change them. Fours themselves are fixed in their ways and prefer to be left alone. A close union or an interlocking relationship is not likely to develop between these individualistic and emotionally restricted individuals.

Except for the restricted types, all Elevens and Two/Elevens are too mentally restless and spiritually inquisitive to be able to settle down to the mundane duties of a homemaker. An identity crisis at the early stages of life is not uncommon resulting in some delay in establishing proper direction in life. In the meantime their personal affairs may be in disorder, and this state of affairs will definitely displease an organised Four partner. These Elevens will come to depend excessively on their practical Four partners who will invariably undertake more than their share of household responsibilities. Their unconventional ways will undoubtedly clash with the Four’s traditional boundaries of thought and behaviour. Many of the Four’s domestic rules and regulations will be irksome and restrictive to the generally disorganised Eleven.

Once again, except the restricted types, most Elevens and Two/Elevens, are extroverted personalities who are ever ready to challenge the status quo and follow self-imposed standards of conduct. They act as the spirit moves them and are largely indifferent to public or private opinion. Fours are mildly extroverted persons who abide by and help maintain the mores of society. They are selective and discreet in their choice of friends and acquaintances and careful to keep up a good name and reputation. While these people feel at home in conventional groups and local activities, Elevens are in their element in avant-garde circles and among activists and reformers. Restricted Elevens are more comfortable with the Four’s traditional habits. They prefer the shelter of conventionality as they do not have the same extroverted attitudes to attempt changes in their environment.

Clear differences between Fours and Elevens can also be seen in their habits of speech. Elevens are fluent speakers who delight in holding the attention of an audience. It will not matter to them if their audience is composed of a single person or several persons. An inattentive, boisterous or bored audience will not deter these self-centred speakers. They will carry on regardless of interruptions. They are usually found amongst preachers, politicians, reformists, evangelists, lecturers and propagandists. Many acquire the irritating habit of carrying their dogmas and convictions into their personal life, thus testing the patience of their partners and other near relatives. Fours are extraordinarily patient people who do not have the same urge to tell others what they should be doing. As doers rather than talkers their speech is simple and to the point. Elevens may find a good receptacle in their Four partners but many of their notions will be ignored or rejected. Restricted Elevens do not fall into this class as they are much more akin to their Four partners in regard to oral expression.

Fours experience no difficulty selecting specific hobbies and keeping up with them. Their choice of hobbies is usually near at hand, being either home based or community oriented. Being self-sufficient persons they do not call upon their partners to share their hobbies with them. In any case, it will take a rather thorough and practical person to share in the Four’s interests, and an average Eleven will not possess the patience and practical aptitude to do so. Once again a restricted Eleven habituated on the physical plane will be the exception as these Elevens have the concentration, determination and dedication to ensure that no task is left undone or unsatisfactorily completed. Other Elevens find outlets in poetry, modern art, psychology, astronomy, astrology, spiritualism and other esoteric studies and practices, many of which keep them away from home and domestic responsibilities. It is most unlikely that their Four partners will associate with them in such activities.

Elevens are also natural inventors and originators. Apart from designing their own clothes and other personal items they may choose to spend much of their spare time drawing up blueprints and plans for machinery, gadgets and other technical and scientific and devices. Such Elevens who have Four partners are very fortunate as Fours are experts at putting into form the designs and blueprints created by their imaginative partners.

One of the more obvious areas of disagreement and tension between Fours and most Elevens will be the financial side of their partnership. Fours place considerable value on money for the security and comfort it ensures. They part with their money with reluctance and spend only on essentials. They cannot be tempted into impulsive or speculative purchases or investments. Restricted Elevens have similar attitudes with money and combine will Fours, but all other Elevens do not hold financial security as a high priority. The nearer the Eleven approaches the power of the master vibration the more non-physical and non-material they become. They begin to lose interest in material values to the degree that they involve themselves in arcane, abstract and ideological pursuits. A down-to-earth Four partner will never understand the elevated thought processes of these Elevens.

Elevens may become infatuated by their ideals and their devotion to some cause or ideal may mean more to them than personal relationships. Fours, on the other hand, though emotionally undemonstrative, are duty-bound and devoted to their partners and loved ones. Restricted Elevens are of course, an exception. These restricted Elevens and Fours are set in their habits and though both find it hard to make personality adjustments they can work as a team with each one undertaking clear-cut areas of responsibility. Other Elevens are usually oblivious to any need for personality adjustment in the course of a relationship. Receptive mainly to subtle forces, Elevens engage in a life of thought, while Fours who are receptive to earthly forces enjoy a life of sensation or an affinity to physical things. Their sensitivity to the physical makes them exceptionally good sexual partners. They are emotionally stable, accessible and tireless, though rather unimaginative. Elevens are not as readily approachable as the placid Four as these personalities are governed by their mental attitudes. However, when not carried away on a wave of idealism the physical elements of the 1 vibration and the romanticism of the 2 take over and convert them into enthusiastic lovers.

Positive Fours are those born in the 1st, 10th, 11th, and 12th months. These Fours are best able to cope with positive Elevens despite their differences. Positive Elevens are those born in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 12th months. Elevens born in the 4th month, though classed among the positives, may not be as open-minded as the others. They could be at times nearer to the restricted Elevens born in the 1st, 10th and 11th months. These Elevens are earthier and therefore closer to their Four partners in temperament. Much less adjustment is needed by them, and fewer differences in outlook and personal habits are experienced.

4TH AND 12TH BIRTHDAYS

Consecutive digits 1, 2, 3 and 4 appear in this birthday combination. The 12th day is formed by the numbers 1, 2 and 3 and the 4th day is governed exclusively by the 4. The triple-aspect of the 12th day draws upon the physical, emotional and mental planes, while the single vibration of the 4th day is held firmly on the physical plane. Versatility, flexibility and diversified expression are attributes provided by the multiple aspects of the 12th day. Solidity, fixity and growth within well defined boundaries are the means of expression found in the single aspect of the 4th day. Other qualities peculiar to the 1, 2 and 3 vibrations, both individually and collectively, are egocentricity and subjective attitudes. These ‘I first’ attitudes strengthen the integral Twelve personality to the extent that everything is measured in terms of their personal wants and aspirations. Objective or non-personal thinking becomes foreign to their nature. Subjects of the 4 vibration, while preserving a measure of self-centredness which appears more in the form of self-protection than self-promotion, have little desire to push their egos either openly or by subtle means. They enjoy much greater freedom from self -consciousness and the urge for popularity, recognition, adulation and sentimental attention from their loved ones and are therefore better equipped to give themselves in service to others without expecting too much in return.

By virtue of the three planes of expression open to them, Twelve personalities have many advantages over their Four partners in the matter of self-expression. The 1 vibration ensures positivity, self-confidence and a good self-image; qualities which lead them to success in anything they undertake. In addition, the 2 vibration is an outlet for emotional expression, while the 3 vibration provides a creative imagination, optimism and an extroverted disposition. The combined forces of the 1 and 3 virtually guarantee qualities of leadership, decisiveness and initiative. The subtle influence of the gentle 2 reduces aggressive and dogmatic attitudes in their method of leadership. Primarily, the combined 1, 2 and 3 qualities are beneficial to the Twelve individual though, not necessarily to others, except in indirect ways, as service to self comes before service to others. The nature of the 4 vibration on the other hand is such that service to others is frequently placed before self-interest, especially by a positive Four personality. Their natural tendency would be to subordinate personal wants to the obligations of their partnership role. The Twelve is more often than not likely to overlook many of these role obligations in the pursuit of their personal ambitions. On a comparative basis the 4 vibration is not a self-starter as it does not provide the self-drive and enterprise which is the essence of the 1 and 3. Four persons may have their wants but not always the motivating power to satisfy them. An individual born on the 4th day depends on the birth month and other powerful areas of influence for motivation and direction. However, this may raise another problem which Four personalities in particular are likely to face. When the 1 vibration is found in other areas it serves to strengthen rigid 4 qualities rather than open out the personality with imaginative and enterprising qualities characteristic of the emotional and mental planes. On the other hand, if the Four has emotional and mental outlets in strength they will gain flexibility and adaptability, yet the personality will lack self-confidence and drive due to the absence of the 1 vibration.

Self-assured Twelves hold clear ambitions and the confidence to pursue them. Fours generally do not aim as high, nor are their ambitions accompanied by the same spirit of enterprise. They are less certain as to what they can accomplish or the heights they can reach in a highly competitive scene. Hence, they are more willing to assume subordinate roles which offer a sense of permanence while associates with initiative, enterprise and daring take up decision making roles. Such qualities are not necessarily lacking in the Four but pre-set conditions or an already established system is needed before they can utilise them. The receptive powers of the 4 vibration do not combat the active forces of the 12th day but instead serve to complete them. In practice the Four partner will follow through with the ideas and plans of the Twelve with efficiency, loyalty and economy. However, an interchange of ideas and practicality will also take place as neither party is entirely devoid of either creative or practical talents. A Four/Twelve combination has the potential to develop into one of tremendous strength and productivity. Establishing the leadership role, which is often a potent source of conflict in a partnership, will not be met with problems as the Twelve will be seen as the natural leader in all important matters, and the Four, the willing supporter and a self-sufficient partner.

Twelves may find difficulty adapting to a life tied to domesticity as they are essentiality career minded people. They are certain to spend more of their time and energy in pursuit of a career than on domestic responsibilities. Constituted as they are with a high degree of consistency in their behaviour, Fours are able to establish a better balance between an occupational role and a family role. An arrangement in which the Twelve is the breadwinner and the Four is the homemaker, or part-time wage earner, will be an ideal one. The Twelve will prove to be the better achiever in public life, and Four will be the superior organiser and manager within the domestic scene. A Four will not be tempted to break out of a domestic role for real or imagined greener pastures.

A Four/Twelve combination has great potential for success. A Twelve is basically a Three personality, and as all Threes are socially oriented individuals, the partnership’s social activities will be inspired and managed by the Twelve. As long as their enthusiasm in this direction is not carried too far (and a Twelve/Three is unlikely to do so), the cooperation and practical support of a Four partner can be counted upon. While Twelves are always ready to round up an impromptu party or engage in spur-of-the-moment diversions, Fours have difficulty coping with such unexpected or unplanned activity. Once their social calendar has been properly organised these partners form an eminently complementary team. The Twelve revels in the extroverted role of host or hostess while the Four is happiest in a less prominent position, performing the many practical tasks that fall to the lot of a good host or hostess. The Twelve’s social aspirations are higher than those of the Four. They find it easier to drop into place in most social situations and the slot they find is usually a conspicuous one. When conditions do not suit them they change the atmosphere so that they can occupy a more effective position. Both partners achieve social popularity – the Twelve as a natural entertainer and enthusiastic conversationalist, and the Four for personal service they willingly offer to make any gathering a success.

Fluency of speech is another advantage the Twelves have over their Four partners. They can be depended upon to open negotiation and initiate and maintain conversation. They are in their element in situations that call for ready and direct speech and a good sense of humour. While the 2 vibration gives them the power of the written word, the 3 gives them the power of the spoken word, and the courage and self-confidence to use both powers effectively is derived from the 1. Twelves who have speech vibrations in other areas of influence as well could be carried away by excessive verbiage, much to the annoyance of their Four partners, whose oral expression is restricted and is generally confined to the bricks and mortar of daily life. As Fours are sparing in their use of words they could be hurt and turn defensively hostile if their Twelve partner take advantage of their verbal effectiveness to demolish the Four’s point of view. Fours are best approached by a few quiet words rather than by a copious presentation of facts. Though emotionally undemonstrative, Fours are very sensitive people whose feelings can easily be injured by the careless words of a fluent talker. On the other hand, Fours themselves usually do not mince their words and say exactly what they think without the use of tact or subtlety. There are no shades of meaning in a Four’s speech, as gray areas go unrecognised. Yes is yes and no is no. Their forthright and definitive manner could aggravate the sensibility of the Twelve and lead to further argument.

Twelve personalities and positive Fours are too energetic both mentally and physically to be relaxing during their leisure hours. (However, negative Fours usually lack the incentive to use their spare time performing some enjoyable or useful task). Twelves may divide their time between social engagements and productive activity. Their versatility will be observed in the variety of interests they undertake. A combination of imagination, creativity and practicality, and a generally restless nature keeps them permanently engaged in several directions. While Fours may not undertake as much variety there are many interests in which both partners can join forces, especially in the wide field of music and sport, or other outdoor hobbies. The widespread talents of the Twelve and the amplified practical talents of the Four give them tremendous advantage as a team. As handypersons, this combination may be equalled by some but very rarely bettered. These are not individuals who are likely to drift apart during their leisure time. On the contrary, their pleasures and forms of self-expression can be stimulated as well as modified by interaction.

All Fours have a tendency to accentuate the need for security in every aspect of their life, and financial security is always their first priority. Anyone who enters into a partnership with a Four will be wise to pass on the responsibility for day-to-day expenditure and accounting to this partner. With a high sense of values they make better use of their dollars, and also put aside a good proportion of their income for a rainy day. While the Four’s cautious spending and saving habits are entirely predictable those of the Twelve are not necessarily so. The three vibrations interacting within this personality promote different attitudes towards money and security. The 1 vibration has much in common with the Four’s standards of value but not its anxiety regarding security. The 2 vibration shares the same anxiety regarding security but not the same sense of values, and the 3 vibration has neither fear for the future nor an economic sense of values regarding expenditure and saving. Generosity is a quality found in both partners but it is applied in different directions. Fours are generous with their time and personal service while Twelve’s are liberal with their money and goods. The Twelve’s contribution to all financial decisions will be indispensable, however, the strength of the partnership will be built upon the Four’s overall financial management.

Fours are loyal, dutiful and sensible partners but the depth of their love could be overlooked or misunderstood due to their inability to externalise their emotions. As their feelings are expressed through deeds and not through words they are sparing of compliments and other personal endearments. The situation is not helped when they are partnered with individuals who are able to express their emotions and, understandably, expect a similar response. Twelve personalities, by the agency of the 2 vibration, are able to express emotion. More significantly, this vibration combined with the 3, demands much sentimental attention. Twelves will therefore expect from their Four partners something that this partner is not conditioned to give. At the same time, the Four’s physically oriented constitutions and sensitivity of touch make them splendid sexual partners though they will need some tutoring in romantic, imaginative and experimental activity. The vigour of the Four and the enterprise of the Twelve can combine well to bring variety and excitement into their intimate relations.

All Twelves and positive Fours make the best partnerships as both parties will be able to stand on their own feet and make their own decisions in their areas of responsibility. The Twelve is most likely to assume an overall leadership role, but Fours will stand up against anything that is evasive, irregular, risky or dictatorial in the actions of the Twelve. Positive Fours are those born in the 1st, 10th, 11th, and 12th months. The presence of the 1 vibration gives them the self-confidence and decision they need to take rank with their Twelve partners. Other Fours will be dependent on their partners.

4TH AND 13TH BIRTHDAYS

Four personalities are formed by both the 4th and 13th birthdays but different moulds are used in each case. The 4th day is a clear-cut mold in which characteristics of the 4 vibration are unmixed with any other force. The vibrations of the birth month and year can certainly influence Four personalities by opening secondary avenues of self-expression and especially in determining whether 4 characteristics are used in positive or negative ways. The concentrated forces of the Four, however, take precedence over all other vibratory influences. The individual remains easily distinguishable as a Four personality. Four personalities born on the 13th day are molded by the integration of the 1, 3 and 4 vibrations (1 + 3 = 4). They are not easily identified as Four personalities as they are blended Fours who exhibit qualities of 3 distinct vibrations. For the most part all three work as an integral force but, a keen observer may dissect the characteristics of each. To the individual concerned this is an exceptionally advantageous birthday as the self-confident traits of the 1 vibration, the powerful imagination and enthusiasm of the 3, combine and enrich solid 4 qualities, thereby enlarging the Thirteen’s self-expression.

While straightforward Fours, born on the 4th day, depend on other areas of influence for qualities of leadership, decision, flexibility and a healthy self-image, those born on the Thirteenth day have these qualities already built into their personality structure. As natural leaders, organisers and decision makers they function poorly when circumstances place them in subordinate positions which offer little scope for initiative. With all the advantages of ego strength their dispositions are positive and optimistic in outlook. Other points of influence, whatever they may be, only serve to strengthen their powers of self-expression. A wide field of opportunity remains open to their energy, drive, initiative and ambition. They are generally self-centred people who think of others only in relation to themselves. Their habits of thought concentrate on ways and means whereby they could use people and circumstances to their profit and pleasure. The ego-centred nature of the 1 and 3 vibrations is too powerful to be subdued by the underlying influence of the service-oriented 4 vibration. Straightforward Fours, though concerned with the security of an established lifestyle, do not centre everything around themselves as they do not have the same urgency to satisfy demands of their egos. Their unhurried and uncomplicated lives allow them more time and energy to be used in the service of others.

Subordinate positions or even equal partnerships do not suit the authoritative temperament of the Thirteen. Not to be in charge of themselves or their environment will simply cramp their style. On the other hand, Fours, despite being good at system and organisation, do not actively seek positions of command. To follow a sensible and practical leader capable of making sensible and realistic decisions accords more closely with their temperament. A Thirteen will automatically comply with these expectations and will, in turn, receive the loyalty and invaluable support of the hardworking Four. Although Fours have little ambition to occupy positions of high authority in which the capacity for instant decision making is essential, they make good administrators and disciplinarians when authority of a lower order is acquired by them. In exercising any form of authority they are inclined to abide by the letter of the law rather than use the spirit of the law. For their personal wellbeing, much the same ideas are cherished by Fours and Thirteens. It is in their interpretation and implementation that they may differ at times. Thirteens are adventurous people who live more abundantly and are ready to reach out to new avenues of experience. They grasp opportunity with vigour and decision and use a natural capacity for keeping many irons in the fire. While doing so, the influence of the underlying 4 vibration safeguards them from any excess. Their Four partners, on the other hand, have their sights firmly held on security and permanence acquired through slow and steady growth in chosen areas of development. Adverse reactions will be shown to sudden changes or unexpected events.

Both partners are capable of the duel task of joining the workforce and undertaking domestic responsibilities. Understandably, the Thirteen has greater motivation to make their mark in the world and so they consequently have a higher earning capacity. They could easily suffer feelings of restlessness if confined to full-time domestic duties. Important and varied as these responsibilities may be, they do not find domesticity a complete avenue for fulfilment of their ambitions. The role of provider as a careerist or business person suits their temperament better than that of homemaker. Fours, on the other hand, can fit themselves contentedly in either role. They may not match their Thirteen partners as high achievers in public life but will overtake them in the skills of domesticity.

Due to the extroverted nature of the 1 and 3 vibrations which make up the greater part of their personality structure, Thirteens are socially self-possessed people. They are neither attached to nor dependent upon their social life for their wellbeing, but move in social circles with a spirit of freedom and independence. Unrestrained social activity characteristic of the 3 vibration is checked by individualist and non-conformist features of the 1 and aided by the self-discipline of the underlying 4. Their well regulated social activity is compatible with the conventional and traditional ways of their Four partners. Fours feel comfortable moving unobtrusively among people by allowing gregarious and convivial types to occupy the spotlight. Many Fours avoid conspicuous roles in order to allay the anxiety they feel if called upon to compete with the eloquence, humour and argumentative ability of verbally gifted people. They will be quite content to let partners such as a Thirteen occupy a prominent position while they busy themselves with practical tasks that do not place them in ruthless competition with others. The Four/Thirteen combination is bound to be a social success as each will fall into a chosen role in which they could perform at their best.

Not only are Fours restricted to a few words in their general conversation but they are also restrained in conversation on sentimental matters. Their difficulties with oral expression and absence of expressive body language call for understanding and adjustment to expectations by their partners and other loved ones. Their brevity of speech and matter-of-fact movements may often be misinterpreted and their intentions misunderstood by touchy or sentimental people who expect long explanations and discussions before they feel comfortable. Fortunately, the rational mind of the Thirteen can accept the Four’s method of communication and appreciate that the Four has difficulty in fluency of speech. Fours mean exactly what they say, though they may often do so without the subtleties of tactful language. Though the 3 vibration gives the Thirteen personality a fluent speech outlet they are not exactly talkative people as the customary taciturn 1 and 4 vibrations have a stronger hold on the personality than the tendencies of the speech oriented 3. It is only when the occasion demands that their speech outlet is given full expression. At other times their speech is measured and controlled. By and large, these partners will not irritate each other by excess speech and argument. Subdued body language will also be used as a useful alternative to oral expression.

As in other aspects of life, the conservative nature of the Four will be reflected in the manner in which they choose to spend their holidays. They are quite likely to visit the same spot every year, following the same routine in their holiday activities. Thirteens are also basically conservative by nature but they are not as set in their ways as their Four partners. Variation in their choice of holiday resorts and their spirit of adventure will enliven the couple’s holiday plans and activities. While Fours will be content to spend all their time outdoors, Thirteens will include some social engagements in their holiday program. The overall influence in the management of leisure time will always be stimulating and rewarding. If a firm foundation for a happy and productive partnership is the recognition and sharing of ideas followed by aptitude to put these ideas into form, this will be found in the teamwork of a Four/Thirteen partnership. Rather than feel stifled in each other’s company their relationship in both work and play will be based on mutual respect and trust in shared interests.

The partnership’s finances will always be held on a sound footing. These partners’ standards of values are more or less on the same level. However, Thirteens may attempt to set higher standards of living on a wider field of activity. Any slight deviation from cautious spending and saving habits will be introduced by the Thirteen. This may be, more often than not, to the advantage of the partnership. Personal expenses, and expenses introduced into the partnership will be relatively higher than those of the thrifty Four, and not necessarily detrimental to the partnership. Free spending habits of the 3 vibration are checked by the money-wise 1 and 4 vibrations. A joint account can be held without suspicion or fear of abuse by one or the other.

The 1 and 4 vibrations have the strongest influence upon this combination of birthdays. Among the many common characteristics these physical vibrations contribute to the personality are self-control, loyalty, family pride, honour and single-mindedness. What they do not contribute are romance, sentimentality and a free flow of emotions. Four and Thirteen partners, while reaping full benefit from the former set of qualities, may not achieve the emotional closeness or degree of intimacy enjoyed by emotionally oriented partners. As a spontaneous release of emotion is not a feature in either, its absence should not cause problems. The vibration of the birth month could, of course, alter the position to some extent. The 3 vibration in the Thirteen does provide a degree of imagination and romance which will bring in some variety into their intimate lives, but not to the extent of disturbing their naturally regular and conforming habits. Their sexual drive is almost the same and the compatibility they discover as a result will ensure fulfilment in this important aspect of their relationship. Fours are much more self-sufficient than the Thirteen in their emotional needs. As long as their feelings are not hurt by callous criticism or other actions which may injure their self-esteem they get by in their own quiet ways without placing any undue emotional demands on their partners. The ego-centredness of the 1 and 3 vibrations and the youthful nature of the 3 in particular, demand much more personal attention. Though Thirteens possess a good self-image, they expect frequent acknowledgement of their presence and recognition of their actions. They may not always receive this attention from a Four partner who takes goodness and service for granted, and sees no reason to parade these qualities before others.

All Thirteens and positive Fours make exceptionally successful partnerships as both partners will be able to stand on their own feet and take charge of their own areas of responsibility with confidence. Positive Fours are those born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. The power of the 1 vibration in the birth month injects positivity into the Four personality. Those who do not possess this vibration in this strong position will look to their partners for all important decision making.

4TH AND 14TH BIRTHDAYS

Though the 4 vibration is conspicuous in both the 4th and 14th days, by no means do persons born on these days share 4 characteristics to the same degree. While certain characteristics do form the sum and substance of individuals born on the 4th day and consequently produce clear-cut Four personalities, those born on the 14th have a personality structure formed by the interaction of the 1, 4 and 5 vibrations (1 + 4 = 5). In reality they become qualified Five personalities.

A Four personality is easily recognised from typical 4 qualities such as physical strength, good health, practicality, a calm and unflappable disposition, commonsense, thriftiness, regularity, resistance to change and willingness to help others in their practical needs. The 4 vibration is a physical force, and if found in its unmixed or unqualified state, as it is in the 4th day, is generally impervious to or resistant to the attraction and distractions of other vibratory influences However, other points of influence within the overall personality structure of an individual, while not diminishing 4 qualities, will serve to open out to some degree, secondary areas for self-expression. By virtue of the multiple digits of their birthday, Fourteens have three major facets to their personality structure, all of which interact and coexist in a manner that gives tremendous power to the personality as a whole. To start with, the best qualities of the 4 are preserved and utilised in the most advantageous ways by the positive influences of the 1 vibration and the curiosity and versatility of the 5. Negative 4 qualities such as laziness, lack of ambition, lack of imagination and other anti-social and destructive tendencies are automatically overcome. In addition, the personality acquires the leadership, authority, initiative, organisation and enterprise of the 1 and 5 vibrations. Negative features of these vibrations, as in the 4, are eliminated in this well balanced structure. At the same time conservative habits of the 1 and 4 are moderated by the influence of the unconventional 5, while many inconsistent qualities of the plain 5 are kept on the straight and narrow path by the 1 and 4. The combination gives the Fourteen personality tremendous courage and initiative for action of any sort on the physical plane.

A Four/Fourteen partnership will be unequalled in regard to distribution of talent and potentiality. Although an obvious disproportion exists in regard to the distribution of these assets, this same disproportion will form the basis for a compatible partnership. With the built-in strength of three vibrations, which incidentally includes the ego-centred drive of the 1 vibration, the Fourteen does not depend on other areas of influence for reinforcement. They are already equipped with self-assertive, competitive and other extroverted qualities needed to grasp and make full use of opportunity. Other points of influence will only add to their powers. A plain Four personality may suffer from an under-rated self-image and will depend on a well balanced personal chart and a supportive environment for an overall feeling of positivity. At the same time, some Fours are subject to a further hardening or restricting of their powers through an overloading of physical or materially oriented vibrations. They become too rigid to profit from any opportunity for advancement and self-development that may come their way.

The things Fours and Fourteens have in common are more important and far more desirable than the characteristics that separate them as distinct personalities. They will be attracted to each other on the basis of these similarities as well as their dissimilarities. Some main features that distinguish them are the Four’s comparative lack of speed and drive, and the Fourteen’s speed, combativeness and motivation to strive for better things. Fourteens will forge ahead while many Fours will be content to maintain prevailing conditions of reasonable comfort and security. Also, Fourteens experience the world in an expanded field of awareness and curiosity while the Four chooses familiar paths and a non-competitive and carefully planned lifestyle. The combination could bring out the best in both partners as they will not be found working at cross-purposes. Fours, for instance, will not be allowed to live below their possibilities. The stronger individuality and positivity of the Fourteen will fortify their self-esteem so as to create active powers from many latent possibilities. Fours are not natural leaders. Rather, they prefer to follow the lead of decisive, creative and practical individuals, such as a Fourteen. The Four’s contribution will be to analyse situations from any practical view point and leave the final decision to their partners. A reasonable balance between unyielding and dogmatic views and flexible opinions will be introduced into the partnership as well as the ability to plan and maintain a steady course of action to execute their plans. These are individuals who would not admit that a task they have undertaken has beaten them in any way, nor are they partners who are likely to experience much conflict between an occupational role and a family role. Their organised minds can assign a proper amount of time and energy for each area of responsibility By reason of their extended range of awareness, curiosity, ambition and self-assertiveness, Fourteens are able to respond to and absorb a much greater range of stimulating activity. They may feel hemmed in if they are confined to full-time domestic responsibilities. Their sense of purpose is not likely to be defeated or damaged by the multiplicity of events encountered in public life. The strength of the Four is shown in maintaining with efficiency and dedication an already established working environment, whether at home or in the workforce. They are true creatures of habit and are intolerant of ambiguous situations. They resist variation of routine and timetables set up for running an establishment at optimum efficiency. They are not strongly equipped to battle the uncertainties and competitiveness of the business world and emerge with the same measure of success. A non-competitive domestic scene, despite extended hours of duty will certainly have greater appeal to a Four than to a Fourteen.

The physical bodies and general mentality of both partners have a closer relationship with the material and physical plane than to any other plane of expression. The outdoors appeals to them much more than indoor pastimes. Both need physical activity to expend their energy and disperse their emotions. Social life may come as an accompaniment to their outside interests and these will usually be taken up together. They are by no means inhospitable people, but the pull of the outdoors will be too strong to keep them at home for long. On the few occasions that they do entertain, a barbeque will be their choice rather than a formal dinner setting. A deep sense of tradition makes them ideally suited as a couple. They will not set up in their controlled social life expectations or complicated patterns of events they will have to live up to. The Fourteen may on rare occasions depart from traditional habits but the Four will insist on following conventional patterns of behaviour. Fours do this usually to reduce or eliminate anxiety they feel if called upon to enter unaccustomed scenes or communicate on unfamiliar topics. Fear of rejection is a problem suffered by the Four which does not affect the Fourteen.

Neither of these partners can be said to possess the gift of the gab or glibness of tongue. Generally brief and outspoken in their views, communication between themselves and with others will seldom flow into a spate of words. However, when an occasion calls for comments on their favourite topics, the Fourteen especially could come out with a burst of eloquence, or more accurately, a storm of words. Easy-going and unpretentious as both may appear, when pushed around or pressured they can be obstinate in their manner and definitive in their opinions. Their sense of fixed ideas is often a barrier that is not easily surmounted. They express facts as they see them and neither partner is consciously aware of any adverse impression made on others by their forthrightness. Fourteens speak out with authoritative body language and express their views without fear of rejection. Fours use the minimum of body language and are more reticent in their speech as they easily feel insulted or put down when someone makes a challenging remark or expresses a contrary opinion. They do not realise that their unconscious frankness is often an open challenge and therefore find themselves unprepared to take up an objective discussion on a point they have made. Between themselves, Fours and Fourteens will communicate easily on all practical matters but are certain to have difficulty articulating sentimental thoughts and feelings.

As both are exceptionally adept with their hands and strong in their bodies there is every likelihood that they will join hands, so to speak, in the same or related hobbies. Mutual respect of each other’s needs and talents will be the basis for their cooperation. They remain happy and fulfilled as long as they are involved in arts and crafts, in building and construction or with mechanical objects that need maintenance. Their expert services, both individually and as a team, will always be in demand by the community. A strong affinity with the earth and its produce in the mineral and vegetable kingdoms opens up a field of opportunity for shared hobbies. These are busy people who will leave no time for idleness or even for some much needed relaxation.

As the 1 and 4 vibrations are two of the most money-wise and value conscious, the financial aspect of this partnership will always remain on a sound footing. Both partners measure all things in monetary terms. Neither one nor the other will rush into premature decisions in regard to expenditure and investment. Their cautious spending habits are not exposed to impulsive emotional trends. Money will be used constructively and a good portion of their income will be put away in safe investments. The instinct of the gambler is quite dormant in the Four and held down firmly in the Fourteen. The influence of the 5 vibration in the latter may at times tempt them to try a modest flutter in games of chance but not to a degree that will endanger their resources. A joint account can be held without fear or distrust.

Driven by three of the strongest sexual vibrations, sexual compatibility between these partners is beyond doubt. Outwardly, the Fourteen may appear to have a stronger sex drive due to the forcefulness of the 1 vibration and the experimentation of the 5, but the Four has an unlimited capacity to accommodate and actively participate in the frequency and variety of activity introduced by the Fourteen. The fulfilment both parties enjoy in their sex lives prevents infidelity and other forms of sexual restlessness and frustration. As both are embarrassed by public displays of sentiment, romantic exchanges or open demonstrations of their love will seldom be observed by others. They are conservative lovers who reserve their lovemaking for the privacy of their homes.

Fourteens and positive Fours make the strongest partnerships. Both partners are able to stand on their own feet and confidently take charge of separate areas of responsibility. Positive Fours are those born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. The 1 vibration present in these months gives them the self-confidence needed to take charge of their lives. Other Fours may look to their Fourteen partners for all the major decisions relating to the partnership.

4TH AND 15TH BIRTHDAYS

A 4th and 15th birthday combination presents several features which are bound to attract on the basis of their opposite nature and just as many will do so on the basis of their similarities. This is so despite the fact that one birthday is governed by a single vibratory force and the other by the fusion of three distinct vibrations (1 + 5 = 6). Conversely, it may be said that the distinct qualities of the 4 vibration seen in the Four personality and the multiple facets of the 15th day possessed by the Fifteen personality do not give rise to antagonism, antipathy or rivalry, but for the most part their interaction will evoke positive reactions from both partners.

For many valid reasons Four personalities, who are motivated by the best 4 qualities are often regarded as the salt of the earth. This is an apt description as the 4 vibration transfers all the solid and stable features of Mother Earth on to the Four personality. With a calm, well-balanced and practical approach to life, and with their eyes and feet centred squarely on the ground, Fours usually form the backbone of family and community life. Those who seek outlets in the clouds are not likely to meet a Four personality wandering about in these insubstantial realms. As a consequence of their single digit birthday Fours have all the advantages of concentrated power, but also inherit the reverse effects of concentration, such as loss of flexibility, adaptability and imagination. Lack of a spirit of adventure, resistance to movement and change often retards rapid progress. Growth within well defined boundaries with little departure from the established order of society becomes their motivating force. They may lack the sparkle and enterprise seen in imaginative personalities of emotional and mental orientation but make up for this lack by such exceptional qualities as loyalty, persistence, efficiency, economy, above average commonsense and willingness to be of service to others in practical ways. They are not subject to emotional fluctuation and therefore do not have to wait till the mood hits them before undertaking a task. They are motivated by a clear sense of duty. These are characteristics that are certain to find favour in the discerning and logical mind of the Fifteen. The 15th birthday on its own is sufficient to mold a complete personality. Fifteens are therefore fortunate people. Three planes of expression are represented in their personality structure. The invaluable ego strength and initiative of the 1 vibration from the physical plane, the emotional expression and versatility of the 5 from the emotional plane and evenly balanced thought processes provided by the 6 vibration from the mental plane combine to form a well integrated personality. Unlike the Four, who is dependent on other areas of influence for outlets into the emotional and mental planes and consequently for some measure of release from total confinement within the physical plane, the Fifteen is free from this dependence. Other points of influence will only serve to strengthen one or more of the vibrations contained in the birthday. Furthermore, interaction between the 1, 5 and 6 vibrations accentuate positive qualities of each vibration while counteracting their negative features. All Fours are not necessarily positive personalities but all Fifteens may be confidently accepted as positive persons with a good self-image and with the ability to make decisions and make them quickly.

Showing little or no departure from typical or true to type 4 characteristics, Four personalities are easily identifiable in public life or in private life. They are capable of undertaking the role of homemaker without inner disquiet or restlessness. They are also able to take up the dual roles of breadwinner and homemaker, and draw a clear line between their working and domestic responsibilities. Fours are, however, not overly ambitious people. Their ambitions are satisfied once they have achieved a sense of permanence, security and physical comfort. Fifteens cannot be identified in terms of a particular set of personality features. The straightforward Six, born on the 6th day and the qualified Six born on the 24th day are easier to identify. The former displays typical 6 characteristics and the latter, a combination of closely related qualities of receptive vibrations. But the Six personality born on the 15th day (referred to as a Fifteen in this chapter) is cast in a different mold. The active and energetic 1 and 5 vibrations form a major part of their personality structure while the receptive 6 holds sway in the background. Self-assertive, aggressive and independent qualities not found in other Sixes appear in considerable strength in the Fifteen/Six. This personality is a clear leader while other Sixes are generally followers, teammates, partners, associates or accomplices. There is little doubt that the Fifteen will assume the role of leader in a partnership with a Four. Fours find themselves at ease in non-competitive positions and in situations that do not call for sudden changes, instant decisions or the need to cope with interruptions to their routine and timetables. Fifteens are able to face these conditions without conscious effort. As they have confidence in their abilities they evoke the confidence of others, especially their Four partners. The mere physical presence of the Fifteen has the effect of allaying anxiety, which a Four may experience from time to time. Acknowledgement of the Fifteen’s leadership will not result in a loss of the Four’s individuality but instead will afford an enlargement of perspective.

The domestic impulse is strong in both partners and a good deal of time and effort will go into a harmonious family life. A willingness to share responsibility will be their greatest source of strength. Neither would expect the other to do anything they would not do themselves. By virtue of the active energy and enthusiasm inherent in the Fifteen, these personalities need more than one dimension in which they can find cause for action and consequent personal fulfilment. While Fours will find fulfilment in full-time domestic duties and nearby community activity, Fifteens need additional challenges in a wider spectrum of public life. The partnership is certain to achieve prosperity at a quicker pace and reach a higher state if the Fifteen partner is the breadwinner.

Fifteens are spontaneous and popular organisers of people and Fours are efficient organisers of things and events. The subtle difference here is that Fifteens are more at home interacting with all sorts of people while Fours are happiest doing something with their hands with the minimum of interference from others. The social usefulness and popularity of these partners will be greatly enhanced by these complementary talents. At the same time neither partner feels the need for frequent social involvement. While carrying out their social engagements in a spirit of cooperation they will always remain in control of their social life. They are not influenced or impressed by the actions of others. The Fifteen will be the extroverted partner occupying a more active and prominent position while the Four chooses to remain as an observer and when the opportunity arises, a helper in the background of activity. Fifteens do not perceive people or situations as a possible threat to their self-assurance and are more approachable and more informal in their behaviour than the Four. With enough flexibility to adjust their attitudes if required, and speedier transference of their thoughts into action, they are able to cope with a complicated pattern of events and deal successfully, with the opposite sex and people of different temperaments and age groups. Fours may set up various barriers of self-protection if they are besieged by a rush of events. People are not usually disturbed by the Four’s unobtrusive manner as they are able to detect a helpful and hardworking spirit behind a quiet exterior.

As Fifteens experience life on multiple planes of expression they enjoy a wider array of responses to their environment. These broader horizons give them the capacity to converse on a greater variety of topics than their Four partners whose thoughts are confined to physical and practical issues. Not only are Fifteens open to discussion on concrete as well as abstract subjects but they do not hesitate to initiate and maintain conversation at a lively pace. As their emotions can be externalised their body language reinforces their vocal powers. Fours are good listeners who patiently pay attention to speakers until they hear something that conforms to their own thoughts and experiences and then proceed to make a valuable contribution. Ambiguous, irrational or emotionally based views are immediately challenged by both partners. Tough commonsense is used as a base for forming their opinions and the Fifteen will prove to be the better rationalist and debater. The Four will withdraw from the cut and thrust of critical and objective argument as they will refuse to depart from many preconceived, insular and dogmatic views. Between themselves, these partners are very likely to agree to disagree on contentious matters rather than go on with protracted argument. Differences will not destroy their awareness of the fundamental similarity between their expectations, especially those on the domestic front. More often than not they will correct a problem before it leads to confrontation.

Their willingness to share domestic responsibilities will be extended into their leisure activities. Though not dependent on doing everything as a pair, these partners influenced by similar interests, will invariably team up in their hobbies and other leisure activities. At the same time a division of trust will ensure that a fair proportion of togetherness and separateness is maintained. Upkeep of house and garden will be their first priority. A fruit, vegetable and herb garden may receive more attention than a flower garden. Also, an interest in good food and cooking will absorb the attention of both partners. Though the Four will be quite content to concentrate on home and community-based activities, the Fifteen will prove to be a mixture of two dispositions, namely, the home lover and the adventurer. Motivated by their spirit of adventure and the Four’s affinity with all things connected with the earth, regular outings into the countryside, especially remote areas, can become an exciting form of recreation. The Four’s levelheadedness and practicality and the Fifteen’s coolness in danger and versatility will combine well to handle all eventualities.

Though their methods may differ, Fours and Fifteens exhibit responsibility in handling money. Both partners aim for financial security. Fours will be much more earnest in their efforts to do so as their need for security in every form is more compulsive. They are unable to feel a sense of wellbeing and fulfilment except in conditions of permanence and stability. Their best traits are exhibited while working towards establishing these conditions. As people who firmly believe in looking after their pennies and letting the pounds look after themselves they are watchful and selective spenders and shrewd bargain hunters. The family accounts cannot be in safer hands than in these natural bookkeepers and accountants. A Fifteen partner will not underestimate these talents, nor will they be allowed to overlook them. Due to their spread of interests and ability to manage anxiety effectively, the Fifteen’s spending habits are more generous. They do not count the cost when essential or even luxury personal and family needs have to be met. Their generosity, however, is kept within bounds and is not likely to tax the Four’s sense of proportion and economy to an extent that could cause serious conflict. In fact the stimulating influence of the Fifteen will have a salutary effect on the family as a whole.

The protective and nurturing qualities of the Fifteen, derived from their fearlessness in the physical and mental realms and their controlled emotionalism form a source of comfort to their Four partners thus evoking the Four’s positive responses. Fifteens, in turn, derive peace of mind from the stability and balance of head and heart found in the Four. They may be undemonstrative emotionally but a Fifteen does not expect much outward show of love from their partners. To compensate for lack of emotional expression Fours possess an extraordinarily high sensitivity of touch and suppleness with their fingers. Fifteens could be demanding lovers but the Four has the capacity to meet with all their demands. This partnership is an excellent setting for a joyful and fulfilling sex life, free from inhibitions, distrust and fear of disloyalty.

Fifteens and positive Fours make the most successful partnerships. Positive Fours are those who are born in the months 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. The 1 vibration in these months is a guarantee that the personality will express the positive aspects of the 4 vibration. However, other points of influence could provide this vibration and thus ensure positive attitudes. While these Fours make splendid teammates, Fours who do not possess sufficient positive attitudes will not be able to stand on their own feet. They become followers who depend on their Fifteen partners for all decisions.

4TH AND 16TH BIRTHDAYS

Those readers who have so far examined a few birthday combinations have no doubt observed that certain vibrations hold the power of drawing us into sympathetic relationships with individuals, groups of people and conditions of living while others have a tendency to keep us apart on account of a general absence of vibratory response. The vibrations of the 4th and 16th birthdays fall neatly into the former category of sympathetic interaction. The attraction for each other by people born on these days is based on many similarities in their outlook on life and reinforced by the magnetism of certain opposite characteristics. The several common features arise from the widespread influence of the physical plane in both birthdays. A straightforward Four personality and a qualified Seven will form this birthday combination. The centralised force of the 4 vibration holds the Four squarely on the physical plane while the influence of the 1 and 7 vibrations in the 16th day exercises an extensive influence on the Sixteen personality. All three vibrations of the physical plane (1, 4 & 7) are represented in this birthday combination. Hence, the solid foundation of understanding and kinship on which this relationship will be based. There will be little need for these partners to go through the tiresome and often testing exercise of discovering and adjusting to fundamental personality differences.

Outlets into the emotional plane are not present in either birthday. Consequently, an outward display of emotion will not be observed in the actions and reactions of either partner. Their sentiments are held firmly in check to such an extent that both can safely be described as unflappable individuals. By virtue of the influence of the 6 vibration the personality structure of the Sixteen incorporates characteristics of the mental plane and is therefore able to introduce an extra dimension of thought and action into the relationship. What is more, Sixteens do so in a manner that evokes the best responses from their companions and associates. Four personalities could be touchy people whose self-image can easily be hurt if they are dealt with in critical, cynical and high-handed ways. They will not be exposed to this type of treatment by a Sixteen partner. The Sixteen has an advantage over a Four on the strength of the 1 vibration being part of their personality structure. Self-assurance and positivity are already part of the integral personality. The Four will need this vibration in the birth month or some other part of their birth date or name to be certain of self-confident attitudes. The ego of the Sixteen is not as easily susceptible to injury as that of the less secure Four, and this makes their general approach to life more extroverted. They possess many qualities the Four admires and looks for in their own self and in others. By a natural process of identification rather than instruction, the Four will take on many self-confident aspects of the Sixteen as their association progresses. At the same time, the surest way one can gain rapport with a Four is to pay attention to them when they speak and show respect to their views. The logical mind of the Sixteen will have no difficulty in doing so as all the Four’s opinions are based on practicality, economy and sound commonsense. Some of their views may need an injection of imagination and flexibility and this can be done successfully by the Sixteen’s tactful approach. It will be most unusual for either party to behave in an inconsistent manner that will be harmful to their relationship as it is not in the nature of either to deviate from regular habits.

The strength of leadership and authority present in the Sixteen through the forceful nature of the 1 vibration will prompt this partner to assume the decision making role. At the same time arbitrary and self-centred decisions that are likely to be made by a straightforward One personality will be counteracted by the influence of the 6 and 7 vibrations. The invaluable practical contributions the Four can provide will not be overlooked by the intelligent Sixteen. In this way the Four will feel needed while at the same time enjoy the relief of passing the responsibility for final decisions on to their partners. Fours usually prefer to contribute their opinions and then leave the final decisions to those whose logical thought processes and decision making ability earn their respect.

Both partners are able to subordinate personal demands to family obligations and work assiduously towards establishing a peaceful, comfortable and close knit family atmosphere. Their desire for an emotionally stable, financially secure and well planned lifestyle exceeds, by far, a single-minded drive for success in public life. Though not fiercely competitive by nature they are, nevertheless, capable of reaching eminent positions in public life through earnest application of their multiple talents. Also, their slower pace and balanced outlook helps them maintain a clear division of responsibility between professional life and domestic harmony. This is an ideal combination for a family business dealing in food and accommodation or household and garden products.

Domestic and business duties can be interchanged without resentment or disorganisation as neither partner will feel the urge to break out of responsibilities assigned to them.

A low-geared approach to social life is favoured by both Fours and Sixteens. Neither individual is either attracted to or dependent on frequent social interaction. Privacy is important and personal responsibility is accepted for finding ways and means for self-fulfilment. This applies not only in their outer relationships but also in their own interaction. While forming a healthy proportion of togetherness they are also able to allow for a corresponding amount of space between themselves. They take time to warm up to strangers but their few close friends have the good fortune of enjoying genuine hospitality in a Four/Sixteen home. Fours acquire popularity through practical help they are always willing to render a host of impractical people who seem to gravitate towards them. Though careful with their possessions they are generous with their time and manual skills. They are usually the workers behind the scenes in any social gathering. While Fours live for the most part in an external world of objects and physical experience, Sixteens live in an internal world of thought as well as in an external world of action. They make friends by being interested in people and helping them in their emotional, mental and spiritual needs. Their intellectual curiosity and knowledge in abstract matters interlock admirably with the Four’s practicality. Fours are confirmed traditionalists who are devoted to upholding established laws and customs. Their inclination to view persons and events through fixed ideas could cloud their powers of observation and interfere with the need to absorb new information. This could raise some problems with their mentally analytical partners. However, despite their probing minds, Sixteens are not too different in their conservative attitudes. They may in their private time venture into unprecedented and unorthodox realms of study but they do not lose touch with reality in the physical sense, nor do they willfully pose any new ideas on others. Anxious to avoid any form of controversy, they confine their views to a intimate circle and outwardly conform to the established norms of society.

As Fours are generally people of action who find fulfilment in work and Sixteens are people of thought who enjoy introspection and mental analysis these partners do not feel the need, nor do they have the inclination for prolonged conversation or ordinary chit-chat. The eloquence of silence is appreciated and enjoyed by both. Neither individual is given to rambling speech as their realistic minds are able to reduce whatever they wish to say to a few succinct words or phrases. Their body language is seldom revealing as both are adept at hiding their thoughts and feelings. Unless provoked by an irrational statement they avoid argument and controversial topics. The Sixteen may in special circumstances enter into animated discussions on abstract or metaphysical topics with selected people. The Four partner, whose awareness is focused on the physical level and who interprets life according to personal experience is not likely to enter into such discussions.

These home-oriented individuals are certain to spend their spare time in and around their home. Domestic science, beautification and improvement to home and garden will be high priorities. The Sixteen will usually pay attention to the aesthetic aspects while the Four undertakes repairs and maintenance. Fours do not wonder too far from the familiar world that their senses presents to them. They attach more weight to things they can see and handle and therefore obtain fulfilment from hobbies in which their manual dexterity and constructive minds can be utilised. Sixteens may turn to literature and music. The sense of responsibility natural to both partners is such that neither is likely to demand too much self-time or deflect into self-indulgent hobbies at the expense of family responsibility. The kitchen and dining room are areas of the home in which much of their time will be spent. A great deal of mutual enjoyment will be derived and expertise gained in their interest in gastronomy. They may need to guard against overindulgence in good food and drink. The Sixteen may be more selective and discriminating in the choice of food. They could turn to vegetarian diets while the Four remains a confirmed meat eater. A good collection of cookbooks will no doubt adorn their book-shelf. These individuals are not travellers. They are likely to spend their holidays in the same spot doing the same things they enjoy doing.

Money is often one of the contentious issues in most partnerships as financial irresponsibility could be an innate problem with one or the other, and in some instances both partners may be lacking in basic money management skills. A Four/Sixteen combination is not faced with this difficulty as both partners possess an exceptionally good sense of values in general, and particularly in regard to money. Impulsive and extravagant spending habits and a temptation to move into risky money dealings are quite out of character. A joint bank account and a common till can be kept with mutual trust and confidence. The Four partner will constantly abide by cost-reducing rules and money saved thereby will be set aside for clearing of debts such as mortgages and for future security. Their bargain-hunting and thrifty ways go hand in hand with the Sixteen’s skills in investment. This personality’s natural financial acumen obviates the need for taking chances or using unprofessional measures with their investments. Outright ownership of all their material goods will be achieved by this pair long before others of their age group.

Outwardly, these partners may appear impassive towards each other, but this picture should not be misinterpreted as much more is felt by them than is expressed in public. Their instinctive aversion to intimacy while moving among others ceases to exist in the privacy of their bedroom. They are skilful and considerate lovers who do not feel the need to look elsewhere for fulfilment or diversion. The more they get to know each other intimately the closer they drift towards each other. Each will seek to satisfy the other’s needs and adapt to each other’s habits as all minor personality adjustments in the course of their lives together are accepted as a mutual necessity. Differences in expectations which set off sparks of disagreement are found at a bare minimum. Insincerity, disloyalty and infidelity are negative qualities totally alien to this partnership. A desire for balance in all things and restoration of balance disturbed is the aim of both partners.

Fours who are born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months express all the positive qualities of the 4 vibration. The 1 vibration in the birth month gives them the incentive to do so. These Fours form the strongest and most successful partnerships with Sixteens. Other Fours are not far behind provided they are gifted with the 1 vibration in other areas. Negative Fours are those who do not have this vibration in any degree of strength. They are less able to stand on their own feet and will draw upon the strength of their Sixteen partners.

4TH AND 17TH BIRTHDAYS

If compatibility alone, above any other design, is looked for between partners in an intimate relationship then 4th and 17th birthdays offer one of the best combinations for achievement of this objective. The nature of the vibrations controlling these birthdays is such that a fellow-feeling and team-spirit can develop without encroachment upon the individuality and privacy of either partner. The single digit of the 4th day contains the full force of the 4 vibration. Other areas of influence appearing in the birth date and name may strengthen the Four personality either in positive or negative ways but won’t noticeably reduce principal 4 characteristics. Fours invariably bear the hallmarks of their physically oriented vibration. Qualified Eight personalities are formed by the 17th birthday. The 1, 7 and 8 vibrations comprising this day blend harmoniously for the most part to produce a fairly stable integral personality. Any deviation in the interaction of these vibrations will be caused by certain aspects of the 7 which do not mingle with all the features of the 1 and 8. People influenced by the 1 and 8 vibrations uncompromisingly follow the path of power and possessions in the physical and material realms of life while those influenced by the 7 take a detached view of worldly power and materialism. The 7 is a mixture of pragmatism and realism on the one hand and introspection and spirituality on the other. Those subject to this vibration are able to acquire and enjoy worldly power and possessions but do not become possessed by them. Ambition in this direction is not their driving force. While the practical and realistic sides of the 7 mingle easily with the 1 and 8, the spiritual element opens a higher dimension of thought and action and cuts down many aggressive, competitive, unduly acquisitive and arbitrary characteristics of the 1 and 8. Though the 7 may reduce much of the one-pointed thrust for success and fame, in no way does it diminish the leadership, organisational and creative talents of the 1 and 8. On the contrary, it introduces a dignity of manner acquired through its sense of detachment and undertone of spirituality.

Straightforward Fours see many aspects of themselves magnified in the Seventeen, as well as many others in which they can willingly identify. Unless they are heavily influenced by other vibratory forces or closely guided by environmental conditions Fours tend to interpret life according to their experiences and choose to accept the world of sense experience as the only reality. For all practical purposes a Seventeen partner will not challenge these views but in their inner thoughts the Seventeen will not accept that experience is the only source of knowledge. Their inquisitive and analytical minds will privately search for some background or reason behind all sense experience. Fours and Seventeens may fall comfortably into the grooves of their own convictions and though their grooves may not run together they will not let them become a cause for conflict. They will almost certainly agree to disagree on their views as there are too many utilitarian values in common to indulge in the futility of argument. The Seventeen, in particular, will realise that the Four will always remain of the same opinion against all attempt to convince them against their will.

Of the four vibrations that influence this partnership (1, 4, 7 & 8), three of them (1, 4 & 7) cover the full spectrum of the physical plane. Hence, the basis is formed for the fellowship that is generated between Fours and Seventeens. In addition, the 8, being a double 4, contains on a higher scale all the practical knowledge of the 4 vibration. Due to their strong connection with the physical plane both are embarrassed by displays of emotion. Outward expression of their sentiments will not be expected or given by either partner. The head rules the heart in this partnership. The single emotional outlet of the 8 vibration in the Seventeen will not interfere with sensible decisions. Both partners are able to arrive at an evaluation of things and events with a fine degree of accuracy and agreement. The only occasions they may differ are those in which the Four’s rigid views obscure wider perspectives and clash with the Seventeen’s greater objectivity.

Both partners have a passion for method and symmetry in their lives, a characteristic which will ensure an orderly and disciplined household. In addition, their regulated lifestyle leads them into specialised skills which enable either one or both to bring in a more than adequate income. The Four partner will reveal greater competence and derive greater satisfaction from domestic duties. They are never afraid to dirty their hands, and more often than not, prefer to carry out repairs, cleaning and maintenance themselves rather than delegate these duties to others who may not measure up to their standards of proficiency. All they ask for is an environment of economic security and once this is secured they go about their tasks with an air of competence and self-discipline. In a situation of full-time employment they will not neglect their share of domestic duties. Their natural inclination to leave major decisions to others fits in perfectly with the Seventeen’s tendency to insist on making important decisions and delegating lesser responsibilities to others. Seventeens are not naturally fond of domestic work although they are attached to home for the peace and tranquillity it offers against the tension and turmoil of public life. All the Four’s efforts to maintain a peaceful and stable domestic atmosphere will be ably and willingly supported by them. Unlike the Four, Seventeens are tempted to devote more time and energy to a career consequently leaving a greater share of family duties to their partners. This partnership will be perfectly balanced if the permanent source of income is derived by the efforts of the Seventeen and the major part of domestic responsibility is taken up by the Four. Not only will the domestic scene be looked after by the more resourceful partner but also their income is likely to be larger as the Seventeen has the capacity to make faster headway in public life.

Fours and Seventeens are personality types who feel the pressure of excessive social activity. Being conservative and realistic to the core their sense of propriety is violated by uncontrolled speech and actions of a noisy crowd. As their values are very much the same they are not likely to disagree in their choice of company which will comprise of no more than a few intimate friends.

Though both will be keen on maintaining a good family name and a reputation as honourable citizens, social popularity will not be sought after. They may participate in group activity as observers and workers but not as performers or actors. Neither party will seek the spotlight in their properly managed social engagements. The Seventeen, however, may take up a slightly more prominent role. It may be said that these partners are too serious in their social interaction and that there is room for them to loosen up a bit more. However, the important factor is that their individual social attitudes do not conflict and create disharmony.

Brevity of speech is another shared characteristic which contributes to a congenial relationship. Unlike what happens all too frequently in many relationships, neither of this pair will feel the need to get away from the other for a little peace and quiet. Both speak when they have something worthwhile to say and do so in short crisp sentences. They are, however, not averse to speaking at length on matters in which they have specialised knowledge. When confronted with unfamiliar topics of conversation they maintain the silence and attention of interested students as long as these topics are of some educational value. Their dislike of flippancy and trivia will be shown without hesitation. Communication between this pair on sentimental and emotionally charged issues will be difficult. They are more likely to brood over their problems than verbalise them and bring them out into the open. As a result, they take longer to recover from emotional disturbances and psychological hurts.

A close identity with the land and the animal and vegetable kingdoms opens an unlimited range of open-air interests and environmental concerns in which both partners can spend their leisure hours working as a team. Fours will look for some profit or material benefit for the time and energy spent in outlets such as hunting, fishing, fossicking or gardening. While Seventeens go along with this motive they will also derive aesthetic and mystical pleasures during their time spent in tune with natural surroundings. They may eventually give up all sport involving the taking of life. Fours and Seventeens need not trespass on each other’s need for periods of solitude or for involvement in purely personal hobbies. Both enjoy using, without feelings of guilt, a portion of their free time away from human contact. Fours can happily and profitably occupy themselves by using their manual skills in mechanics, carpentry and other practical ways. With much less practical skill but a keener interest in abstract study Seventeens can peacefully undertake enquiry into esoteric subjects. Each can be described as a ‘Doubting Thomas’ but the difference between the two is that the Four rejects anything that is beyond the understanding of the five senses while, the Seventeen needs to look further into metaphysical realms for possible answers. Mutual respect will certainly be shown for each other’s personal interest. ‘Waste not, want not’ is a maxim followed by both parties in all their actions. They are quality-conscious as well as cost-conscious people. They are also never at ease when in debt or under obligation to others for any reason. Whenever possible, goods and services are obtained through cash transactions. As neither party looks for handouts they are ready to knuckle down to hard work and self-sacrifice to ensure a prosperous lifestyle. The Four in particular, is an expert at looking after the pennies and letting the pounds look after themselves. Maintaining a healthy savings account will be a hobby that brings them much pleasure and a feeling of security. Although the Four’s attraction to money may be, in the first instance, for reasons of security there is always the chance of these people becoming attached to money for its own sake. They may change to a false economy by adopting too many cost-reducing methods. The influence of the Seventeen can prevent them from going to extremes as this partner will be able to see that attachment to money or anything else for that matter, does not bring happiness but restricts one’s range of thought and action. Life means more to them than the bread and butter of purely physical needs. Nevertheless the Four’s saving habit is not obsessive, and the Seventeen’s expertise in investment and the value conscious temperaments of both parties will no doubt place this partnership on a solid financial footing.

As oral expression of their true feelings is a problem faced by both, physical activity is chosen to release their emotions. Verbal endearments will be very limited and though generous acknowledgement is made of each other’s talents they are sparing of compliments. Sudden changes in their routine will be rejected by both. Anything new has to be introduced tactfully and valid reasons advanced for their consideration. Neither partner is tolerant of contradictory opinions and could take up an entrenched position in an argument. Their temperaments are such that they cannot be changed or reformed by direct means. Fortunately neither will attempt to change the other in this manner. Strict privacy at the proper time and place is looked for before these partners release their passions. In these conditions complete fulfilment is obtained by both. The strength of their physical orientation makes them exceptionally suitable sexual partners. The influence of the spiritual element in the 7 vibration, far from inhibiting the Seventeen enhances and beautifies their physical expression. The Four has the capacity to accommodate to any form of experimentation and variation introduced by the Seventeen.

The combination of two positive personalities of generally similar disposition is a guarantee of a successful partnership. This can be achieved between any Seventeens and Fours born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. The 1 vibration present in the birthday of the Seventeen ensures positivity and its presence in the birth month ensures positivity in the Four. Fours who do not have this vibration in the birth month can still be relatively positive if it is found in other areas of influence. Other Fours will be dependent on their Seventeen partners for the greater part of the decisions to be made on a day-to-day basis.

4TH AND 18TH BIRTHDAYS

By virtue of the innate nature of the 4 vibration the 4th day gives out a static energy concentrated on the physical plane. By contrast, a significant degree of kinetic energy propels the 1, 8 and 9 vibrations comprising the 18th day. A power-plus force covering the physical, emotional and mental planes of expression is formed by the interaction of these vibrations.

Success in all their endeavours can be inspired by a combination of the passive and active forces that will form a Four/Eighteen partnership. These individuals will be attracted to each other on the basis of similarities though their personal styles will be on different levels of expression. Their initial attraction will be strengthened rather than weakened through the passage of time. The most significant factor that will contribute to the strengthening of their bonds will be the absence of competition. A united front under the undisputed leadership of the Eighteen will take on the world. The tendency of an Eighteen personality is to handle larger issues while delegating lesser responsibilities to an associate or partner, and a more dependable and trustworthy candidate can hardly be found than a Four. Some other typical Four characteristics such as commonsense, practicality, efficiency, dedication, loyalty, a high sense of duty and willingness to follow instructions and work steadfastly towards set goals will be treasured by the Eighteen once the Eighteen adjusts to the Four’s slower pace. Further Four qualities such as thrift, unflappability, regular and systematic habits, down-to earth ambitions, brevity of speech, self-discipline and one-pointed desire for stability will exercise a salutary influence upon many impetuous tendencies in the Eighteen.

The all-round power of the Eighteen is derived from the individuality, self-confidence, self-assertiveness, leadership, willpower and initiative of the 1 vibration. These qualities are reinforced by the competitiveness, judgment, foresight, business acumen, organisation and administrative talent of the 8 and the wisdom, humanity and wide mental horizons of the 9. The interplay of these positive qualities creates a driving force geared towards constant progress in human endeavour. Eighteens do not rest on their laurels or adopt complacent attitudes after some measure of success has been achieved, as a Four would be inclined to do. They are too highly motivated to make their mark in the world. Conflicts and challenges energise them while the Four may be inhibited by anxiety and lack of ego strength. The Four’s range of responses is confined to the physical plane as compared with the expanded awareness of the Eighteen. While the influence of the stable Four will no doubt cause a degree of personality modification in the Eighteen in the long term, the influence of the Eighteen can lift the Four’s potential into fresh areas of expression. Although not evident on the surface there are many latent possibilities in the Four which can be transformed into active powers by the influence of an ambitious partner. A Four will not have difficulty identifying with many of the Eighteen’s ambitions, and under their influence the Four’s role could take on a new significance. Their personal styles differ to the extent that Eighteens think and act on many scales higher than the Four. As a result, they do not cramp or restrict each other, but rather, as the relationship develops they will settle comfortably into their respective roles of leader and lieutenant. In order to receive the best from their Four partners Eighteens should learn to control frustration that is self-generated through negative personality traits such as intolerance and impatience of slower thinking and slower moving people. They should learn that in the case of the Four these same characteristics contribute to their steadfastness and self-discipline which the Eighteen will come to depend upon.

Fours are known to keep their emotions on an even keel and to go about their daily affairs without emotional involvement or an outward show of sentiment. On very rare occasions only, an outbreak of emotion may occur and this may take the form of physical release. It usually happens when a Four follows negative trends. Such spells do not last long and if any damage has been done deep remorse is felt once they are back to normal. The emotional life of the Eighteen will be found to be quite the opposite. A volatile emotional nature and a tendency to become emotionally involved in everything they undertake are undisguised characteristics. Consequently, their reactions to events, whether favourable or unfavourable, are more intense than those of the unflappable Four. Head as well as heart go into all their efforts but the heart overtakes the directions of the mind in their reactions. However, their reactions are overcome quickly as their eventful lifestyle prevents them from pondering over a particular result for long. Four partners will learn quickly that they cannot afford to overlook the spontaneity and emotional susceptibility of their Eighteen partners; nor can the Eighteen remain oblivious to the existence of tender spots in the Four though they may remain obscured for the most part.

In whatever position they are placed, Fours will display characteristics of meticulous and dedicated workers. They are temperamentally so constituted that they fit in comfortably into a domestic role or take up responsibilities of business life. However, their natural talents are utilised to the best advantage and to their full limits in the domestic scene. As breadwinners these individuals can be depended upon to hold secure positions and bring in a regular income, but their minds are not geared to high ambition and rapid progress. Their Eighteen partners do not possess the same domestic instincts or a predisposition towards a modest lifestyle. Their personality structure is equipped and geared towards high achievement in public life. An Eighteen obliged by circumstances to take up a domestic way of life and deprived of entry into the competitive world will be unfulfilled, restless and even troublesome. Those who find entry into public life find themselves in their natural element. They are rapidly overtaken by enthusiasm and ambition and consequently devote excessive time and energy to their careers and other public responsibilities and insufficient time for family obligations. The self-discipline and duty consciousness of a Four partner will be invaluable in such situations as they are not the type who would confront their partners with household problems. The knowledge that they occupy an indispensable position in the partnership will fortify the Four’s self-esteem and bring out the best in this personality. Fours also tend to immerse themselves in work and not allow themselves time for a measure of fun and frivolity. In fact both partners need to make a conscious effort to find time for themselves.

These busy people need to make an additional effort in order to enjoy a regular social life. An enforced breakaway from their usual commitments will not only refresh and stimulate them but also benefit the community as a whole, as both have the potential to become outstanding citizens. Fours are ever ready to undertake all practical tasks that contribute to the success of any social event. They avoid prominent roles and choose to move inconspicuously among people. Eighteens are more extroverted and their authoritative and knowledgeable aura automatically attracts a gathering of followers. Unlike many Fours, who see people and situations as a possible threat to their self-assurance, Eighteens move in society with the self-confidence of knowledgeable individuals. Their wide range of knowledge is always in demand. They seldom fail to live up to an image they project as advisers, counsellors and coaches as they keep up with the advance of new ideas and concepts. The complexities of their personality are such that the coexistence of two different motives behind their actions is not unusual. They may by a single action fulfil both selfish and humanitarian needs. Their choice of company will cover a wider field than that of the Four but this will not necessarily lead to problems. While the Four is a strict conformist, the Eighteen is not far from being a traditionalist themselves. The difference between the two will be seen in the narrower outlook of the Four and the broader horizons of the Eighteen.

Conversation between these partners will usually be restricted to practical matters in relation to their personal interests and the business affairs of the partnership. Seldom will they enter into discussions on world affairs or reminisce on sentimental events. The Four especially has to be drawn out into free-flowing conversation and the Eighteen is not the one to do so. There will be occasions when the Eighteen, under the influence of the universal and versatile 9 vibration, enthusiastically participates in animated conversation on matters unrelated to their normal interests, but this will not be done with their Four partners. Fours are doers rather than talkers. Economy in all matters is a habit of the Four and verbal economy is no exception. In their view time spent discussing emotional, abstract and academic topics can be better spent producing something having objective reality and practical use. The surging emotions of the Eighteen and the inner sentimentality of the Four reach a bottle-neck when they attempt to express their feelings orally. Frustration which is inevitably built up by this obstacle is released through physical exertion. Unfortunately, this outlet does little to enrich their romantic life or solve misunderstandings. Their sense of humour which could lessen the strain of an emotional crisis could be inhibited by emotional vulnerability and excessive time spent on non-personal affairs.

Freedom to spend their leisure time indulging in individual hobbies will be available to both. Their sense of individuality overcomes the need for constant companionship. Being natural handypersons the Four will spend time in and around the home engaged in repairs and maintenance and other hobbies in which their manual skills are used. A well equipped workshop or sewing room will always be an integral part of a Four’s residence. Though the Eighteen may spend more time away from home the Four can depend on this partner’s practical help and realistic ideas when needed. Community involvement in sporting activities, educational and environmental matters and other local activities will provide mutual interests. The Eighteen’s administrative talents and all-round expertise as leaders and coaches, and the Four’s willingness to help in all practical matters creates a team that will be in much demand.

Whatever the Eighteen does is done in a big way, and this will be most evident in their relationship with an unpretentious Four personality. Money-spending habits will not be an exception. While the Four concentrates on the pennies, making every one work for them, the Eighteen ignores the pennies and deals with the pounds. Automatically, all day-to-day money matters will fall into the hands of the thrifty Four while the Eighteen undertakes investment and other larger financial dealings. Eighteens possess undoubted skills in large scale money management and do not hesitate to use them in both public and private life. The Four’s misgivings and reluctance to extend themselves financially by heavy commitments will not stop the Eighteen. A tendency to spend money freely during an emotional crisis may also cause problems with a Four partner. In addition, such impulsive bouts of behaviour may complicate some of the partnership’s well laid plans.

The initiative of the Eighteen will no doubt introduce flexibility and enterprise not only in financial matters but also into their intimate relationship. Once they have overcome the obstacle of over-commitment to work and found time for each other a very satisfying intimate life is open to these partners. Eighteens especially may need to go through a process of unwinding before they perform at their best. Thereafter, strong magnetic links on the physical level predetermine compatibility in the sexual needs of these partners. Constitutionally suited for a single partner experience they are not disturbed by restlessness and the desire to experiment with a change of partners. Fours will not contest or resent an understanding whereby the Eighteen takes overall charge of the partnership while day-to-day duties are assigned to them. This form of arrangement will be exceptionally successful between an Eighteen and a positive Four as each will confidently undertake and execute their portion of responsibility. Positive Fours are those born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months. The 1 vibration in these months gives them the drive and self-confidence to use their 4 qualities to best advantage. Fours whose birthdates do not contain the 1 vibration are less sure of themselves and this uncertainty will result in greater dependence on their partners. Due to their constant involvement in public life Eighteens can hardly afford the stress of supporting a partner who is unable to stand on his or her own feet.

4TH AND 19TH BIRTHDAYS

Despite other areas of influence the single digit of the 4th day accounts for unmistakable 4 characteristics in all persons born on this day. The impact of other vibrations, particularly those of the birth month, will certainly affect the intensity and form of expression taken by 4 qualities. For example, the 4 is a physically based vibration and similar vibrations in the birth date and other areas of influence will emphasise the physical orientation of the personality. On the other hand, vibrations from the emotional and mental planes will open secondary outlets of expression and thereby modify physical tendencies. The 1 vibration, in whatever position it is found, becomes the activator of positive attitudes, and its presence or absence in the birth month especially, determines the degree of self-confidence available for maximum presentation of the characteristics of the birthday vibration. The 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months ensure positivity in all persons with single digit birthdays. This includes those born on the 10th, 20th and 30th days. Persons born in other months require a conscious effort to develop positivity and can do so with the aid of the 1 vibration in other points of influence. Four personalities could fall broadly into one or the other of these categories.

While the forces of the single digit of the 4th day are subject to variation by other points of influence, those of the 19th day are not affected to the same degree. The 19th day contains the intensified ego strength of the 1 vibration, thus ensuring positivity in all Nineteen personalities, irrespective of other areas of influence. Although referred to as Nineteens for the sake of convenience, people born on this day are basically One personalities (1 + 9 = 10 = 1). As the number 19 reduces to 1, the intensified force of the 1 vibration is felt through its instrumentality in the foreground as well as in the background of the personality. In addition, the 9 vibration which also operates in the foreground of the personality contributes mental and spiritual attributes which round off all sharp edges contained in an unqualified 1 vibration, such as uncontrolled egotism, egocentricity and an acquisitive nature. The Nineteen can do with an outlet into the emotional plane. Fours too can benefit from this outlet. The 1, 4 and 9 vibrations generate strong emotions, as do all vibrations that compose the human personality, but vibrations of the physical and mental planes depend on emotional plane outlets for natural release or unconscious demonstration of emotion. If not, emotion is built up within the personality and released in occasional outbursts.

Due to the differences in their essential nature and function some vibrations integrate harmoniously while the enforced integration of others merely creates a state of conflict. The 1 and 4 vibrations are among those that are in harmony. At the same time, the comprehensive 9 vibration at the end of the single digit spectrum contains qualities of all the previous digits and is therefore able to harmonise with any vibratory force. Four and Nineteen personalities may not always be on the same wavelength but for the most part they can meet and mingle without the interference of discordant notes. Widely contrasting personal demands and needs which could impair their chances of establishing a happy relationship will not be faced by these personalities.

When the Nineteen automatically makes final decisions relating to all important events, the Four will not interpret this habit as a violation of their individuality. The wise Nineteen will take care to use the down-to-earth and utilitarian views of the Four before such decisions are made. Fours usually experience difficulty coping with speed and adapting to sudden changes which demand immediate decisions and will therefore acknowledge the Nineteen’s ability to make speedy and far-seeing decisions. They will be quite happy to be relieved of the final responsibility. This will be a wise concession on the part of the Four as the Nineteen’s mind is seldom clouded by doubt, and as a consequence, they could easily lose patience when they have to put up with the caution and deliberation used by a Four before a decision is arrived at. Fours will, however, not be relieved of all decision making, nor will they tolerate such an arrangement. In fact, all decisions that contribute to the running of a stable and successful household may devolve on them as a Nineteen is certain to spend more time away from home. The Four is able to alternate between the role of wage earner and homemaker and if required to do so take up the full-time responsibility of homemaker. The Nineteen’s temperament is not cut out for a regulated domestic way of life. They will certainly feel hemmed in if circumstances keep them away from the experiences and challenges to be found in public life. As a natural figure of authority the Nineteen needs an enlarged sphere of activity to prove their originality, initiative and superior leadership talents. Fours tend to avoid competition and interaction with large numbers and various types of people. They give out their best working in a secure niche in public or private life. They are never at ease if subject to the pleasures and vagaries of an ambitious lifestyle or the whims and fancies of several associates. Development of their personality is intimately tied to their need for security and permanence and above all progress at their own pace. As Nineteens can take on the world in their stride a better balance will be achieved if this partner happens to be the principal income earner. They are essentially career persons.

Nineteens are extroverted personalities who are not conditioned by circumstances or social situations. Being independent of group standards they are able to make best use of opportunities and not feel the need to explain their actions. Without becoming bound by any system of thought, faction or group they can attract and intermingle with a wide range of personality types. Extroversion at all levels of society is, however, not a Four characteristic. These are individuals who prefer to do their own thing in their own time and do it their way with the minimum of fuss and interference. While not over-concerned about the impression they make on others, they are nevertheless strict conformists. Performing behind the scenes in social and community activities they dedicate themselves to upholding traditional values and customs and are among the first to resist attempts by anyone to alter the system, whether for disruptive or progressive reasons. A Four/Nineteen combination makes a valuable team in any social event. Their different social attitudes need not create pressure or friction as it is not in their nature to impose rules of behaviour upon each other. Usually the Four will contentedly settle into a supportive role while the Nineteen intermingles confidently with everyone.

Conversation between these partners will be kept to practical matters and arguments will be few and far between. It will always be easier to strike up a conversation with the Nineteen due to their wider range of interest in people as well as objects. They can also switch without effort from concrete to abstract topics of conversation. Fours generally confine their conversation to tangible matters and seldom allow themselves the time or show an inclination for entering into discussions on abstract and hypothetical matters. As their awareness if focused on the physical level they feel no intellectual need to press beyond what they can see, touch and use. Hence, that aspect of the Nineteen which reaches into abstract realm of mental and metaphysical pleasures will not induce the Four’s participation. Fours are not known for ‘the gift of the gab’. They get over what they have to say in short crisp sentences. Conversation can easily languish in the company of a Four. On the other hand, the Nineteen, assisted by dignified and authoritative body language, speaks out fluently without fear of disapproval or rejection of their views. On the rare occasions they are challenged they could respond by attacking their critics with an even mixture of emotion and facts.

Both Fours and Nineteens are personality types that assume personal responsibility for their wellbeing. The manner in which they choose to spend their spare time is an example of their self-sufficiency. While the creative minds of the Nineteen will be attracted to literature, music and other artistic pleasures, the creative hands of the Four will be kept busy producing and maintaining objects of utility. In addition, the magnetic attraction all Fours have with the earth opens a wide field of interest in the mineral and vegetable kingdoms. Most hobbies taken up by Fours could turn out to be of practical and financial advantage to the partnership while the Nineteen’s hobbies may be of educational and cultural value. Nineteens are travellers and Fours are non-travellers. A compromise will have to be reached as to the location of their annual holiday. Fours will want to return to the same spot each year while their Nineteen partners expect to experiment with different locations. While Fours will be content with a holiday in the country, the Nineteen would like to include some attractions of the city.

The Four’s approach to money matters is much more serious than that of the Nineteen. The difference between the two temperaments is that the Four suffers anxiety over possible financial insecurity and the fear of debt while such thoughts do not trouble the optimistic mind of the Nineteen. They do not spend the same amount of time pondering over their financial position, and when they spend on whatever they consider worthwhile, they seldom count the cost. They are by no means irresponsible spenders but are certainly generous and fearless in their spending habits. Once money has been spent they dismiss the financial aspect of the transaction from their minds. Budget-conscious Fours, on the other hand, maintain a careful accounting system having ensured that they have received full value for money spent. In most instances they have already obtained the best bargains available. While Nineteens generally purchase new goods the thrifty Four will be happy to settle for second-hand goods in sound condition. Both partners will eventually exercise a positive influence on each other’s spending and saving habits.

Warmer feelings for each other that are generally held in check in the presence of others are freely released in privacy. Unless these individuals have been conditioned by a prudish family and cultural background they should not suffer inhibitions in expressing their sexuality. Compatibility and consistency in this aspect of their relationship can be taken for granted as the sensuality of the Four and Nineteen is derived from vibrations having opposite polarities. Hence, there is a magnetic attraction that will act as a binding force. The dynamic energy of the active vibrations comprising the Nineteen complements or locks in perfectly with the powerful receptive force of the Four. As the initiator in most of their actions the Nineteen will always feel free to make known their desires in the knowledge that they enjoy the comfort of a partner who is willing and able to accommodate that at all times. From their point of view, Fours will know that they will at no stage be kept waiting or wanting.

Nineteens form better partnerships with positive Fours rather than with those who are inclined towards negativity. When Fours turn towards negativity the tremendous energy within them remains inert, and laziness takes over the personality. Nineteens expect their partners to stand on their own feet and carry out their responsibilities without being prompted to do so.

4TH AND 20TH BIRTHDAYS

The difference between a 4th and 2nd birthday combination and a 4th and 20th birthday combination is that in the latter the Four will be dealing with a Two partner in whom the 2 qualities are intensified. In all other respects the relationship will be the same. The presence of the Zero causes an intensification of the 10th, 20th and 30th birthdays, but does not contribute additional personality traits. Hence, the reader may refer to the chapter on the 4th and 2nd birthday combination and also consider the significance of the Zero in a Four/Twenty partnership.

As the 1 vibration originates such qualities as self-confidence, initiative, decision, authority, leadership and a strong self-image this vibration is needed in some degree of strength by Fours and Twos/Twenties so that these self-assertive traits become part of their integral personality. If both are born in the 1st, 10th, 11th or 12th months they will have the potential to live up to the positive aspects of their birthdays. Both will be able to stand on their own two feet and contribute independently to the success of the relationship. Other areas of influence (such as the name) can provide the 1 vibration’s influence but its power does not automatically become a part of the personality structure as it does when found in the birthday, month or year. A conscious effort has to be made to draw on the power of this vibration.

The partner in whom this vibration is stronger will take more of an active and decisive role while the other remains content to follow instructions. If both partners lack the 1 in any degree of strength the partnership will lack stability, and stability is the greatest need for these personality types. Their personal relationship may suffer due to the problems they bring upon themselves through lack of self-assurance, ambition and willpower.

4TH AND 21ST BIRTHDAYS

All persons born on the 12th and 21st days of the month are qualified Three personalities. Except for certain subtle personality differences there is very little to distinguish between them. Certain 2 qualities such as cooperation, companionship and a peaceful nature may be stronger in a Twenty-One/Three than in a Twelve/Three but in each case 1 and 2 characteristics combine to form a talented, versatile, self-confident and ego-centred personality.

The chapter on the 4th and 12th birthdays should be consulted as the relationship between a straightforward Four, born on the 4th day, and a Twenty-One will be very much the same as that with a Twelve.

4TH AND 22ND BIRTHDAYS

A noticeable feature of this birthday combination is the identity of the numbers. Just two even numbers or receptive vibrations operate within the combination’s network, which may indicate a simple analysis of these birthdays in terms of compatibility. On the one hand, depending on the overall personality structures of a particular couple such a first impression may not be incorrect as extraordinary similarities in temperament may exist between people born on the 4th and 22nd. On the other hand, extraordinary dissimilarities may also be found to exist. But the unique feature of this combination is that, regardless of differences in their personality structures, Fours and Twenty-Twos are compatible partners in an association of any form.

There is much less likelihood of variation in the personality structures of Fours than in Twenty-Twos. Unmistakable 4 characteristics are present in all Four personalities irrespective of other areas of influence. Variation will only be seen in the degree of positive or negative manifestation of these characteristics. As in all multiple digit birthdays the 22 may be reduced to a single digit which will indicate the basic personality type. In the case of the 22nd day the basic personality type will be a Four. However, the number 22 is a master number representing a master vibration and, as such, is a much more powerful force than any vibration represented by a single digit. In a personality assessment it can be taken as a 4 or considered in its unreduced state. The difficulty with an individual born on the 22nd is to know whether 4 characteristics form the basic personality or whether the individual is living up to the lofty vibratory forces of the 22. Such persons may fall into three broad-based categories. The largest will comprise people who should be considered strong Four personalities while those who alternate between the rank of a Four and the stature of a Twenty-Two will constitute a smaller portion. Only a few exceptional individuals will make up the third division as highly gifted people who live for the most part as full-fledged Twenty-Twos. A guiding factor will always be the number of the birth month taken in conjunction with the social and cultural background of the individual. Despite the superior nature of this vibration all persons born on the 22nd require the ego-strength and motive power of the 1 vibration in order to give full expression to the exceptional potential of their birthday. Needless to say, this vibration is also needed by those born on the 4th for the same reasons. When Twenty-Twos are classed as Four personalities they cannot be viewed as typical Fours but as Fours whose talents and personality traits have been expanded and intensified. This is so because the power of the master vibration which can never be neutralised altogether stays as a potential force in the depths of the personality structure.

In the majority of instances partnerships between people born on the 4th and 22nd will be, in reality, a partnership between Four personalities, but a clear distinction between their range of self-expression will soon become evident. True to the physical nature of the 4 vibration the thoughts and actions of the straightforward Four partner will be centralised on the physical plane. Urged on by the multiple impulses of the 22nd day the Twenty-Two has access to all planes of expression, but with an emphasis as a practical idealist on the physical plane. While the Four is a natural builder, the Twenty-Two is a natural master builder. As the thoughts of both partners run along constructive lines the practical side of life will provide the best opportunity for establishing a stable and compatible relationship. At the same time, the considerable difference in their range of thought and aspiration will influence the particular roles taken up by each. The Four is usually regional and provincial in outlook while the Twenty-Two is non-partisan and international.

The upward draw of their spiritual nature and the downward pull of their physical nature may lead to an identity crisis and loss of direction in many younger Twenty-Twos. This self-conflict may cause problems if they get into a permanent relationship at an early age. Many of them are late starters in life on account of the time spent in this process of self-adjustment. They are often not ready for the responsibilities of a permanent relationship until they have understood their complex nature and found proper direction in life. Once they have achieved this and formed a clearly defined self-image they overtake all other personality types with the speed with which they acquire knowledge and the expertise they display in its application. Fours do not have a complex personality structure to reconcile and are therefore able to undertake practical responsibilities from an early age. They are however cautious, slow moving, unimaginative and easily settled in their ways. The progressive and versatile Twenty-Two may experience some frustration with the Four’s slower progress and their reluctance to accept advanced ideas. However, in the course of time, the influence of the Twenty-Two’s elastic temperament will be of considerable benefit to the inelastic Four.

A Four will not put up with interference or dominance by a partner or associate but will readily follow a leader with originality, practicality and commonsense. As these are some of the more obvious characteristics of a Twenty-Two the leadership role will automatically be taken over by this partner. Fours spend time seeking some logical and practical solution before acting while Twenty-Twos may act on intuition and the added insight of psychic understanding. Unlike the down-to-earth Four, they are open to these higher impulses. Sense experience does not become their only source of knowledge. Fours have their ambitions but not the same motive power of the Twenty-Two to reach higher levels of a chosen profession, nor will they cover the same expanse of territory in their choice of work. Many Fours are inclined to take what comes their way rather than go after opportunity and face competition.

More concerned with everyday things than abstract matters and international affairs, Fours have the knack of paying strict attention to the matter at hand. They are well fitted to take charge of many onerous and repetitious domestic duties. Unless they are inspired by imaginative partners they could easily allow themselves to become locked into a routine of work and service. However, an unconventional Twenty-Two partner will certainly prevent them from falling into a habit controlled lifestyle. Although Twenty-Twos are quite capable of running a busy household they are too free-lance and full of ideals to remain truly domesticated. Their compelling need is for an unrestricted lifestyle in a wide field of activity. The several businesses, social and humanitarian activities they undertake are bound to come into conflict with a domestic role. Strong Twenty-Twos will live far below their possibilities if they are tied down by circumstances to the even tenor of a quiet suburban or country lifestyle.

Fours usually form the backbone of local social activity as workers behind the scenes. They are also strict conformists and traditionalists who devote much of their time and energy upholding prevailing rules of social conduct and safeguarding ancestral ways and customs. Fours who are inclined towards negativity are likely to view persons and events through fixed ideas and lose sight of possibilities that lie beyond their own set of assumptions. While they fit easily into the mores of local community life their Twenty-Two partners may find the local scene too parochial for their expanded ideas. They are attuned to the vibrations of all levels of life and hence observe the world through a much broader vision. Their social life needs to become a demonstration of their comprehensive outlook on life free from the confines of narrow nationalistic, religious and social prejudices. They move in society with a strong sense of purpose guided by their idealism. They are extroverted, accessible and emotionally controlled. Unless they belong to a minority of negative Twenty-Twos they are also devoted humanitarians. The negative Twenty-Two is an escalation of a negative Four personality. They could be insensitive, materialistic and full of obsessions.

Unless family and social background have suppressed these forces, precognition and other forms of ESP may play a startling role in the life of a Twenty-Two. This may be one aspect of the Twenty-Two’s life they may not share with Four partners. Fours and Twenty-Twos are invariably of one mind when it comes to service to others in practical ways, but communication may cease when the Twenty-Two turns, from time to time, from practical realities to higher influences that are beyond sense perception. Fours do not possess the same capacity to pick up very fine vibrations of transcendental planes. As the Four’s intake of knowledge is dependent on physical laws and practical demonstration they are slower than the Twenty-Two whose intuitive wisdom enables them to become aware of many things without recourse to analysis and explanation. They have a deeper need for oral communication but the pragmatic Four may lack the flexibility to adjust to the Twenty-Two’s multi-dimensional thought processes and conversational skills. Fours are quickly identified by their directness of speech and specialisation in a limited range of topics. Twenty-Twos are known for their diplomacy and unlimited range of subject matter.

Sensitivity of touch and manual dexterity are physical traits common to both partners. Differences of opinion as to how things should be done are bound to arise as both are perfectionists. However the mutual respect they will develop for each other’s expertise will prevent such differences becoming counter-productive to the partnership. As these personality types are not natural rivals they will pool their talents for mutual benefit. Their leisure activities will also benefit as a result. Much of the Four’s spare time will be spent in and around the home while the Twenty-Two will extend their interests to humanitarian and spiritual development. Fours are much less interested in travel and change of scene, and it may take some urging on the part of the Twenty-Two to get them moving into new ventures and places.

The constructive use of money is a talent common to both personality types, but their attitudes towards money may differ. The Four evaluates most things in monetary terms and may develop an attachment to money for its own sake and for the security it provides. Their saving habits may become stronger than their spending habits. Expenditure on personal items will always be modest and economical. The Twenty-Two, on the other hand, develops a detached interest in money. While looking upon it as a source of security they will not let saving habits override expenditure on personal needs. In doing so, they are neither wasteful nor impulsive with their cash and goods, but use their immense practical skills to obtain the best value and produce the best effect in whatever they apply their skills. Money spent by them usually turns into a form of investment for a better quality of life. Their influence on the Four, in this respect will always act to the Four’s personal advantage and the promotion of the partnership’s prospects. In personal appearance Twenty-Twos usually stand out among the best dressed people in any company.

The experience of togetherness felt in so many unspoken ways in an orderly family life will play a vital part in this partnership. Loyalty and devotion to their commitments are personality traits which both partners will contribute to strengthen family bonds. The number 4 symbolises the leading sex vibration, and as both partners are basically Fours, robust sexual activity can be expected. Neither partner should find it necessary to seek satisfaction or experimentation outside their union, nor would they wish to do so as it is not in the nature of a Four to change partners. Although emotional demonstration and sense of romance may be out of character with these partners, their love for each other and their dependants is deep and abiding, and is expressed by unstinted service in the labour of love. They will always make an effort to avoid hurting each other as both realise their sensitivity to disrespect, criticism, sarcasm and practical jokes, or any word or action that may suddenly expose a real or imagined personality weakness. The Twenty-Two’s involvement in matters outside family life will not reduce their capacity to love and care for their partners. Whatever they undertake will sooner or later redound to the benefit of their loved ones.

Positive attitudes towards life will be certain if one of these partners or both are born in the 1st, 10th, 11th or 12th months. The 1 vibration in the birth month will provide the ego-strength needed for self-confident expression of the forces generated by the birthday. A positive Twenty-Two is likely to reach out for and attain the power of the master vibration while a positive Four will be independent and self-assured, and not feel inferior in any way to their Twenty-Two partners. If neither partner has the 1 vibration in the birth month the partnership will be compatible but not as productive.

4TH AND 23RD BIRTHDAYS

The unique feature of these birthdays is the immensity of their opposite characteristics. Not only is one a single digit birthday and the other, a multiple digit birthday but they also differ widely in their polarities and planes of expression. (The polarity of vibratory forces is indicated by the receptive and quiescent nature of even numbers and the active and restless nature of odd numbers). Distinctive 4 characteristics of a receptive polarity concentrated on the physical plane constitute the major portion of the personality structure of individuals born on the 4th day. In other words, the physical will be the Four’s principal field of expression. Additional points of influence within the birth date and name may provide outlets into other planes of expression but these will only be of a secondary or subsidiary nature. The individual will always carry the unmistakable stamp of a pragmatic Four personality. The 23rd day is a much more complicated proposition. As a complexity of three vivacious and mobile vibratory forces, this birthday presents an individual who cannot easily be type-cast, as could be an individual with a single digit birthday. Twenty-Threes are basically qualified Five personalities (2 + 3 = 5). It is difficult enough to ascribe a clearly defined set of characteristics to a straightforward Five born on the 5th day due to the mercurial nature of the 5 vibration, but a Twenty-Three/Five becomes even more enigmatic with the interaction of the sensitive 2 and the vibrant 3. However, it may be said, by way of comparison, that the Twenty-Three has a fluid personality structure that is the direct opposite of the solid nature of the Four. Constancy of purpose could be a problem with a Twenty-Three when the high pressure forces within them pull and toss the individual in several directions.

The natural rhythmic movements of the 2, the mental restlessness of the 3 and the nervous energy of the 5 combine to form an alert and dynamic integral personality whose vibrations may hold a strange fascination for the unflappable Four. At the same time the steadfast nature of the Four can evoke the curiosity of the unsettled Twenty-Three. Fours and Twenty-Threes who feel drawn to each other may at the same time want to avoid each other. Those who eventually get together on the basis of these opposite temperaments will benefit immensely in the long term, but before such success is achieved considerable personality adjustments and concessions will be required by both. These differences that once attracted them may soon cause them to move apart if a conscious effort is not made to reap the best aspects of each other’s temperaments and talents and improve on their own weaknesses.

Autocratic leadership is not a position that will be sought by either partner. In the case of the Twenty-Three leadership traits are not lacking in their personality structure and will always be used when immediate decisions are required and emergencies have to be faced but personal freedom is much more important than the urge to take charge of situations. Four personalities prefer to be left alone to perform their task in their own style and in their own time. They are usually perfectionists who will not tolerate speed and slipshod work, which is possible with a Twenty-Three. They prefer to concentrate on their own responsibilities than involve themselves in controlling and directing others. A Four/Twenty-Three partnership will be somewhat loose in terms of centralised authority. The slower Four can at times be activated by the zestful Twenty-Three while many impetuous actions of the latter can be prevented by the Four’s natural caution. Routine and system are essential needs in the daily affairs of the Four while the Twenty-Three finds it difficult to accept the discipline of working to a timetable. These different attitudes become instantly evident in domestic affairs. A life tied to domesticity will become intolerable to the highly imaginative and volatile Twenty-Three. As an inevitable result the dutiful Four who has much less personal wants and demands will take over the greater portion of domestic cares. Twenty-Threes who enter public life will invariably change jobs several times during their working life. People governed by even numbers are essentially nurturers and as such, are givers of service and receivers of goods while those controlled by odd numbers are receivers of service and givers of goods. Hence, Four partners will always be generous with their time and practical skills even to the point of self-sacrifice but they will always be protective and possessive of their goods and money. With a predominance of odd numbers the Twenty -Three will expect others to be of service to them but will always be generous with their money and possessions.

The Twenty-Three’s extroverted and spontaneous behaviour in society is quite a contrast to the Four’s quiet and unpretentious ways. The Twenty-Three’s informal and casual manner which increases their capacity to meet and mingle with an ever widening circle of friends and acquaintances is certain to conflict with the Four’s formal manner and fondness for familiar faces and scenes. While a speedy turnover of social contacts stimulates the Twenty-Three the Four’s confidence falls away when taken out of familiar territory and company. The Fours are individuals who are unlikely to indulge in conduct that will damage their reputation or jeopardise the welfare of the partnership. The Twenty-Three, however, may often act as the spirit moves them and place themselves in untenable positions, often to the displeasure of their Four partner.

Unless environmental pressures have inhibited their self-esteem and transformed an extroverted temperament into an introverted one, all Twenty-Threes make maximum use of their several communication skills. Some clearly distinguishing features of this personality are fluency of speech, emotionally toned body language and a lively sense of humour. They are open and optimistic personalities who are prepared to enter into discussion on any topic even though they may possess scant knowledge or an abiding interest in it. Conversation cannot languish in their company. Their approachability can safely be taken for granted but not their sustained interest. If these individuals are identified by their extensive vocabulary, instant repartee, eloquent gestures and readiness to communicate, the opposite characteristics will be observed in their Four partners. Plain spoken Fours have a limited vocabulary which they use quite accurately with impassive body language. Their conversational moods cannot be taken for granted. Unlike The Twenty-Three who uses speech to release tension and frustration the Four uses silence and physical activity to overcome emotional pressure. While Twenty-Threes are excited and stimulated by argument and discussion Fours are worn down or angered by verbal contests. They are seldom enticed into heated discussions as the lack of oral dexterity and their very definite opinions leave little room for impersonal exchange of views. On the rare occasions they may enter into a discussion they will stubbornly adhere to their point of view. They also find discussion of emotionally charged issues particularly distasteful and distressing. The free and easy speech of the Twenty-Three and the measured and forthright speech of the Four illustrate their different styles of communication.

In the use they make of their leisure hours, as in their personal habits, these partners offer the strongest contrast. Both need personal freedom but they use their freedom in different ways. Speed and variety verses repose and regularity will be seen as the basic differences. Governed by a multitude of desires the Twenty-Three is pulled in different directions and becomes involved in several activities that keep them away from home. Fours do not need outside interests to keep them happy. For the most part they take up hobbies that are home oriented. While Fours may be constitutionally unable to harmonise with all the Twenty-Three’s restless and changeable habits their tendency to devote too much time and energy to work can be checked to some extent by the Twenty-Three’s love of the light-hearted things of life.

Money will doubtless be the source of constant conflict as the Twenty-Three’s reckless spending habits will always run counter to the Four’s efforts to economise. While the wellbeing of the Four is closely tied to economic security in the form of a regular income and a reserve for a rainy day, The Twenty-Three does not worry about money matters or a possible downturn in their financial position at a future date. While the past, present and future all concern the Four, the present is what concerns the Twenty-Three. Experiencing and enjoying life is what’s important to them and money is regarded only as a means of achieving this objective. When they run short of money they use their versatility and ingenuity to make some more.

With a roving eye induced by a keen sense of beauty and romance, the love-life of the Twenty-Three is imaginative and frequently eventful. Replete with verbal endearments and emotional expression their sentimental advances may not always meet with favourable responses from their unexcitable Four partners. This will be especially evident in the presence of others. The novelty and openness in the Twenty-Three’s debonair approach to lovemaking is inconsistent with the Four’s natural habits of privacy, conservatism, regularity and a firm belief in a time and place for everything. The important adjustment the Twenty-Three has to make is to control their impetuosity and not embarrass their Four partner or expect them to give an immediate response when they are busy on some other matter. Fours like to concentrate on one thing at a time. As in all other aspects of life Fours display greater consistency and endurance in their sexual expression. In appropriate conditions they will not only match but outlast the physical energy of a Twenty-Three.

Fours and Twenty-Threes with the 1 vibration in their birth months have a better sense of purpose and self-confidence than those who have not. The ego strength and positive attitudes endowed by this vibration offer better chances of a prosperous relationship in which each partner will independently undertake and carry out a division of responsibility. The absence of this vibration in the birth month or in other areas of influence in the Twenty-Three will result in loss of direction and a scattering of talent. The Four personality who is not activated by this vibration will lack decision, self-esteem and ambition. A positive Twenty-Three will be impatient and intolerant of a negative Four, just as a positive Four will be too much of a disciplinarian for a negative Twenty-Three.

4TH AND 24TH BIRTHDAYS

Kindred souls are found most frequently with even numbered birthdays such as the 4th and 24th. Odd numbers, which generate active vibrations of an opposite polarity, are conspicuous by their absence in this combination. As both days are controlled by receptive vibrations we may safely take for granted that people born on these days feel comfortable and confident in each other’s company. They are not faced with the pressures of adjustment to ways of life that are inconsistent with their own personality structures. Relationships are formed through similarity of temperament on a foundation built upon receptive qualities such as quietude, harmony, patience, moderation, deliberation, cooperation, service, conformist and conservative habits. In addition, there are negative qualities such as anxiety and indecision that may inhibit full expression of their natural talents. Characteristics associated with active vibrations such as instant decision, originality, leadership, optimism, self-confidence, aggressiveness, adventure, movement, change, competition and non-conformist ways will not be strong motivating factors in this partnership.

Over and above their similarities of temperament resulting in a close affinity between Fours and Twenty-Fours there are also sufficient personality differences that will enable them to develop a reasonably expansive and progressive lifestyle. Partners who are too much alike in temperament may enjoy a sense of wellbeing but they may also not progress much over time as their relationship may lack the vitality needed to initiate change and advancement. The risk of falling into a habituated and regimented lifestyle can be reduced by the efforts of the Twenty-Four partner who has a broader outlook on life. As the 4 vibration is exclusively of an earthly and practical nature Four personalities express themselves for the most part on the physical plane where their bodily strength and manual dexterity meet with few limitations. On the other hand the tripartite nature of the 24th day opens three planes of expression in which the Twenty-Four personality, with equivalent skills and proficiency, can find motive and cause for self-expression. The emotional 2, the physical 4 and the mental 6 vibrations which form the Twenty-Four interact in harmony thereby adding to the strength of expression on each plane and the personality as a whole. As a consequence of these multiple horizons of thought and self-expression the Twenty-Four has certain advantages over a Four. However, this partnership will not be a case of dominance by one and subservience by the other as it is not in the nature of either to seek and hold undisputed authority in any position. Cooperation, collaboration, joint decision making and low-key non-competitive behaviour are features more in keeping with their temperaments. Their relationship will most likely be one in which everything will be done on a fifty-fifty basis and in which neither partner will feel overshadowed by the other. The advantages of the Twenty-Four’s, multi-dimensional outlook will be evenly matched by qualities of steadfastness, solidity and reliability realised by the Four’s concentration on the physical plane. These are qualities Twenty-Fours look for in their partners.

Strong impulses towards guardianship and a domestic way of life emerge to an equal degree in both partners. Much of their time and effort will be willingly spent in a family atmosphere followed by contributions to community welfare. These responsibilities will automatically become a joint undertaking. With both parties having an obsession for regularity, timetables and orderliness in all their affairs, their home life will be managed on systematic and economical lines. Either partner can successfully take up the role of breadwinner and at the same time carry out a share of family responsibility. They are much too family minded and home oriented to allow an occupational role to undermine family obligations.

Conventional and traditional habits of behaviour peculiar to both partners draw them into sympathetic association with similar groups of people and exclude them from those who constantly look for novelty and excitement in their social life. Within these chosen groups their popularity as individuals and as a couple is quickly established as it is not in their nature to push their egos or intrude upon the privacy and freedom of others. The relatively modest opinion they hold of themselves does not cause offence or reduce the self-esteem of others as the boastful nature of egoistic people would do. More often than not the regard they receive from others exceeds their own self-esteem. Their solid family life, community consciousness and willingness to offer their service to those in need in a variety of ways are practical means by which they earn the regard of others. The Twenty-Four has a greater need for direct interaction with people on a social level and to fulfil this need they are more extroverted in their manner than the Four. Fours are more involved in several practical tasks of daily life to spare the time for an extended social life. While the Four is satisfied with the company of a few trusted friends the Twenty-Four is always ready to enlarge their circle of friends and acquaintances, but this will not be carried out in a manner or to an extent that will interfere with the harmony of their family life. Home entertainment will be given preference by both partners to amusements in public places, but the Twenty-Four will look forward to an occasional meal in a good restaurant.

Both partners may need some prompting or an incentive of one form or another before they enter into animated conversation. They are better listeners than conversationalists. When they do converse they exhibit different styles of communication. The Four is forthright and explicit in speech using a minimum of body language. They are intolerant of contradictory opinions and usually refuse to enter into prolonged discussions. Their outspoken manner may at times injure the feelings of sensitive types. Being themselves rather more susceptible to emotional hurts the Twenty-Four is conscious of the sentiments of others when they give out their opinions. They use tact and subtlety in order to avoid giving offence but, as a consequence, they may not be as clear and precise in what they say as their Four partners. Nevertheless, communication between these partners on personal matters will always be free from pretence and duplicity as honesty of thought and conduct is another ruling influence in this combination.

An inner restlessness followed by an urge for travel, exploration and adventure is not an aspect of character invested in these personalities. They are, by and large, home and community oriented people. As such, almost the same territory will be covered by them in their spare time activities. Manual dexterity, with which both are gifted, will be applied in several directions. Whenever possible, extensions, repairs and maintenance in and around the home will be carried out by them without the use of paid labour. A good table with regular meals will be one of the prominent features of a Four/Twenty-Four household as the consumption of good food and drink is one of the creature comforts important to the wellbeing of both partners. Epicurean societies and groups interested in the culinary arts will attract their membership. The Twenty-Four’s interest in literature and music will add another dimension to their leisure activities. Although for obvious reasons some tasks will be carried out individually, for the most part, these partners will be happy to share their hobbies. Working as an industrious twosome many of their hobbies could be of a productive and marketable nature which could bring in an extra income. As both partners are generous with their time and skills the community will benefit by their joint participation in church, school and civic activities.

Though generous with their personal time and skills these individuals are careful with their money and goods. A stable financial position is essential to their peace of mind. They will automatically work in cooperation to establish this condition, and, as the saving habit is active in both, this will not be difficult to achieve. Having a good sense of values they use economical and selective guidelines in all their purchases. They also take good care of their possessions and work constantly towards self-sufficiency, neither borrowing nor lending their money or belongings. Free-spending individuals with no anxiety over money matters may consider Fours and Twenty-Fours rather tight-fisted if they come under their authority or work in close association with one or both partners.

The Four is an emotionally stable individual but not easily accessible on an emotional level. They could become tongue-tied and disoriented in emotionally charged scenes. The Twenty-Four is subject to fluctuation of emotion and occasional moodiness, but they are emotionally more accessible and much more at ease when called upon to handle an emotional issue. They usually make the first move to settle any misunderstanding or disagreement as they are more flexible than their Four partners. The average Four is too practical and down-to-earth to follow a romantic line in the demonstration of love. Loyalty, thoughtful actions and duty well performed are the means by which they reveal their love. While the Twenty-Four is not in the same category of romantics as individuals with active vibrations, they stand out as romantics beside the impassive nature of the Four. Their sensitivity and imaginative powers are considerably more active. However, despite these differences these partners will enjoy a very compatible sex life as the strongest of all sex forces is found in the 4 vibration which both partners possess. Furthermore, the 2 and 6 vibrations in the Twenty-Four will introduce heightened emotional experience and mental imagery which will enrich the physical activity of both partners.

The birth month plays a significant role in the formation of the integral personality structure of both these individual. The absence of the dynamic 1 vibration in both birthdays in the first instance reduces self-confidence and the motivation to strive for better things. As a result, both may live below their full possibilities. However, if this vibration is present in the birth month as in the months of January, October, November and December they will function as positive personalities and develop the full potential of their birthdays and destiny numbers. If not, the partnership will lack ambition and strength of purpose. If one partner has this vibration in the birth month the leading role will be taken by this partner who will also be instrumental in drawing out much that is best in the other.

4TH AND 25TH BIRTHDAYS

Absence of complexity in one and depth of complexity in the other are the most prominent features of these birthdays. Of all vibratory forces symbolised by the single digits 1 to 9 that which is most resistant to extraneous influences and therefore the least complicated is the 4. Hence, people born on the 4th day are able to express themselves as straightforward Four personalities without facing conflicting forces that may enter from without or operate from within that personality structure. Unlike those who are influenced by open and impressible vibrations they are not pulled in different directions by the inflow of distracting elements from the imaginative, emotional and intuitive planes. Their thought processes and subsequent actions are firmly and safely based and closed in on the physical plane. Four personalities are also passive by nature due to the receptive polarity of the 4 vibration. Their rhythm is preserved on an even keel as it is not agitated by the nervous energy that keeps those with active vibrations constantly in motion. Compared with the indivisible nature of the 4th day, the 25th day’s vibratory structure is best described as highly complex and enigmatic. A Twenty-Five personality is not easily described in simple terms due to the fluid and ambivalent nature of the 2 and 5 vibrations which operate in the foreground of the personality. The 7 vibration at fundamental levels also presents further difficulties. The straightforward 7 of the 7th day is in itself a deep and puzzling force but the 7 that is reduced from the double digit 25 presents an even more perplexing condition. Unlike the unflappable Four who is not subject to the confusing interaction of multiple vibrations, the Twenty-Five reacts spontaneously to external influences due to the sensitive and alert nature of the 2 and 5 vibrations and the intuitive and private nature of the 7. A strong vein of psychic ability and receptivity to all subtle forces which enables them to perceive the world with more awareness and sensitivity is also formed by the combination of these vibrations. However, internal conflict which escapes the Four is a problem which confronts the Twenty-Five. The three vibratory forces may not always vibrate in harmony but may also clamour for expression in different directions. This conflict often has a bearing on the Twenty-Five’s interrelation with others in general and a partner in particular. It may stand out in contrast with the even-tempered nature of a Four partner. While for the most part the Four’s actions and reactions may be anticipated those of the Twenty-Five cannot be taken for granted. Their moods are variable within an environment that contains a wide range of stimulation and responses. As open-minded and uncommitted people anxious to experience life in its many phases they refuse to be restricted to a possessive relationship or allow their life to settle down to a fixed pattern. Among many things one could say about the Twenty-Five one could also say the opposite. This is not the case with a Four who has set habits and who is well known for fixed opinions, methodical lifestyle, and reluctance to adapt to change or undertake new ventures.

Neither the Four nor the Twenty-Five is so greatly attached to their egos that they need to impose their will on others. Freedom to express themselves in their individual ways is more important to them than the satisfaction derived from direct authority over people. As neither will appreciate living in the other’s shadow clearly defined territories need to be established to avoid conflict that will be caused by temperamental differences. At the same time, in instances where a joint effort is called for, their behaviour could be stimulated as well as modified by their interaction. Patience on the part of the quick moving Twenty-Five and trust on the part of the cautious Four is all that is required. The Four will sooner or later realise that the venturesome Twenty-Five has an underlying stability that will not place the welfare of their relationship in jeopardy. The Four will be prevented from falling into a groove while some of the Twenty-Five’s impulsive ideas can be censored by the pragmatic Four. Some of the Twenty-Five’s spur of the moment actions caused by the 2 and 5 vibrations if not resisted by the Four partner will eventually be checked by the inbuilt safeguard of the 7 vibration which has much in common with the 4 in regard to safety, security, good financial management and traditional values. The Twenty-Five partner may often appear to hold the leading role due to their extroverted facade and ability to make rapid decisions, but many of these decisions could be altered or rejected by the Four after due consideration of practical and economic circumstances. Fours can be quite adamant when unconvinced that there are sufficient advantages in any new course of action. While content to follow a leader whose decisions and directions are governed by commonsense, practicality and thrift they reserve their right of veto. Twenty-Fives are not as readily prepared to surrender the freedom to make decisions and changes in their lifestyle.

Domestic instincts are stronger in the ‘stay put’ temperament of the Four. Their overriding desire is to establish, consolidate and maintain a position of security and permanence in domestic as well as public life. Once this has been achieved it will not be easy to persuade them to move house or change jobs or business interests. The dual task of domestic responsibility and earning a living are well within their capacity. In a domestic scene they gravitate naturally to tasks such as budgeting, shopping and house maintenance. While the Four can comfortably fall into the role of full-time homemaker their Twenty-Five partners will not willingly and contentedly fit into a domestic situation. Their complex personality structure contains too much curiosity and incentive to explore and experience life in all its phases to settle down to a centralised lifestyle. Although they are quite capable of performing all tasks associated with domesticity such a lifestyle will be regarded as a form of imprisonment. Their many-sided nature demands all-round self-expression, and their natural ability to turn a situation to their advantage should not be neglected. Restlessness and speed and the need to keep many irons in the fire are Twenty-Five characteristics that will be introduced into the domestic scene which a Four partner will find hard to put up with. There are bound to be changes in the Twenty-Five’s source of income which may also cause anxiety to the Four each time they take place. Unlike the immovable Four a Twenty-Five will go through a variety of situations during a working career. Nevertheless, the partnership will be best served if the Twenty-Five takes up the role of breadwinner despite a few worries they may cause the Four. Their enterprising nature will ensure greater income.

Personality differences need not present difficulties in their social life. The quiet and unobtrusive ways of the Four stand out against the more extroverted and changeable behaviour of the Twenty-Five. While Fours generally take up a position as onlookers in a social gathering the Twenty-Five is a mix of the observer and participant. They assume the latter role through their ability to instantly pick up the vibrations of any gathering and make an immediate decision whether or not to switch on the charming side of their nature and enter into the spirit of the occasion. Their extroverted behaviour, however, is a rather deceptive quality as these personalities can also withdraw into themselves and enjoy their own company or the company of a quiet partner when they choose to do so. Both Fours and Twenty-Fives see society as an important part of life but will refuse to be ruled by its demands. For different reasons they become easily bored by the absence of physical activity. Rather than close interaction with people both prefer to maintain contact with the natural world in a variety of outdoor interests. Twenty-Fives react to unfamiliar people and scenes with curiosity while Fours may do so with a degree of reticence and suspicion. The desire for travel which comes upon the Twenty-Five from time to time will benefit the Four after their initial reluctance to move has been overcome.

A time to communicate and a time for silence will be a matter of course in this relationship as a high value is placed on periods of silence by both partners. The Four, in particular, will not be responsible for conversation that has no realistic and practical value. They will not confuse an issue by introducing unrelated matters as a Twenty Five may be inclined to do. Provocative argument that could arouse the ire of the Twenty-Five will be sidestepped, but the Four’s habit of making flat statements without offering adequate explanation could still cause problems. Both partners resent direct questioning on personal affairs and evasive responses can be expected if their desire for privacy is not respected. With a provocative partner a Twenty-Five will respond with temporary emotional outbursts in speech and body language but this will be minimised by the quiet and unemotional reactions of the Four. The natural flow of emotion released by the 2 and 5 vibrations does not go uncontrolled as the 7 vibration resists an emotional show as much as the 4.

Both personality types find themselves very much at home in the countryside engaged in rural occupations and pastimes. Whenever joint participation in any spare time activity is engaged in it will take place in the outdoors and in natural surroundings. Their considerable manual skills can be put to profitable and pleasurable use in any form of horticulture and animal husbandry. Couples adapted to suburban living are certain to keep pets and maintain tastefully landscaped gardens. These are individuals who will also allow each other the freedom to pursue individual hobbies. Fours are naturally attracted to mechanical and structural jobs and also to delicate and exacting tasks in which deftness with their fingers and hands can be used to advantage. Twenty-Fives can prove themselves equally proficient in these practical areas but their nature demands a wider field of activity in music, dancing, sport, travel and enquiry into non-physical and abstract aspects of life. They are natural travellers and therefore splendid travelling companions who will certainly influence their Four partners to join them on regular tours.

There is a difference in their attitude towards money and material possessions which may require some understanding and adjustment but this should not be the cause of any serious dissension. Fours are cost and value conscious people who will not settle for a product they consider has been overpriced or appears to be of doubtful practical use. They are attached to their belongings and spend time over their safety and upkeep. Their possessions are acquired through hard work and thrifty habits. They do not borrow nor do they lend. Indebtedness is a condition that demolishes their self-esteem and sense of wellbeing. As in all other aspects of life the Twenty-Five’s approach to the material side of life is changeable. They are not overly attached to their possessions as a Four would be unless compelled to be so by circumstances or the pressure of a materialistic partner. The Four insists on thinking things over before a purchase is made; a practice which is applied even to smaller items. The Twenty-Five makes instant decisions and spontaneous purchases with the inbuilt safeguard of the 7, the speculative courage of the 5 and the adaptability of the 2. Twenty-Five is prepared, within limits, to fall into debt in order to venture into new undertakings. However, in matters involving a large financial outlay the influence of the money conscious 7 vibration comes to the fore and places the Twenty-Five on a similar footing as the Four. This enables both to act in cooperation.

The absence of emotional display in the Four partner is amply compensated by physical sensitivity and qualities of loyalty and fidelity. Their extraordinary sense of touch plus physical stamina makes them exceptionally responsive lovers. As soon as the Twenty-Five understands that the Four is not a romantic type they will cease looking for spontaneity, sentimental overtures and other forms of demonstrative behaviour which are not part of the nature of this placid and receptive partner. What a Four may consider appropriate closeness in their general conduct in public may be too distant and reserved for the enthusiastic Twenty-Five. Once the emotionally expressive Twenty-Five realises that the Four needs a time and place for everything these partners will settle down to a most enjoyable sexual relationship. The initiative will usually be taken by the active forces prompting the Twenty-Five and the powerful receptive forces within the Four will cope with all the Twenty-Five’s broadminded and uninhibited sexual habits and still have room for more if needed. At the initial stages of their relationship the Four may need a little patience in order to exercise control over the Twenty-Five’s excitability. Such behaviour caused by the emotional 2 and 5 vibrations is, however, not a permanent or uncontrollable trait as the powerful 7 vibration will always curtail any excess that may embarrass the Four. The 7 vibration is not too different to the 4 in regard to conventional behaviour. Fours should nevertheless learn to distinguish between the Twenty-Five’s dramatic ways and their genuine personal warmth. Twenty-Fives experience many shades of feeling unknown to the Four and a certain lack of subtlety in the Four’s way of handling emotional issues may hurt the Twenty-Five and force them to withdraw into themselves.

Fours and Twenty-Fives born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months make the most successful partnerships. The 1 vibration contained in these months will ensure positive expression of their birthday vibrations. The absence of the 1 force in one or both partners leaves room for negative traits to manifest in various degrees of strength and aversely influence self-expression. A poor self-image which prevents high achievement is the usual problem.

4TH AND 26TH BIRTHDAYS

In this combination of birthdays Four and Eight personalities enter into partnership, as the multiple number 26 reduces to 8. A special feature to be noted is the operation within the combination of the full range of even numbers or receptive vibrations. Alternatively, we may conclude that the absence of odd numbers or active vibrations is a noteworthy feature. The vibrations of the birth month which exercise a strong influence on those of the birthday will play an important part in this combination. More even numbers will cause an overloading of receptive qualities to a degree that will invite an excess of negative elements. On the other hand, odd numbers, by introducing active forces into the personality, form a strong and well balanced individual.

This combination of birthdays also covers all three planes of expression. The physical plane is extensively covered by the 4, the emotional plane is similarly spanned by the 2 and 8, while the mental plane is well represented by the uniform nature of the 6 vibration. In addition, psychic qualities natural to the 2 vibration may be active in a Twenty-Six who has developed in the right environment.

A Four/Twenty-Six relationship will not be formed as a result of an instant or magnetic attraction. Such spontaneous contact is reserved for people of opposite polarities. People with the same polarity and rhythm usually grow upon each other over a period of time. This is particularly the case with those governed by receptive vibrations who are not impulsive by nature. (People with active vibrations could, in fact, be instantly attracted to each other due to their spontaneous and adventuresome temperaments but such attraction may not be long lasting). All receptive vibrations are linked by several common characteristics. Some of these are companionship, cooperation, self-sacrifice, service, sociability, hospitality, guardianship, patience, peace and harmony, conformity, arbitration, hesitancy, resistance to sudden change, absence of tension, egotism and self-promotion. Financial security is also essential before even numbered people are able to give of their best. The frequency and intensity in which these qualities are expressed vary with each number but their basic character remains the same.

With so many personality traits in common Fours and Twenty-Sixes approach life with comparatively similar attitudes and can therefore fall easily into compatible relationships. Individual personality differences and those caused by dissimilar family backgrounds will not destroy their awareness of the close affinity that exists between their dispositions and the consequent advantages to be gained. It is natural for both partners to see themselves as parents and guardians. Their willingness to subordinate individual wishes and needs to the responsibilities of family life will contribute substantially to the success of their partnership. Wide differences in expectations, inner restlessness, disloyalty and other irresponsible forms of behaviour which set off marital problems are characteristics quite foreign to these partners. Neither one nor the other will actively seek to assume the role of leader as the desire to wield authority over people is not an intrinsic quality of the 2, 4 and 6 vibrations. However, the 8 vibration is an authoritative force and as it forms the basic nature of the Twenty-Six, this partner is likely to take up a larger role in organisation and decision making in larger issues relating to the partnership. The kindly, understanding and considerate nature of the 2 and 6 elements will prevent any arbitrary or dogmatic behaviour on the part of the Twenty-Six. Another factor that will contribute to domestic felicity is the willingness of both partners to correct problems and work out compromises before they lead to serious confrontation.

Most Twenty-Sixes cannot resist giving advice whether needed or not, and this habit may not always be acceptable to inflexible Four partners. Fours prefer to form their own down-to-earth opinions using their standards of practicality, serviceability, productivity and strict economy. Though Fours are not egoistic people self-interest and self-preservation play an important part in all their decisions. They firmly believe that charity begins at home in regard to money and goods. While the Twenty-Six agrees with this principle they also believe that charity should not stay at home but should be extended into the community. Fours may be careful with their money and possessions but they are generous with their time and manual skills. The Twenty-Six may be less attached to their money and possessions but equally generous with their time in matters relating to child welfare, physical and psychological illnesses and financial affairs. Both individually and jointly Fours and Twenty-Sixes make valuable neighbours and community members. The strength of this partnership will be based on a close-knit family life in an atmosphere of caring and mutual help. The role of breadwinner, along with a fair share of domestic duties, can be taken up by either partner. As it is natural for both to lead moderate and well organised lives their public responsibilities will not be allowed to interfere with domestic cares, nor will domestic worries be carried into their public life.

With cooperative and consistent ways of doing things both partners participate in group activity without surrendering their identity as individuals. They feel secure in company that follows traditional patterns of behaviour and therefore have no difficulty integrating with old and established sections of society. The team spirit they display in social activity has a strong impact on all those who come in contact with them. The Twenty-Six often gets involved in the problems of others as people in difficulty are attracted to them. Their warm and friendly personality and their own need for company make them easily accessible to persons of all age groups. They are people who are also very sensitive to right and wrong and often become involved in mediation and arbitration. The Four personality is not as extroverted because their natural inclination is to place more emphasis on work rather than direct interaction with people. They do not avoid social intercourse but when called upon to enter social scenes they sooner or later settle down to the practical tasks associated with any such gathering. Their obliging ways could often be abused by selfish or unthinking people. The Twenty-Six’s many words of wisdom and humour plus the practical service rendered by the Four will ensure their popularity and success as a team in any social event.

Twenty-Sixes are great conversationalists. Anecdotes, limericks, impersonations, mimicking and the latest jokes are all part of their conversation, especially when they find themselves in congenial company. They communicate without arousing hostility, suspicion, fear or embarrassment in others. Their sense of humour is usually victimless, with a good measure of flexibility, logical thought processes and well-informed minds they excel in debate and friendly argument. They can be depended upon to initiate conversation, particularly with people who choose to be remain close-lipped, such as a Four personality. Speech is one attribute that clearly distinguishes the Four from a Twenty-Six. Fours are people of few words who do not find silence embarrassing or impolite. Concerned with everyday things they go about their business with an air of quiet efficiency and do not feel the need to communicate their thoughts or inform themselves of the thoughts of others. Whenever approached for their opinions they weigh the pros and cons of the subject and, dispensing with all forms of word-play, give a carefully worded reply that has direct relevance to the subject. The sensitivities of the person or persons present may not be taken into account. They are plain speaking people who are not hurtful but who unconsciously act honestly rather than use tact or diplomacy. Their frankness may initially hurt the sentimental side of the Twenty-Six but the Twenty-Six’s logical mind will sooner or later appreciate the value of the Four’s unequivocal oral expression.

With the advantage of their natural team spirit these partners will share many pleasant experiences in their leisure activities. Neither one will insist on a portion of self-time although this will not be denied them if needed. As they are not really travellers, adventurers or otherwise restless in their ways, their home will be the centre of most of their hobbies. Home beautification and maintenance, cooking and all other do-it-yourself tasks will be undertaken by them. Home entertainment will develop into a fine art but will not be allowed to get out of hand. The manual dexterity of the Four and artistic talents of the Twenty-Six make a rewarding combination. Patronage of one or two good restaurants in the company of fellow gourmets will be a regular feature of entertainment.

Financial security will be sought by both partners and with this end in mind all speculative ventures will be avoided and extravagant expenditure controlled, especially by the efforts of the Four partner. Although they will work in cooperation towards completion of long-term plans their spending habits will not be the same. The Twenty-Six is more inclined to look for a wider range of creature comforts and is therefore less resistant when tempted by luxuries. They are, at the same time, not free from worry over their financial position and this anxiety will often act as a hold on excessive spending. The natural inclination of the Four is towards a simpler life. They can avoid self-indulgence during hard times as self-discipline is one of their special qualities. This attitude will be relaxed only after they have established a solid foundation. No doubt, their modest tastes will also be enriched to some extent by exposure to the more opulent tastes of the Twenty-Six, but their basic thriftiness will always exercise some control over personal expenditure and that of the partnership.

Fours do not get themselves caught up by shifting emotions nor do they respond on the same level to emotional expression by others. They are unflappable people in whom impulsive actions, sentimental declarations of love and effusive compliments are out of character. The Twenty-Six on the other hand experiences and expresses many shades of feeling and expects to be stimulated and cared for both emotionally and mentally by an alert and heedful partner. The practical Four has neither the time nor inclination to cater to these demands. Fortunately, the Twenty-Six is also a personality type that will soon gain an understanding of the Four’s limitations and capabilities and accordingly adjust their expectations. The lack of romantic ways on the part of the Four is amply compensated by loyalty, a high sense of duty and sensitivity to physical contact. Their prowess as sexual partners is greatly enhanced by their sensitivity of touch, their general good health and strong bodies.

The degree of success achieved by these partners will be much higher if both live on the positive side of their birthday vibrations. They can be expected to do so if the activator 1 vibration is present in their birth month. This vibration provides the drive and self-confidence required for maximum use of their personality traits and talents. Progress will be slowed down if only one partner has this vibration. If neither partner has this vibration in the birth month progress will be even slower but this will not affect their compatibility as lovers, parents and homemakers.

4TH AND 27TH BIRTHDAYS

A single digit combined with a multiple digit birthday is, in many instances, open to complications due to the several differences between the straightforward character of the single digit and the complex nature of the multiple digit. However, not all such combinations present the extraordinary contrasts that exist between the 4th and 27th days. In all respects people born on these days are poles apart, not only due to the differences in polarity of their vibratory structures and their planes of expression, but also due to certain unique qualities in the Twenty-Seven which the Four in particular will find rather incomprehensible to say the least. Nevertheless, it can be said at the outset that people born on these days are attracted to each other and once they have formed a relationship do not experience a great deal of difficulty adjusting to their differences and settling down to compatible union.

In all respects the 4 vibration is a closely packed and unyielding force confined to the physical plane. Its natural tendency to resist or remain impermeable to extraneous influences, whether beneficial or otherwise, is the source of its strength and limitation. Reflected in the Four personality we observe characteristics such as fixity of purpose, opposition to change, concentration on work, love of routine, timetables, ingrained habits, ability to adjust to monotonous tasks, high sense of duty, loyalty, fixed opinions, lack of imagination and the ability to keep cool and level-headed when others around them lose their sense of proportion. Other typical characteristics of the Four personality are down-to-earth and realistic attitudes followed by economy, practicality, manual dexterity, strong and healthy physical bodies, sensitivity to all physical objects, physical endurance and suppressed emotions.

The 27th day creates a Nine personality infused by characteristics of the 2 and 7 vibrations. Taken as a whole, the Twenty-Seven is an active force, as the receptive qualities of the 2, corresponding to the emotional plane, are comfortably absorbed by the active forces of the 7 on the physical plane and the 9 on the mental plane. The three vibrations interact in harmony for the most part due to an extraordinary element of a sixth sense contained in each. This is a variable power which may reveal itself in different ways and degrees of intensity depending on the living conditions of the individual. It may manifest as one or more gifts such as inner vision, diagnostic ability, precognition, clairvoyance and sensitivity to psychic phenomena. These are gifts which need to be identified and understood before they can be put to beneficial use.

They remain dormant or fitful in a life of strife and toil. A Twenty-Seven who has fostered these gifts usually graduates to metaphysical, mystical and other esoteric sciences and uses their knowledge to reflect on the plan and purpose of life and their own place in it. Sooner or later knowledge acquired by this means becomes the principal guiding influence in their way of life. Those who have not had the opportunity to do so due to environmental conditions remain concerned and somewhat confused over the contrast between their own reflective ways and the materialistic ways of others around them. It will be this aspect of the Twenty-Seven personality that is largely incomprehensible to the pragmatic Four partner whose mental processes are geared to view all life from a tangible and materialistic point of view.

Despite the Twenty-Seven’s natural inclination towards abstract thought their personality structure does not exclude appreciation of the realities and practicalities of the phenomenal world. Material things do have their place but the Twenty-Seven sees them in a different perspective. A sense of detachment or freedom from enslavement by their possessions distinguishes them from the Four and most other personality types. While Fours live exclusively in an external world the Twenty-Seven occupies an external as well as internal world. They are also able to identify themselves with the world on an international scale, or as world citizens and simultaneously appreciate the past, present and future. Fours, on the other hand, concentrate on a localised or, at most, provincial scene and expend their energies on everyday needs. Twenty-Sevens have no difficulty understanding and acknowledging the value of their down-to-earth Four partners and using their natural wisdom never to attempt to convert the Four to their own profound ways of thinking. There is always the chance of a Four partner having other spheres of influence besides the birthday which may be sympathetic to the non-physical aspects of the Twenty-Seven.

Fours and Twenty-Sevens are not compulsive seekers after authority and power over individuals or groups. As neither partner feels the urge to take control, the individuality of both will be preserved. With mutual respect for each other’s aptitudes and inclinations they both will adopt independent development as well as mutual cooperation. The partnership will be enriched by ideas and opinions contributed from different but non-aggressive points of view and standards of judgment. Both partners are sure to put the needs of their loved ones before their own. Views put forward by the Four are always governed by considerations of economy, practicality and the interests of their own family. While not being neglectful of their own family responsibilities Twenty-Sevens are not always motivated by the same considerations. Their outlook on life does not cease with family welfare or close community involvement but is extended into wider humanitarian and intellectual channels. An academic and professional life is more in keeping with their temperament and talents. Their home is used as a retreat from the tension and turbulence of public life, and to this end every effort is made to establish a warm and intimate atmosphere. As these individuals are not altogether domesticated a larger share of housework will be taken up by the willing and skilful hands of the Four who accepts domestic cares as a normal part of life. In addition, a shrewd, immovable and business-like image projected by most Fours maintains and safeguards the welfare of whatever they undertake. They can be depended upon to contribute to the quiet and tranquil atmosphere needed by the Twenty-Seven and at the same time build a secure home life for their own wellbeing. The same situation may not prevail if the Twenty-Seven is obliged to undertake the greater share of household duties while the Four goes out to work. Fours are qualified as both breadwinners and homemakers while Twenty-Sevens are good breadwinners but indifferent homemakers.

Fours and Twenty-Sevens may not have mutual friends or associate with the same social groups but their attitude towards society in general is much the same. Both partners are scornful of artificial and superficial social values which are rejected by the ever busy Four for practical reasons and by the ever studious Twenty-Seven by their penetrating insight into persons and things. For these reasons both partners could remain withdrawn if they find themselves in a social group not of their own choosing. In company of their own choice they retain a natural dignity of manner as neither partner feels the need for outward show in order to impress their presence on others. Both would rather give credit to others than seek credit for themselves. The vibratory structure of the Twenty-Seven in particular has contradictory forces that cause certain problems in their social life. The extroverted 9 aspect is prepared to take on the world but conflicts with the 2’s sensitivity and the introverted 7’s quest for introspection and solitude. A compromise is reached by association with individuals and groups that do not place difficult obligations upon them but satisfy their dual need for refined company and periodical withdrawal into privacy. Fours are not gregarious types, nor are they dependent on company for entertainment and self-expression. However, they do not avoid the company of congenial people who have the same interests as themselves.

Both partners share a natural reserve in speech and an appreciation for periods of silence which will certainly help strengthen their alliance. They are able to talk little but say much by expressing their thoughts in a few meaningful words or sentences. Neither partner will irritate the other by long-winded and repetitious talk. When their usual reticence is relaxed in special company it will be observed that the faculty of speech is more advanced in the Twenty-Seven than in the Four. Twenty-Sevens are smooth and refined conversationalists, knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects. Conversation does not languish once they decide to drop their reserve. Fours seldom initiate conversation and do not make much of an effort to keep up with the flow of conversation. While they can be depended upon to make a valuable contribution to anything that is concrete and tangible their interest ceases when abstract topics or theoretical and hypothetical matters, so dear to the Twenty-Seven, come under discussion. Word power is not an attribute of the 4 vibration and the Four personality could be rather abrupt in speech and unwittingly injure the Twenty-Seven’s finely tuned sentiments by a lack of subtlety and diplomacy in their choice of words. When differences of opinion occur it will be up to the Twenty-Seven to keep lines of communication open as the Four is more inclined to keep their feelings and thoughts to themselves. A Twenty-Seven is not free from an occasional outburst of emotion through the medium of speech and body language, but such exhibitions may not get them very far with a Four as this personality is not impressed or moved by demonstrations of emotion.

The manner in which they use their spare time and holiday periods may further indicate the contrasts between their temperaments but will also reveal a connecting link which prevents total separateness in recreation. Fours have an irresistible urge to use their hands with all sorts of manual, mechanical and constructive work. They are never afraid to get their hands dirty while carrying out all odd jobs around the home. The neighbourhood and community will also benefit from their manual skills and obliging spirit. Part and parcel of a Four house is a well equipped and carefully maintained workshop or workroom which is held as their exclusive territory. While the Four uses toolkits and related equipment as the means of pursuing their hobbies the Twenty-Seven turns to books, writing instruments, musical equipment and specially selected company or a society to do so. A comfortable study with a good library of books and music will be the Twenty-Seven’s private territory. Many Twenty-Sevens may develop a fancy for collecting old things, such as books, pictures and documents of historical value. The time which both partners regard to be most precious will be that which they spend in their respective dens. The connecting link is their mutual love of nature. Their choice of a holiday location will invariably be in natural surroundings. Here again the Four looks upon nature from an utilitarian point of view with no scruples about hunting, fishing and killing for sport and food. The Twenty-Seven seeks a mystical attunement with nature and feels genuine discomfort when faced with destruction of life in any form. The Four shows a keener interest in the mineral kingdom and many could be professionally connected with geology, mineralogy and related sciences.

Expertise in money management, which is a prominent feature in the Four personality, should result in this partner taking overall control of the financial affairs of the partnership. Twenty-Sevens are by no means as discriminating and economical in money matters. They could give or spend unwisely when their emotions are aroused. While Fours treat all salespersons and advertisements with suspicion, Twenty-Sevens are trusting and impressionable, and consequently vulnerable to deceit. Yet, there is an inbuilt safeguard in the Twenty-Seven that may prevent them from unrestrained use of funds, but before this is activated their generous spending habits may worry the thrifty Four.

The absence of imagination, romance and sentimental dramatisation in the Four is compensated by loyalty, devotion to duty and their dependability as cooperative sexual partners. It is these latter qualities that will be deeply appreciated by the wise and understanding Twenty-Seven who in turn will respond with their own loyalty, devotion and open show of affection. At the same time, their emotionally rich and compassionate nature created by the 2 and 9 vibrations is held in rein by the reserved qualities of the 7 vibration, thus preventing an excess of emotional expression which may embarrass the Four. A deep sense of tradition and conventionality will control the intimate lives of these partners. The capacity to satisfy each other’s physical needs will ensure compatibility in their sex lives. It is not in the nature of the Four to experiment with different partners and whoever is married to a Four feels little need for satisfaction elsewhere as a Four is able to cope with the most demanding partner.

The birth month will play a significant role in determining the material success of this partnership. Fours and Twenty-Sevens born in the 1st, 10th, 11th and 12th months will have greater strength of purpose to go after and achieve success. The 1 vibration present in these months gives them the self-confidence to do so. Those who do not possess this vibration in their birth month will not be as self-propelled, but the compatibility of the partnership will not be affected. If one partner is born in one of these months more decisions will be made by this partner.

4TH AND 28TH BIRTHDAYS

The first step to be taken in a combination that includes a multiple digit birthday is the reduction of the multiple digit number to a single digit. When this is done with the number 28 (2 + 8 = 10 = 1) we find that the 28th day gives us a One personality. However, this Twenty-Eight/One is not an absolute One as in the case of anyone born on the 1st or 10th. The One personality of the 28th day has been formed by the blending of the 2 and 8 vibrations and is therefore a qualified One. The relationship between a Four and this qualified One will not be quite the same as that between a Four and an absolute One. Nevertheless, the interested reader will find worthwhile a perusal of the chapter on the 1st and 4th birthday combination.

A natural tendency towards self-centredness displayed in the outright or absolute One is replaced in the Twenty-Eight by sensitivity to their surroundings and awareness of the needs of others. The combined influence of the receptive qualities of the emotionally oriented 2 and 8 vibrations accounts for this change. They offer the Twenty-Eight the capacity to see more than their own point of view and serve as antennae which register vibratory conditions oblivious to the self-interested outright One. At the same time, the 1 and 8 vibrations, which complement each other in many ways, merge successfully within the Twenty-Eight. Both forces are self-directed towards success and power in public life and the acquisition of material wealth. Though the 1 vibration is the underlying force in the Twenty-Eight, characteristics of the 8 vibration are more prominent, as the 8 is a considerable advancement upon the initial 1 force. All the best qualities of the 1 such as ambition, initiative and leadership, and none of the negative qualities such as egotism and self-interest, are incorporated in the Twenty-Eight through the 8 vibration. The ‘me first’ mentality so apparent in the One personality is substituted by a keen sense of justice and fair play. The 2 vibration within the Twenty-Eight is a cooperative and collaborative force providing qualifications such as diplomacy, patience and courtesy which add further roundness to the Twenty-Eights integral personality.

The common feature that runs through a combination influenced by the 1, 4 and 8 vibrations, and which is not entirely absent in the 2, is a tendency to measure life in terms of material wealth and power. This certainly applies to Four/Twenty-Eight combination which has them interacting towards common goals unobstructed by competitive and antagonistic elements in their dispositions. The partnership may function under a benign form of leadership taken up by the Twenty-Eight, but the most successful feature in it will be the teamwork of these partners which is strengthened by joint possession of talents for organisation and willingness to work steadily towards set objectives.

Based solidly on the physical plane, the Four personality unfolds as a pillar of strength in the mundane affairs of a partnership of any sort. Everything about these individuals is so obviously substantial that, in a personal relationship, it is inevitable that they should be taken on trust by the discerning Twenty-Eight. An outstanding quality of the Twenty-Eight is the ability to recognise talent and to delegate functions to the right people and then leave them to carry on without interference. Fours are at their best performing on their own within an assigned area of responsibility, and in their territory they not only display real efficiency but are also self-fulfilled. They can be depended upon to remain faithful and contented in regular and routine duties. As the absence of a powerful imagination confines them to a strict sense of duty and adherence to the letter of the law they should not be expected to relax or deviate from set rules or principles. Sentiment and emotion do not find a place in the execution of their public or domestic responsibilities. Unrestricted ambition is an undoubted attribute of the Twenty-Eight, but Fours do not set their sights as high. A partnership in which the Twenty-Eight is the principal provider and the Four the homemaker or part-time wage earner has greater chances of material success and personal fulfilment for each partner, rather than the reverse situation. Willingness to accept, and the capacity to handle repetitious and often onerous duties associated with a domestic situation is more in keeping with the Four’s down-to-earth temperament. Competition in public life holds greater attractions to the Twenty-Eight. They are ‘mental’ workers who also put a good deal of emotional effort into their undertakings. Fours take on practical tasks to which their constructive minds and manual dexterity are geared. They are slow and steady workers who are not driven by any excess of enthusiasm or deterred by emotional frustration.

Both partners can work hard and sacrifice other considerations to the attainment of their goals. Their social life is usually the first casualty as neither one is overly dependent on conviviality for preservation of the wellbeing. Close friendships mean less to them than devotion to some pursuit. A short life and a merry one is not part of their philosophy. These are not introverted individuals but the little time left to them after a day’s work is spent attending to personal affairs. In the few occasions they allow themselves some relaxation they move with the same clique of work-related friends and seldom branch off into new or exciting social circles. These partners find accord not only in their social attitudes but also in their method of communication. Neither will stand out as a sparkling conversationalist as fluency of speech and a lively sense of humour are not gifts invested in them by their vibrations. Simple and direct language is used to convey their thoughts. The emotionally oriented Twenty-Eight may, in addition, use expressive body language, but in their interrelation with an unexcitable Four partner any excessive expression of emotion is likely to have little effect. Fours, in particular, are less sure of themselves when the need arises to express or defend themselves through the medium of speech. Action is their means of doing so. Twenty-Eights show less anxiety in such situations as an aggressive and authoritative streak built into their personality, which is also tempered by a degree of flexibility, helps them to get their points across. However, the relevant and important point to make is that between these partners verbal contests will be few and short-lived.

What little spare time left to these work-oriented people may be spent in physical activity for muscular exercise and release of pent-up emotions. It is essential that they learn to draw a line between working and non-working hours and develop interests outside their customary duties. The Four can always find more than one hobby in which their manual and mechanical skills can be put to best use. The Twenty-Eight may use their administrative talents as office bearers in sporting clubs and other social or religious organisations. Despite the little time available to them neither partner will hesitate to volunteer their help in community service. Usually supportive of each other’s interests they could in most instances be found putting in a united effort.

In their pursuit of prosperity both partners will learn to depend on their own efforts rather than trust to luck or the patronage of others. They are generally of one mind on the question of saving and expenditure but may differ slightly in practice. Fours have the capacity to handle their own finances just as efficiently as they manage the financial affairs of others as accountants and treasurers. They develop a natural attachment to money and goods as these possessions are essential props to their self-confidence and peace of mind. The disposition of a Four in this regard can vary from a healthy thriftiness to downright miserliness. The average Four cannot be prevailed upon to spend unless they are convinced of the need and value of each item of expenditure. They work to a budget which is always well within their means. The Twenty-Eight, on the other hand, may make decisions in regard to expenditure which are motivated by sentiment and impulse. Such decisions are likely to meet with the disapproval of the self-disciplined Four. Family members who approach the sentimental side of the Twenty-Eight’s nature, usually succeed in getting what they want. This cannot be done with the Four who uses only practical considerations to form their decisions. The Four partner will take over day-to-day handling of expenses of the partnership while larger issues will be left to the Twenty-Eight. Though sentiment may enter family affairs sound business principles override sentiment when a Twenty-Eight is faced with important financial decisions.

Their tendency to become absorbed in work may not only deprive these partners of adequate time for rest and relaxation but may also limit their intimate relations. They are personality types who like to keep their love life and business life in separate compartments. A conscious effort should be made to prevent their business life taking over a disproportionate amount of their time. They should not only ensure sufficient time for themselves but also abandon the reserve and business-like manner which they normally adopt during working hours. The only romantic vibration in this combination is the 2, and this is easily overpowered by the weight of the restrained nature of the 1, 4 and 8. At the same time these latter forces are among those with the strongest sexual drive and the interaction of three such forces within a partnership will guarantee strong sexual activity. The trappings of romance and sentiment, so dear to the imaginative vibratory forces, will be dispensed with and replaced by physical activity of compatible proportion. Their relationship is not likely to be troubled by infidelity, jealousy or other forms of disruptive conduct as flirtatious and dishonest behaviour is not in the nature of either. Their love for one another is firmly based on trust and loyalty. Family pride and honour are most important to these individuals and in addition to their efforts towards prosperity, both will work unfailingly to build up and maintain a good family name and reputation.

Fours and Twenty-Eights born in the 1st, 10th, 11th or 12th months have stronger personalities than those born in the other months of the year. The 1 vibration provided by these months enhances self-confidence and increases their chances of quick material progress. However, this is not essential for compatibility between these partners.

4TH AND 29TH BIRTHDAYS

Birthday combinations, in terms of compatibility, fall broadly into three categories. We cannot accept any combination as obviously perfect or obviously imperfect. However, there are a few that certainly come close to perfection or imperfection. These occupy opposite ends of the vast diversity of birthday combinations, while the intermediate position is taken up by the majority in which success is achieved after mutual adjustments. Due to extraordinary differences in their vibratory structures a combination of the 4th and 29th birthdays, belong to the near imperfect or incompatible minority.

The 4 vibration is an exclusively physical, material and earth-bound force with a solid structure that is relatively unaffected by other vibratory influences. People born on the 4th day have their feet firmly planted on the ground, along with a constructive mind geared towards practical, stable and utilitarian ways of living. Financial security and a lifestyle consolidated and safeguarded in every other respect becomes their first and foremost priority. Apart from accepting full responsibility for the welfare of their dependants they are people who mind their own business and at the same time do not tolerate interference in their own programmed way of life.

Found in a relationship with a partner having a multiple digit birthday the uncomplicated Four usually experiences difficulty comprehending the complex elements that make up their partner’s multi-dimensional personality. This problem is aggravated when a Four is faced with the exceptionally complex vibratory structure of the Twenty-Nine. The complexity of most multiple digit birthdays is caused by the operation of two or three different vibrations within the single personality. The exceptional nature of the 29th day is due to the fact that it is the only birthday that is ruled by no less than four vibratory forces. In addition, all of them are of an emotional and volatile nature which makes the Twenty-Nine personality a direct opposite of the unflappable Four. In order to analyse the 29th day, it is reduced as follows: 2 + 9 =11, 1+1=2. In the first instance, it will be observed that the personality is influenced by the emotional and precognitive receptive forces of the 2 and the intuitive active forces of the comprehensive 9 vibration from the mental plane. Thereafter, the 29 reduces to the master number 11. We do not disregard the 11 and proceed immediately to reduce it to a single digit as we do with other multiple numbers as the master number has a distinct influence upon this personality. However, the degree and manner in which its energies are expressed will vary according to the individual’s family background. When not motivated by the powers of the 11, the Twenty-Nine is energised by a superlative 2 vibration, which is not the same as the plain 2, as the former is formed by reducing a master vibration. Inevitably, there are problems caused by this complicated vibratory structure resulting in the Twenty-Nine taking some considerable time understanding themselves and exercising a measure of control over their temperamental nature. They may experience many ups and downs in life, or swinging of the pendulum before realising their place in the scheme of things.

A Four partner with little or no internal conflict, who is ready to go on with the business of living and who fits industriously into the scheme of things, may have little tolerance of the Twenty-Nine’s identity problems and troublesome process of self-development. The low frequencies of the 4 vibration create the Four’s placid nature, while the ultra high frequencies of the integral vibratory structure of the Twenty-Nine are responsible for their finely tuned and highly tensed dispositions. It will therefore be unreasonable to expect forces on such different wavelengths to interact in harmony. If by some accidental turn of events a couple with these birthdays decides upon a relationship they will no doubt be undertaking a formidable challenge. To handle this challenge to some degree of success they will need to recognise that their differences cannot be allowed to become liabilities that may eventually lead to separation, but more as reciprocal strengths that could be used to unite and strengthen their partnership. A united effort by both partners will be needed to follow up the difficult process of personality adjustment.

As these individuals are so differently cast in the domestic scene a clear-cut division of responsibility is necessary in order to prevent them from being constantly at loggerheads. Conflict between the Four’s unhurried and deliberate movements and the Twenty-Nine’s high-speed and precipitate movements is inevitable. Fours are self-disciplined and conscientious people who live by simple rules and do not set up expectations they have to live up to. They keep to timetables and perform routine tasks associated with domesticity with efficiency and dependability. They do not experience restlessness or discontent while carrying out full-time domestic duties. However, the nature of the Twenty-Nine is to act as the spirit moves them. They are motivated more by idealism and imagination than by practicality, and are therefore inclined to put off starting a task until the mood hits them. They do not see homemaking as a rewarding occupation, as getting tied down to the same round of duty cramps their style and prospects. Whether in a domestic situation or not, they eventually rebel when caught up in a routine not of their own choosing. They are professional people who find fulfilment in public life with regular contact with people of all types.

The fact that Fours and Twenty-Nines, by and large, inhabit different worlds is also evident in their attitudes towards social life. More conflict can be expected in this aspect of their life together unless a genuine effort is made to reach a compromise. If not, their differences may be resolved by each taking up separate social interests. As labour in one form or another consumes much of the Fours they are not as dependent on social intercourse as are emotionally and mentally oriented people. They are conservatives who settle in a local scene within a limited circle of friends who share similar interests. Sobriety, respectability and traditional values govern their behaviour. A reputation as helpful and dependable members of society accompanies almost every Four. The Twenty-Nine, on the other hand, is sensitive and extroverted towards human relations and metaphysical knowledge. Not only do they seek interaction with their fellow humans but also show a strong affinity with domesticated animals. This need is brought into sharper focus when circumstances deprive them of such opportunities. They are also unconventional people who enjoy being different. While Fours make every effort to maintain and abide by established social norms, Twenty-Nines have no fear of transcending traditional boundaries. They are sought after by a wide variety of people for their vibrant, charming and knowledgeable company. They are reformers at heart who are always ready to give free advice, although their own lives may be turbulent and in need of proper direction. Invariably they find themselves involved in the problems of others. They may be found spending time at home only when a feeling to be alone comes upon them, and this happens when their bodies are in real need of rest and recuperation of energy spent in their overactive lifestyle.

Most Twenty-Nines are people of varying moods. They are extroverted and exceptionally communicative when their spirits are high. In low spirits they become tongue-tied and introverted. Fluctuation of mood in a Four is hardly noticeable as their natural habit in all circumstances is to maintain an even tenor in speech and body language. While Fours are sought after for the many ways in which they willingly offer practical help, Twenty-Fives acquire popularity as conversationalists and counsellors. They are eloquent and magnetic speakers as well as patient and interested listeners. Despite a very sensitive nature their appeal as conversationalists is enhanced by a lively sense of humour. If circumstances demand, expressive body language is also used to soften or coerce others into conforming to their wishes. The range of topics in which a Twenty-Nine can engage is unlimited and an instant change from a frivolous topic to a serious one can be made without effort. Fluency of speech and related talents are not prominent features of the Four personality, and in this respect, a Four partner, is no match for the Twenty-Nine. As mentioned earlier, action is their principal means of self-expression. Their minds are concentrated on developing practical skills rather than increasing word power and oral talents. They use as few words as possible to express their thoughts and may often be misunderstood due to a lack of finesse in their delivery.

The hobbies and avocations taken up by these partners reveal other areas where there are basic differences in the manner in which they experience life. Twenty-Nines are responsive to a wider range of activity caused by an expanded field of awareness at emotional and imaginative levels, and a susceptibility to impulses from spiritual dimensions. Through receptivity to higher forces they acquire an awareness that the world of sense experience is not necessarily the only reality. The faith of the physically oriented Four, on the other hand, is based on sense experience and no more. While Twenty-Nines may spend time and energy in devotion to an ideal or a cause, Fours concentrate on practical tasks. Curiosity is confined to secular knowledge. Twenty-Nines pursue secular as well as sacred knowledge. This is so, as the inner self seeks a spiritual mode of life. As the Four gives no thought to esoteric matters, they find it hard to appreciate and associate with the Twenty-Nine in these directions. The idealistic Twenty-Nine is unlikely to partner the Four in most of their practical hobbies which call for physical and manual dexterity. Furthermore, the private time and hobbies of the Twenty-Nine are usually tied up with their social life, while this is not the case with the Four as they are individuals who are not agitated by restlessness or loneliness and are quite content doing things on their own.

Money matters are certain to cause constant conflict. The problems will not arise in their earning capacity as both partners are capable of bringing in a good income, but rather from their spending and saving habits. Their priorities are so different that opposite methods are used in parting with money. Fours regard their money as hard-earned and form an attachment to it as a means of security. They demand full value, and often a bit more, for the money they give out, and no amount of fast talk by salespersons or advertisements can influence their decisions. As they cannot be enticed into risky investments and they look upon the future with an anxious but steady eye they build up a nest egg in a savings bank account. Twenty-Nines use money only as a means to satisfy their many wants. They do not have the slightest attachment to it and could be slightly contemptuous of those who do. They spend freely and even irresponsibly giving no thought to the future. As a result, their plentiful needs usually exceed their capacity to pay and they resort to borrowing. This is the surest way to upset the peace of mind of the cautious Four. If the Twenty-Nine partner has direct access to the till and controls other financial arrangements the partnership will always experience boom and bust conditions, but security is assured if the Four is in control.

An area in which these partners may find a measure of compatibility is in their intimate relations. Twenty-Nines function too much in their emotions, and not only are their judgments swayed by their feelings, but also by their physical needs. Their moods can never be taken for granted. Fours, on the other hand, are their usual stable selves in regard to their sexual needs and approachability. They have the capacity to cope with the changeable rhythm of the Twenty-Nine. Fours do not expect to be fussed over, nor do they offer romantic attention to their partners. Their love is shown through loyalty and dedication to their commitment. They do not demand freedom of movement and consequently do not expose themselves to distractions that may endanger their loyalty. Twenty-Nines always expect to be paid a good deal of romantic attention and at the same time avail themselves of personal freedom. As a result they experience a higher incidence of personal problems and their loyalty is put to the test through exposure to all types of people.

Fours and Twenty-Nines born in the 1st, 10th, 11th or 12th months will be positive personalities. Though many personality clashes can be expected, there is a real chance of the Four’s commonsense and the Twenty-Nine’s wisdom working together towards a workable partnership. The 1 vibration, among other things, acts as a rudder giving them self-confidence to maintain a proper direction in life. The Four who is born in any other month loses the power of self-propulsion and depends on a strong partner for decisions. The Twenty-Nine who does not possess the 1 vibration in the birth month loses a sense of direction and even a sense of proportion. They make unsatisfactory partners to those who look for stability in their lives.

4TH AND 30TH BIRTHDAYS

4th and 30th birthdays produce straightforward Four and Three personalities. This combination is therefore linked with the chapter on 3rd and 4th birthdays. The action of the Zero in the 30th day is related only to emphasise and not change any form. It does not add any more characteristics or take away any that exist in the Three personality. The individual is not a qualified Three. The Zero acts in an identical manner to positive or negative Threes, insofar as positive Threes can become more positive and negative Threes may let themselves fall deeper into many of their negative tendencies.

The Four’s relationship with a Thirty/Three may have a greater degree of contrasts than one with a plain Three. This will be the only difference between the two combinations.

4TH AND 31ST BIRTHDAYS

Interaction between a straightforward Four personality and a qualified Four personality will be seen in this combination. Their relationship will be the same as that between a Four and another qualified Four, namely an individual born on the 13th day of any month. It may be mentioned that the influence of the 3 vibration is slightly stronger in the Thirty-One than in the Thirteen because the 3 comes before the 1, but this does not make any appreciable difference in their interaction with a Four personality

The chapter on 4th and 13th birthdays should be consulted.
